Been getting takeout from here for many years. It is the best place for takeout in GSO. The food is always very fresh, and they give you plenty. The people there are so very friendly and helpful if you don't understand a menu item. I have never seen this restaurant in any condition except, extremely clean. All the menu items I have had have never disappointed me. One of my very favorites is the Moo Goo Pan, sometimes with fried rice, sometimes white. It is the best I have ever had in any restaurant, everything freshly cooked and plenty of it. Their egg drop soup is amazing, my father always said that soup could cure anything. There is nothing on their menu that you could go wrong with.It is all delicious from top to bottom. It is in Guilford College area in the small shopping center next to the post office. So I didn't give it a 1 star because I got Japanese from a Chinese restaurant. But I wanted hibachi, and I wanted to try hibachi I haven't had yet (I've had them all it seems). First off, the rice test. Cooked well but it was extremely salty due to the excessive sauce. Second, the shrimp was not fresh or stored improperly. Had a tainted smell and way too fishy of a taste. Steak was even worse quality as I couldn't even finish half of it. It was predominantly gristle! Funny enough, they cooked it medium! The way I asked, and that was the only way I could even bite through some of it. The vegetables were okay. No seasoning. Let's end on some good points. The gentleman at the counter was friendly. Really good Chinese takeout! My girlfriend picked us up a variety of items for a girls night in and we really enjoyed the food. We ordered Happy Family with rice, spring rolls, egg rolls and steamed dumplings. The dumplings were definitely my favorite, so good and the perfect texture; the dipping sauce was super flavorful...really fantastic(I also dipped my spring roll in it...yum)! The egg rolls & spring rolls were tasty and nicely cooked; the meat & veggies in the Happy Family was good. We are almost everything and we would definitely order takeout again very soon! This is a tiny, takeout only place with a very big menu - seriously the menu is " XXL ". The portion are huge, the prices are more than reasonable, the food is your typical Americanized-Chinese fare, and the service is very good. I've only tried the Crispy Scallion Chicken and the Peking Chicken (both lunch combo's), but both were pretty good - a few too many extraneous vegetables, but still good. The Egg Roll is also nice, not at all greasy. The fried rice that comes with the their lunch and dinner combs is Chicken Fried Rice, and I just don;t care for the chicken in it - thin & dry. Finally!!! I found a good quick Chinese takeout spot somewhat close to where I live. I don't want to have to get on the highway to go somewhere like Golden Wok to get takeout Chinese food. Luckily that doesn't have to happen anymore. I went here for lunch and was ready to eat. I ordered the crispy scallion chicken. The lunch comes with rice and an egg roll. It was very good. The flavor of the sauce was very tasty. Chicken was cooked perfect and the egg roll was good as well. They give you a pretty big portion considering it was lunch. No longer my go to spot. Honestly off the list. I saw and experienced too many wrong things to want to go back for a while. Called in my order(8:38) and was told 15 minutes. Arrived to pick up my food at 9. Food wasn't ready, but didn't acknowledge the fact it hadn't even started. Finally got an order at 9:15 and something said check it to make sure. Didn't check it inside because there was a customer with some type of respiratory issue from the way he coughed. Even thou he was in and out checking on his order, wasn't taking any chances. The order was wrong. No where close to mines. Advised even thou the order number was right, I didn't order shrimp. Finally left with the correct order at 9:30. Saw the person taking order literally take the food I returned with and put it back on the counter after I told him I upped both meals up outside. Major health violation. I ordered 2 orange flavored chicken combinations. At least 6 people waiting over 30-45 minutes getting the wrong orders. Once I finally got the right order, the tasted off. Flavor was good and pork fried rice was really off, not too mention over cooked hard pieces. As pictured I found this piece of whatever. Glad I didn't bite down on this. This was my first time ordering from this establishment as my go to is Golden Wok on Bridford Parkway. My family & and I will not be ordering from here again as my experience here with both food and customer service was unsatisfactory. For reference, The fried chicken was overcooked and salty. The chicken chow mien was not in fact chow mien (we received no noodles and the online menu was not user friendly when it came to making specifications. The meal also had large chunks of unsliced onion & pieces of celery and the fried rice was not properly cooked and with visible grains of plain white rice mixed in. I called to explain dissatisfaction and was denied my request of a partial credit as a solution and was instead offered a store credit, which is something I would not use due to the quality and taste of this order. read more

