Pork Banh Mi
William H.

Love the food here! Especially the Bahn Mi sandwiches. You really can't go wrong with any dish. The flavors are authentic spices are on point. The staff is very friendly and always takes care of you. The Restaurant is a little bit off the beaten path, but is plenty of seating in a laid-back quiet environment. Try it out you won't be disappointed!

The broth at this place Kicks any other spot in Winston out the competition. It's like they've been cooking it for days. Put this broth over anything and it knocks. So the Lrg. Combination is what I get mostly and every time I have to sit down to enjoy it. I don't take it to go unless I have left overs. The service here is friendly and welcoming. The teenagers that work are well trained and motivated. They have options to sit outside or indoors.

Today we had the pleasure of trying the chicken and beef fried rice--and wow, where do I even start? This place continues to amaze me every single time. I've tried many other Asian restaurants in Winston, and this one is hands down my favorite. If you've been waiting for a sign to come eat here, this is it! We also had the grand pleasure of trying their flan. As someone who's Hispanic, I've had my fair share of flan--but I can honestly say I preferred theirs. It has this subtle coffee flavor that I absolutely adore. Don't be afraid to try something new--stop by and treat yourself. You won't regret it!

Love this place so much! The pho has such a flavorful broth it is perfect! They offer two bowl sizes regular and large which I love. Everyone is always so friendly and the restaurant is so lovely. If you love pho and haven't tried them yet you need to.

Pork Bahn Mi - small, small amount of filling, pate not included
Fred B.

After my initial visit, I came back to try the Bahn Mi sandwiches here. This is an item that is in scare supply in the WS area! I ordered one Pork ($6.50) and one Beef ($6.95). This is a rather small sandwich, the roll is no more than 6", and the protein filling is more than a little lite. Other than the protein, the ingredients are house mayo, pickled carrots, pickled, daikon, cucumber, and cilantro - the mayo was very thinly applied, and there was no pate, a very traditional item for this sandwich. The sandwiches were just OK , not nearly as good as the ones in Greensboro and Kernersville. All in all, these sandwiches are over price for what you get!

First time trying this place and it was excellent! Has that hole in the wall city vibe that emanates authenticity. Food is simply done and extremely flavorful, you can tell the pho is made fresh daily. Owner operated by a great little family (husband/wife/son) that provides diligent service! All around we had a great experience and will be back regularly. -tofu lettuce wraps perfectly prepared. Very Savory and not overly salty, I would have a hard time choosing the chicken over tofu in the future it was that good! - Rare Steak and Meatball Pho This was hands down the best pho I've had in Winston or NC for that matter. Very fresh and extremely flavorful and aromatic. As soon as you hit the door you can smell it! The rare steak was cooked perfect but surprisingly liked the meatball best! Thin noodles and a health side of bean spouts, cilantro, and jalapeño on the side. -Beef Bahn Mi Truly a standout and my favorite part of the meal! The bread is really what sets it apart. Perfect ratio of meat to cucumber/carrot/onion. Hit with a little siracha and it was damn good! Will definitely be trying the pork next time

Love this home-family business! Best pho in town with plenty of meat and toppings on the side. Bahn Mi was soft and flavorful. Staff was super friendly and more than happy to offer recommendations and split our checks as well. We came right at opening and it took a little while for one of the staff members to finish their meal before coming over to take our order. This place was also a little tricky to find - I wish they had more signage outside the building! Would definitely come back!

My fiancé and I LOVE this restaurant. Family owned, excellent location, always lovely energy. 10000/10! Very very accommodating to dietary restrictions (I'm vegan). Not to mention the best pho we've ever had! Definitely make sure to try the tofu summer rolls with peanut sauce as well. Simply cannot recommend this place more! What Da Pho is Winston's hidden gem!!!

Excellent first experience!

We continue to be huge fans of this place. The food is always on point. We love the rare beef pho and shrimp vermicelli. Fresh and delicious. Good service. And the pork egg roles are yummy!

A friend asked me to try this place, and I came away pleasantly surprised. The location is a bit odd, buried in the first floor of the Liberty Plaza building. I think this used to be a soul food restaurant back in the day. They've done a nice job on the interior. The staff were very nice and pretty attentive. I ordered a Vietnamese iced coffee and a large rare steak and meatball pho. My friend ordered something similar. The pho was very good, amazing broth, and the large was really big. I had to take a bit home. Would definitely come back.

Food was sooooooo good! I had the vegetarian pho with beef broth and forgot to take a pic I was so consumed Would definitely recommend and go back. Thai tea was delicious as well! The service was super fast and the recommendation was spot on for what I was looking for. Inside was clean, calm, and beautiful!

