BEST pad thai in the city!!! the pad thai noodles are chewier than the average noodles you get at other restaurants, which i love. love that it comes with the tom yum soup in the lunch set :)

Good service and tight cozy spot. I got the basil beef dish spicy, and it was pretty good. Would stop by again if I'm in the area.

This hole-in-the-wall appearing restaurant has delicious authentic Thai food. They have the lunch special even on the weekend which is rare to find. I ordered the drunken noodle with beef and it tasted quite flavorful! It's definitely a medium spicy so you've been warned. The lunch special also comes with a tom yum soup that was very flavorful. My also got the pork appetizer which had a sweet marinate with a sauce that paired nicely. They didn't take too long for the food. I'd recommend this restaurant if you are looking for legit Thai food!

Wonderful, authentic mom and pop restaurant that beats out other restaurants in the Manhattan area both in food quality and price point. We originally went for Friday night dinner and came back for the lunch special as well. For dinner as 5, we got Curry Puff as an appetizer and 3 entrees: Pad Thai, Drunken Noodles, and Khao Soi. The curry puff was really yummy and stood out as something new and all of the dishes were made hot and were equally outstanding. I really like the drunken noodles as they were spicy, the curry and fried noodles in the khao soi, and the savoriness of the pad Thai. Lunch special portions are generous and filling. I really enjoyed the tom yum soup that came with the lunch special, and the alternative, egg rolls, were fried hot for the order as well. Lastly, the interior and service of the restaurant is lovely. Each table had a flower on top. I can really see the charm of the owners in the colors and decor. Overall, great food and truly well kept!

Really good thai spot! Stopped by last night with some friends and enjoyed all the dishes, everything was soo good, from the shrimp to duck, to pork pad see ew and minced pork dish, flavorful and yummy. The iced tea was good too! Highly recommended. Small space though so come early to beat the crowd. Friendly staff!

Just came back to add more pics. Trying more foods here. Great place but i will say, it's quite inconsistent. sometimes my pad thai will be a 10/10 other times it would be a 7/10. But anyway the rice plates on their menu are the true star. so many great options here. Small place so it gets crowded very quick but service is kind.

Some of the best Thai food in New York City at an outstanding price! Incredible flavors. Everything cooked to perfection. Friendly servers. I make an effort to go to Chomp Chomp every time I visit NYC.

Delicious and affordable spot for a Thai lunch. The Khao Soi was so flavorful with a generous portion of chicken. The chicken in Pad See Ew was a bit too dry, but the flavor of the dish was great. Love love love that the side soup is Tom Yum Gong!

We were pleasantly surprised with our visit to Chomp Chomp. The restaurant is arguably small, and making reservations is highly recommended. They don't serve any alcoholic drinks, but on the good side, they're BYOB. For an appetizer, we shared chicken wings with sweet chili sauce and ordered a bowl of chicken Tom Yum soup that is good for two people. For our main entree, we shared stir-fried rice with crab meat and eggs and paired it with fried seafood with traditional Thai curry sauce. (We gave plus 1 star to this dish as the fried seafood was not swimming in curry sauce.) It truly exceeded our expectations from this restaurant. From price point, customer service, and flavor of each and every dish. If you are in the Lower East Side and craving some authentic Thai dishes, this place is worth a visit.

SERVICE - located on the intersection of 1st ave and Houston street - small interior with enough seating for 20 people - tables can feel cramped together - restroom located downstairs - servers moved very quickly when taking orders and clearing plates which made it feel like we had to rush our meal - ambiance good for a casual lunch or dinner MENU - standard Thai menu - vegan and vegetarian options available - well priced ($15 per entree) FOOD - drunken noodles with tofu (5/10): wide noodles coated in a spicy sauce with fried tofu and mixed vegetables. I asked for it to be spicy and was not expecting the hit of chili that I got with every bite. There was no flavor other than heat. The tofu felt over fried and covered in oil. WOULD I COME BACK? I was not a huge fan.

A bit squished (small restaurant) but food was 10/10! Would recommend basically everything on the menu!

The food was delicious and the service was wonderful. My friend who I went with gave a better review but I need to give them another 5 star rating!

