Just created an account to give this mechanic a great review. I searched the local mechanics to find one with a lotta 5 star reviews, and turned to Choe's when the others were all tied up. So, I'm a first time customer. I called at 3:30pm, asked for a tune up & oil change asap, as one of my spark plugs wasn't firing -he (Sean) said "come on over." I arrived at 3:45pm, he diagnoses and provides an estimate by 3:55pm. He gets it all done by 4:55pm, and then goes on to fix some broken lights in various places free of charge. Perfectly fair prices, great communication skills and immediate service... he's superheroic in my book, and I'll be happy to recommend him to my friends. read more

I have a 2002 car. I know it has failing parts. I had a coolant leak finally made itself known by spewing coolant all over the belt system resulting in a very attractive white smoke every time I stopped at a light. Googled that problem for my car and learned that it was probably my water pump. Brought it to Choe's told them I had a coolant leak and the mechanic immediately came out and started diagnosing my problem. They gave a very good look and spent some time without asking me for money. So it was the water pump... gave me a quote and fixed it that afternoon. Price was exactly as quoted. I wanted OEM and the mechanic also wanted that. As usual labor is more than the part price but that's how it is. read more

I needed to get just a simple oil change for my Smart car, for which I had the filter, crush washer, & appropriate synthetic oil. I stopped by and asked them if they could do an oil change. The said of course and drove my vehicle right in, and got right to work on it. I was in and out in what seemed like less than half an hour,...for $20. I had brought the oil and filter, remember, so that's why it was so inexpensive. I had been referred to a Mercedes "motorwerke" shop in WC, and they refused to do just the oil change. They said "they would have to do a complete inspection." In other words, they were REQUIRED to GOUGE YOU and charge you for more than you actually needed or wanted. Choe's is the COMPLETE OPPOSITE. Thank you guys for being very honest, diligent, businessmen. These guys are fast, friendly, efficient, & very affordable! I highly recommend seeking them out and referring your family & friends to them, as they appear to give excellent value for their service. I discovered this auto shop by coinsidence, it was inside the street, not easy to notice. Later I needed a long trip with my car, so I wanted them to check my car before I left . They honestly told me it was fine without any problem on long trip, and they even did not charge me at all. Because of the good impression about their honesty, I had my new car to repair in their shop in stead of in a local dealer's garage. They only charged me 65% of the amount that dealer's quoted. Now the car goes very fine for a pretty long term after fixing. I am happy with finally having a good, quality and trust-worthy auto service nearby with great convenience, the most important thing is they are very honest with reasonable price. read more

I'm so glad I found Choe's online and decided to go with this place. I was looking for a place with "trustworthy" themes in their reviews and they definitely lived up to. I was helped quickly and went about my day, he was professional and direct. No games. I trusted his expertise (as that is why I was there). I came in to talk to Steve regarding my FJ truck it has this whistling sound turns out it was my alternator it was a same day job and also above and beyond customer service. I wasn't going to get it done that day due no ride but with his busy schedule he offered to drop me off then pick up when it's ready. Hands down to Steve not only that his very efficient he will take good care of you. Also it's hard to find someone that you can trust with your car. I bought my 2008 Prius new and took it to the dealer for all its life and almost 200K miles. Earlier this year, though, it had a problem with the hybrid system on the weekend and the dealer didn't have an opening for 2-3 days, so I took it to a parts store and checked the code, which came up as a water pump failure. Online research told me it should cost about $350 to fix, so I was surprised when I called the dealer and was told it would be $750. I called Choe's on the advice of a friend who was a customer there, and to my surprise, the man who I spoke with let me know that the water pump had been recalled and should be covered by the dealer. He could have just fixed it and taken my money, but he had too much integrity to do that. The dealer said since they had already replaced it under the recall once before, they wouldn't do it again, even though the pump they put in failed too! So, back to Choe's, who replaced the water pump for about $350, and gained a customer for the future! read more

They overcharged me when they figured out that I don't know about car. Also, they asked me to replace something even though it is still OK. I feel like I threw my money away to get some service which is not necessary. I will not go back there again. read more

