This place is still banging. Has to be one of the best dinners spots in Winston-Salem. Fancy atmosphere- great service - cool menu - sushi. I mean - went when we know there won't be a wait - but place is huge. Been coming here forever - delivers every time. The Lettuce wrap is the bomb diggity and the edename is fresh.

Came here for a little birthday sushi. I got crab rangoons that were super yummy, I didn't care for the spicy sauce that came with it but when I asked for sweet chili sauce instead they were happy to oblige. I got one specialty sushi roll which came out fresh and delicious. I enjoyed the ambience and location of this place; I hope to visit them again when I come back through WS.

I've been here multiple times and the food is always great . Respectfully... this meal did what needed to be done The bulgogi and fried rice was savory, filling, and full of flavor, while the wontons were the perfect sidekick. The service was great -- friendly, attentive, and made the whole experience even better. The ambiance was cozy with a nice chill atmosphere that made it a great place to sit back, enjoy your meal, and actually take your time.

Sometimes when people hype up a restaurant so much you almost dread trying it out for fear that it won't live up to the hype, not this time! HakkaChow is one of the best restaurants I've been to. The food is PHENOMENAL, extremely well priced, huge portions, and great service! Albeit unassuming from the exterior, step inside and you'll find some of the best Asian food this side of the Mississippi being served up. You'll definitely want to make a reservation here. But don't stress about the parking! One of my favorite perks is that it has its own lot. I was also impressed with the owner being present and walking around all night. It truly makes all the difference! It was hard to make a selection as the whole menu looks divine! We ordered Kimchi fries, Eggrolls, and garlic naan to start. For mains, Mongolian Beef, Shrimp and Chicken Pad Thai, and General Tso's. All fabulous! Everything was fresh and tasty. I'm already planning my next visit - I've got to try one of those sushi rolls! Hightail it to HakkaChow right HakkaNow!

Hakkachow is still our favorite after 5 years! My family has been dining at Hakkachow for the past five years, and it honestly just gets better every time! It is incredibly rare to find a spot that consistently nails Chinese-American Asian favorites: fresh sushi, savory Korean Bulgogi, and aromatic Thai curries all under one roof, but they do it perfectly. We have a few non-negotiables every time we visit: we always order the garlic naan and the kimchi cheese fries (which have the perfect kick of heat!). This time we were there for lunch, so I had the vermicelli bowl with chicken and they will serve it hot or cold, it's so good and I always have left overs. A side salad was included with both our meals also. My boyfriend always orders the General Tso' phenomenal chicken which is perfectly crispy on the outside, incredibly tender on the inside, and tossed in a tangy sauce. atmosphere at Hakkachow is always vibrant and modern, and the service is top notch, whether we are dining in or getting takeout for a cozy night at home. If you want authentic flavors and incredible consistency, do yourself a favor and check this place out immediately!

While this establishment is one of my favorites and I have raved about their food.. I am an avid believer in being able to carry because in the end, when it comes to protection no one is better prepared than you. So for me, any establishment that does not allow concealed carry means the establishment must carry the burden of your safety. Most do not realize they may automatically inherit this responsibility through their policies. This can mean up to 500 million per person with current litigation standards. So as a customer realize your environment. I comply with their posting out of politeness. But i am always aware of my surroundings and the risk.

Arrived for a rather early dinner, seems like a pattern for me these days. Anyways we were seated rather quickly and our waiter came over and took our drink orders. He was friendly and had a sense of humor which made the visit more fun for me. When he asked if we were ready to order I told him almost, and that he should come back in 3 minutes and 37 seconds and I would be ready. I'm insufferable and I timed him and he made it back in about 3 minutes and 45 seconds. His tip increased at this moment. We got the steered dumplings and some sushi to start. At this point I had realized that I've only ever gotten sushi here, and even though it's always been super fresh and tasted great, I wanted to give their normal entrees a try. I ordered a spicy Korean chicken rice bowl for a change. Wow am I glad I did. The chicken was so crispy but still cooked perfectly and juicy. The sauce was the percent level of spicy to coat the chicken and the rice. The dumplings were also a good temperature and seasoned well. I've never had a bad experience here. The people running this restaurant know what they're doing and do a dang good job it. Can't wait to come back here, and if you haven't tried it before you need to cancel your plans for tonight and get in the car, now.

I love this restaurant. The staff is always friendly and the food is great. They have simplified their lunch menu since the pandemic but still offer a great variety of Asian cuisine. I am never brave enough to try their sushi menu but it always looks fantastic on the trays passing by. The pork egg rolls are fantastic and I would love to eat Mongolian tofu every day.

