Stopped here on our way to Boston from Connecticut. It was a great choice! We were looking for a place that had sandwiches and burgers and this place checked all the boxes. I ordered the lo-mein which was a special that day which was made with Korean bbq sauce and fried shrimp. It was outstanding. My daughter ordered the chicken tenders with two different sauces, they were serious some of the best tenders I've ever tried. Fried to perfection. We ordered Cajun fries to share which were also fantastic. It's a cute little cozy place with a pretty decent beer selection too. I tried to find something at least a bit healthy but they only had two lonely boring salads. I ordered the steak sandwich with a side salad. The bread for the sandwich was religiously thick, the steak was overcooked and it had fries on it. They were extremely salty, so I removed them. That was a surprise. Than God I ordered the side salad because the sandwich was salty. My husband agreed, not edible. We took half of our sandwiches home, no idea how we reheat them but the portion was adequate. The prices were descent, it was clean and service was good. BTW Chomp, try grilling the wings, par boil them, season them, then throw on the grill. This method won't work with frozen wings. Chomp was a delicious way to end the day. I went with a vegetarian friend, and we both got the same main, The Smokey Bandit Melt, she just got it with a veggie burger. It was excellent! It's spicy and flavorful, and comes on some thick toasted bread that holds up for the whole meal. I think the patty being smashed meant the toppings were better integrated with the meat and it made it really enjoyable to eat. I got the Caesar Salad on the side and that was also good. It had just the right amount of dressing . The dressing wasn't too creamy, it was subtle in the best way. Our server was really helpful in selecting which burger style went best with the veggie burger, and in offering me some off menu mocktail options. This restaurant is always really busy, but they were able to seat us outside on their sidewalk that features string lights. While most of the Water Street restaurants seem to cater to tourists, we locals brave the traffic nightmare for the variety of delicious offerings from the multitude of restaurants in the area. One thing that keeps us coming back, are the more popular items of savory foods like the mac & cheese balls with the most spectacular gravy there ever was. Seriously, you could bottle this gravy, and sell it separately, it's that good. So when my son and I arrived yesterday, specifically for those mac & cheese balls, there wasn't any warning on the menu that the recipe had been changed. Because we have allergies in our party, I am always cognizant to search out ingredients to avoid any kind of allergy. When the mac & cheese balls were delivered, I was beyond disappointed! The dish had changed into a big glob of room temperature cheese that looked to be microwaved. It was enough to ruin my appetite. My other concern is when our server was reviewing the new additions, and answering our questions, she seemed distracted and suddenly said you know what I'll be back when you're ready even though we were asking very specific questions about the menu. She seemed distracted, overwhelmed, and irritated with all of our questions. Food was brought out, we were enjoying a nice conversation, when the same server came back, gave me a funny look and said you know there's two trays there and instead of asking, she reached over while I was in the middle of reaching for my burger and separated our metal trays, causing tables around us to look over. It may seem trivial but having my food touched while I'm eating it, having my ketchup now out of reach lol I was really upset! I don't understand why this server seemed so intent on being so completely disruptive to our meal. I called over another employee and said can you take these mac & cheese balls from the table, we're not going to eat them because this is not what we ordered and was admonished by her for not reading the menu! What?! I wanted to explain that we were trying to ask questions about the menu, but our server was more concerned about greeting, than answering our questions. The end result was giving us a gift card to come back, something I didn't ask for, something I will be donating. When people go out to eat, we would like to take our time and not feel pushed and rushed and admonished for asking too many questions... especially since the pandemic, people are hypersensitive to having their utensils, and food touched. The first time we went was a weekday for lunch and we didn't make reservations prior and got seated right away. This time since it was for lunch during commencement weekend, I made reservations to be safe. There is plenty of inside