To put it simply, I will not use another mechanic for my cars. Every time I have brought one of our cars to them they've been fast, honest (even telling me not to spend money getting certain things done) and reasonably priced. Recently my catalytic converter (or 'cat' for short) on my truck went out. It went out so bad that the truck wouldn't go over 20MPH. It broke down on the Bay Bridge, and they towed it to SF. I got a quote from a garage there for $1800 (it needed repairs to the stuff that had caused the cat to go out, not just a replacement cat, hence the high price). I had the truck towed to Choe's, they went right to work and found several more things wrong with it...plus did some needed maintenance on other areas...but it cost far less in the end. That's right, way more repairs, way less money. I couldn't be happier with Choe's. read more

My truck was having issues and almost overheating every few blocks. No way I was going to make it the 20 miles home to my local mechanic. After looking on yelp for mechanics in Concord, Choe's had availability that day. This being somewhere around 2 pm. I took it in and Steve was already under the hood before I was out of the cab. Since the car was overheating he said he had to wait till it cooled before he could get in there, but was still looking around troubleshooting. I went home and within the hour he called me with a diagnosis. He said he could really rush and have it done by 5 if I really needed it, but I said I had no problem picking it up in the morning. When I got there the next day everything was ready for pick up. The price was extremely fair considering it included parts and labor. I have paid more at other mechanics who took a lot longer. They even threw in a need oil change for free. It is nice to know there is a great efficient place that I can take my truck to. I would definitely recommend Choe's to anyone in the Concord area! read more

I have had so many problems finding a honest shop to get my cars repaired. I like to take my car in myself due to my husband work schedule he can't always be there. Most places I go talk to me like I have no clue and very want to explain to me what they have to do. Not here they are very patient and very honest. They take the time to explain and show me what they have to do. They do it right the first time and don't charge an arm and a leg. I went to Firestone the other day to get my tires aligned and was told afterwards that I needed to replace my front struts. Choe replaced my struts and upper strut mounts perfectly for a fair price. read more

They're not going to sell you something you don't need which equals big savings. They keep their promises. Pulled up to this business and was not greeted right away and area was already pretty cramped with other cars in an already small area. I was beginning to wonder at first if I was even in the right place. A gentleman did finally come up to me help and I told him I needed an oil change. He quoted me half the price of what we usually get charged for at other oil chance places. I decided to go for it, and they were quick, and as said before, paid a reasonable price. They also did check fluids, tire pressure, etc for no additional charge. A little out of the way location, but it's worth it. I will be coming back! read more

I would like to echo the sentiments of all the Yelp reviews. These folks are great. They are everything you want in a mechanic. My Mechanic was busy and I was strapped to have a Brake job done for my Toyota sedan. I called other tire places and they were a bit pricey for a simple 4 wheel disc brake job. I found Choe's Auto Center had good reviews so I gave them a call. Steve was professional and courteous. The quote was lower than all my other calls and they used original Toyota (OEM) parts. My wife brought the car in and they inspected the brakes. But that is not all, they did a thorough inspection of the car and found it was one quart low on oil which they added at no charge. My cabin air filter was dirty and they offered to replace it with no pressure or threats. I declined the cabin filter. They even took the time to rotate the tires at no charge. When I arrived in the afternoon to pick the car up I was shown the brake pads and was given an explanation on the work that was done. I recommend Steve for your auto repair needs. read more

This place a big joke and it has cost me over $5k in damages to my beautiful BMW 330i with ZHP and 6 speed manual. One of their so called mechanic by the name Mike, took my car out on a joy ride instead of a pre-purchase inspection and miss shifted the tranny causing internal engine damage as well as damage to pressure plate. I have two passengers in the car at the time that have testified to that.The car had been running like new and granted it has 160k miles on it but ran like it had 20k!! This car has always maintained at East Bay BMW, it had just passed smog with flying colors. I have spoken to two BMW master techs and both told me that this particular engine will get damaged if miss shifted specially at freeway speeds. I've contacted Steve whom says he's the owner and that sorry excuse for a mechanic, Mike and have gotten no where with them. They were given a chance to make good I'll let the law take it from here.
