Their food is amazing and large portions. The staff are always so friendly. If you're in the mood for chinese food you gotta give this place a try read more

Love, love, love Hunan Bistro! The flavors feel more authentic than your usual Chinese fare, with lots of garlic, ginger, and five spice. Portions are generous. I especially enjoy the pork, which I'm not usually a fan of in Chinese food. It has the warm five spice flavor and is very tender. I also like that they add greens to the won ton soup (cabbage and maybe bok choy tops?) Also don't miss the crab rangoons! They seem to contain actual crab and aren't overly sweet. Lastly, you gotta try the viral fruit shaped ice cream pops. They're a bit pricy at $8.95, but a fun experience to eat. I had the mango and enjoyed it thoroughly. Hunan Bistro is my new go-to for Chinese takeout. Try it -you won't regret it! read more

Suggested by a friend. Quality food and service. Hidden gem for sure. If you're looking for great Chinese food. Stop here

The Chicken Pad Thai was very good. I asked for a little less spice than normal and it was just right. The portion was generous. This was my first visit and I will be going back. My food was ready when I arrived and there were a fair number of patrons for a Sunday at 6pm. read more

Got takeout from here so I cannot speak of the ambiance or the service. But my food was amazing and hot. The spring rolls are delicious. Enjoyed the lo mein. Only thing that was weird was the sweet n sour sauce. Overall great food and will eat here again. read more

This restaurant is a diamond sitting in an ugly strip mall. Listen: deal with the badly designed parking lot and get in here for major deliciousness! My first visit was take out, then returned to dine in. It's lovely inside. Comfortable seating and really spacious. You'll be greeted right away and you can pick your seat and they will wait on you. There is also a cozy little sitting area by the counter if you are doing takeout and need to wait. Staff seems to be small as in one immediate family but they do a great job, including special requests (hold the broccoli!) and answering all your questions about their offerings. When it comes to Chinese food, I want the authentic stuff with minimal if any Americanized treatment. I'm looking for hot chili oil, Szechuan peppers, unique and exotic flavor combos, plenty of mouth-numbing heat, and soft, tender meats. So happy to report, you will find those here. Don't miss the Red Oil Chao Shou app which is steamed wontons in hot chili oil with just a hint of sweetness. Liked it so much, got a second order to go. Orange Chicken was fantastic, intense flavor, and Szechuan Beef was perfect. High points for the Curry Chicken as well. The earlier menu photos showed me Sesame Cold Noodles on the menu. I headed over there drooling to find that the menu has been revised; it's no longer on there! People weren't ordering it! Oh, the humanity! BUT.... the lovely charming hostess said, "I can make it for you" - JOY. And she did, two times now, and it's off the charts. It's got a nutty vibe and I took medium heat which is underlying and builds as you eat. Wonderful! Highly recommend you get this special order. All in all, complete satisfaction and plan to return. read more

First time we came loved it. It seems each time we come it gets worse. Today everything was too spicy to eat and I brought a guest so it was regrettable. She took 1 bite of the hot and sour and was done. The flavors were wrong. The candy at the end was even bad. Doubt I will be back. read more

This is the 3rd time I have eaten here with the same results. The service was great the food could not get any better and the restaurant was spotless tables had cloth table cloth since I am a sloppy eater I was almost ashamed to eat on them only downside was the parking lot which was none of their fault. It is a hidden gem in Middletown behind Burger King. I will be back read more

Ate here for lunch with wife. We were about the only people dining in--looked like most of their business was carryout. Despite having white tablecloths, the prices here are surprisingly reasonable. Lunch specials which include rice, egg roll AND soup were only 8 bucks--it doesn't get any better than that. Everything we had was great. Service was friendly. It seemed a little different here because no one came to the table with a bill--you just go to the register in the back and they tell you what you owe. Hope to visit here again when we're in this area. read more

This is some of the best Chinese food I've had. My wife and I ordered chicken with broccoli and Mongolian beef. Both had excellent flavor, and the portions were generous. I will return here whenever I'm in town. read more

Hubby & I stopped in for a late lunch. It was right at 3:00 & they graciously allowed us to order from the lunch specials menu. Hubby ordered Stir Fried Beef with green onions. His meal came with steamed rice, an egg roll & egg drop soup. I got Mongolian Beef which came with steamed rice, an egg roll and sweet & sour soup. The food came out quickly & was steaming hot. Both soups were excellent. The egg rolls were pretty much just cabbage & bland. The rice was cooked just right. I liked the Mongolian Beef but hubby didn't care for his entree. I tasted his & it was meh. Service was very good. I would eat here again. read more

