Had dinner one night with a group of friends. It was not busy the night of our visit. Our friends were already at our table when we arrived. The hostess showed us to the table and menus were already waiting. We ordered drinks with our server and got a couple appetizers to start our table off right. Crab Rangoon wontons, with the Spring rolls and some of the Mac balls all three were nicely prepared and a good start. Of the three the Spring rolls were my favorite, crunchy golden brown and flavorful. I went for the pork belly Bao buns, along with the Panang Chicken curry for my dinner. The curry was very good, full flavored and just spicy enough. The Bao buns were okay, but the pork belly overcooked. Which really defeated the whole purpose. Our server was not very attentive and actually did not check on us, we had to go ask to get help more than once on our visit. It wasn't until the end of our meal that an owner stepped in that things changed. But it was a last ditch effort to salvage the night with us. As my plate I chose the bao buns & they did not disappoint, the bun is so soft & the pork is tender & super flavorful. Service was great. Everyone is very friendly. Our server was very knowledgeable about each item on the menu and helped us with making our selections. It's pretty quiet inside. Very cool late night spot with a wide variety of cuisines. Ranging from Thai/Asian food and American food! Service was really quick considering it was late and they had a full stocked bar as well! The food was pretty good, if you enjoy a little bit more flavor and spice I'd encourage to ask for them to make it spicier especially for the noodles. I got their impossible burger it was pretty bland, I did ask for them to cook it extra and they did but I did wish it had more flavor overall for everything pretty much. It was the same for the Mac and cheese balls. The presentation for everything was beautiful as pictured! But had to heavily season everything as much as I could. I'd come back though! Worst Mother's Day dinner...ever??? My son and I decided to try something new (to us) on Mother's Day as it was just the two of us that evening. We initially landed on In Demand because the burger selection menu looked awesome, but we changed our minds when we arrived and saw the Asian menu variety. Let me include that as we were being seated, a table of three was getting up to leave and there were no other diners for the duration of our meal until a few minutes before we departed. A few to-go orders were picked up, but we were essentially alone and things seemed not so busy. We had a half booth/table and there was a cage fight on the tv (not my fave dinner content) and we were mostly able to ignore it and have a good conversation while we waited. We ordered the pork bao to start and each chose the drunken noodles, one with shrimp and one with chicken. The bao took a while to come out and they looked good and made a pretty presentation, but that was the end of the excitement for me. The pork was mostly fat and the meat stretched as we tried to bite through it and pull it apart. I could not handle gnawing on a rubbery chew toy so I ditched the pork and nibbled on the bun. We hoped the entrees would make up for it. Thirty minutes later we each received the wrong dish - fried rice with pork and one with chicken. The server knew they were wrong and said they were working on the drunken noodles, but just to keep the rice. Our first thoughts were why did it take so long to make fried rice and a protein? We ate a little, but it wasn't really what we wanted so we got to-go boxes and packed it up. We waited for the noodles and when the noodle dishes finally arrived they were brought out in to-go boxes...like we were expected not to stay... At that point we had been there so long we decided to leave and ended up making PB&Js when we got home. This seems like a great place that I hope really takes off because they fill the role of providing late night food near a lot of bars. They are, of course, a bar/restaurant themselves and serve a good variety of decent beers, wine, liquor and mixed drinks. This place is advertised and named in a way that suggests it's primarily Asian food and while that is a large portion of its menu there did seem to be a good variety of other foods too. I had a few $3 Singha's which is a pretty solid Thai beer, but they also had a good selection of local North Carolina craft beers from breweries such Red Oak, Wiseman and King Canary. I tried a sampler plata of Gyoza, Crab Rangoons and Spring Rolls. They were all pretty good but I'd say the Crab Rangoons were the best by far but I don't know if I'd order the Gyoza or Spring Rolls on their own. I also tried a "Bao Flight" of 5 Bao. They were hot Chicken, Korean BBQ, Tofu with grilled onions and cucumbers, Pork Belly and Shrimp with "Yum Yum" sauce. They were all quite good, the Korean BBQ and Pork Belly being the big standouts. The Bao were well done but not very large and not very filling, even 5 of them. To round things out I ordered a few "Kushiyaki" aka Japanese Skewers, a Bacon Asparagus and Shishito pepper skewer. They were decent but as you can imagine not terribly filling. After all that I was feeling like I needed something more substantial so I ordered a basket of Cuban "Communal Fries". They really hit the spot as simple straightforward bar food that filled you up. The service was great, even though they apparently had a call-out and were short staffed the bartender Terrence who was pulling double duty as busser/waiter did a great job and was very friendly and attentive. The restaurant itself had a traditional sit-down area and a bar area as well. It didn't really feel like there was a lot of notable decor that stood out to me, but that's ok. Something more to give it a bit more spirit and personality would've been nice though. Overall it's a decent place with good solid selection of food and beer with extended hours. In addition to everything else mentioned the menu also features burgers. While I usually like a place with variety I do wonder if maybe they are trying to do too much and should be more focused. Some of the food like the Bao is really not very filling at all considering the cost. Despite this and the other criticisms listed above I still think this is a promising late night spot that is worth checking out at least once and maybe making a regular visit if you live nearby and find yourself wanting to eat late often. read more

