    Original Jewish sliders
    Heather G.

Stopped by here for the first time on Saturday afternoon in a group of 6. It wasn't too busy, we were sat right away. It did take quite awhile for our server to come around and ask what we would like to drink. Once the server came by for our drink order, he was very responsive and quick. I ordered the original Jewish sliders with a side of coleslaw. I enjoyed these a lot. The sliders were a good size and 2 was a perfect size. I would definitely order these again.

The setting is a large New York-style deli, including a giant display case of savory foods and baked goods the second you walk in the front door. The staff was friendly and seated us right away and our server was attentive and had a great personality. The food was served hot and the perfect 'comfort' dish. I had the Jewish Sliders and highly recommend! My dad is old school and misses liver and onions so we will be returning soon to let him enjoy this hard to find dish. If you haven't been, give it a shot!

Came recently for a quick dinner before heading to another event. Store wasn't busy and we were immediately sat at a booth. Our server, Allison, was attentive and friendly. We've eaten here so many times and typically have the same things! I ordered the full pastrami sandwich with coleslaw and wife had their Jewish sliders. And we splurged on the chocolate cake, which is our typical dessert here! You can't get a better chocolate fix...

I've been a fan of Chompies forever, but today's experience absolutely blew me away. I ordered their breakfast sliders (helloooo challah bread) and a black and white cookie via doordash and man alive was it good. The hashbrowns were crispy and delicious and the sliders! My lanta. I could only eat one lol but I'm definitely saving the other for later. The challah bread was fluffy and lovely, while the sausage, egg, and cheese provided the savory aspect. The black and white cookie was GINORMOUS lol and will definitely take some nibbling over time. This was such a a great experience, and I wholeheartedly recommend checking this place out.

Came in on a late Sunday morning, wait was about 15 minutes. Had the New York sliders and a brisket breakfast sandwich. Sliders were super yummy and easy to eat. Breakfast sandwich was pretty large, but also really good! Service was friendly and price was reasonable. Will definitely be back!

1/2 pastrami on sourdough and cup of matzoball soup.

Unfortunately this place has really gone down hill in the quality of their food. I used to really enjoy their pastrami, but my wife and I dropped by today and both our dishes were just mediocre. My 1/2 pastrami on sourdough had no flavor and the bread was dry. My matzoball soup was OK, but not near as good as it used to be. My wife had the open face tuna melt and she not only didn't finish it, but said she wouldn't recommend it. On a more positive note, plenty of parking, not crowded and easy to get a table and the service was great; but you return to restaurants for the food and we not be going back very soon.

I was in Phoenix for a week and went 3 times! Each time I had a different server but each time , the service was great. That's how good the food is. And I love all the options.

Arrived and waited a little bit to be seated even though the restaurant was near empty. Tried the Salad Sampler, a new menu item that can be shared or works as an entree as well. The food is presented on a board and includes one scoop of chicken salad, tuna salad and egg salad with a bagel, cucumbers, tomatoes and red onion. Delicious and very satisfying. Love Chompie's everything bagels! The place has a great NY decor and vibe. Recommend!

So, I am a Reuben fan! It is literally my favorite sandwich. If it is on the menu I am trying it. Still not New York but this sandwich is excellent. It is a little pricy as I eat Reuben's all around the country. But the large portion size of thinly sliced corned beef, sauerkraut, and thousand island dressing, melted in my mouth. Their Rye bread tastes bakery fresh. The combination had my feet swinging for joy. The service was fast and efficient for the lunch crowd. We enjoyed are meal and everyone was satisfied. Great job on making such a wonderful meal!

Gluten-free chorizo con queso omelet with fruit and gluten-free bagel. $16.28 December 2024

My husband wanted to try this place and I was prepared to only have a drink as someone with celiac disease. Apparently Chompie's used to have a gluten-free menu but no longer have a separate menu nor do they have a marked menu. Unfortunately the website doesn't reflect this information and still displays a "gluten-free friendly" page with information about accessing their gluten-free menu. Today their website reads: "You'll find the scrumptious gluten-free goodies you've been craving on our restaurant menu and at our bakery counter. Our gluten-friendly menu was created with gluten allergies and gluten sensitivity in mind. Browse our Menu for gluten-free friendly menu items as well as selections on our Kids' Menu. You may also order gluten-friendly items from our online store." The waiter told me that although they don't have a gluten-free menu anymore, the omelets are just cracked eggs with no additives like other famous breakfast chains. He said they could make an omelets gluten-free as long as my side was fruit because the potatoes are t celiac-safe. I had the $16.28 chorizo con queso omelet with a side of fruit and a gluten-free bagel. I asked that they neither toast it nor cut it to prevent cross contamination. They brought me a serrated knife to cut it myself. My husband had a not gluten-free pastrami sandwich for $15.99 and he liked it. Overall, my meal was fine but I wouldn't come here as a celiac by myself. There's just way too much gluten that could potentially cross-contaminate the meal. As an aside, one thing that bothered me that wasn't food related was that their male busser was listening to music and then having a facetime conversation with a woman with his phone tucked into his hat. I don't care if staff listens to music provided they're using headphones. Nobody wants to hear a facetime conversation or someone's music on a cell phone in public. Visited: December 2024

So many of the baked goods here are very good. And you can go in and just buy from the bakery. On the restaurant side we also had exceptional service. The food was good, but not amazing. Portions on the smaller side and prices on the higher side make it hard to race about.