So glad Winston Salem has a pho place I can actually say has great pho! I usually have to venture out to Greensboro to get my Vietnamese fix, but I'm so glad I don't have to make that trip quite as much now. This place is literally a hidden gem in what looks like an office building. It has a "hole in the wall" vibe. My friend and I went for lunch and it was kinda dark inside, but that didn't bother us. She ordered the shrimp vermicelli bowl and I got the rare beef pho. She thoroughly enjoyed hers and I really liked my pho bowl. The broth tasted perfect which is really what can make or break your pho experience. Give this place a try! You won't be disappointed!

The texture of the crunchy bean sprouts against the spicy broth was spot on, and the lemon added just the right amount of zing. I also grabbed an order of the shrimp spring rolls. I did miss having basil in the rolls for that classic fresh hit, but they were still a solid side. The peanut sauce is on the thinner side, but it's very tasty and pairs nicely without being too heavy. Note: This was a takeout order and I haven't had a chance to try their sushi yet, but based on the pho alone, I'll definitely be back to explore more of the menu!

This is definitely one of those places. Nothing to look at on the outside but good food. This Florida girl was cold! So, naturally I wanted some type of noodle soup! Ambiance: It isn't much on the outside. It might look sketchy especially at night when you're by yourself but there are parking spaces right outside the entrance. There wasn't much to look on the inside. They had TVs and plenty of seating. Service: There weren't many ppl inside eating. A couple that was checking out and a gentleman who walked in before me. So, I got seated right away. I ordered and my pho came out quick. Food: I got the pho with beef meatball, rare thin slices of beef, and tripe - the special beef noodle soup. The broth was delicious! They had all the things that came regularly with pho - soy beans, Thai basil, cilantro, lime, and jalapeños. Hoisin and sriracha were already on the table. The broth was delicious. Right amount of noodles to broth portion. I found more fat in the slices of beef than I would like and not much tripe. Regardless, I will still like to come back again and give them another go.

The ambience is laid back with soft lighting, and depending on what time you arrive, you're either seated right away or there's usually only about a 10-15 minute wait, which is never too bad. The tables are always clean and set with fresh chili oil (super fresh and spicy), hoisin sauce, sriracha, and soy sauce. I ordered the pad Thai noodles with chicken, and it was so delicious. If you're looking for something savory, soft, and really satisfying, definitely try the pad Thai. Their drunken noodles are also up there as one of my favorites. Overall, this is definitely one of my comfort spots!

Not really a fair standard, I know, but it's what I prefer. So, for something like pho, with such a rich, meaty broth, and often chock full of meat, I struggle to enjoy it at times, despite my love of spicy, savory foods. This is all to say, I was thrilled to find that Pho Hien Vuong not only has a vegetable option (which most places do), but several combinations of just vegetables or with tofu, in either beef broth or a vegetable broth. I don't see that too often. I went the truly vegetarian route, with tofu and their made-in-house vegetable broth. The broth, despite its distinct lack of meat, was rich, flavorful, and deep. There were an abundance of toppings, and in addition to the included tofu and vegetables, I added jalapeño, bean sprouts, basil, lime, chili crisp, and sriracha. It was a fantastic meal, and while I could not come close to finishing the absolutely massive serving, I enjoyed every bite I did eat. Our server was quick and attentive, despite the restaurant being jam packed with a line out the door (a testament to its popularity, and by extension, its quality and value!). Tables were large enough to spread out on, everything was clean, and the volume level wasn't too bad even with that many people. I see many more visits to Pho Hien Vuong in my future.

We grabbed a few of items from the trays in front to tide us over sat down to eat those and made a plan to run to Super G Mart then come back. We always get the shrimp summer rolls and they were amazing as always. I just love them! We tried some mochi dumplings which had a paste type filling. I liked the flavor but the filling texture wasn't my favorite. We also got a gelatinous rice stuffed with pork and wood ear mushrooms wrapped in a banana leaf. The filling was nice but the texture was again something that wasn't my favorite so my husband got to eat it all by himself. We got a Che(dessert in Vietnamese) from the reach in refrigerator that was delicious. Later, we came back for Banh Mi. We ordered the #4 with Pork and the #5 New Orleans which was chunks of more savory roasted pork. The two Banh Mi were similar but when I tasted the meat it had distinct flavor differences. I loved both of them and would not hesitate to order either in the future. Earlier in the day, the line was quite long and the tables were full of happy customers. Ordered the bbq beef sandwich and an order of spring rolls with their peanut sauce. In addition to the fresh ingredients, the bread is still quite tasty. I do enjoy the bbq flavor of the beef, just enough jalapeño slices to give a bit of spice. The veggies are a good balance of crunch with the bite. You can always order the bread to take home if you're a fan as I am. I decided to grab the Thai tea as well. Overall a nice lunch, and happy the service is as I recall.
