Without a doubt, the best Pad Thai and the best fried rice in the entire Piedmont Triad!

Very disappointing experience. Our son has special needs and a very limited diet. The last time we were here, we were told something regarding bringing food for him, so this time I called ahead before coming to ask if we could bring his French fries in that he would eat. I specifically called because I wanted to respect the restaurant and avoid any issues. I explained the situation to the manager. I was told they have a kids menu, but none of the options on the kids menu are foods our son will eat because of his extremely limited diet. I explained that and asked if we could simply bring food that he can eat. The answer was still no. We weren't trying to get around the rules or avoid purchasing a meal. We called ahead, explained the situation, and asked for a simple accommodation so our son could sit with his family and eat. What was most disappointing was the lack of understanding or willingness to work with us. Saying "we have a kids menu" doesn't solve the problem when a child with special needs cannot eat any of those options. We made every effort to handle this respectfully. Unfortunately, that same consideration was not extended to our family. We will not be returning. read more

Went for lunch. We got two different lunch specials--they came with soup (I paid to upgrade to miso soup). We also got an appetizer of crab Rangoons. Our soups and appetizer were the absolute best thing we ate. Our entrees were okay. My husband got the beef bulgogi and it needed something. He thought the addition of chili sauce would make it ideal. He gave it a 6 out of 10. I ordered the hibachi beef bowl and it was lacking flavor. The beef was well cooked but didn't seem to have any salt, soy sauce, or anything like that. It was a 5 out of 10. read more

Such delicious place! I ordered the sesame chicken with lo mein and Mongolian beef. These were both super tasty, my favorite being the sesame due to the perfect sauce level. I also had the miso soup and the chunks of tofu are always a big hit! If you go during lunch you get a much better bang for your buck, but all around it's always pretty tasty. read more

I got the sushi lunch special from here for takeout and it was decent! I chose the sweet heat roll and spicy salmon and both were great. The spicy salmon definitely had a kick to it! While I didn't dine in, the place looked clean and had a nice ambiance. The person at the register was nice and checkout went smoothly. read more

Came here for a little birthday sushi. I got crab rangoons that were super yummy, I didn't care for the spicy sauce that came with it but when I asked for sweet chili sauce instead they were happy to oblige. I got one specialty sushi roll which came out fresh and delicious. I enjoyed the ambience and location of this place; I hope to visit them again when I come back through WS. read more

Sometimes when people hype up a restaurant so much you almost dread trying it out for fear that it won't live up to the hype, not this time! HakkaChow is one of the best restaurants I've been to. The food is PHENOMENAL, extremely well priced, huge portions, and great service! Albeit unassuming from the exterior, step inside and you'll find some of the best Asian food this side of the Mississippi being served up. You'll definitely want to make a reservation here. But don't stress about the parking! One of my favorite perks is that it has its own lot. I was also impressed with the owner being present and walking around all night. It truly makes all the difference! It was hard to make a selection as the whole menu looks divine! We ordered Kimchi fries, Eggrolls, and garlic naan to start. For mains, Mongolian Beef, Shrimp and Chicken Pad Thai, and General Tso's. All fabulous! Everything was fresh and tasty. I'm already planning my next visit - I've got to try one of those sushi rolls! Hightail it to HakkaChow right HakkaNow! read more

Several years later and this place is still so delicious! Pretty consistent steady Winston place where you can get any kind of Asian food. Which is why I was here . We wanted sushi and red curry and they delivered us some excellent eats. Service was awesome and the manager still always comes by to ask if everything is ok. Love that. Probably at some point will need a Reno as they have been open awhile but nothing looked bad nice busy atmosphere and lots of customers which is nice to see. We ordered a standard vodka soda from the drink menu. They have drink specials every day as well. Then we tried the sweet heat roll which was so pretty ! Delicious with all the sushi elements. Yum. Then we tried the poke bowl with ahi tuna. Wow so big! Rice, seaweed salad and lots of Veggies and a yummy soy wasabi vinaigrette. The tuna sashimi was so fresh. Then the red curry with chicken. We asked for extra Thai spicy and it was just the perfect heat. Served with white rice this was a huge portion honestly could have served 3 people. We still had a lot left over . They were also great about giving us another bowl of rice which is also a nice touch . The sauce here for this red curry is amazing. I will be back to buy it as we asked if they sell it and our server said yes . It is one of the best I've ever had. We were somewhat totally full !! Haha! Such a fun night here eating all this amazing Great food . I need to make sure I come back sooner than a few years! If your red curry fan definitely come here! read more