Three and a half stars, but rounding up since I grew up often eating at one of their original locations (I always had one of those New York Seltzers, and for some reason, they served albondigas soup). I had a pastrami Reuben with potato salad. First, the potato salad was great. Creamy and chunky, and not too salty. The Reuben overall was tasty, but the pastrami was really oily and it just wasn't particularly tender. I hate it when I take a bite out of a sandwich and can't pierce through all the fillings. Then as I pull away, a bunch of fillings get pulled out and dribble all over the place. And then I'm left with a lop-sided sandwich. A tasty, but lop-sided sandwich. Come here for tasty NY deli standards, but you might end up with a lop-sided sandwich.

Can lunch and dinner menu items be ordered at breakfast time?

If all avocado toasts were like this, I don't know why anyone would choose something else! The sourdough bread was lightly toasted but not so stiff that it scraped up my mouth. Food: I got the banana foster French toast - this was really good not to sweet, nice crunchy ends with soft middle. Per usual no combo for French toast so a side of bacon was $4 and so are potatoes. They do offer a platter for $7 but it includes eggs which i did not want. We ordered side of chicken it needed seasoning bad. I could probably put that on just about anything. The vibes are wonderful too. It's cozy, welcoming, and the kind of coffee shop where you want to linger with a friend for a while. My only critique is the layout of the front room. There always seems to be a line, but there's not really a good place for it to go besides in front of the entrance and the water station. It turns into a lot of "excuse me" and people weaving around each other. It's definitely a good problem to have because they're clearly popular, but I hope as they continue to flourish, they're able to expand into a larger space or rethink the flow a bit. Either way, I'll absolutely be back. Just save me another coconut brown sugar latte.

They have a larger patio space outdoors, which I asked and discovered they are dog friendly so happy to find another venue we can bring the girls to. Lisa, our server, immediately came over for drink orders and confirm we were still waiting for others to join. Lisa, was so patient and friendly while the group gathered and decided what to order. I asked for a glass of O.J. which was sans pulp for those who don't like it in their O.J. I prefer some to jazz it up but it was a good glass of juice. They have a good sized menu with both breakfast and lunch offerings, and it took a bit to decide on what we were eating. I decided on the Corned Beef Hash with two eggs over-medium and a pancake. I asked for it on a separate plate and she said no worries, that's how it is served. The hash was sooo good! Cooked to a crispy crust and so flavorful and not salty at all, which I loved because sometimes hash can be salty. It also came with hash browns, which were cooked perfectly and not greasy in the least. I asked for my eggs over-medium and they too were cooked to perfection. It came with one pancake (I chose this in place of toast) and it was good size cake, with a nice malty flavor. It's sprinkled lightly with powder sugar and a dispense of warm syrup was provided as well. Really good breakfast! Wife went with the 2 egg breakfast with bacon and sourdough toast. Always hoping a local recommendation turns out great. *Service: the service was fair. Our waitress spent most of the time sitting in the booth across from us on her phone and checked in occasionally. A few times we had to ask for things we needed. Nothing rude, just not especially attentive or engaged. Definitely didn't feel like her #1 priority. *Food: I ordered the tuna *melt*. It was alright, but nothing to write home about. The tuna itself was relatively cold (should have been warm on a melt) and lacked flavor, the cheese wasn't melted (it's a "melt", right?), and the bread was good. I dipped and drenched in salt, pepper, ranch and hot sauce to give it some flavor. The fries were good, hot and tasty. Overall, it felt like a mid-level café sandwich made by a basic "cook", not a well curated restaurant sandwich. My lunch buddy ordered a smothered omelette that looked great, and he said it was very good, so that was good. *Ambiance: the atmosphere was decent. Very basic, a bit cold feeling, café-like, casual, and reasonably comfortable. Nothing stood out strongly other than it seemed pretty clean and bright. *Value: my tuna melt and fries, with no drink, was $16. Not great, not terrible. It felt like an $8-$10 sandwich max for what I got, not a standout value. I posted a picture of their specials board so you can get a feel for the value. *Overall: everything here was fair, food, service, and ambiance while value was not great. Nothing bad, nothing memorable. A three-star experience for me. I wouldn't rush back, but wouldn't avoid it if I was in the area and others wanted to go. *Update: I have a strong reputation for detailed, honest, and trustworthy reviews.
