I stopped in for an early lunch, which from my point of thinking is always the best! My previous visits here had been very enjoyable, good food in well sized portions, and quick service. I ordered 2 lunch specials at $8.55 - Scallion Chicken and Beef in Garlic Sauce. Each came with Egg Fried Rice, Egg Drop Soup, and 2 small Spring Rolls. The Scallion Chicken was not a bad dish, but neither did it reach the level of a good dish. Why is it so hard for Chinese American restaurants to cook Scallion Chicken in a manner that does not result in gobs of gooey? And who decided that that particular cut of carrot was the right one for stir fries it is almost always overcooked! The Beef in Garlic Sauce was simply a flavorless mess, loaded with extraneous vegetables, including the particularly awful baby corn. I have had this dish at Jade Garden and China House, and both were very tasty! The baby corn is,in fact, regular corn that is picked while the corn is still immature, and has not yet developed the sweet corn taste most folks love - in fact, it has no flavor. It is loaded into stir fry dishes in Chinese American restaurants to make the dish seem larger. While it is used in China, it is not a staple. Most such corn is used in Thai, Indo-Chinese, or Chinese American dishes, mainly stir-fries. Most of the world supply comes from Thailand, and it is either canned or frozen, rarely if ever is it fresh. The Egg Drop Soup was very under seasoned, and the Spring Rolls needed a good amount of hot mustard. I may try some other items here, but certainly not these two! read more

This has been my go to restaurant for Chinese food for many years. However recent changes are forcing me to now look elsewhere. I love the won ton soup, but the portion now is about a third less and the same price. The egg rolls are good, but they also are about a third smaller. With a combination, you got egg drop soup. No more. Also, with soup you got fried noodles, no more. So sorry, if you want to keep my business, go back to the serving sizes and extras as they were. read more

So of course we hit up the local Chinese restaurant for take out...that meant a call into China Wok at the 189 Lowes Foods Dr location in Lewisville, back beside Lowes Foods grocery store. I decided to go for the C6 combination item on their menu (my parents had it handy so they must be regular customers)...Pork Lo Mein Combination that includes choice of rice and egg roll. I would have preferred Beef Lo Mein but that was not available as a combination offering. We rode over and they had it all ready right on time. Even on what appeared to be a busy night for them, they handled it like clockwork. There was a fairly good portion in the takeout container (see pic). Everything was fresh tasting and delicious, not boring or ho-hum, I really did like this takeout...yes, it is Americanized Chinese food but that does not stop it from being a pretty tasty takeout meal. This no frills Chinese take-out joint located next to Lowe's Foods in Lewisville will get you hooked up with any of your favorites efficiently, for a low price, and with a smile on their face. Particularly at lunch time, where a lunch special will run you just 6 or 7 bucks. I came in for one of those lunch specials, the ole stand-by General Tso's chicken. My food was ready within 10 minutes, the more than ample portion of chicken was crispy in a flavorful sauce with just a hint of spice. It came with a nice size scoop of vegetable fried rice and a crispy egg roll. It wasn't anything remarkable, but I certainly would order it again. It fully met my expectations, and the lady at the counter was very friendly. If you plan to eat in, just be prepared the dining area is very sparse, this is mainly a take-out place. read more

I learned while visiting that there's not a big selection for Chinese Food in the immediate Lewisville township. Sure if you want to go further away the choices grow, but that's not the point. However I was happy to stumble across China Wok 2 while in town visiting friends. We were actually on our way to get some groceries at Lowes Foods next door and stopped into China Wok 2 first and placed our orders. I could be wrong but I'm pretty sure we ordered off the lunch menu. I had a beef and broccoli meal and upgraded the regular fried rice to a veggie fried rice and that also came with an option of soup or an egg roll. I opted for the egg roll. I don't recall but I think both of my friends had the General Tso's Chicken. They also opted for the pork egg rolls. Upon returning about 20-25 minutes later our lunch was ready and off to the house we went. China Wok 2 puts everything into one container, which makes it easier for mixing things up after adding your various sauces and such. I was pleased with the vegetable mixture and kudo's for the mini ears of corn thrown in. I haven't seen those in a while. It was a solid meal portion wise and the taste was excellent as well. All the food was very fresh and fully cooked. I'm looking forward to another visit here in the future. Hopefully this coming summer. Pretty basic/standard food, but wasn't bad. I got sweet and sour chicken for lunch and my friend got sesame chicken, we both enjoyed our food and it was exactly what we expected it to be. The inside is pretty run down, but the food is done pretty quickly so you can easily walk in, order, and head out to eat somewhere outdoors or at home where the atmosphere is maybe a tad bit more inviting and exciting. Definitely better options in the area I'm from, but I wasn't upset with China Wok. I would eat there again if I was craving Chinese food while in the area. read more

January 2020. First of all, I have eaten at MANY Chinese restaurants including authentic Chinese in NYC, not the Americanized stuff that most places sell. We ordered the "chicken" fried rice and "chicken" lo mein. I purposely put the "chicken" in quotes because there is NO WAY that is actual chicken. I have had chicken boiled, fried, baked, burnt and nearly raw and that stuff DID NOT TASTE AT ALL LIKE CHICKEN!!! I mean, EVERYTHING is supposed to taste like chicken. Right?? Not this stuff. I spit it out. I could not bring myself to swallow it and I will eat almost anything. And do. It almost looked breaded and boiled. WHITE. As a sheet of paper. Very un-natural. The texture was more like a hard tofu but chewy. It's difficult (making me queasy) to write about. My wife was pissed. My son-grossed out. After I tasted it, I wouldn't let my daughter eat it. I gave them 1 star because the general tso chicken was alright, almost good. But BEWARE THE "CHICKEN" or whatever the hell it is!!!! Also, the menu pictures are WAY outdated and prices went up considerably. Ask for prices when you call. IF you call... I recommend finding somewhere else to eat. I am not ever going back. read more

This place is SO worth the extra drive into Lewisville. The family who runs it is so sweet and always makes you smile when you go in. I have tried all the recommended places in WS and this place beats them every time. Also, please do not confuse them with China Wok on Country Club. China Wok is right across the street from work and the only chinese joint in Lewisville. I've ordered lunch there several times and always stick with the shrimp with lobster sauce. Comes with egg roll or soup. Portions are large enough for a meal and a snack for five around five bucks. No complaints until this week. I tried the hot and spicy shrimp. I swear if blindfolded I would think I was eating rice, shrimp, and that red sauce in every Chef Boyardee can. Very nasty. This wont deter me from eating there again, but it will keep me from trying other dishes other than shrimp and lobster sauce. And I notice the kitchen screen door is ALWAYS open. This place has become a regular fixture in my list of restaurant options on the nights when I don't feel like cooking. Amazing food and very generous portions that I can never finish in one sitting.
