Since I had not been all that pleased with the buffet the last few times, I decided to order off the menu. I chose Crispy Scallion Chicken combo with fried rice and an egg roll, and a pint of Black Pepper Chicken, both for take out. The order was ready in just over 15 minutes, and I was off, and unfortunately so was the food. The Crispy Scallion Chicken was far, far from crispy. It was mostly batter, soggy and bland, even covered by a sauce that brought a little heat, but even more sweetness. The fried rice and the egg roll were average at best. The Black Pepper Chicken was more of the same. There was a cloying sweetness and more vegetables than Jason's Deli's salad bar. This is our favorite place to get good and affordable Chinese food! When we come to pick up our food, the place is clean and inviting, and the hostess at the cashier stand is friendly and helpful too. We've only ever ordered takeout here, because they have the buffet only available during lunch hours. We usually order either the sweet-and-sour chicken combo, Singapore mei fun, black pepper chicken combo, or the sesame chicken combo. The Singapore mei fun is a delicious indulgence for me, and the spice is mild. Definitely a great place to get weekly or daily take out! read more

Not sure on how i feel about this restaurant, it is bigger than I thought , they offer buffet from 12 to 3pm we got there around 5pm or so and was greeted right away and seated the place was empty not one other customer inside they did have a few take out orders but that was it So let's start with Crab Rangoon 8 out of 10 taste goods Fried pork wontons 7 out of 10 the wonton was nice and crispy and have a decent flavor. But did not go with the sauce that they gave you would work better with a garlic or teriyaki sauce instead Orange chicken with fried rice and a egg roll 8.5 out of 10 You can taste the orange zest on it ,nice and crispy chicken will eat it again . Boneless BBQ ribs with beef fried rice with extra egg and a egg roll 6 out of 10 The rice was the saving factor in this dish the boneless ribs gave me a beef jerky taste and feel to it the bbq sauce was not it as well the eggs rolls was not bad Garlic beef with vegetables and fried rice 8 out of 10 Had a great taste some snap peas, which we love added steam, broccoli but we got white rice instead of the fried rice but I did not make a big deal out of it ,tasted good so no complaints The service was great ,the restaurant looks good inside , must of the food was good not the best but still good I think I will give it another shot down the line but something just make me not want to go back but maybe I was just not having a great day or something you be the judge when you come and try for yourself, I think next time I'm going to try the duck read more

I would rank this place a 3.5 if that was an option. This is our first time at a buffet since covid began and it feels somehow very naughty! They are taking precautions and have gloves available as well as masks. The food was all pretty good, not exceptional and not bad, pretty much as expected for Chinese buffet fare. It's a relatively small selection compared to other buffets but I didn't miss anything- all your usual staples are here. This is one of the only buffet options open these days and it was a fun experience to be back in one however it did seem that a good amount of the food had been sitting out and was not at its best. We were in clemmons and I decided to give this place a try. We came in around 14:30, so not the best time to come to a buffet since the lunch crowd has left and they are winding down. The selection was was sparse, but they very kindly offered to cook anything I asked for. I felt the customer service was very professional and nice. I need to come back during lunch time and and try out the buffet when it is at it's tops. It's a little out of the way but way bigger than it looks on the outside. Updating my review because they are still going strong, and I would crown them as new champs of Americanized Chinese food in the area! If you got a better suggestion, I'd love to hear it. I do wish they would offer a dinner buffet, but the lunch is solid! The egg rolls are terrific, and even the soup noodles are being made fresh. I do wish they would offer some wonton soup, but they do occasionally offer different options. I've yet to have a bad bite here. I found out today from the owner that they are coming up on 30 years operating in Clemmons next month! That is an amazing accomplishment to say the least, and one that I will plan to celebrate by stuffing myself until I can't fit out the front door! After that, I will wait to get thinner by helping myself to another plate! The price is even a dollar less than Lin's kitchen and frankly for far better quality of food! The ambiance is better too, with some more typical buffet fare such as pictures to look at on the walls and some prototypical Chinese restaurant music playing softly overhead. There's a fine line you have to walk if you want to be a tasty Chinese buffet. People like variety, but they also like food to be fresh. Most people come to buffets because they want a variety of tastes, but not so many that they could never try everything, or would even want to. I think Mandarin has found the perfect balance of these things... and on my first visit last week, I was treated to a really nice selection of chinese dishes without all the fluff of things like sub-par pizza, spaghetti, and all the other crap larger buffets plop down to claim they have more stuff than anyone. What I got was a nice chinese meal. A good variety of proteins were available, along with rice, noodles, all your favorite fried apps like egg rolls and rangoons, a couple soups, and then a light selection of sweets for dessert. All of it was fresh, and the price was very right. The highlight here was a spicy thai chili chicken. Think of a spicier and crispier version of General Tso chicken. The chunks are smaller, but have a firm shell texture and a little spice to go with the sweet. Also, the shrimp in their seafood dishes were a really good size, and jalapeno pepper beef was awesome. Definitely going to come back here. Don't let the outdated shopping center dissuade you, count on the experience of a place that has been around this long! read more