and outside dining. Our favorite is the Loaded Pimento Tots. These are tots covered in melted pimento cheese, bacon, Alabama White BBQ, chopped pickled jalapeños and white onions. The tots are perfectly crispy and the toppings are an extra touch. The Chomp Hot Chicken sandwich is Southern fried chicken, Chomp hot chicken sauce, buttermilk ranch, dill pickles, shredded iceberg. The sandwich is so saucy. The Brisket Hash Burger is Beef patty, cheddar cheese, 24-hour smoked brisket hash, melted onions, Korean BBQ sauce. The brisket just melts in your mouth. It was so tender. The sandwich and burgers come with Baby Field Greens or Cesar salad or French fries. The Seasonal baby greens, house-pickled shallots, marble rye croutons, Dijon vinaigrette is not too overdressed and fresh. read more

In a world of burger joints - Chomp is always the first I suggest. On the Water in Warren the view is amazing if you catch sunset. Always switching up what I get but haven't met a burger I didn't like there. Can be busy but staff is always friendly. Cliff Notes Version: - Excellent service - Consistently delicious food - Simple menu - Chill ambiance - Great Drinks Details: This review is long overdue. I'll be sure to add more pictures during my subsequent visits, but I'll quickly spoil some of the awesomeness of this place. 1.) The House Burger It's a spectacular burger cooked medium. The beef's natural flavor with the bacon and cheese always meets my tastebuds expectations. Who doesn't want a simple and straightforward burger? If you're feeling lucky, add another patty and double it up. You wouldn't want to miss out on this one. 2.) BBQ Hot Honey Chicken (not pictured) This is my all-time favorite chicken sandwich in Providence. The Chef "understood the assignment" when they matched this sweet and southern BBQ sauce with a little heat. This sandwich will have you licking your fingers and savoring the crumbs. Listen, it's a must-try! Chomp's service and ambience are reflective of its curated menu and eye for detail. You can visit on a nice Providence day and enjoy your food outside with friends, or come inside and enjoy family at a table. I prefer to bring a book and enjoy my meal at the bar. It pains me to give this restaurant 3 stars because it's evident that they strive for better. Still I believe the rating is reflective of the meal we just had. Chomp is clearly targeted at the crowd who swoons when they watch Guy Fieri bite into one of those fat, drippy, overstuffed burgers with exotic (to the point of counter-intuitive) toppings. In this way they excel (at least visually); but none of their concoctions turned out to taste as good as they sounded or looked. My Chili-crisp burger with bahn-mi marinated vegetables and "party" sauce turned out to have no detectable chili-crisp (I was so hoping for a mouthful of Lao Gan Ma goodness). Actually the only taste I could detect was the over-arching and off-putting taste of too much fish sauce. Need I say more? My wife had the Smokey Bandit Melt. It was a beautiful pile of chow by any measure. But there was so unnecessarily too much tangy/sweet sauce that neither of us could taste the beef or anything else for that matter. My son remained quiet during the meal but on the way home he noted that the odd combination of ingredients (including crab Rangoon) on his burger didn't seem to meld for him and he was disappointed by how much smaller his burger was than the Smokey Bandit. He too agreed that he never tasted the beef. We came near closing so I understand why the fries looked good but tasted old. I just didn't appreciate it in consideration of the "every-last-dollar" pricing model they ascribe to. Next time... at least warn me to stick to the salad! Back to the positives. "J" (Jack?) was a highly skilled waitperson and just a nice guy. We'd come back just for him. Aside from the music being a little too loud (even for my son), the vibe is tailored and hip, and the restroom was beautiful and spotless. This might be one of the best places I've been to during the covid pandemic. The minute you walk in staff literally stopped what they were doing to make sure you're taken care of. Sat down, ordered and everything came out at a fast pace. The drinks, wings and mac n cheese were perfect! I ordered a chicken sandwich, which I thought had ketchup on it, but ended up having dark thick hot sauce, which I didn't like at all, but that was my fault for not reading what I was ordering correctly. Chomp is a quintessential comfort food restaurant. They have an extensive drink menu with decent options for beer and a good variety of cocktails. They also offer buckets and pitchers that are perfect for groups of 4 or 5. The food is rich with plenty of BBQ options, burgers, chicken sandwiches and other specialty sandwiches. We started with