Great food!!! The General Tso's Tofu is excellent and vegan! It was a large portion and could easily make two meals. The tofu was perfectly fried and the sauce was very tasty. My friend had the Singapore noodles and said the beef was probably a tenderloin because it was so tender and it was delicious. It is a locally owned business which makes it even more special. The staff were super accommodating and happy to give suggestions. It was a very comfortable setting. There is lots of parking and it is easy to find in a large strip mall. I saw that they also utilize DoorDash, GrubHub and Uber Eats. I will go back! It was excellent food and supporting local business is a big perk. read more

Food is delicious Everyone is so nice We have never eaten in house we have always done carry out read more

We have dined here a half dozen times and have never been disappointed. The place is beautiful and the food is outstanding. You can easily tell they make the spring rolls instead of buying frozen and the crab rangoon is just as special. Their competition doesn't even come close. read more

Hunan Bistro - Chinese Near Me - Middletown, Ohio

I was pleasantly surprised how good the food was here... my parents live close by and I decided to get taken out here while visiting them over the holidays! We tried the Szechuan beef, orange chicken, beef and broccoli, General Tso, and several of the appetizers... all were fresh and and of good quality! So much that we decided to go back a week later and eat in the restaurant! The interior was clean and simple! There could've been more decor but honestly it's simplistic atmosphere was still pleasant. The waiter was very nice and the service was fast! I will be going back when in the Middletown area! It's nice to find a family small business to support. read more

The food was a little too saucy but the flavors were all good. The location could be better. We ordered Togo so can't comment on the service except that the order was ready on time. read more

Good legit americanized Chinese food here. Nothing to complain about whatsoever. The servers (family owned) were very nice and quick and the everything ordered - fried rice, rangoons, kung pao beef - were all excellent. The only issue is the ambience is depressing - not the restaurant itself which is spotless and clean and orderly - the fact that at 6 on a Sunday not one other person or couple were eating here. AND good value - each of us wound up with a lunch sized takeout portion to take home. Also Middletownians like all other SW Ohioans are idiots with no idea how to drive, so watch the poorly designed parking lot so you don't get run over or backed into. (seriously) I'd highly recommend for take out too. read more

From the moment we walked in, everything was clean and elegant. Even the restrooms were clean and well equipped. The service was excellent and the staff was cordial. But the very best part was the food. It was well prepared, nicely displayed and delicious. Of course, we'll be back. read more

Looked up Chinese restaurants in Middletown and found this one & it had good reviews so we thought we'd try it. Don't just a book by its cover bc it's in a shopping center beside a vape shop behind Burger King. The inside of the restaurant is very nice. We had wonton soup, house rice which is fried rice with shrimp, chicken, beef and pork. Had general tso chicken with spring roll and kung pao beef with egg roll. Food was very good with big portions. Water is served in a nice glass, service was good. Will be back. read more

This place is amazing! Super clean when we walked in. Excellent service! Food was hot, fresh, and sooo good! We got Wonton soup. It was delicious. It had some cabbage in the broth as well as the dumplings. I've never had it that way, but I loved it. We had Sweet and Sour Chicken and Sesame Chicken. My husband said it was the best sesame chicken he's ever had! We will definitely go back!! Great portions and prices! Very sweet family who owns it. Customer service was great. They went above and beyond. read more

Great quality of food, great lunch prices and a lot of great options for spicy food lovers.

Hunan is a great hidden gem in Middletown. I have always gotten take out. The food is always ready when promised, fresh and delicious. The service is great. My favorite dishes are the scallion pancakes and the General Tso chicken. We rarely have leftovers. read more

We stopped by for lunch today and I have to say I was greatly impressed. Crab rangoons were excellent, as was the sweet and sour sauce with them. The hot and sour and wonton soups were the best I am aware of in the area. Very flavorful and fresh. The wontons in them were chock full of deliciously seasoned pork. We had Hunan chicken and Chicken Lo Mein, both excellent. Portions of everything were generous. Pay no attention to the parking lot. Hunan Bistro is well worth your visit. We'll be back. read more

Fast delivery, fresh ingredients, and really tasty. Highly recommend. Will definitely order next trip too!

firstly, when i walked in it smelled like cigarettes. my first instinct was to walk out but was talked into eating here with a family member. we get our food and every thing tasted horrible, the chicken was soggy. everything tasted like it was frozen and then reheated. In the car ride home my son puked all over himself and I feel like I'm going to shit my pants. will not be going back and no one should eat here read more

Some of the best Chinese food we have had in a long time. The service was great. Definitely will eat here again.