I hear City Dragon is under new management. Unfortunately, the food is not what it was. It just lacks flavor now and everything seems smaller and there have been many price increases. This was the only Chinese we ate for years, at least once a week and it was fantastic, and the staff was wonderful. I'm sad it has gone so far down hill. I've tried them 3 times since the sale but will not be going back. I hope they read these newer reviews and take something from them. Ms. Eileen who answers the phone is very sweet!! The food is cheap, hot and good!!! Don't confuse combo with dinner. Combo is the cheaper price and it comes in a plastic box container. When you don't order combo, everything is charged separately FYI. There are times when they over fry the meat so when I call up there, I tell Ms. Eileen very nicely to use a fresh batch of meat and she will accommodate. I thought our last Chinese restaurant experience in this area was subpar, but this made it look gourmet. My husband and daughter decided to give this a try and ordered one of my standards, the sesame chicken, for me. I hoisted the box, which weighed a couple of pounds and the contents looked delectable, except for the fact that there were almost no sesame seeds. There might have been 1/4 tsp. sprinkled over the top of the chunks, but that was it. There was a mound of pieces and a lot of rice. I thought, if nothing else, it was going to be a decent value. I first the eggroll, which was standard. I then speared one of the chunks and gave it a try. Hmmm.....nothing but breading. I figured it must be an anomaly. I opened up chunk after chunk, it was all the same. Nothing but fried globs of fried breading in a gelatinous sweet sauce with little flavor. I can't tell you how indescribably disappointed I was. I've never run into anything like this. I asked my daughter how her General Tso's was and she was running into the same thing. My husband said his Kung Pao chicken was also pretty much nothing but breading. I just about never leave food, it's just against my principles. But I left this in the box. I didn't bother with the "chicken" rice, as it was all rice with barely a trace of chicken and didn't have much flavor. Maybe they ran out of chicken and tried to just pass off the breading, but I'm at least a bit more discerning than that. I'll probably never know because we certainly won't be going back. read more

I gave it a 4 out of 5 for what this place is: Inexpensive Chinese take out. In that category, they are the best I've had in the area. If you want better overall Chinese, then you have to spend some more money at a place like Phoenix. Only reason I don't go 5 stars is I think the sauce on SOME of their food is a little heavy and the flavor of the food would come through better with a lighter/thinner sauce. But that's just me. I'm a dumpling junkie. Love em. Can't get enough of them. City Dragon does them right with great ginger sauce to go with. As others have said, the portions are very generous. If you're on a budget and/or watching your calories, get a combo you can split with someone or order food in pints, not quarts unless you're going to share. They pack those cartons full. Their wonton soup has nice big wontons and they have spring rolls that are very tasty. The service couldn't be better: Fast, friendly, easy to understand over the phone, willing to reasonably modify how food is prepared. I have an obnoxious coworker friend from NY that likes to run her mouth and yammer on endlessly how everything up there is better (hmmm.... and yet she chooses to live in the Triad) but she concedes this Chinese take out is pretty good. So if you're from the NE and like to be obnoxious when you tawwwwk, this just might meet your standards. Definitely worth checking out. read more

My boyfriend and I recently found this place and have been going back for more since! I always get the General Tao's Chicken extra spicy and it always taste delicious. It has more meat than batter (which is rare for Chinese takeouts) and cooked perfectly. My boyfriend has tried an assortment on the menu and have liked all of them -- he especially likes the Chicken Fried Rice and would even say it taste better than some local Hibachi places! And the portion size is well worth the reasonable price. This is definitely the best Chinese takeout we've tried in the Triad and would give it more than five stars if we could. Let me preface this by saying we've been getting takeout from this restaurant for 15-20 years. I know it was sold to someone new and there were a few changes. First they changed the egg rolls. Now they are smaller with mushy vegetables. Ok I can live without egg rolls. Wednesday I got shrimp with Chinese vegetables. It was tasteless. We got. Chicken wings. They were heavily breaded. I'm not a fan. The menu says it comes with 8 to an order. We got 6! So change your menu. Needless to say we won't be going back. I'm really sorry about that. read more

I cannot tell you how thrilled I am to have found City Dragon. Delicious and cheap Chinese can be really difficult to find but City Dragon does not disappoint. Unfortunately it is only takeout and does not deliver, but is definitely worth the drive. They give you a lot of food for very little money. The portions are huge and they offer a lot of different combinations. I particularly like the sesame chicken with broccoli and fried rice and my boyfriend like the General Tso's chicken which is spicy and delicious. They also sell Chinese donuts which are deep fried rolls of deliciousness. I would highly recommend City Dragon for delicious and inexpensive Chinese food. read more

Used to live nearby but I moved to Charlotte and cannot find a Chinese takeout place that I like as much as City Dragon. Quality, consistent food and very friendly staff. In the combos, they will substitute any type of fried rice or white rice for free and a spring roll for egg roll for 25 cents. Atmosphere is fine for a takeout place. Also a very good value. They have reasonable portions and prices, friendly people, super fast, and tasty. I've lived less than a half mile from here for 8 years now. I was given several things by one person I could sub for egg rolls, but she failed to mention any of them carried an upcharge. I was treated by the other girl there like I had done something wrong - while the one who gave me the list just stood there with her mouth open. The militant one proceeded to give me the complete run down "so I would know." You needn't have bothered. I won't be back. Chinese take out joints are a dime a dozen and I don't need to deal with one who acts this way. Iris make our food perfect. My family loves City dragon. This is hands down the best takeout. Chose them for a small (40 people) catering order, and they totally delivered - literally! Staff was incredibly helpful and accommodating to allergies, food was delivered HOT and fresh, and most importantly it was delicious! I ordered Kung Pao chicken with no vegetables and crab rangoons. The person that took my order said she wasn't sure how the chef would cook my order with no vegetables. 20 minutes later I got my food. The chicken was breaded, and the sauce was a water consisitency. ( most Kung Pao chicken does not have breading and the sauce is thick). The crab rangoons have so many onions in them, that is all I can taste! I won't be going back read more
