A great little place to stop for Vietnamese food (and adjacent foods, at least in the American culinary mind). I simply got bao buns -- seemed appropriate, plus what is better than a good pork bao bun? And these were excellent. Some of the best in-a-restaurant pork bao buns I've encountered. Interior seating and atmosphere is somewhat less than bare bones -- a few communal tables, and a few little metal high tops; it fits the small bao shop aesthetic, though it's always a little dispiriting to sit at a table that's still dirty from multiple previous meals. But, the bao buns were great -- very flavorful char siu style pork, and a very evenly distributed amount of little extras to keep the pork company. And the buns themselves were perfect. read more

Everything was made to order and came out quickly. Rolls were huge! Fresh and tasty all around. Pork was tender and full of flavor, bread itself was also super fresh with a great crunch. The food alone is 5 stars, but the prices would raise the bar to 5+ stars if possible. The value you get for what you pay is amazing. Almost everything on the extensive menu is $11 or less, and many in the range of $6-$7 including my sandwich and spring rolls. When you're paying $15-$20 at many other places for the same thing, you can see the value here. Compare this to the rising costs in the fast food industry for significantly less quality food, and you can consider this a steal. This is my first time in. I have been wanting to try this place for years. I'm so glad I did. This is my first time ever having Banh Mi. I chose the pork (sweeter kind not the bbq) it was really good. I liked the sweet flavor but I think I would probably like barbecue better so I'm excited to try that next time. The bread was perfectly crispy and the seasonings and fresh herbs were great. There is limited seating, but we grabbed one of the last seats and the place filled up super fast. Tiny hole-in-the-wall Vietnamese and Thai places are often among the best of their kind, and so I had reason to be hopeful for BaoBao Kitchen despite its limited dimensions. While BaoBao is small (a few tables with limited space between them), the menu is not. Buns, rolls, curries, pho, rice dishes, banh mi, and more are yours for the taking. BaoBao even offers all-day breakfast, a rarity among Vietnamese eateries in the area. Dining solo, I went with pork bao buns, shrimp fresh rolls, and a hibiscus tea. Though BaoBao was busy, the crew here seems adept at getting food out quickly. I enjoyed most of what I had. The tea was sweet with a tangy note and especially refreshing on a warm day. They definitely didn't skimp on the bao bun toppings, and while their sheer sauciness led to some structural integrity challenges, that also made for a very tasty bite. Unlike other establishments, BaoBao serves three rolls to an order rather than two. However, they are short and smaller. As they were also chewier, this is probably not something I'd opt for again. Provided that you aren't coming in with a large group, BaoBao seems like a reliable option for modestly priced Vietnamese eats. Vegan reviewer here! I found my new favorite restaurant in Greensboro. I came in on Tuesday for the first time for a late lunch. The restaurant was small but there were some people dining in. The order process was easy and a lady took my order and I took a seat. They have ample vegan options with tofu and vegan ribs as a protein source on their bahn mi, spring rolls or the pho. I opted for the vegan spring rolls with vegan ribs, the tofu pho and a Thai tea with coconut milk. The order did take a while to prepare, just under 25 minutes but the food was delicious! I'm use to my tofu pho having more vegetables but the broth was so tasty! The portion size isn't as big as other places but it was just enough for me to finish in one sitting. The vegan ribs spring rolls were my favorite! I knew on the first bite I needed an order to go. Highly recommend and honestly the best spring rolls I've had. They come in orders of 3 and come with a peanut type sauce. I ordered the vegan bahn mi to go as well as more spring rolls because I knew I'd want to eat here later tonight. Ever since BaoBao Kitchen opened, I have tried to visit for lunch every month or so. Not just to give them my business but also because I have literal cravings for their food. In all of my visits, have tried many items off of their menu and have been satisfied every time. My new favorite item is the lunch special basil tofu over vermicelli. The flavor is outstanding and has a little kick. I'm not a vegetarian but love their tofu for some reason!! Everything from the lemongrass chicken, to the curry lemongrass fried rice, to steak pho and pad thai, everything is delicious. My only complaint is they usually don't put enough tofu or protein on the dish, compared to the rest of the ingredients. Like one time I think I had 6 pieces of tofu and the rest was noodles. The flavor was on point, but I wanted more tofu! All this said, this is definitely one of my favorite Asian restaurants in the GSO area! read more

This restaurant holds a special place in my heart as it is my go to lunch meal if I am craving Vietnamese food or a yummy drink. I love their crab fried rice with the yum yum sauce and their basil chicken lunchbox is such a good deal. Their jasmine milk tea is also very flavorful. Beef pho was rich in flavors, spices I couldn't even place but felt like a drop of gold on my tounge. Spring rolls were crispy and flavorful. The menu is not overwhelming, but I am disappointed that I didn't spot their special drink menu until half way through my meal. There is a drink menu to the left of the register. The drinks in the fridge to the left were eye catching and I thought that was all they had to offer until I spotted a drink coming from the back to gentleman sitting in the restaurant. So while ordering, take a peek at the drink menu or ask about the special drinks. As you walk in, the delicious aroma will make your stomach growl. I decided to get the chicken mixed vegetable hot box. It came with nicely seasoned chicken, mixed vegetables in a beautiful sauce with noodles. You have the choice to get it with rice. Before my food arrived, I took a long gaze at the restaurant. There were some cookbooks on the walls and sauces on the tables with very cute flowers to finish up the decorations. The