Hakkachow is still our favorite after 5 years! My family has been dining at Hakkachow for the past five years, and it honestly just gets better every time! It is incredibly rare to find a spot that consistently nails Chinese-American Asian favorites: fresh sushi, savory Korean Bulgogi, and aromatic Thai curries all under one roof, but they do it perfectly. We have a few non-negotiables every time we visit: we always order the garlic naan and the kimchi cheese fries (which have the perfect kick of heat!). This time we were there for lunch, so I had the vermicelli bowl with chicken and they will serve it hot or cold, it's so good and I always have left overs. A side salad was included with both our meals also. My boyfriend always orders the General Tso' phenomenal chicken which is perfectly crispy on the outside, incredibly tender on the inside, and tossed in a tangy sauce. atmosphere at Hakkachow is always vibrant and modern, and the service is top notch, whether we are dining in or getting takeout for a cozy night at home. If you want authentic flavors and incredible consistency, do yourself a favor and check this place out immediately! read more

I've been here multiple times and the food is always great . Respectfully... this meal did what needed to be done The bulgogi and fried rice was savory, filling, and full of flavor, while the wontons were the perfect sidekick. The service was great -- friendly, attentive, and made the whole experience even better. The ambiance was cozy with a nice chill atmosphere that made it a great place to sit back, enjoy your meal, and actually take your time. read more

Arrived for a rather early dinner, seems like a pattern for me these days. Anyways we were seated rather quickly and our waiter came over and took our drink orders. He was friendly and had a sense of humor which made the visit more fun for me. When he asked if we were ready to order I told him almost, and that he should come back in 3 minutes and 37 seconds and I would be ready. I'm insufferable and I timed him and he made it back in about 3 minutes and 45 seconds. His tip increased at this moment. We got the steered dumplings and some sushi to start. At this point I had realized that I've only ever gotten sushi here, and even though it's always been super fresh and tasted great, I wanted to give their normal entrees a try. I ordered a spicy Korean chicken rice bowl for a change. Wow am I glad I did. The chicken was so crispy but still cooked perfectly and juicy. The sauce was the percent level of spicy to coat the chicken and the rice. The dumplings were also a good temperature and seasoned well. I've never had a bad experience here. The people running this restaurant know what they're doing and do a dang good job it. Can't wait to come back here, and if you haven't tried it before you need to cancel your plans for tonight and get in the car, now. read more

The reduction of my rating is squarely focused on the quality of service rendered here. In my latest encounter, I sat at the bar which had no customers and still waited several minutes for someone to take my order. This was the pattern for the rest of my visit; for example, the bartender once asked if I wanted a refill -- but took several minutes to deliver the refill, and not because they were overwhelmed with work either. The service problems aren't limited to the person working behind the bar either. The kitchen and wait staff still have no clue how to stage the delivery of the soup with the arrival of the entree. They come at the same time. How is this so difficult to figure out? I shouldn't see the main dish until I'm finishing up the bowl of soup. The food is still alright here, but the service problems are convincing me to cross this off my list of dining options for at least a while. read more

Delicious Asian fusion spot that I went to for my birthday and will definitely go again. The menu does have some basic Asian cuisine choices but it's all very good! We got the roasted garlic eggplant dish which was absolutely amazing. We also got some sort of pan crusted peanut chicken dish that was probably the best thing we ordered to be honest. Can't go wrong with the sashimi platter which was also pretty cheap for sushi. The drinks were absolutely delicious too, highly recommend the Tokyo Iced Tea. My girlfriend got the Yuzu Moscow Mule which honestly just tasted like a regular Moscow mule lol but overall great and delicious dining experience. read more

Nice enough location and ambience. Food is greasy and not good. Spring rolls literally has oil dripping out of them and the chow mein was also greasy. The noodles used in the chow mein were really good quality but execution of the whole dish was poor. read more

