Today was my first time trying Saigon Restaurant. It was delicious! I had seen some mixed reviews but I found everything to very good! I ordered the Fermented fish soup. It was so flavorful and delicious! It came in a huge bowl so I will definitely have leftovers. Definitely recommend Saigon Restaurant!

Absolutely blown away. The pho is great, bun bo hue is fantastic. I got the clay pot dish as well. Great flavors all around. This is a smaller establishment, darker, cozy ambiance. Service was great. We were seated in the corner away from the main hubbub but we were taken care of. Prices very reasonable. Will come again!

AMAZING pho! Stopped here with a couple of friends and we all really enjoyed our food. The wait time for the food was so quick. The pricing is fair and great compared to all the food you get. Definitely my new favorite restaurant for pho.

I got the tofu curry and it was so good. It just needed some spice. The waitress brought us some chilli oil. Our waitress did have a lot of tables but service was pretty good. I was hoping to see a bar but I didn't see one on the side that I sat on. Perfect for dinner. Prices were all fair.

I got the roasted quail as the appetizer and let me just say, YOU DEFINITELY MUST TRY IT. DELICIOUS ...and I had the beef soup which was also delicious. The waitress was quick and polite. They provided good service considering I was only there for a lunch break.

It has been many years since my last visit but it won't be long for my next one. I believe their fresh spring rolls are the best in Greensboro. The food is excellent and the staff is helpful. I find the restaurant to be a bit dirty and simply worn feeling which is the reason for the 3 stars. In addition to the spring rolls their vermicelli dishes are always good, and there is a wide variety available.

I've tried so many different things here that you can't really go wrong. This is the bun Bo hue which was very flavorful. The grilled chicken skewers were amazing with the fish sauce. Everyone is always nice here and the service is also fast. The restaurant has many seating options including the bar which is nice.

My favorite Vietnamese spot in Greensboro. I have been coming here for a very long time and it's always been good everytime. Food- you can never go wrong with what to order from here. There's plenty of options to choose from. Ambiance- very busy on Sunday afternoon because you get the church crowd. A good amount of seating and usually never have to wait that long. Service- not the greatest. They only like their regulars. Food comes out pretty quick. I feel like portion maybe a little small for the price. They have their own parking but it can be hard to find one during busy times. The only reason I didn't give it a five start is because of the service but other than that, I would highly recommend. I don't like other places because I feel like other places have become so Americanized with the taste of their food. But this place is clean and tends to keep the culture of the food.

Everything was good until lil buddy from Joe's apartment came by to see what was on our plates. I lost my whole appetite. I asked for my papaya salad to be very spicy, not a single tear ! This was my first time with my lady, and I was disappointed. Yeah I got a little off due to the roach on the wall staring at us. In my culture we look at roaches as a sign of a filthy place. Where there is one there are more, kinda like the police on the highway hiding. Now I know this place has been there for over 20 years, but when do the exterminators visit? Let's just say never, and never ever will I come back thanks Randy the roach! Oh yeah when we reported it, the staff took off and we were disowned. They gave me a full check of 97 bucks tip included! So, I asked to be compensated for the bad experience with my lady and child. 15% off, and I slid them some cash because I'm not a jerk!

The sign is the same, but that's about it!

I wondered when this would happen? I wondered when I would walk into a restaurant as a Yelp reviewer and have to say the dreaded words, "This place has really gone downhill!" Well my friends, it happened last week when I took my friend Michael who was visiting me from California to what I thought was one of the finest Asian restaurants in Greensboro.... Saigon Here's what I remember pre-covid. A bustling restaurant especially during lunch time. Quite often I would have to wait in the parking lot for a spot to open up. And then you walked inside and ran into everybody you knew in Greensboro all there for that same delicious meal. Their hot soups and all their dishes were just out of this world. Even as you walked inside the restaurant you were blown away by all the delicious and enticing smells. The only reason I did not go there more often was because it was always so crowded that it was difficult to find a spot and difficult to get a table Well, let's jump ahead to last week in November 2021. We pulled up to the restaurant around 12:30 and I was surprised how empty the parking lot was. The outside looked real run down and dirty, almost seedy. When we walked inside, the place looked really dingy and barren. Not many people at tables and nobody seemed particularly thrilled to greet us or show us to our seats. We were shuffled around between a few waiters and waitresses until finally we landed with this young man who took our order. He rarely checked in with us and he put us in a back room where we were the only ones in the room. The room was adorned with old, nasty, dirty curtains, all closed to block out the sunlight. I felt like I was in a dungeon. Normally I would have loved the privacy but it all seem kind of weird especially in retrospect to what it used to be. We both had some basic lunch dish with chicken and rice and vegetables. Not bad, not good just mediocre like the rest of the place. I had bragged to Michael how special this place was, and it was so disappointing to see how it had changed. I don't know if it's because of new owners or a new chef or just one of the casualties of covid, but I will not be back!!! It breaks my heart to see this happen to a restaurant that was so successful and one of the pioneers of popular Asian restaurants in Greensboro other than Chinese food. Whoever owns the restaurant now needs to make a big decision if they are going to put some money into sprucing that place up , hiring a new chef and bringing it back to life. If not, I think it's time to shut the doors and leave while we all still remember that incredible restaurant years ago on High Point Road called Saigon that was a absolutely go to if you wanted an exceptional Asian food experience! So sad...

