My last review of takeout from CC was less than stellar, but I'm happy to say that the cook has redeemed themself the last two times we have eaten at the restaurant. Food tasted sour, sent it back and still had issues, ended up throwing up in the parking lot. The food basically tasted sour like rice and veggies that were starting to go bad. It wasn't the whole dish but I would get a weird taste Chef probably thought he could hide the taste behind the spicy food. Rice was not fresh it looked like at least a couple days old because even warm it looked like day old rice you use for fried rice not the fresh rice you should be serving as steamed rice. Rice is pretty cheap their shouldn't be an issue throwing out rice that has gone bad. Most likely someone on the kitchen tried to save some rice in the fridge that was going bad instead of doing a fresh batch. Not sure but that is the exact smell and taste of rice going sour. Wish this didn't happen because the king pao sauce was good and the waitress was super sweet and kind. Also they had their own chili paste that tasted homemade. To the owner: if you reach out and let me know you have made corrective actions I'll go ahead and change the review, I've worked in kitchens shit happens but you should have a kitchen process to keep things in rotation and food fresh. read more

Another average Chinese Restaurant in the area. Staff were friendly and efficient. The restaurant itself was pleasant to be in. The food was neither great or horrible. I would point out that the beef Teriyaki had really good flavor and would make an excellent beef jerky. It didn't make a great beef Teriyaki stick. I was very happy that they had bone in ribs. One Day back in early November 2023 my wife and I were out looking at houses and happened to be in High Point, NC. It was about 1:00pm so we wanted to stop somewhere for lunch and happened to see a Chinese Restaurant and stopped there. We walked in and received a warm welcome and was seated right away. We also received Fast and Friendly Service in this small lovely comfortable restaurant. The food is delicious!!! My Wife ordered the Orange Chicken and said it is the best she's had! I ordered the Hot and Spicy Chicken, Delicious!!! We've been back several times for lunch and once for dinner, each time my wife got the orange chicken and I've ordered different chicken dinners and all is Delicious!!! Ordered here for the first time take out. Everyone enjoyed their choices the pork fried rice was the most outstanding. Beef and broccoli was enjoyed by everyone just different than what I've been used to. Egg rolls needed a little work! Steamed and fried dumplings were fresh and excellent and one of the highlights was the boneless spareribs! Beef lo mein was slightly salty but the beef was plentiful and very tender. Service was quick for the pickup and the place was jammed always a good sign. The ambiance inside was inviting a very warm atmosphere and it was refreshing to find a sit down establishment as I feel these places are far and few between now. Would def go eat in next time for full experience. I've def. Had better Chinese food but this place was very very good and would t hesitate to go back again! read more

China Capital has been around for a long time. I'm going to guess it opened in the late 80s/early 90s. Those are my earliest memories of this place and I think it was new back then. I distinctly remember the business selling bootleg Game Boy games from Asia in a display case near the front of the store (as a kid, I almost couldn't believe it). Ownership has changed since that time, perhaps more than once. After not visiting for I estimate well over two decades, I finally returned for dinner recently. The food wasn't bad. This is a modest "mom and pop" type Chinese restaurant located in a strip mall in High Point just before highway 311 to Winston-Salem. The restaurant is small, but not tiny. There's not much to speak of in terms of ambiance or decor. It's clean and simple. The dining room is a mixture of tables and booths. The tables have those Chinese zodiac paper mats that are stereotypical of run-of-the-mill Chinese joints. Along with sit-down service, takeout appears to be a popular option. The menu is big and common of an Americanized Chinese restaurant with a decent variety of soups, appetizers, chicken, beef, seafood, noodles, rice, and vegetarian dishes. Expect to spend $9-12 each for most of these types of entrees. In addition, they have $8.40 combo platters and customizable multi-course family dinners designed for 2-6 people. The good stuff is on the "Traditional Chinese Menu" which you can find towards the back of the menu. They offer over 30 authentic Cantonese dishes, most priced around $13-16 each. As far as drinks go, they serve beer, wine, and even sake. We visited for a Saturday night dinner around 7:45pm and the restaurant was mostly empty during our stay. Here's what we ordered: A07. Roast duck ($17.95) A17. Steamed chicken with Chinese mushroom ($13.95) A23. Beef casserole ($16.95) A28. Seasonal vegetable with garlic sauce ($11.95) Overall, the food was OK to good. I was impressed with the roast duck. At $18, it was pricey, but also pretty authentic. Where else in High Point are you going to find authentic Cantonese roast duck? Not many places, I imagine. The skin was delightfully crispy and tasty and the meat was tender enough. We were given the option of having the steamed chicken with Chinese mushroom bone-in or boneless. For more flavor, it's always best to go with bone-in. The chicken was served chopped into several small pieces including the joints with cartilage. The mushrooms were shiitake mushrooms. This wasn't my favorite dish, but it wasn't bad either. It's relatively light and healthy. My favorite dish was the beef casserole. This was served in a hot clay pot. Various cuts of beef were served in a rich brown broth and topped with fresh scallion. The flavorful broth is what made this dish. The broth was yummy just over rice. I enjoyed the pieces of beef. However, the meat was very chewy and sometimes, rubbery and stringy. The dish was good, but would have been great if the quality or cut of the meat was better. The seasonal vegetable in garlic was snow peas. I was hoping the server meant snow pea leaves or snow pea tips, but nope, just snow peas. The vegetables were fresh, crisp, and tasty enough. I was disappointed the restaurant didn't have some of my favorite Chinese leafy greens (including ong choy), but for High Point, I can't complain too much. Service was excellent. They have a nice staff here with some good kids. read more

Expecting tonight to be a fabulous dinner. We aren't able to go to often due to my husband's sodium restrictions. Unfortunately we found it under new management. The service was poor from the start. Waitress sat us down and didn't bother to provide menus. Had to ask. Never brought water until we asked. We placed our order and got our appetizers. My husband finished his and the waitress came to the table only to tell us she lost the sheet of paper that she had written down our order. That was enough. Ordered chicken chow mein for takeout and instead of giving me noodles they gave me fried wonton skins. I called back and asked about it and they said if I wanted noodles I should have asked for "Chinese chow mein" which made no sense to me. If you Google chow mein 100% of the pictures are of noodles so I thought this was sneaky. 2 stars because the other dish I ordered was ok. I'd be willing to upgrade my review if they updated their menu to list an option of getting either fried wonton skins or fried noodles, but right now there's no indication that a dish with noodles in the name (mein = noodles in Chinese) would not come with noodles. read more

Worst service I've had in a while paired with some pretty mediocre food! We paid an additional $3/ea for getting vegetable fried rice with our entrees instead of white rice and this "vegetable fried rice" turned out to be nothing more than just chicken stock rice (nothing vegetable about that!). My boyfriend used to be a regular here so he called to try to explain the situation three times and to give them a chance to explain themselves because we know that businesses can have a bad day here and there, but instead, the lady that was working there hung up on him EVERY time. That is just plain rude. Honestly, food was so mediocre that it was not worth the bad service. We got two different chicken entrees and they tasted exactly the same, good, but nothing special.