The lunch special here is a phenomenal deal (entree and soup or spring rolls). I went with two friends and was able to try three entrees and both appetizers. The restaurant was super accommodating in making all of the items vegetarian. The spring rolls were crispy, but nothing too special. The soup had plenty of flavor and was my favorite of the appetizers (the vegetarian option comes with just mushrooms). All the entrees were solid. The Pad Thai and curry were about on par with those you'd get elsewhere. The basil fried rice was my favorite of the three entrees because of the extra heat. For just $11-12 per person, this deal is pretty hard to beat. This pricing is also available on the weekend, which is also very convenient.

We were greeted by very friendly staff members who, despite our early arrival, worked hard to get us seated as quickly as possible. The space's vibe is exactly what we needed to get away from the hustle and bustle of the Times Square area -- dimly lit, but everything was still visible, not too much noise while extremely busy, and very cozy atmosphere made super pleasant from such attentive, kind staff members. I was especially impressed by our server, Leena, who checked in with us regularly, gave excellent recommendations, and was clearly concerned about giving us an amazing experience. My wife and I ordered one of the seasonal offerings--a sweet and savory fruit salad--that was the perfect start to our meal. I ordered the massaman, and it was easily the best massaman curry I've ever had in the United States. Perfect spice level, the chicken fell right off the bone (even my wife, a vegetarian, commented on how clean the bones looked after I removed the meat), and the mixture of textures and flavors with the lotus seeds and onions really created the perfect dish. I am craving it just sitting here and writing this review! Prices? Honestly, I couldn't imagine a fairer deal given the quality of the food and service we received. I was utterly blown away. I cannot recommend Mitr Thai enough! I can't wait to return next time I'm in the city!

The restaurant was busy and I was by…read moremyself so I was happy to sit at the bar, and was attended to by the most sweet bartender ever. Very polite, professional and attentive. I first ordered the crispy spring rolls, which were very good. For my main I had the Massaman Curry. Now folks, this is my favorite curry of all time -- actually one of my favorite foods of all time -- and while it's common in LA where I used to live, it's not as common where I live now, in the Bay Area. And the restaurants that do carry it usually do not make it right and it's not very good. I am used to Massaman in the traditional preparation where it's more like a beef stew made with chunks of beef and needs to cook overnight. When done right it is the most aromatic curry ever -- it's almost like an aphrodisiac! -- and the beef comes out oh so tender. Usually if places have this curry but then offer a choice of protein, then it generally is not cooked properly, and that is actually how they prepare it at SaiTong. But because of such great reviews I decided to take a chance and try it. Well, let me tell you, it was definitely not the norm...it was absolutely delicious! I had it with chicken (they serve breast as default), and the chicken soaked up the curry really nicely. I also asked for there to be no onions, which I think alters the flavor of a curry too much. It does include the traditional potatoes and peanuts, and the potatoes were fine and cut into nice little chunks, the peanuts actually were thrown in raw.. what I think is the more traditional way which is to actually burn the peanuts a little bit, but that's okay, it didn't take down the dish any. Their brown rice is of the very dark kind, which I like, and goes so well with the curry. Service was wonderful from the bartender but was also provided by the rest of the staff and everyone was so nice. I left there feeling so satisfied, and cannot wait to go back and try some other dishes.

Fortunately, there were plenty of options near my Midtown hotel that offered quick delivery. Dagg Thai was just around the corner and had solid Yelp ratings. Rather than creating an online account, I called the restaurant directly and placed my order. They estimated delivery would take about 25 minutes. Less than 20 minutes later, the food was waiting for me in the hotel lobby. I ordered: * Cashew Nuts with Shrimp -- Bell peppers, onions, scallions, cashews, and dried chilies. * Dumplings -- Mixed shrimp and pork served with a soy vinaigrette dipping sauce. The Cashew Nuts with Shrimp had a flavorful, light sauce with just the right amount of heat. I really enjoyed it. My only disappointment was that the shrimp were battered and fried; I would have preferred grilled or pan-seared shrimp. The dumplings were more like shoo-mai than traditional dumplings. They were a bit dense but still flavorful and satisfying. Considering the quick delivery, the food arrived piping hot, and the excellent Cashew Nuts dish, this was an easy four-star meal.
