I don't usually leave reviews, but this experience was unacceptable. We placed an order around 6:00 PM this evening. Our previous order had mistakes as well, but we chose not to complain. Unfortunately, this order was incorrect again, and we still remained patient. The most frustrating part happened later in the evening when the driver returned after 10:00 PM with an attitude, stating they could not accept a $20 bill because it was missing a small part of the side. The face and serial number were still clearly visible. And it wasn't an issue when I handed it to him, along with a 30% tip (less than 2 mile drive). I have to be up for work at 3:45 AM, and I did not appreciate having to deal with this late at night when I should have already been in bed. Let's be honest here. This is the best take out American Chinese food within 10-15 miles. Now since they have new owners you have to stick to the basics like the stuff that gets ordered often but that's with every Chinese restaurant. Sesame chicken, the general, dumplings, fried rice, lo mein, and many other items are delicious and will exceed your expectations. Now I will give you all a note for optimal Chinese take out experience. Always have your own soy sauce at home. No packets. Ew gross. Go to your local market and look for Sweet Mae Ploy sauce if you like sweet garlicy spicy sauce for your grab ragoon. Go get some Bachan sauce original for your egg rolls. These are must haves for American Chinese take out. Please check this place out and support a local Chinese family!!! The mom and son that work there work their a$$ off. This has been our go to place for Chinese takeout for many years. Food is always fresh and tasty. They also offer delivery with friendly drivers. Some of the dishes can be a little too sweet, like General Tso's chicken. You will get a lot of food for your money. We are always amazed at how heavy the delivery bag is! read more

To be very honest with you, I didn't realize that Chinese/American food was so very, very tasty, until I tried this China Garden on University Blvd, here in Middletown. Please believe me when I say this is my favorite place to eat, the food the family oriented atmosphere and they pay very close attention to detail, so everything is cooked the way you like it. if you get a chance stop by and order some mouth watering Chinese food, I guarantee you'll be hooked like me!! This was the worst and overpriced Chinese Food I have ever had. The Seseme Beef was 98% breading and very little beef and the sauce was so sweet it was disgusting. Thru most of it away. I have to admit, we've been coming here for years. It's not the end all, be all of American-Chinese cuisine, but it'll do if you're in the mood for something Asian for dinner. And quite frankly, the food quality has started to go downhill. My problem is with the staff. They are curt, bordering on rude. While we were waiting on our dinner, one of the cooks started laughing at our order, turned around and told the other cooks and just kept going on and on. No, I don't speak Mandarin or Cantonese, but I can pick out a word or two, especially when our order was the one he was obsessing over. And the "hostess" said nothing! Not even that he needed to be quiet as the customers are sitting right there. China Garden is HANDS DOWN the BEST Chinese takeout restaurant in at least a 10 mile radius. Their quality and taste are unmatched. Our food has always been fresh and scorching hot whether it was delivered or picked up. My boyfriend and I religiously order the same thing every time, a large vegetarian delight, an order of vegetable mi fung, some white rice and plenty of spring rolls to share. The flavors and freshness are on point every. single. time. I cannot rave enough about this place. Their prices are extremely fair for the quality and serving size of the dishes as well. Plus there's the added bonus of free spring or egg rolls with orders over $10! We are and always will be loyal customers. This Chinese restaurant has won a national award. Please don't ask me what it's for. It's an AWARD WINNING RESTAURANT. When my husband and I were hosting a student visiting from China, she was interested in going here. Why go to a Chinese restaurant in Middletown, OH when you're from China? I don't know. I don't think I'd go to an American restaurant in China..... But we did take our visiting friend, who had the opportunity to speak Mandarin (she wanted to speak Cantonese :( ) with several people working there, so she was happy. She also praised the food, but I'm not sure it was an honest assessment. I don't ever remember her criticizing a place we ate. That said, I do enjoy the food here and the generous portions. The folks who work here are always friendly and efficient. There's never a long wait for the meal, and it tastes delicious. Of course, I only get sweet and sour chicken, so I can't really offer much about the other menu items. The pork fried rice is very good. The food does not taste too greasy to me, but it still has that "I'm eating in a strip mall Chinese fast food restaurant" effect. The decor is clean and neat, but not necessarily cozy. The search for good Chinese continues. I am not pleased with the main course. We got shrimp and snow peas and shrimp and broccoli. The shrimp was really ODD tasting. My son who loves shrimp took one bite and said "mom call them and tell them the shrimp is spoiled". The spring rolls were crunchy but bland. And the crab Rangoon were tasteless and chewy. Same with the pork fried rice, blah. I didn't order combo plates but that's what I got. I guess it worked out since we didn't eat it and the combos are cheaper. I called. They offered to replace it IF I brought the food back. I said no thanks. No I'm out 20 bucks and I feel queasy from the weird shrimp I ate. The good Chinese food search continues. read more

This place will 3.5 stars. It was little better than just A-ok & Yeah I am a fan. This place has more stars than any other Chines restaurants I reiewed on Yelp. Since I was visiting Ohio, I thought I should try local restuarant other than the chain restaurant. Their menu was long. I mean long. Not so sure how can can cook over 50 different kind of dish... Probably the best Chinese food in Middletown area. It isnt decorated real nice and the chairs are uncomfortable but they make it for it with great service and pretty good food. Price is reasonable but the drink selection (cans or 2 liters only) is a weird touch. The orange chicken and Schezuan Chicken is very good along with the egg rolls. I love eating here with my girlfriend. She loves it too. We like to get the crab Rangoon as an appetizer. I get the gen Taos chicken or the pork ribs or the sweet and sour chicken. Egg rolls are always good. The pork fried rice is yummy. My girlfriend likes to get the garlic chicken, and the steamed dumplings, and lomein. They also bring your food out super fast when you dine in. It's definitely the best Chinese in Middletown. Don't listen to the haters on here. YUM. We have eaten here quite often (more than two or three times a month) for the past several years. They always cook to order, the food is piping hot and fresh and the staff is very pleasant and efficient. After eating here so often, they got to know what our favorites were. We loved the double cooked pork, the kung pow chicken, the sesame chicken. The spicy dishes were not overly hot. We've moved away and will miss eating this good food. It's not a fancy restaurant but what it lacks in ambiance it makes up for in price, quantity and quality. We REALLY miss having a delicious chinese take out nearby.
