Stopped in today see what all the fuss is about.

July 6 2025 3.6 stars China Wall Buffet has a nice spot in a strip mall setting right off Willow Pass road in Concord. This strip mall should get a cool nickname like maybe Concord's Food Crawl. There are so many food operations for you within a 2 block walk. I checked out Yelp before we departed and Yelpers have been raking this restaurant over the coals for years. I went in with low expectations and left happier than I expected to. The buffet has a ton of food choices. We were there for dinner so there was plenty of fried crab, shrimp, and clams. The shame about it is they manage to overcook too many of their foodstuffs. Chewy prawns, chewy clams, tough as a golf ball "siomai". You might get a suprise bit of sand or shell when you are expecting an uneventful chew as well. This is much like eating on a cruise ship with all the beautiful foods, only the Chef missed the boat. The food tray areas and in fact the entire restaurant is kept clean and organized. The staff is friendly and quick to clean up a table so the guests have space to soil more plates. Happily there is no noticeably annoying mood music being pumped in. The restaurant is brat friendly so you can bring along offspring if you've got them. The winner here is the price. Two meals and a coke for $40 before tip (we got a few bucks off- old codgers discount). Where can two people eat all the muscles, Manilla clams, pepper crab, and sushi etc. they want for $40? Again, most all the dishes are prepared in an underwhelming fashion. Know that walking in the door and you will leave sated, happy, and with a few bucks still clinging to the inside of your wallet.

Went for lunch on Veterans Day with a group of 13 people. The person who arranged the gathering called the restaurant to ask about securing a table for all of us. The restaurant never mentioned that the lunch price for Veterans Day would be increased to the dinner price, so it was about $5 more per person ($17.95 per person). When we inquired about the increase in price, we were only told, "Well, it's posted on the door." The person arranging the gathering called on the phone, so she wouldn't have seen a post on the door!! Oh, well! The offerings on the steam tables were varied and plentiful, but none of it seemed particularly good. I think the best thing I had was the fried chicken drummette listed as "chicken wings". Nothing else seemed to have enough flavor to make it stand out. The sushi all tasted the same with not much flavor. The clams with black beans were under seasoned and the "baked crab" was really just "krab". Absolutely no drinks were included in the price except water. No knives were offered, so you have to try to cut larger pieces with your fork or eat with your hands. Needless to say, I was not very impressed with anything. So glad the people in my group made up for the disappointment of the food.

I've upgraded my review to 5 stars! I've been coming every few months and am happy to see the place popping like it used to pre-Covid. I like that they've added different things to the menu and haven't really raised their prices like everyone else has. Today was the first time I saw a wider range of cold seafood and sesame noodles. Very nice and plentiful selection! Their fried chicken wings are one of the best in town. Staff is really quick to replenish the bins of food, whether it be the wings or crabs. I remember some restaurants wouldn't fill the popular ones too quickly but that's not the case at China Wall! Staff is very friendly and fast at clearing away empty plates and refilling drinks. Class Act, China Wall!

Weekend price 18.99$/ adult

12/31/2025, for weekday lunch buffet 14.99$/ adult and 4.5$ for kid. the food is acceptable with this price. If you want find a place to fill your hungry tummy, this is the right place. If you want to treat yourself something yummy, I don't recommend it.

This is my first time here to celebrate my husband's birthday, and it did not disappoint! The food quality is excellent, and the trays are constantly replenished with a variety of choices, including crab, shrimp, squid, beans, noodles, rice, and broccoli beef, along with fruits and ice cream, just to name a few. The wait staff is attentive and friendly, and the pricing is very reasonable. I will definitely come back!

A good buffet with a good price. I went here around lunch time and the price for lunch was below $15 especially for an AYCE place. The service was also good, hostess asked if I wanted a booth or a table when I came in & glad to have a choice on that decision. The hostess also made sure I had enough water while I was dinning here. The dinner area was spacious & the dinning plates were clean. There's a good selection of various food dishes ranging from fried chicken, chow main & sushi. All the food I got from here was delicious & filling. Super duper worth especially for the price.

I've heard of Yi Ji Chang Fen but only tried it today. I've eaten so much dim sum in my lifetime, so my standard for dim sum may be higher. We came around 5PM on a Saturday and there wasn't anyone really there. It could be because dim sum feels more like a morning or lunch thing, or it could just be because we were there for a very early dinner. Between our party, we shared: - Marinated Chicken and Mushroom Rice Roll - Stuffed Sticky Rice in Lotus Leaf - Steamed Chicken Feet w/ Black Bean Sauce - Black Gold Egg Custard Buns - Chicken Feet with Herbs - Dry Style Beef Chow Fun And one Honey Lemon Tea for me. The honey lemon tea was a comfort for the cold day. Maybe a bit too much honey, but still good for the throat during the dry season. The chow fun came first and surprisingly it was not bad. There was a bit of 'wok hey' there and it stands out as one of the better dishes we had. As for the rice roll - I wanted to try something less conventional and I've never seen chicken in rice rolls, so I thought it would be interesting to try. It was quite disappointing though. Their rice roll was bigger than normal in width so with rice rolls being a struggle to pick up already, the bigger size made it an even bigger struggle. Everything just slipped out of the rice roll and it wasn't evenly wrapped. There were some bunched up layers on the edges. I think the chicken just didn't pair that well either and it was lacking in ingredients. Maybe the more conventional rice rolls would be better. For the two types of chicken feet, I normally like the one in herbal soup. If made well, the chicken feet has a nice flavor to it. For Yi Fen's herbal chicken feet, their portion was pretty good, but flavor was less prominent. I enjoyed the chicken feet in black bean sauce more because the flavor was better. Lastly, for the stuffed sticky rice and black gold egg custard buns, I suspect that these are not made in-house, but rather store-bought. The sticky rice lacked ingredients and the rice was a little harder than if made fresh. And the perfectly shaped black buns with a golden brush stroke on top (which I've seen all over the internet) seemed too elevated-looking compared to everything else. I'm not the biggest fan of molten lava buns, but they came out nicely. I didn't have any, but the molten lava custard was pretty runny. All in all, an okay experience. Service was a bit lacking. I don't recommend the dim sum dishes, but if I happen to want congee, I may give this place another go. Apart from the dim sum and rice rolls, the noodles I glimpsed from other customers looked not bad. I wonder if other locations are better.
