Tried Saigon Restaurant in Mount Airy and it was a great experience. I had the curry chicken with rice--full of flavor and perfectly cooked. My daughter ordered sesame chicken but asked for noodles instead of rice, and the chef happily made it just the way she wanted. He was incredibly kind and welcoming. The place is simple, but the food and service were top-notch. We'll definitely be returning. One heads-up: I tried calling ahead but their phone number wasn't working. The food and service is excellent. The building is very humble (hole in the wall type) but clean. The owners are delightful. Ingredients incredibly fresh and cooked to order so piping hot. I just can't say enough great things about this restaurant. We ate here again today and enjoyed another amazing meal. I just can't understand why they are packed every day. All I can say is don't judge the book by it's cover. The exterior is not appealing neither is the strip center where it is located. I'm not a fan of Chinese food so I always order a Vietnamese dish. Hidden gem in Mount Airy! Before going, I had heard good things but wanted to check it out myself. The gentleman was a one man show and very attentive despite cooking and handling takeout orders. I ordered the pho and absolutely loved it. It was flavorful and was probably the best bowl I've had in a while. Only reason I'm giving this 4 instead of 5 stars is just because of the location. I will always say yes to Saigon. The absolute best, most authentic Pad Thai, served with a smile and a thank you! When I learned they were open again after closing for a whole year due to the pandemic, I think I screamed- I KNOW I cried! My friend and I (out-of-towners) were staying at the Mayberry Motor Inn, 0.2 miles away, and it was a dark and stormy night. We ventured out to this modest place (same building as Knight's Inn) because its Yelp reviews were impressive. We chose to eat in, and were welcomed by a lovely young lady who seated us and brought large glasses of ice water. We both chose to order chicken and broccoli, based partly upon a photo on the wall by our table. (Had we known how large the portion sizes were, we could have made do with one order rather than two.) In a flash, our food arrived: a very generously platter of lovely slivered chicken breast, bright green broccoli, and light brown ginger sauce, laced with delicate strands of carrot and onion, with plenty of white rice and more offered. We could not have been more impressed with the quality of the food, its preparation, the flavors, and the service. The modest setting mattered not. It appeared that the young lady's husband was the chef, and I believe I heard a young child. We were impressed by the top-notch quality of this cuisine and the friendly, earnest service we received. I wish I had such a place near my home, and I hope that the Mt. Airy locals will take advantage of having such a gem in their backyard. read more

Very curious friendly service, and no one was there! Bonus for us introverts. We had the General chicken with Jasmine rice and Curry chicken. They were both delicious in their own way. If you like spicy foods I would recommend getting the hot General chicken. The medium Curry chicken had a small small kick to it. You really get your money's worth especially for the quality of food. Wow. Just, wow. Little hole in the wall, tucked behind the Knight's Inn, didn't think much of it. But we didn't want to drive and were craving Chinese, so we walked over. One lovely gentleman, from Vietnam, ran the whole place, waiter, chef, etc. We tried Vietnamese for the 1st time, as well as some Chinese, and it was Delicious! Hot, fresh, meat & veggies, with noodles & rice, extra large quantities, served with a big smile.