Underwhelmed would be an understatement in this case. I ordered scallion chicken (decidedly not crispy), chicken chow mein, curry chicken, chicken with hot garlic sauce, pork spring rolls, and crab rangoons. The crab rangoons were a no show, the chow mein was an odd watery chicken with cabbage and some really thick fried bread-like "noodles" with several pieces of oddly pinkish chicken, and the others had combinations of veggies I've never seen in the dishes at other restaurants. This was my first time eating here in about three years, so I'm not really sure what's happened. The reviews and previous experiences didn't line up with the reality of this visit. read more

This place may look small but don't let it fool you! Spacious on the inside and owner is very nice. They only offer lunch buffet from 11-3. IMO it's better than Tin Tin. Their food has more depth and flavor although not as much selection as Tin Tin but it's more than enough. Price is reasonable. read more

Went in to eat and for 5-10 minutes, not a single person came and asked what we wanted to drink within that time. However, they asked a group of 4 Latino people what they wanted IMMEDIATELY when they sat down. We are white (myself and the person I was with). That should never be a detail to bring up in service (short staffed or not). I am beyond irate. Normally when I leave a review, I don't want nor care for a response. But I do this time. I was greeted when I walked in with an apology that they did not offer a buffet evening and asked if I minded ordering off the menu. That was fine and I ordered the shrimp egg roll and boneless duck. The egg roll was very large and contained cabbage and shrimp. It was delicious. The boneless duck was amazing. I was served a very large portion of perfectly cooked duck with an assortment of vegetables. The duck had crispy skin with delicious portions of duck breast and just the right amount of fat. My partner and I came here after a good climbing session at The Rock Box. We were very hungry and got here 50 minutes til close. We were surprised to see how well stocked all of the dishes were, and really enjoyed everything we tried. I don't know the names of all the dishes we tried, but I'd venture to say we tried almost everything, and we not disappointed. I will say that my partner wasn't pleased with the desserts but that pretty typical from what we hear, regarding Chinese Buffets. it was February 28th of this year. me and my parents were looking forward to having a celebration for the leap year by trying some new foods. while my mother went to the Aldi's nearby to get groceries on a rainy day, I stumbled upon this restaurant. I was a little nervous because I had never eaten here before, but I tried some chicken noodle thing and left. what I was not prepared for were the excruciating pains I would feel soon after. this food gave me and my father FOOD POISONING. Ordered 3 meals, soup and appetizers and had delivered. The delivery was great as it arrived in good shape, still warm and early. My daughters Szechuan tofu and my Szechuan chicken had very little flavor and almost no heat. It is listed as spicy but that was the least spicy Chinese food I have ever had. My wife's General Tso chicken was very good. The appetizers (crab Rangoon and ribs) were good as well. The fortune cookies and noodles were very stale but that didn't matter to us as we did not want them anyway. May give them another try but request extra spicy as they must be holding back to please their regular customers. read more

Prior to eating at this restaurant, we had never had bad Chinese food. It had always been at least "good". This was terrible. I am not exaggerating when I say that the rice actually tasted rotten. It was inedible unless it was mixed with sauce from the meat, but we neglected to eat it out of concern for food poisoning. Our family agreed that the egg rolls tasted like sauerkraut. Perhaps they had been sitting out for so long, or the cabbage was so old that it had fermented and become rotten. Typically, in Chinese restaurants, the vegetables in a dish are cooked alongside the meat, so that they are soft and somewhat sauteed. At this restaurant, the vegetables seemed uncooked. It would appear that they cook the meats for the buffet, and just add the vegetables to the single plates, with little to no cooking. To top it all off, there was almost no chicken in our chicken pieces. It was mostly batter. We will never be back. read more

Yum yum chicken with extra yum sauce...think that says it all. It has been a little while since we ate here. I have to say it was much, much better then our last visit. The buffet isn't huge, but there is no American, Mexican, or Japanese just Chinese! Last several times the food seem to be all batter no meat. Today was far from that. They used to have a bourbon chicken that was very good. Didn't see it today, but they had a new item "yum yum chicken". It was plain chicken pieces that had been fried in a peppery batter. But it had a sauce, it was like a hoisin sauce, very good! The buffet stayed full the whole time we were there. They refilled everything, and it was very fresh. My wife had the fried rice, lots of pork, egg, and veggies. I had the lo mein which was very good. I didn't like the egg roll or spring roll. Decent, but not great Chinese food, reasonably priced. But you're probably not going to find any better Chinese in the area. I got take-out from here recently, and ordered spring rolls, kung pao shrimp, and moo shu chicken. The spring rolls were really good - crispy and full of yummy cabbage and shredded carrot. The kumg pao shrimp was BIG - we ordered the large, and it certainly delivered on that promise. It was served with two sides of rice. It was good, but it didn't really taste like kung pao, it was more of a general Chinese flavor, and not a lot of spice. Also, the shrimp seemed like they had been breaded, which was a bit odd. The moo shu chicken was also a really large serving, but only came with 4 pancakes - not enough for the amount of filling provided. It came with tasty duck sauce for flavor - pretty good! read more