This visit was not as good as past visits. We had ten folks in our party, and I think we overwhelmed the waitress (more on that later). First, we placed our drink orders, and the beer came out warm! Regarding food orders, one of our group did not receive his meal with the rest of us. It actually looked like the order did not make it to the kitchen. I had ten hot buffalo wings, and they were tasty, as always. The waitress started bringing our bills, but then she ghosted us halfway through. Another staff member had to come finish up. It's great to see a restaurant with this concept in this part of town, especially with the late-night hours. Underwhelming but solid concept and good food. I was excited to try this place out, since Asian fusion food is one of my favorite cuisines. We were able to find parking in their small lot (yay!) and chose to sit inside. The space was open and there was plenty of available seating on a Saturday night. They had a lovely cocktail menu. However, I opted to spend more of my food and decided not to go with a cocktail this time. I chose the main lobster roll as my entree and the crab rangoon as an appetizer. The crab rangoon was stuffed very full and was dominated heavily by the cream cheese and not the crab. They were crispy and tasty! However, at the $13 price point, I wasn't blown away with the 7 crab rangoon option. The lobster rolls were tasty and the lobster had good flavor. In spite of it being a two-roll meal, it seemed like the rolls were a bit understuffed with lobster meat and that they were strategically propped up in holders to make them look fuller than they were. Also, my fries weren't very warm. I'm sure they would have heated them up if I asked, but I was in eat-mode and didn't make the request. I think that if I come back, I'll try the drunken noodles or something else on the menu. Everything I ate tasted good, I just wasn't blown away by the flavors or the value for money. One suggestion I have for this spot is to add a couple of tofu protein options to their menu (especially on the pad thai). Overall, this place is worth stopping in, since there is a decent amount of menu variety. With so many spots nearby, I don't think it's going to be at the top of my list for a future visit. I was looking forward to our visit based on some recent reviews from trusted Yelpers, but I am sure if you have been doing this as long as I have you know that not every experience is the same. We came here on Sunday afternoon, to an almost empty restaurant, which is not a good sign, but it was a weird time. Parking has always been a challenge for this location but you can find lots above it and walk down to it. Our server was nice, but seemed to forget some things because we didn't get the mac-n-cheese balls that we ordered and even though we were the only people there it took 30 minutes to get our food. We had to remind our server about the mac-n-cheese balls. I ordered the Cuban burger, which on paper seemed like a Cuban sandwich, but instead was a burger with pulled pork on it, some kind of sauce, and pickles. It was not a Cuban sandwich or close to it and should not have been named "Cuban" and given the description since it did not come close. It would be better to have a Cuban sandwich on the menu if you are taking notes InDemand, since they are delicious and not easy to find here in WS. I got some spring rolls so that my wife could share those, as I said when we ordered I had anticipated the mac-n-cheese balls that were to come out, but our server was absent and so was the appetizer. The mac-n-cheese balls turned out to be the best thing. My wife tried to get me to try her dish, but said, "It was saturated in soy sauce and had no flavor", I let her know I would pass on the tasting. We were looking for something different last weekend and my wife suggested InDemand. She had heard good things about it online and knew they serve both burgers and Asian food. Located in the old Hops Burger Bar location we were familiar with the building and parking. We aren't sure why some people complain about the parking lot for this building. In our experiences there has always been parking available within the parking lot and you are not forced to try to find street parking nearby. We arrived shortly after 11am and were immediately greeted. We asked if we could sit in the bar area and we were provided menus and welcomed by a couple of employees. We asked for recommendations and one of the first suggestions were the drunken noodles. We also noticed the Mac and cheese ball appetizers and knew we had to try them. My wife chose the kale cashew salad with lemongrass dressing and our server was helpful in explaining the size of the ala carte skewers. Ultimately, she chose one chicken yakitori and one shrimp. I ordered the drunken noodles with chicken and we ordered three of the mac and cheese balls as an appetizer. The space itself looks clean and well taken care of. We couldn't help but notice we were the only ones seated at first but about the time our food arrived there were two other tables seated with 5 or more people. The Mac and cheese balls arrived and looked delicious, they tasted as good as they looked and we wouldn't change one thing about them. Our entrees arrived and also looked incredible. My wife commented that hers was very flavorful and the lemongrass dressing on top of all the fresh veggies and protein was refreshing. My drunken noodles were really yummy too. Obviously the best part about this restaurant is being open so late, and we went around 10 pm and stayed and played cards for a while. Wait staff was very friendly and the environment was peaceable. No secret that parking at this location is tricky-but there's a larger parking lot right up the hill. The service was so good! Our server was