If there were more than 5 stars I would give it! Service is down right kind and efficient. The building they have is old but still very clean and quite. The food! Oh my!. I was in town for basketball and took my friend to eat there when she arrived. So I ate there twice in 3 days. I had the summer seafood the 1st day and the shrimp hot pot the 2nd time. The vegetables are outstanding. Prices are reasonable. It you get a chance, go. Oh, even the background music was nice.

Sauteed Lemongrass And Curry Sauce with shrimp (to-go)
    Devon E.

I used to frequent here often on my lunch hour when I worked nearby as their lunch specials are such a deal. So, check that out if ya can. This time we ordered some entrees to-go for dinner. We started with an appetizer of the Fresh spring rolls (rice paper filled with vermicelli, shrimp, pork, cilantro, and basil with peanut dipping sauce). You could tell these were hand rolled and I like that I could see nice sized pieces of shrimp and pork as well as the other ingredients inside. Rolls a little smaller than other places, but comparable and their peanut sauce was yummy. For my entrée I got the Vermicelli with lemongrass and curry sauce (sauteed peanuts, beansprouts, onions, yellow curry, lemongrass over greens with vermicelli and choice of meat). I got shrimp as my meat and ordered it medium spicy. You could definitely taste the heat at medium, which I liked but glad I didn't go hotter. Was pleased that the noodles were not all stuck together, which had happened some getting noodles to-go. The lemongrass and curry sauce was great too. It also included a little salad with a sweet sauce on the side. I ate some separate and mixed some in with the dish for some texture and extra vegetables. My friend ordered the Rice and Clay Pot with shrimp (mushrooms, bell peppers, onions, and scallions over rice with choice of meat). This dish has great color as it includes a variety of vegetables. She felt it had more rice than was needed, but liked the dish. My husband got the Stir-fried rice noodles special (flat noodles, peanuts, onions, scallions, beansprouts stir fried with shrimp, beef, pork, and chicken). Visually it wasn't very appealing as it was just a lot of brown, but the taste was good. Portion size was absolutely enough for a second meal.

Mixed vegetables with tofu, rice on the side with a glass of Chardonnay

Love, love, love this place. Once again we had a delicious and fresh meal at Saigon. As an appetizer, we ordered the spring rolls which come with 2 large shrimp in each one. The peanut sauce that comes with them is so delicious that I could spoon it in my mouth like a bowl of soup. We both ordered the tofu with mixed vegetables in a brown sauce. Out comes a huge plate of colorful vegetables with tofu and a bowl of white rice on the side. The portion was huge. The dish is chock full of broccoli, bok choy, mushrooms, red peppers, pea pods and onions. We ate everything! I have been here before and have ordered the curries, vermicelli and so much more. Saigon is reasonably priced. You really can't go wrong.

Very bad customer service. Food was ok. Likely a culture-focused restaurant, not for outsiders. Spend your money elsewhere.

So PHOing good! (Not sure if that breaks Yelp's terms of service but I'm living on the edge today.)…read more This local family run spot has it down. An unassuming place from the outside, but a great interior space that is clean and inviting. Couldn't believe how fast service was, and how fast the amazing food came out. It was a weekday lunch, but it filled up quickly, and the well oiled machine was running smoothly in here. The food is top notch. Started with a fresh spring roll that was full of flavor. It was huge, no skimping here. And for $2.50 it's a steal. Went with the lunch shrimp pho for $11.50. Everything for lunch is $9.50-$11.50, and the rest of the menu is also well priced. I couldn't believe the size of this lunch portion. Whoever said size doesn't matter in regard to food is kidding themselves. And the size wasn't the biggest surprise...this was one of the best pho dishes I've ever had! The separate plated bean sprouts, Thai basil, jalapeños, and lime were unbelievably fresh. The beef broth was full of flavor (choice of chicken broth as well), shrimp perfectly cooked, and noodles delicious. I can't say enough about the extra chili crisp sauce on the side. This is gold. Took the flavor to a whole other level. I can't wait to come back and try more of the menu. This spot is top notch, and the prices are very affordable, especially given the portion size and top quality food. Go...you won't be disappointed.

That disqualifies it from being a hole-in-the-wall, but owing to its location, it is still a hidden gem. The service remains fast and friendly and the food excellent. For this visit, I forced myself to try something other than their stellar pho and went with a fresh roll and a beef banh mi. The fresh roll, filled with shrimp, noodles, and cucumber, was crisp and paired nicely with a peanut sauce. The banh mi's baguette didn't reach Banh Mi Saigon levels, but in fairness, nothing does. It was still a tasty sandwich, offering plenty of beef and toppings (pickled vegetables, cilantro, and jalapenos) alike. I may not get out to this area of Greensboro very often, but when I do, Jakjin is my go-to lunch option. Do yourself a favor and make it yours as well.

Almost everything on the extensive menu is $11 or less, and many in the range of $6-$7 including my sandwich and spring rolls. When you're paying $15-$20 at many other places for the same thing, you can see the value here. Compare this to the rising costs in the fast food industry for significantly less quality food, and you can consider this a steal. Great spot for a quick lunch, takeout, or dinner with a few friends and family at a place that doesn't break the bank.