Much like Phoenix Asian Cuisine in Greensboro, Hakkachow calls to mind a non-corporate P.F. Chang's, only better. The restaurant is modern and spacious with plenty of seating to go around. The menu skews Chinese though there are Korean and Thai offerings as well as a sushi/poke menu as well. While there is something to be said for the comfort of familiarity, that menu, save for a few of the sushi rolls, offers no surprises. Everything you'll find here, you've likely already had elsewhere. My wife and I opted to start with one of the unique rolls (Cajun Revolution: tempura shrimp, cream cheese, and jalapeno inside/Cajun salmon, tuna, yellowtail, crispy shallot, aioli, and eel sauce outside), followed by a veggie fried rice (with homemade chili oil) and Singapore noodles, respectively. Our app came quickly, and we didn't have long to wait for our entrees either though service slowed considerably as the restaurant got busier. However, our server remained courteous, apologetic, and unflappably professional through it all. The kitchen proved to be on its game as well. On paper, the Cajun Revolution seemed almost too much, but it made for a tasty bite: spicy, crunchy, and flavorful. Singapore noodles are one of my go-to dishes for Chinese and Asian fusion, and Hakkachow's version didn't disappoint. While not the best I've had, the composition, flavors, and aroma were all there. The fried rice was likewise well-executed, and it contained a variety of veggies, but it wasn't leaps and bounds ahead of what you can get elsewhere. Hakkachow's entrees run large, which helps take the sting out of the mid-teens pricing. On the one hand, that is hardly unreasonable for a nice meal out. On the other hand, depending on how you feel about your favorite Chinese takeout joint, the extent to which Hakkachow's food surpasses it may or may not justify the extent to which Hakkachow's prices do. All told, Hakkachow promises competently made food in a pleasant environment. It might lack a distinctive "wow" factor, but it doesn't seem likely to let you down, either.

All the items chosen were good, with the Fried Shrimp and the Mongolian Beef proving to be very, very good! Mongolian Beef is a favorite Chinese American dish. Despite the name, it was developed in Taiwan before coming to the USA, an been very popular, especially as a take out item. The version served here is among the best, nearly as good as the best in the area, that served at Jade Garden in Advance. The dish here adheres to the straight forward simplicity of processing quality beef, onions, and peppers well seasoned with a soy based sauce. The fried shrimp are small, fresh tasting, and well breaded and well seasoned. This isn't an item often thought of when considering Chinese American appetizer, but I would suggest you consider it , especially when a bit of hot mustard or Chinese hot sauce is added. I have tried at least a dozen items here, and there have only been a couple I would not reorder. The sipped with which your order is prepared is a definite plus, usually you are out in under 15 minutes.

The wonton soup had so many wontons in it I split it into three servings. They also give you the fried wonton strips to sprinkle on top if you like that. The portions on all the other food were also big. Mr. Lus doesn't skimp there. We all had plenty for lunch the next day. The service is always fast, reliable and friendly. There is no dining room. The menu has a great mix of familiar Chinese dishes alongside more traditional regional specialties, and it's clear the restaurant isn't afraid to lean into bold, spicy flavors. The ambiance is cozy. It looks like they turned an old Biscuitville into the dining space, which is quite charming. We ordered quite a few dishes, including the steamed soup dumplings, ox tongue and tripe with chili sauce, Singapore mei fun, intestine with chili pepper, mapo tofu, kung pao chicken, and the intestine noodle. Everything was well prepared, but the standout was how the restaurant balances more "American Chinese" flavors while also staying true to some more traditional chinese flavors as well. The chili-forward dishes had plenty of heat without overpowering the other flavors, and each dish had its own distinct character. The ox tongue and tripe appetizer and the intestine dishes were great options if you're looking to try something a little more traditional. The portions were generous, making it a great place to order several dishes and share with the table. If you're used to American Chinese food, this menu offers a chance to branch out and try something different while still having plenty of familiar options available. If there is a dish I would not order again, it would probably be the soup dumplings. They tasted just like the store bought frozen variety that you can steam at home. Nonetheless, New Sichuan Restaurant is well worth a visit if you're desiring flavors that somewhat lean towards more traditional Sichuan cooking.

Didn't get the chance to taste any of my wife's food but she was happy with it. Their food is always prepared very well anyways, so it was no surprise. The service was ok, but not at all pleasant, no thank you! I ordered an egg roll ($1.75), chicken wings (4 for $7.75) and Mongolian Beef ($10.25). The order took just about 20 minutes. All the items were good to very good. The chicken wings were full wings, well sized, nicely cooked, and full of flavor. At the current prices for this item at most places, this is a bargain, and a tasty one! The egg rolls, there were 2 of them, were small compared with those at other places, but there were 2! The roll was nicely cooked, and had a nice flavor. The Mongolian Beef was a nice version with plenty of tender, sliced beef. The sauce was a bit heavy, but was not totally overpowering. There were a collection of veggies as you see at many places, which is not what the original dish calls for, and seems to make the dish appear larger than it would other wise be. All in all, this was tasty and a good choice for Chinese American fare. Ambiance - 1 Food - 4 Service - 3 Value - 4

They are operating as takeout only at this time to ensure the safety of their customers and themselves. China is located in the shopping center where Johnny B's is located on Stratford Road and was crazy busy which to me is always a good sign. We ordered crab rangoon, steamed dumplings, the beef with broccoli combo with white rice (also comes with an egg roll) and the chicken with mixed vegetables combo with white rice (and the egg roll). The crab rangoon was probably the best dish out of everything we ordered and some of the best we've had here in Winston Salem. The steamed dumplings were okay and would probably be better if they were eaten as soon as we picked them up and not after a 10 minute drive. Both entrees were good, however my husband prefers the beef with broccoli at our normal Chinese takeout place. The egg rolls were basic and glad they were part of the entree as it wouldn't be something we would order separately. All in all, we enjoyed our meal and would definitely get the crab rangoon here again while maybe trying some other entrees. I'm looking at you General Tso chicken.

My GARLIC CHICKEN combination was excellent. Mistakenly thought I had taken a photo of the meal before eating it. Nice portions, proportions, color, presentation. Very tasty and enjoyed eating it all up. The included eggroll has more flavor than a typical one. Very pleased with this kind of stumble upon experience. The hostess is pleasant and attentive. Service was prompt and the food nice and hot.