rich macaroni balls, unfortunately there were 4 of us and 3 balls to split, but we took care of those very quickly. I got the Nashville Hot Chicken sandwich (pictured) as the main course. The sandwich was massive, I could barely get my jaws around the whole thing. I ordered a side Caesar salad that was okay, but had these amazing crispy (possibly fried?) croutons! The sandwich ended up being a little messy, and wasn't quite as spicy as I like, but still solid. We didn't have any drinks this time but I will definitely come back to try something from their extensive drink menu. My sister, brother-in-law and I made a Friday 7:30P reservation to celebrate a birthday. Our table was ready when we arrived but chairs at the bar opened up so we decided to eat at the bar instead. The 2 bartenders welcomed us, both were super friendly and engaging. They answered beer selection and menu questions with smiles. We ordered a round of beers, a martini, and Mac-n-cheese balls. Food arrived quickly considering it was a packed Friday night, the Mac-n-cheese balls were fantastic. We then ordered another round and the burgers/salad arrived at the same time. The burgers were fantastic, surpassing my expectation. Throughout the entire dinner the bartenders would check-in and have a quick chat. As busy as they were, the service was fantastic. As good as the food was, the two bartenders made were what made the night very memorable. read more

Alright ... so the hype on the website sets a high bar. #4 burger in the US? Best burger in the Northeast. Okay ... let's take a step back. The burgers here are good. But is it the best burger I've ever had? Yeah ... no. Is it the most expensive for a counter-service place of its ilk? Well, it's up there but not really. The big thing here is that everything is done right. Everything is routinely seasoned well and on point. These days, that alone warrants a trip. The burgers here are good. They have a charbroiled taste. The beef is flavourful and of a high quality. The sauces and condiments are all freshly homemade. (Right down to the ketchup, which even as a foodie had me reaching for Heinz. Too much basil or something in their homemade. Doesn't taste like ketchup. More like a light chutney.) All the ingredients are fresh ... thick sliced tomato. Crisp lettuce. Smokey bacon. Very onion-y 'special sauce'. It's a good tasting burger, no doubt. Better than Shake Shack, right down the street and half the price? Debatable. I had the House Burger ($16) which had a burger, bun, gouda-type cheese and a stick of bacon broken in half. It had tomato, lettuce and house sauce. My date had the regular old cheeseburger ($11) which had cheese and lettuce. (No tomato). Each burger came with fries but for $2 you can upgrade to mac & cheese. Worth it! The fries were good ... seasoned perfectly. Fairly standard. Maybe a bit on the salty side. The mac and cheese was excellent. Portion was great ... it was fresh, the melty cheese formed 'strings' and it tasted high quality. Some of the best 'quick service joint' mac and cheese I've had. Overall, $18 for the house burger & mac was a bit pricey for what you get. The regular burger with fries for $11 is worth the price vs. shake shack or a sit down spot. The best way I can describe this place is the burgers taste like what you'd get at a homemade backyard BBQ of someone who cares about quality. We will be back to try a chicken sandwich, which sounds delicious. This is a burger splurge but you won't leave feeling ripped off as Quakity Control is clearly a point of pride here. A burger and mac for $12 would be 5-star worthy. At $18, 4stars are good. read more

Like flags hung all over the telephone poles promote, maybe too subtly, "Food,Culture,Community - Historic Fox Point". Chomp Kitchen and Drinks is a perfect example of all of these attributes. Situated in what was the Eagle Supermarket on Ives, they have lovingly preserved the market's beautiful neon sign. Culture and community are vibrant here as is evidenced by the diverse customer base that continues to grow and support this young business. I appreciate that Chomp doesn't do brunch, as it's becoming so difficult to find a full on lunch menu on the weekends in general these days. We sat outside at the sidewalk picnic tables lining the exterior. Nice thing about the outdoor seating here, is that the oversized restaurant windows are wide open on beautiful days like this, with a full unobstructed view of the bar and dining room from the outdoor seating, making you feel more integrated to the action and atmosphere happening inside.Chill, eclectic music ambiance as well including Stevie Nicks, The Beach, Dope Lemon, Washed Out "Feel it All Around" aka theme from Portlandia and even some seasonal Charlie Brown Jazz by Vince Guaraldi, perfect for a glorious