I love this restaurant. The staff is always friendly and the food is great. They have simplified their lunch menu since the pandemic but still offer a great variety of Asian cuisine. Much like Phoenix Asian Cuisine in Greensboro, Hakkachow calls to mind a non-corporate P.F. Chang's, only better. The restaurant is modern and spacious with plenty of seating to go around. The menu skews Chinese though there are Korean and Thai offerings as well as a sushi/poke menu as well. While there is something to be said for the comfort of familiarity, that menu, save for a few of the sushi rolls, offers no surprises. Everything you'll find here, you've likely already had elsewhere. My wife and I opted to start with one of the unique rolls (Cajun Revolution: tempura shrimp, cream cheese, and jalapeno inside/Cajun salmon, tuna, yellowtail, crispy shallot, aioli, and eel sauce outside), followed by a veggie fried rice (with homemade chili oil) and Singapore noodles, respectively. Our app came quickly, and we didn't have long to wait for our entrees either though service slowed considerably as the restaurant got busier. However, our server remained courteous, apologetic, and unflappably professional through it all. The kitchen proved to be on its game as well. On paper, the Cajun Revolution seemed almost too much, but it made for a tasty bite: spicy, crunchy, and flavorful. Singapore noodles are one of my go-to dishes for Chinese and Asian fusion, and Hakkachow's version didn't disappoint. While not the best I've had, the composition, flavors, and aroma were all there. The fried rice was likewise well-executed, and it contained a variety of veggies, but it wasn't leaps and bounds ahead of what you can get elsewhere. Hakkachow's entrees run large, which helps take the sting out of the mid-teens pricing. On the one hand, that is hardly unreasonable for a nice meal out. On the other hand, depending on how you feel about your favorite Chinese takeout joint, the extent to which Hakkachow's food surpasses it may or may not justify the extent to which Hakkachow's prices do. All told, Hakkachow promises competently made food in a pleasant environment. It might lack a distinctive "wow" factor, but it doesn't seem likely to let you down, either. read more

I came here recently for a work lunch to celebrate one of my colleague's retirement. We had a party of 10; arrived on Wednesday around 1145am. We were seated immediately at in the main dining area. Our server was nice and brought us waters and took our orders promptly. We put in a couple appetizers - the calamari and dumplings, which came out along with the soups pretty fast. The calamari was almost hard, kind of felt/tasted a bit stale; I liked the dipping sauces, but the calamari itself did not seem fresh and was lacking in flavor. I enjoyed the dumpling a bit more. For my entree, I ordered the beef lo mein with a cup of wonton soup and I added an egg roll. I thought the wonton soup was bland; and definitely not worth the upcharge. My egg roll came out before the main dish (I'm pretty sure it was a spring roll actually; but it tasted fine, especially with the dipping sauce). The low mein was definitely a generous portion (I had several meals for leftovers) but on its own was also a little lacking in seasoning. I requested a side of the house chili oil, and that definitely helped! All in all though, I'd say this was a very mediocre meal/experience; I don't think it lived up to the hype for me, but I would be willing to give it another chance (maybe try the hot and sour or egg drop soup, make sure I actually get an egg roll etc). Worth nothing, the rest of the party seemed content with their meals though. read more

WOW! We returned to Hakkachow after speaking with the owners about our previous experience. We didn't tell them when we were going, so it was still an authentic experience. Food was delicious as always. We had the orange chicken, the general Tso chicken, crab wontons, the Hakka zen shrimp, and the garlic naan. The kids had chicken tenders and fries with a side salad. Everything was wonderful! The host staff was friendly and responsive, our waitress (Becca I believe her name was) was responsive, quick, and friendly. We had a much better experience this time around and the atmosphere, service, and food were all much more up to the normal standard. We have so much respect for family owned and operated businesses especially when they take pride in their product and their customer service. 10/10 worth your time and money here at Hakkachow. You will leave full and happy. If there is ever an issue you can count on the management to respond promptly and help to make it better. If you haven't been yet, go try Hakkachow! read more

My favorite Asian restaurant ! I cannot say enough about the food , the service , the lovely family who run and owns Hakkachow . The fried rice is perfect , the Egg Rolls are crispy and light . I have so many favorites, such as Mongolian Beef, panko crusted chicken with peanut sauce ... I have been never been disappointed . The owner and her sons are sweet friendly and can't do enough to make your dining experience perfect. My favorite bartender , Christine and Joy are super friendly and amazing taking care of so many people.... Hakkachow is a locally owned Asian fusion restaurant with a modern decor. The menu has specialties but just a few selections from each, which I think is a sign that they aren't trying to do too much but rather focusing on what they can do well. There are a couple of Thai, Korean, Malaysian, Japanese and Mongolian selections. The server, "Z", was personable, attentive and helpful...always helps to make the overall impression a good one. The restaurant was busy but the food came out quickly. We were having a late dinner so we stuck to just entrees. When I ordered the bulgogi, Z asked if I liked spicy foods so I assured him that I love spice and flavor and looked forward to a nice spicy dish. Food arrived nice and hot but lacked both flavor and spice, literally no heat to my dish. The only heat in either entree was from the whole dried chiles in the Kung Pao Chicken, which are cooked just for flavor but I was so desperate for some spice and taste, that I actually ate a few of them. So all in all, a nice little date night spot with good service but lacking the depth of flavors you expect in the dishes we ordered. I am going to go back soon, as I think maybe we just had an off night. read more
