China King Buffet is one of few places that is actually a good value!!! I love that they offer duck on their buffet! Main reason why I go there! Also love the chinese spare ribs, chicken on stick, tsos, sweet/sour chicken, beef'n'broccoli, bourbon chicken, hot/sour soup, and more! There's a ton of options, including soups, main dishes, sides, desserts, and condiments. It's my go-to chinese, as I enjoy having a little of all my faves! P.S. : Not sure what some certain previous reviewer expects pricewise, but it is entirely unrealistic! It's all you can eat! And being a buffet, obviously the food is going to be more than 2 minutes old, but that doesn't make it bad quality! China King Buffet is pretty fresh as far as buffets go anyway! Went here with 3 family members for the buffet at supper time. Our bill with 2 Pepsi colas & 2 waters was $63. The food was hit or miss. Most of the hot bar food was dry & tasted warmed over. The sushi was good so I mostly ate that. The salad bar was decent also. My son's cup of water was not refilled the entire 90 minutes we were there so I ended up giving him my water. This place is absolutely nasty. We went there with a big group of people. Not only was the food very cold but my sister found a hair in her rice. When it was brought to the lady's attention in the front desk, she wanted me to show her where the hair was which was crazy to me because who lies about that. It was so disgusting that no one touched their food after that. The guy came over to me and my sister and told us to never come back and was talking shit in their language. Most of the food on the buffet was avg. to above avg., but two items were a pleasant surprise. The crawdads were Chinese seasoning, and steamed perfectly, they were awesome. I met a friend for lunch at the x-Golden Dragon that is under new management with a new name "China King". We thought we'd give it a try because we hadn't heard anything about the food quality since the new management took over. It was our first time and our last time to eat there. The two star rating is actually being gracious. We arrived at 11AM, thinking the food would be very fresh when first put out. WRONG! Today the appetizers were for the most part cold and tasted like they were put out from the day before. Even the crab rangoon was cold and not fresh. The chicken on a stick that I usually love was cold and tough - definitely NOT fresh. The mushrooms and sautéed green beans are also favorites of mine and they were cold. My friend chose different items than I did, and most of her food was also either cold, not fresh or tough. By the time we made it over to the other bars, we were basically disgusted and had lost our appetites. We tried a few items with the beef and chicken and the quality just wasn't on par with the x-Golden Dragon. We didn't see anyone who looked like a manager to talk with about our experience. We had a very nice meal. The variety was terrific. They kept replenishing the pans. The dishes were labled. Everything we ate was fresh and hot. The desserts were pretty standard. I used to eat here under the different name about 8 years ago. I remember the food then being pretty tasty. I quit eating here for 2 reasons. The first was I was fat like way way way too fat. The second was because of management. A manager once came by me and maliciously shoved me around. Even when they had changed names I still refused to go back. Then today after having craved some chinese for the past year decided I would stop by and taste test all their food. Upon entering the restaurant it looked tired, dated, and very dirty. The clientele were all basically the same, morbidly obese people whom didn't seem to have anywhere else to eat. I arrived at 3:35 pm and found that the lunch price was no longer in effect. I did ask if I could receive the lunch price as I hadn't been here for years. I was told yes only to be forced to pay the dinner price. It was not worth it. I tried most of the food available. All the different chicken's tasted old and as if they were the cheapest cuts possible. The rice and noodles were bland and had no taste to them. I tried a chicken meatball and it was good but not that's not saying much. What surprised me most about the food was that they had fresh salmon and crab legs. Those were pretty decent. Good job on that. My waitress was Juan (a girl surprisingly), she was very nice to talk to. However I did see her do something inexcusable. Halfway through my lunch I mean, dinner, I needed more water. As she walked back I followed because I needed to wash my hands real quick. I saw her dump my used glass full of water and ice right into the ice cache under the soda fountain. Ewwww. That's an easy way for someone else to get sick or even seriously ill. In the restroom I noticed there was no hot water at all. Just cold 35 degree water sprinkling out of the faucet. I did not perform any business in the restroom thank God. Overall my review of China King Buffet is abysmal. I won't return here because the majority of the food is barely passable. I've had better at a free breakfast buffet at church. read more

This is one of the few Chinese buffets around the area, and it's our favorite. The corn nuggets weren't fresh so my dad was a little bummed out, but everything else is generally good & fresh every time we come through. Our waitress was very nice and checked on us often. This place can be a hit or miss depending on when you eat there. If you arrive between 4 PM-7 PM the food is usually very good. However, if you arrive after the lunch rush or after dinner rush, the food quality and choices goes down. Also if you arrive after 7:00 PM the customer service goes down, and they want you to hurry up with your meal so they can close. The suggestions I do have for the restaurant would be replace your faded pictures, replace the dirty worn out carpeting, and work on the lighting. One last thing change up your desert offerings. If you want Chinese in Middletown - Go elsewhere. Having eaten there on a few occasions, I feel confident in saying, "It's not me - It's them". The rice was old (tasted like it was made hours - if not days - earlier), and dried out. Many of the food items were unlabeled, so you had to guess at what it was. Several of the items tasted "off" - Not sure if it was due to being out too long, or improper cooking. It was just awful, and never again will I set foot inside there.