autumn day in this lovely tree lined neighborhood. Our server was attentive, knowledgeable and seemed genuinely happy to be working here. She asked if we had dined at Chomp before, and since this was our first visit, had many suggestions for libation and scratch made food items. We started with a Chomp Manhattan and a Green Tea Old Fashioned, both mixed to perfection! The menu has a unique selection of starters, wings, salads, and an excellent variety of burgers and chicken sandwiches. We don't eat a lot of red meat, but decided to make an exception today as Chomp is most famous for their burgers. We settled on the Smokey Bandit Patty Melt and the Cacio E Pepe Cheesesteak which we split, with fries and a Caesar as our sides. I can't even begin to describe how incredible the sandwiches were, absolutely decadent! The skin on fries were crispy golden outside and puffy inside, and the Caesar fresh and crisp with just the right amount of cheese and dressing, topped with warm homemade tender croutons. If I had one suggestion, it would be to add more onion and peppers to the that incredibly tender, juicy cheesesteak for a little more contrast. Superb first experience, and another great restaurant added to our culinary rotation. Upon departure, I was sure to thank her for a great introduction to this growing business and she let us know to come back next week for the debut of an updated menu with some exciting new additions. It's a small, cozy little spot on St. Ives. Very nice inside, this spot has some bangin food. They have multiple interesting burger options and what I got got me excited to try the rest. I got the Smoky bandit patty melt with two patties and added mushrooms, and it is huge and very, very good. I got the brussel sprouts and they were absolutely delicious. I'm very intrigued to try the rest. And there got sauce, house hot sauce, isn't super spicy, but the flavor is unique and incredible. 3.5 stars I don't eat beef, but went with some friends who do. My friend who got a beef burger (smash burger) said it was good and well cooked. I got the salmon burger, which had pico and crispy onions. The crispy onions were tasty and a nice texture, however I felt the burger overall was a little lacking flavor, and not worth the higher price. I got the Caesar salad side and wish I had gotten the fries. The salad was overdressed and a little soggy. Overall the food is decent, but overpriced in my opinion. They had the option to sub a veggie burger for any of the available options. I wish they offered impossible burgers, which I feel is more fair for the price. Went the first time a few months ago and have been back multiple times since. The chicken sandwich that I get has a waffle fry in it, and the singular thing I would change about this entire restaurant is that I wish all of their french fries tasted like that waffle fry. Everything my Fiance and I ate tasted good, not phenomenal but still very decent food. The issue here is with the pricing and the portions. We ordered an appetizer of truffle fries for a whopping 16 dollars and we were literally given like 9 fries, it was a rather disappointing and left us wanting for more. Also, the fries were good but they did not have an authentic truffle flavor, and were not worth the price of 16 dollars. Ultimately the total of our bill for 2 was exceptionally high, and would've been better spent at a nicer restaurant as there are many in the area. I got the Chomp Hot Chicken this past Saturday. It was a last minute decision but a place we had been discussing trying - and we were lucky enough to log on at 3:16pm and got a reservation for 3:30pm. They had us confirm at check in that we weren't sick. The staff were gloved and masked (which should be obvious but they appeared to be really good at following protocol). We had a spot on the side street off Ives - and in this day and age I live for outdoor dining, but normally i hate it. My mom always wants to go to Andreas and sit outside but I can't stand having crowds walk by while you're eating. This was a lovely quiet side street. Service - Art was our waiter and even before I knew he knew my brother he was excellent. Honestly - I would've expected service to go down once he found out but it was still stellar (jk jk my brother isn't that bad). He gave us time to review what we wanted but never disappeared. Being around the corner and outside I figured we may have been forgotten but nope! Art was on top of things. Food - ALL I CAN THINK ABOUT IS THIS CHICKEN SANDWICH and the burger my friend got that also looked amazing. I'm disappointed my drunk ass ate leftovers Saturday night rather than while sober Sunday and I could have really reflected on the delicious burn (yeah yeah I didn't finish it at the time whatever I wanted to it was so good but it was filling).
