Sushi Deluxe

Hype is not about the food. Hype is about the hipsters that come here. Ambiance: Afro Raggae bar meets high school cafeteria meets small noodle shop with wooden aesthetics. Food 2/5 Vegetable potstickers Edamame inside --permissible Potential corn inside-- not what one would expect Uní I ordered an extra in addition to the one that already comes in the set but not as fresh and Sushi set w/Toro Toro-- not fresh by judging from the color alone. Not red but a pale pink indicating dryness. The consistency was not buttery at all so it is not the "fatty tuna" you are used to Zest roll Highest ranking of entire night because it was a safe choice Yuzu drink Refreshing but sweetness masked the acidity Thai Tea No tea taste but lots of milk so we switched it out to a safe ginger ale Service 2/5 Busy Friday night and because of that, the hosts and servers might not be listening to what you are saying and just trying to get their work done ASAP I asked if I could please write my name down 3X and the host said "No" and on the 4th try, I finally said "I want to eat here and I need to write my name down on the waiting list please. I am NOT on the list yet." Price 1/5 $149 for 2 people after tip and no alcohol especially when the food did not deliver plus the cut roll is about 20% smaller than your average roll, makes it overpriced

This sushi spot in LES has an amazing happy hour, and I'm so glad I stopped by! I came on a Friday around 6:20pm and they were pretty busy, but fortunately I was able to grab some wall seating without a reservation. Service here is kind and fairly quick. They have a variety of options on their HH menu (all around $6), which includes Japanese appetizers, mini rice bowls, sushi, nigiri, and drinks! I got their plum wine, yellowtail jalapeno sushi, salmon sushi, takoyaki, a couple baos, and their unagi-don. Everything was great! Although it might've not been the best I've had (which I expected), it's an amazing deal and good quality for the price. Would highly recommend to check out the HH here!

Great for happy hour! My friend and her kids joined me for happy hour on a Friday around 3:30PM and while the tables were half full when we got there, it was packed by the time we left around 5, indoors and outdoors! The beef fried rice is really good and flavorful, and the rice isn't soggy at all. Some places really miss the mark with rice that's too soft. The rolls are really good - the protein to rice ratio is great! My friend's son really liked the shrimp tempura. It's nice that they provided metal cups for the kids instead of the glass ones. Will definitely be back!

Zest is such a nice and warm restaurant. I emphasize on the warm part. My friend and I came across this place when were in the area the other night when it was freezing out. We made it inside just in time as they nearing closing hours. We ordered some edamame, Shrimp Tempura rolls, a California roll, and the fried cheesecake that came with green tea ice cream. The service was very quick and everything was satisfactory. The rolls were very tasty and the fried cheesecake was everything. I never knew I needed that in my life but I do now. I definitely plan on going back for more of the cheesecake and to explore more of their menu.

We came here for the happy hour deal. We were able to walk in early on a weekday and be seated immediately. The restaurant is dimly lit, busy, and the seats are very close together. The service was fast and we both got 3 rolls for $6 each. The quality was okay, worth it for the deal, but I otherwise would not come back.

The happy hour deal here is amazing! So much great dishes for super cheap. But be prepared to wait a bit - place is definitely cozy inside! Very quick service and sushi is very fresh. Will be back!

Came here for the happy hour, it was very nice and I was able to get roasted green tea and hot matcha. The sushi was good for $6 rolls and the happy hour has so much on it. The ambiance was nice and they were playing reggae which was awesome for me. The service was also really good. I had a nice time here

One of my favorite sushi spots in the city!!such a intimate space, packed with phenomenal lunch specials and great happy hour($6|3:30pm-7pm). The staff here is absolutely amazing--so attentive and friendly! The chefs are quick, and everything always comes out fresh and flavorful. I try to switch it up and try something new each visit, but my go-to favorites are the Crispy & Spicy starter, the Spicy Shrimp Roll, and the Fried Cheesecake with Green Tea Ice Cream--truly a perfect finish. Honorable mention goes to the hot sake--hits every time! Highly recommend for a consistent, satisfying experience.

Suchhh a great happy hour deal here, even very well priced outside of happy hour. Easy & affordable. Service was good, had to wait about an hour for our table. Sushi was fresh & delish!

Amazing happy hour!! very cute place with outdoor seating perfect for a chill evening with friends. Sushi is very fresh and service is fast. Would absolutely reccomend to anyone

Zest has a really amazing hh, it's $6 for anything on their hh menu including rolls, appetizers, and drinks! All the food was very good and there was a wait time but as long as you get there around 6, it seems like it's pretty easy to make it. They have a mix of outside and inside seating. The outside seating is on the street but honestly it's decent and not too loud. I'd definitely come back again!

Great food, great happy hour deals. I share this spot with everyone cause it's just a happy hour you can't beat! Service is always fast, and the spot is so cute. It is small so be prepared to sit a bit close to other tables during happy hour but doesn't affect the vibes at all! I love it here!!

Not all midtown restaurants stay open past 10, and I was relieved to find their kitchen going strong at that hour, as well as their dining space, which was full. Turned out it was for good reason because their food was delicious. My friend and I were hoping to eat at a restaurant nearby specializing in crab, but they closed much earlier. Fortunately for us, SaiTong's menu had plenty of crab on it, and we decided to double up and make each of our entree's a crab one. The black spaghetti crab curry and crab curry noodles advertised themselves as being very different dishes in both presentation and ingredients but ended up tasting kind of similar. One was topped with deep fried crab and used a different type of noodle than the other, but the sauces were so similar. This is not to say that they didn't taste good, but I would've preferred more variance. I'm glad we got an order of papaya salad to cut the richness of the other dishes, and I also appreciated it had a nice level of heat in it. Our servers were really friendly without being overbearing, and let us linger for a bit even after we paid the bill, as it was their last seating for the evening. There are so many excellent Thai restaurants in the city and I'd put SaiTong firmly in the category of perfectly solid spots to get your Thai fix, with some special dishes on the chef's menu worth checking out.

However, when I got to the restaurant, I was told that they were not participating. Both of us were starving, and I had put in a birthday request at the restaurant, so we decided to stay. The ambiance is classy, and this would be a great spot for a business dinner or date night. I ordered a massaman curry with roti and chicken ($29), and my friend ordered the chuchi shrimp ($30) and curry puff ($16). Prices are a bit above average for the portion size, but justified by the area. We both enjoyed our dishes; the flavors were on point! Then, for my friend's birthday, they gave us mochi ice cream and a card signed by the staff! That was a nice touch that overrode the restaurant week debacle. Service was fantastic. There were multiple check backs and water refills. I would recommend Sabai Thai for a fancy night out, and I would return to try other dishes.

As a Thai person myself and as indicated on their menu, it's the way most Thais eat this dish :) The fried egg added that rich, runny element that really brings everything together. The veggies were nicely sautéed, fresh and still crisp, and there was a good amount of ground pork, so the dish felt hearty and satisfying rather than rice-heavy. Overall, the flavors were solid and comforting, though I personally found it just a touch sweeter than I prefer for pad kra pow. Even so, it definitely hit the spot and was very satisfying for a late-night craving. The staff were friendly and welcoming, which made the experience pleasant overall. One thing to keep in mind though is timing - if you're dining closer to closing, you may feel a bit rushed toward the end of your meal. All in all, a solid option for Thai food!
