I'm not sure if they were just having an off night or what... But this was probably the worst Chinese food I've ever had. The chicken was so hard and dry you almost couldn't cut it with a knife. We tried orange chicken, general tso's chicken, and the sesame chicken, all of which were hard and dry. I would say it was pretty much inedible. We took family here and for the four of us it was around $70 for food that we basically couldn't even eat. My in laws paid and I felt guilty for suggesting it. Super disappointed and would take a lot for us to come back. Even my fortune cookie was stale. read more

If you are not super health conscious you are absolutely going to love this spot. Mind you the flavour here are actually authentic Chinese. So expect somewhat bland flavour but has many things going on but in a subtle way. The place is amazing value for money. We are a lot like really many items but just over $110 for 6 adults. The beans were truly amazing. I was a little disappointed with Dan Dan noodles. I expected better. The cauliflower was excellent and so was the fried rice. The tofu tom houn soup were average at best. One thing I would call out is that all dishes were super oily. So expect oily dripping food here. Overall a good mix and variety. The atmosphere is below average - not the best looking place. So ambience is pretty average. I went on Saturday night - the order took really long time ~45-50 minutes. Ordered through Uber eats for delivery. Packaged well and arrived hot. I ordered the Szechuan green beans with a side of shrimp fried rice and also an egg drop soup. Everything was really tasty. The green beans had little heat but wasn't too hot. The beans were very tasty without being overcooked You could add more spice if you want when you order it. They weren't that generous with the shrimp and the fried rice I think I counted only 4. read more

Got some good food from this Chinese restaurant in Normal close to the ISU campus. It has both the Americanized and more authentic options. Sichuan is a long time favorite among students. Best food in this part of town apparently. There's things that can be made very spicy or vegetarian friendly as well. Came in the evening to get carryout. It's got a dining area but there wasn't many people dining in. This is more of a place for taking it to go it seems. Just as well because it looks pretty lame inside. Pretty bare walls. It's about $12 for an entree. We got the Ma Po Tofu. It's usually made with beef. Make it vegetarian without it. This had a very hot spice. Has to be one of the best Chinese restaurants in the area. It's closed Mondays. They have plenty of options for vegans and vegetarians. read more

This downtown gem can get crowded, but the small space manages to keep the tables from being jammed together. The menu offers a decent variety of dishes. I've enjoyed the ones I've tried so far and plan to keep coming back. My only gripe is that the soy and Chinese yellow mustard are served in the same old packets you get at fast food places. read more

Love Sichuan - I get the Sichuan style satuteed string beans no meat with tofu with a side of fried rice about once a week - the flavors are delicious. The employees are also so nice! Portion sizes and prices make sense. read more

We just wanted a quick bite and literally walked past this little establishment on a stroll from the Marriott. We were quickly greeted by a cracked door and a woman asking if we wanted to order something. Apparently the restaurant has been closed to dine in service since Covid. We decided to order shrimp fried rice, steamed dumplings, and an eggroll. Service was quick, we grabbed an outdoor seat close by and was pleasantly surprised by what was in front of us. The shrimp fried rice was exactly what we had hoped it would be authentic. It had carrots and peas, and nice sized shrimp. The flavor was so good! The steamed dumplings were magnificent with a hint of ginger, that wonderful dipping sauce...so so good! The eggroll was okay. I've had better, I would've like it to cook for just a little more. Curry Fried Rice was nice and spicy. Chicken Skewers and the Crab Rangoons were also crispy and delicious.

I have been here multiple times and have not been disappointed. The scallion pancakes and peanut sauce dumplings are to die for. For entrees, I recommend twice cooked pork and crispy spicy chicken. read more

We just finished our Sichuan delivery dinner and are trying to figure out how this place is so highly rated? Even if you account for the expected delivery vs. on-site consumption difference, the temperature of the food was definitely NOT the problem as everything was borderline hot upon opening, the problem was that it just didn't TASTE like much more than 2.5 stars. The rubbery scallion pancakes were not very flavorful, the puny $2 egg rolls were also bland, and the crab Rangoon texture and too-sweet taste disappointed. Only highlight was the Chicken Mei Foon (angel hair) which was both yummy and plentiful. All in all, I can't go higher than 3-stars and only given that it was delivery, but more importantly, we won't likely be re-visiting any time soon. read more

I was blown away--I was 80% sure I was going to get some halfway congealed grub scooped out of this afternoon's lunch buffet. Usually when I want fresh, crispy vegetables I have to go for Thai, but this place got it right. I ordered the "Chicken in Flaming Pan" specialty. The food was great. We ordered crab Rangoon, egg rolls, sesame chicken and General Tso's chicken. The chicken is large chunks of white meat and the portions are good. The egg rolls are the best I've had in town. The crab Rangoon was crispy on the outside and creamy in the middle, and tasted fantastic. read more

Their food is incredibly tasty, especially the Dan Dan noodles. They were the best I've ever had in the US. Finally some flavor! I'm Shang-Hai Chinese and since moving into town I've been been searching for something that tastes like home. Try the Shang-Hai style rice cakes. They're a fun change if you usually get chow mein fried noodles. The spice is crisp and sharp, just like Sichuan should be. Excellent food! I really like Sichuan. It's not a General Tso's strip mall type Uber-Americanized quantity over quality Chinese slop house. For those of you who like the Chinese basics they have them. I don't fool with that stuff. Although if the egg rolls are any indication it's probably good. I've been hitting the Sichuan menu a lot. If you are trying to avoid meat, there are items that don't indicate meat but you get meat. So I just make sure I say no meat. The Sichuan fried tofu is good. The Sichuan string bean is good. Pro-Tips: Basic spicy isn't anything you will remember in the morning. So if you want to joyfully recall you ate hot food yesterday you have to ask them to spice it up. It's the Midwest so they have no expectations that you can use chopsticks. If you are getting Togo order ask for chopsticks. No makes me feel more American than digging into good Chinese with a plastic spork. If Sichuan was in say Chicago or NYC it's not 5 star but for Bloomington a 5 star option for sure. I have ordered delivery from here at least 5 times now. The food is delicious. They're customer service is excellent. The speed of delivery is awesome! The pricing is a bit high for how much they give you though. The portion size is on the small size and the price is on the extra large size. If those two issues were changed for the better I would definitely give them a 5 star review. To many customers those factors matter a lot! read more