cohesive decorations make the place a very cozy spot to eat a good meal. I loved my meal. It was simple, filling and enriched with the right amount of season. Bao Bao Kitchen is hands down my go-to pho spot here in Greensboro! I've been coming here since I moved in the summer of 2020, and it never disappoints. I haven't been to Bao Bao for a long time. It's a quick Vietnamese food restaurant that has seating indoors and outdoors. I ordered one of my favorites meals; tofu with mixed vegetables to dine in. I saw mostly people taking out. It was lunchtime so it was quite busy for take out. It was just me and another table dining in. It all came back to me. The interior of Bao Bao is just too warm for me to dine in. Next time I'll take out some that I can dine in a cooler environment. I remember second about the food the last time I was there. This place gives off a nice cafe vibe upon walking in and food was made to order and prompt! Lunch specials were great and very reasonable. Eating at the restaurant is definitely the way to go because it is piping hot and tastes best right out of the pan. The chicken basil had a good flavor and the fish sauce was great to add that funkiness that makes vietnamese food taste amazing! We also got a bbq pork banh mi which was devoured in a minute. The jalapenos in that were a bit of a spicy surprise so if you don't like spice, maybe ask for them to take them out. I went back inside to inform the cashier about the issue very politely. she immediately said that she could not give me a refund since I ate the food, I responded with, but there's a hair in it. She can continue to state that she couldn't give me a refund because of the hair then finally said she can't give me a refund because the manager was not there and that's the only person who could conduct refunds. Family of 4 including toddlers and found ourselves roaming the area early in the morning looking for places that would be open, but also wasn't ihop. We landed here. Nobody was in the restaurant and it was probably a good thing because my kids could not sit still. They were safely contained within the area of the small space while customers occasionally came in to pick up their orders to go. A note worth mentioning in case other parents find themselves in need of a similar situation. I noticed a bunch of other special items not present on the permanent menu including rice porridge and chicken (looks like congee or kaopiuk equivalent of you're lao/thai) but also banh guon which is like meat rice crepes. I hadn't had it in awhile and got some for myself! Really yummy. I knew it wouldn't be enough so I also ordered a char sui banh mi to share with my hubby. He thought it was the best banh mi he's ever had although it wasn't in the traditional sense because it wasn't. I enjoyed it as well though. Hubby also had himself some pho. Nothing particularly extraordinary but hit the spot. No complaints there! The kids had the chicken and noodles which was a stir fried chicken over plain rice noodles. It wasn't what I was expecting and a bit lackluster. They mostly enjoyed the chicken and left the noodles alone. I found myself in this area of town a few months ago, and looked into my bookmarks to see what places I wanted to try but had not yet. Well BaoBao kitchen was convenient, and I always love a Banh Mi sandwich, so I decided to stop in and give it a try. This is a very small place, if you want to eat there you probably have to limit it to just yourself or you and a friend. There's maybe 16 seats in there total. You order at the counter, and they call for you when you order is ready. It took a little bit to prepare my order of spring rolls and a spicy pork Banh Mi, probably 20 minutes. No real problem there. The food came out piping hot and clearly made fresh. I appreciate that they have a small "toppings bar" with things like chili oil, hoisin sauce, crushed peanuts, etc. I grabbed a little hoisin and crushed peanuts to add to my pork sandwich and that was not a mistake! Not traditional, but I did enjoy the resulting flavor. I don't really have a complaint on taste, but was glad I ordered some spring rolls to go with the sandwich, because even with my enhancements, I was still hungry after. The lunch special advertised in the window looks enticing, and I may give that a try next time, but still, might need to order some extra to fill it out. So I opted with a fresh roll and the pork Banh mi. The roll was a fat log and was not rolled well at all. We roll these rolls at home and I've seen nieces and nephews rolling better than that. There is room for 20 - 30 customers inside and there are three tables outside. Decor is simple. Food is outstanding! We stopped by mid-afternoon after visiting someone at Moses Cone hospital. You place your order at the counter and they call you up when it's ready. My wife had the Hot box chicken which consists of a salad, chicken and the rice of your choice. She had brown rice. She enjoyed everything and was particularly impressed with the brown rice. I had the red curry chicken. Vietnamese curry is a soup and it's served with rice. It was outstanding! Pros: the tofu and lemongrass curry sauce were really good. Cons: I wish there was more sauce, missing spring roll, it took a solid 20-30 minutes to get the food, the drinks came out about 5 minutes after the food and the hot tea was barely warm. The set up is that you walk in order, sit and they call your name so I thought it would be relatively fast but that was so not the case. My biggest gripe is that the drinks came out after the long wait for the food. Drinks always come first! They can at least appease your diners if the wait is long. My dish was pretty good (tofu curry lemongrass hot box). It came with a spring roll, salad, sweet chili sauce and soup. I chose brown rice out of the white rice and noodle selection. My husband had the chicken lemongrass but his dish missed the spring roll but had vegetables with his dish and mine only had the salad. My dish only had the tofu, nothing else besides the salad , rice , spring roll and soup. I would have thought it would have had a bit more veggies or sauce, see picture. I get that for the price you get a good amount of food I just would prefer to get a smaller solid meal rather than a bunch of rice. The table next to us was there before us but their food was still coming out after ours was.
