Used to be awesome...with the "kids" running the show now and the senior leadership absent, place has gone down hill fast. Attention to detail suffering...have had friends and colleagues and myself suffer the following as just a few examples: sponge piece in salad, piece of plastic in wrap, rancid piece of chicken, bad/nasty lettuce (the lettuce freshness was always the best part!?!), food tasting "off". It's too bad, but it happens when management takes their eye off the ball and focuses on expansion instead of the principles that made them great in the first place. Would love to see them get back to where it was when they opened, but it's tough to get customers back once their confidence in the product is rattled. read more

Good quality food. Weird location, weird setup. They have tried to make it a "fast casual" thing a la Chipotle or Subway, but personally I would just simplify it into 6-8 standard dishes and a few specials. Our lacrosse team was in Vero for spring break, and we took a team of hungry girls to Chive after a game. Not only did the girls get fed really quickly, but the food was fresh and delicious and the staff was GREAT. The staff helped move 25 people effortlessly through a line and even made more guacamole when they ran out. As far as taste alone goes, I give them 4 stars. I only had soup (lobster bisque) so I cannot claim to be an expert on all of their food. We recently ordered some food from Chive for lunch - 2 others ordered a salad, I was not that hungry so I thought I'd try the soup. I have looked online at the menus and they say it is $6 for the lobster bisque but I believe this soup was seemingly a bargain at $4-something (maybe I read the paper menu wrong). The person who placed the order over the phone told me the price came to $6-something (for tax & maybe a delivery fee, I suppose). They asked me how much change did I want back from my $10 bill - I said $2.50. When the delivery person brought the food I heard him tell our orderer - he said something like "Huh $2.50?" as if coins were something ridiculous that he should be expected to be carrying. So basically I wound up with $2 in change and the soup was tiny. I took pictures of the container with my cell phone because I thought the size was a joke. I will end on a + note: the soup tasted very good - just not enough of it and not worth $8 (nor $7.50) in my opinion. Update: I am increasing my rating to 4 stars - after the above 3 star review I received a nice letter from Chive with my .50 cents also the letter mentioned a $25 gift cert but it was missing (someone else in the office must have taken it?). Boom, great find. We where in town buying something off Craigslist. We brought our dog and where looking for some place that was dog friendly. They have some covered tables outside. The review that said this place is chipotle on crack, was pretty accurate. It's the same idea just with way better fixins. We wound up ordering lobster roll with a side of Mac and cheese and a chicken chili soup. A where excellent. If this place was close I would come here once a week. Someone ordered the ahi tuna on butter lettuce. It looked awesome. Staff was super nice and place was clean. Worth a try for sure. read more

Maybe the negative reviews are not being posted, I had a cup of lobster bisque, not good with a sour taste, philly cheesesteak with toasted soft roll,,maybe 3 ounces of chewy beef, a little cheese and sautéed onions/peppers and was offered an array of other toppings. Simply unlike any Philly Cheese Steak Ive had, not in a good way. The $3.00 can of soda was good. The total came to $17.90. I would expect Fabulous for this pricing. The counter help asked me how it was when I was leaving and I told him the bisque had a sour taste but the soda was good. He walked away. read more

Just went to Chive's new location for the first time for a take-out lunch and was so disappointed. I've never had a bad meal at Chive-ever. Today it was almost inedible. Both my friend and I had a ninja salad and a ninja bowl-both missing the scrambled egg (a major component). The veggies seamed to be steamed rather than grilled, as they were quite mushy. And worst of all the shrimp were like gel! So gross! Clearly defrosted frozen shrimp that were flash cooked. I really hope this one bad meal was due to them working out kinks in the new location and maybe training new people. I'll give them another try but not for a long while. As far as the ambiance goes, the outdoor area looks very nice but inside seems very industrial and unwelcoming to me. It was extremely loud and is set up like a true deli counter. read more

My husband and I found this place on Yelp and decided to give it a try for lunch on our way to South Florida. It has a wide range of very fresh, interesting selections. Their fresh fish was wahoo, which made my husband very happy, as it is his favorite and rare to find. I had a shrimp Po Boy. The shrimp were nicely seasoned and cooked perfectly. The staff was very helpful in figuring out exactly what we wanted. There are lots of options for toppings and sauces. We will definitely come again next time we are in Vero. read more

Sadly we didn't share the majority of reviews for this place. The food definitely looked fresh and the place was clean, but this is more of a salad and taco type place. My husband had the mahi but didn't realize it was being served over a bed of lettuce or a salad. Not what he expected. He wanted a mahi sandwich and thought the salad would b on the side. The Mahi was fresh and good just not what he wanted. I had Mac and cheese, lobster bisque and lobster sandwich. The Mac and cheese was way too salty to eat and the bisque was like a tomato bisque, not a lobster bisque. The lobster sandwich was fabulous with ample chunks of lobster. The manager came to our table and asked for feedback and did refund our money on the bisque and brought potato salad to replace the Mac and cheese, so atleast the restaurant cares about your dining experience. The aftertaste of the coke was the taste of chlorinated bad city water. Using Filtered water for the coke would have eliminated this awful taste. The menu is a bit hard to understand, so ask questions before you order. All in all, I would say this place would be great for salad lovers, as they had several fresh items that you could add to any of your dishes. Just not for us. read more

Nothing about this place is good. No atmosphere despite the fact it is on water - no view. I got slow roasted pork on beans and rice. Dry pork! The dish was mostly poor quality, tasteless rice with a sprinkling of mixed beans. The salsa fresca was so not fresca. It wasn't inedible, but it was pointless. This place was kinda weird, probably won't go back after our first try. The restaurant was SUPER Smokey inside, so we sat outside. The setup is basically self serve on all counts but tips seem to be expected. My wife got a Caesar salad that was good. My meal was a strange combo of hot quinoa and squash on top of a fresh greed salad. This ended up being a pile of Luke warm wilted green and foot veggies that were really not even well seasoned. The staff was friendly, but seemed distracted. I also had a fish taco takeout with them in the past that was a 2/5 at best: soggy, over cooked fish, no vibrant flavor. read more

This place went above and beyond to accommodate my 2 year old sons allergies. I called ahead to make sure they had gluten free options as well as dairy free (he's allergic to both). I spoke with Kyle, who by the way was incredibly helpful and professional, and I told him about my sons allergies and he said they could make something special for him. We talked about the options and we decided on a corn tortilla quesadilla with guacamole inside (no cheese). He told me to call about 30 mins before we were to come so that they could gather the ingredients for him and have it ready. We were treated with such kindness by everyone and we will definitely be going back for more. My mom and I both ordered the seared ahi tuna salads and they were wonderful! read more
