The technician was at our home for less than 30 minutes. He vacuumed the pool briefly, treated the water, and then informed us that his pool vacuum had stopped working. When he left, the water actually appeared greener than it had before he started. There was no effort to remain and monitor the treatment or ensure the pool was improving. When we asked whether the pool would clear up, we never received a direct answer. Afterward, we communicated through Yelp regarding the pool's progress. We were repeatedly told that we had a phosphate issue and should have the water tested. However, we hired them a professional specifically to diagnose and treat the pool, so we expected water testing and guidance to be part of the service we paid for. The technician also stated that he would return to vacuum the pool again if we were not satisfied. That follow-up was necessary because the leaves and debris on the bottom of the pool were never completely removed during the initial visit due to his equipment failure. He communicated he would be there sometime the upcoming week no definitive day and time. (Red Flag) Unfortunately, he never contacted us again to schedule that return visit, nor did he follow up to check on the pool's condition. In the end, we purchased our own chemicals and successfully eliminated the algae ourselves. We then hired another pool company to finish the job. They scrubbed the pool walls, vacuumed the entire pool, tested and balanced the water, provided us with a detailed water test report, and left us with a crystal-clear blue pool before leaving our property. They also gave us instructions for maintaining the pool ourselves or using their services in the future. That level of service is what we expected when we hired Dot's Pool Service. Our disappointment was not just with the results, but also with the lack of follow-up, communication, and accountability. We genuinely wanted to support a small business and had high hopes, but our experience was very different. Clear communication, reliability, and standing behind your work are essential in any business. Based on our experience, we cannot recommend Dot's Pool Service and would encourage others to consider other options.

They were timely, and did everything by the book. At that time, we needed to replace our pool heater, which WAS discussed with them; however, they did not offer any options for us. In March 2023, we contacted DPS to open our pool. At this time we had to schedule through their website, a contract was sent, and we opted for the opening with chemicals. The day of the service, we became aware that it was going to rain for the next 3 days and had questions because we were going to push the date out. I contacted Mike with my questions - he was very curt with his answers, so I got my husband on the phone because maybe I wasn't asking the questions correctly. My husband asked should we put the chemicals in because it was going to rain. Mike first replied that we had not signed up for chemicals, shortly correcting himself after going back and reading our contract. My husband went on to ask if they would be brushing and vacuuming the pool after opening. Mike replied that "we obviously didn't read the contract" and went on to read exactly what they WOULD be doing which did not include any vacuuming or scrubbing. My husband stated that as new pool owners, this was all new to us and that we were looking at DPS for their expertise! He said this would be our first opening and that DPS could "make alot of money from us not knowing what to do and we really liked how they did business." Mike mentioned about our heater, and we told him we got that replaced. He asked who did the work and when we told him Anthony & Sylvan, he became very quiet. Nonetheless, we kept the scheduled date and ended the call. Less than 3 mins later, Mike called back and asked me to get my husband on the call. When I did, Mike stated that he was going to "REFUSE TO SERVICE our pool because we didn't read his contract!" We were stunned!! I said because we asked questions?? He was adamant that was the reason. I said "let's be transparent here, Mike, what is the REAL reason you are refusing?" He said because we "had Anthony & Sylvan do our heater and didn't ask him for a quote!" How petty! We weren't even aware DPS DID pool heaters because he never mentioned it last year when he came out AND this year, we were only on his site to request to get on the schedule. Our heater had been replaced by then! He also went on to tell us that we are "not going to tell him HOW TO MAKE MONEY by suggesting that he could make a lot of money from US because he already has a lot of clients and did not need to make money from us!" I told him it was very unfortunate that he behaved in such an unprofessional manner, because we really liked last year's service, wished him & his business the best, and ended the call. No use using airtime with a person so arrogant and unprofessional. I still do not understand how he could "refuse service of a signed" because someone else did our heater (which was never contracted with DPS) but I'll leave that for my lawyer to figure out....

Whatever scale of satisfaction I would be presented with, I would give them the highest rating. Customer service is the highest, and the friendliest I have received in such a long time! Our pool liner needed to be replaced so we needed new a pool water. We have a well, and did not want to deplete our personal source of water. The first time I called for pricing, Shannon was extremely friendly, willing to answer all of my questions, and her only request, is that because of our location, if we could schedule it on a day other than Friday, because it would be greatly appreciated due to congestion in our area, and how long it would take the drivers to deliver the water. They would however not deny those deliveries, but wanted to set expectations due to congestions. Every time I called, Shannon was just as friendly and helpful, even offering suggestions, which increased my feeling of trust with the company. We have a large pool, holding more than 5 - 6000 gallon tankers of water, so I certainly understood that request! It was a surprise to see how large a 6000 gallon tanker is when it pulled up in front of our house. The liner company called me with a last minute install date of just a few days. I called, and left a message for Shannon, and I was surprised when she called me, from the beach, to confirm that they could accommodate our quick turn-around. That is amazing customer service that rarely happens! Brandon, was our water technician, and was a joy to work with. He is courteous, respectful, friendly, and willing to get the job done with the least amount of impact to your property. I would highly recommend him as well. It took 2 days to fill our pool. They came, as scheduled at 1pm, after the pool was installed ( we received 3 truck loads and we asked him to finish the next day). Brandon came back the next day and completed the filling as we had asked. We ended up with 5-6000 gallons of water. Just so you know, I called several places, in Middletown, DE, PA, and Maryland. Our location is not in the zone for firehouses, public works, and some of the water delivery companies do not go above Smyrna. I also called another place in Elkton, MD, and the guy was very cranky, and when I asked if there was a military discount, of which my husband is a disabled veteran, he growled "the price is the price"! The liner company we used is Best Pool Liners, which I would never recommend, and will provide a separate yelp review on them. The pool liner installer threatened twice to "fing pull out the liner" when we asked about the seams in the liner" based on their sales persons promises. Drama we did not expect, or need.
