I TRIED China Star again (for the first time since I moved away 10 years ago.) I ordered a simple dish, or so I thought. Pork Fried Rice (a LITTLE spicier) the man working at the counter smirked as he repeated my order when I gave him my number to pick my order up. I purchased it & drove 25 minutes home and tasted it. It was not a LITTLE spicier. It was so damn hot I could not even eat it. AND, it had NO flavor...just heat. I haven't had china star since about 10 years ago right out of high school so I decided to be adventurous and give it another try. I ordered the general 'tos chicken lunch special and there were tiny pieces of bone in my chicken and the egg roll was soggy like it had been sitting under the light all afternoon. I wouldn't recommend dining in at this place. They don't have any real silverware or plates, only styrofoam. They also have a HUGE fly problem because they leave their door open. As I continued to attempt to enjoy my food while fighting of what seemed like one hundred flies, the cook and workers started to kill the flies in front of me. I've never been so disgusted. I was a long time customer of China Star, but after an argument over not having the proper receipts for their program to get $5 off after accumulating $75 in receipts, I vowed to my wife I would never go back, However, she forced me to go the other night and after I got my debit card receipt I asked if this was the receipt I needed for the $5 rebate. The guy told me no (these were some of the receipts I turned in before). He then gave me another receipt, but if I hadn't asked I would not have gotten the proper receipt. What a fiasco - not a big deal, but the principle of the thing, plus our food wasn't very good that night, so maybe my wife won't make me go back. read more

Ordered food in the phone and couldn't understand the girl at all. Got my food and order was so messed up called and the girl said "your fault, you said wrong food order" which in fact she was yelling at me then I asked to speak to someone else and he was nicer and gave me store credit but, that one girl made me really mad she basically told me "not my problem" and when she read me my order everything was correct. Worst Chinese rest ever. These good reviews are posted by the owners, there is possible way this rest is 4.5 stars out of 5. This food is ridiculously priced for the quality you get. The ingredients are cheap and the flavor is watery and tasteless. I posted a bad review and somehow it magically disappeared. Do not eat here. I hate leaving bad feedback, but I have to be honest. I had to pick through my meal and was lucky to be able to find a few suitable pieces of chicken to eat. This was VERY low quality food. I'm assuming they must use some sort of MSG, because I have never felt this bloated from any Asian cuisine. Friendly service, but absolutely GROSS food. OMG Where do I begin? My husband called the telephone number listed online for China Star on Raab Road. They took our order and roughly 30 minutes later it was delivered. The dumplings were burned and the entree was not what was ordered. We paid $25 for 1 entree, dumplings and 2 egg rolls. We called the store back to let them know our order was wrong. The kid who answered the phone argued with my husband that we ordered online and it was our fault that we ordered the wrong thing. He even went so far as to say that there was no woman working at the store. We argued with him for another 5 minutes and it ended with him saying he could do nothing and hung up my hubby. My hubby called the Bloomington location to see if by chance the manager was the same or if they knew how we could reach the owner. Based on their responses, it would appear that we aren't the first ones who have had major issues with the Normal store. My husband called the Normal store back and this time spoke to the owner "supposedly". Now, instead of denying we ordered online he said the woman who took our order was stupid. Horrible customer service. I once picked up my carryout, and got home to find out they forgot my 6 piece crab ragoon. I called and they said I could come back to get it, or they would write me down to get a free one next time. I chose to have them right it down since I was already back home. A few months later I called to place a order and they said they would not get me the free crab ragoons like promised, because they didn't have it written down. WORST costumer service EVER...we ordered 60 bucks worth of food and paid the extra for delivery,the food arrived all wrong for example sweet and sour chicken and sweet and sour pork with no sauce,the rice was something not edible and could have been used to glue bricks together,the broccoli and beef was more like just broccoli...the worst was yet to come when I called this so called place of business I was told by a rude young lady there is nothing that could be done and if I didn't like it I should come get the sauce from the store,so I paid for delivery they mess it up then I have to come and rectify the situation,and before I could reply 'click' she hung up..I recalled and told them I wanted a refund on the sweet and sour meals (at this point I hadn't even had chance to tell them about the other gross food)I was told for a refund I would have to box all the food up and take it back,worst costomer service I've ever had,this is the first time I've ever felt the need to review someone...this place didn't just leave a bad taste in my mouth but also caused me to feel anger never felt before...terrible place and should be avoided read more