so friendly and attentive. The restaurant seems to be split in two different areas, bar and table seating. I saw on a flyer they also do college nights. I ordered and espresso martini which was great, and split a ton of food with my friend. The truffle fries were fantastic. I loved the Korean barbecue bao buns, but thought the burnt end buns were a bit too tough. The crab rangoons though-HOLY COW. So dang good. (It wasn't listed on Yelp but they're pet friendly.) We went there before 5pm so we believe we were the only ones there. Our server was nice and friendly but the service was very slow. I don't know if it's because of the bar and the kitchen being slow or the server himself. We weren't in a rush so we didn't mind but I was just surprised at how slow the service was, especially we were the only ones there at the time. I remember the food was good the last time we visited but it was meh this time. The spring rolls and my Pad Thai were served luke warm. And the chicken in my Pad Thai tasted funny. It was thigh so it should have been more tender than a breast but it was tough and it looked gray-ish. The noodles could have more flavor too. The idea of "Asian Street Food & Burger Bar" is RIGHT up my alley, but I have purposely not come here simply because of the branding (the yellow/purple sign or the neon looking burger) or the name. Talk about judging a book by its cover! I got takeout here last weekend for the first time and LOVED it. I tried the Bao hot chicken buns. The pickles added a nice crunch to the meat which was flavorful but not spicy, and the buns were incredibly soft and delicious. I also tried the mac-n-cheese balls (based on Yelp recommendations) and those were excellent as well, though I couldn't find a sauce I loved. Asian street food and a burger bar - interesting combination for sure - it occupies the small place that previously housed Hops. The interior is attractively appointed, bright and modern. There is a very limited amount of parking in the front, 7 spots or so, but there is some more parking a short ways up Northwestern - not the ideal situation, but workable for some folks. When I arrived 10 minutes before opening, 3 of the spots were already taken by staff - not cool when you are trying to build a customer base in an awkward spot! I ordered the 3 piece Mac & Cheese Balls and the Seoul Hot Chicken Bao Bun. And they carry Tsingtao Lager, one of my very favorite beers. Both dishes were well sized and attractively presented. As has been noted in other reviews on Yelp, the Mac & Cheese Balls are excellent, and the taste is even better when the accompanying sauce is liberally applied - a bit of initial sweetness moved away at the end by a nice amount of heat, great sauce!!! The Seoul Hot Chicken was an equally excellent dish, the sauce on this also makes the dish - another sweet start with a warm finish, excellent on the tender, flavorful white meat chicken. Trying out this restaurant for the first time and it was really good. The place is very clean and in great shape. The waiter was really good. The macaroni cheese bites were amazing. The pimento burger was good as well. The bacon jam on the burger tasted a little overdone but nothing to complain about. The cheesecake was really nice to end the meal. Overall this must have been a slow day. There were a few people here when I arrived but by the time I was done it was empty. The service to get the food could have been a little faster since there was no one here. But good for me that I had extra time to sit and work on my computer and I wasn't completely in any rush. So I don't hold that against them. But... someone who wanted to come in, eat, and rush out might feel differently. I liked the place a lot and I'll be back to try some more menu items! Straight to the point, the food is good and the staff was friendly and inviting. My wife and I came in late to dine in and the staff were gracious enough to serve us as this was our first time. The inside is average, if you have been around Winston Salem for a while, you know that this building has had several great restaurants in the past. The selection is overwhelming because there were so many options that you want to try! We decided to go with the steak sandwich (delicious) and the BBQ bacon cheeseburger (awesomeness). The cool thing about the sandwiches is that you can get the special communal or loaded fries for $1.50 more (this was July 2023) and tried the zesty ranch fries. I've been waiting to try this place for a couple of weeks now. It's located just on the outer skirts of downtown across from Reynolds Park. There is very limited parking directly in front of the restaurant, but there is street parking available. Upon entering, I was greeted by a friendly gentleman who walked me to the quaint dining room area. Very informal, well lit, and not too loud. They weren't very busy, so he let me choose where I wanted to sit. The waitress appeared about 1 minute after sitting down with a class water in hand and asked if I wanted anything else to drink. They don't have alcohol licenses yet, so that's not an option as of now. They do have coke products The menu is very eclectic, with lots of options at affordable prices. I leaned towards the asian fusion side tonight and ordered Spring rolls, Korean bbq bao bun, and yum yum shrimp bao buns. The food came out in less than 10 minutes and was plated nicely. I did not enjoy the Korean bbq bao(kbb) or the spring rolls. The texture pf the kbb was not pleasing. Too many soft things. There are carrots, but not enough to have an impact on the soft textures of the chicken, the sauce, and the bun. The spring rolls were called vegetable spring g rolls but seemed to only be filled with rice noodles and the flavoe was off putting. Now, on to the star of the evening. The yum yum shrimp bao! The shrimp were well seasoned and lightly fried. There was just enough yum yum sauce to provide flavor and not ruin the crispness of the shrimp. I will return just for this item!! Overall, although I didn't like 2 of the 3 items I ordered, the customer service and the shrimp bao is what earned this visit 4 stars.
