Absolutely love this place! So happy there's an authentic Chinese restaurant here in Temecula! The owner came up to us and welcomed us and even let us know if there's something we want that's not on the menu just ask. I saw live crab and asked if they can make Cantonese style fried crab, they sure did! ^_^ My boyfriend has never really had authentic Chinese food, since i grew up eating (im half Chinese ) these dishes, I thought I'd introduce him to Peking Duck! its only about 18bucks for a whole duck because they just opened, so get it before the deal's gone! Omg... it was so crispy! Unfortunately they ran out of the steamed dumplings so I ordered the handmade pot stickers instead which were still yummy. My 5yr old, my boyfriend and I demolished the crab and pot stickers, there was left over duck but that's just because there was so much! Then the owner came and asked if I liked sesame balls, they're basically a small ball covered in toasted sesame seeds and in the middle it's either mung bean or sweet red beans, in this case he gave us the sweet red bean ones. Had several different dishes and all were bland and very oily. Tasted like everything was cooked in the same grease (too much of it) and all the food had the same underlying flavor. Never thought I would ever plug any Chinese restaurant in Temecula but today my lovely wife Melissa took me out for a nice birthday meal at this new Chinese Restaurant called "China Chef" (formerly "Mings") on Ynez. We were shocked and pleasantly surprised as to how authentic and incredible the meal was. I can truly say that it's on par with many, many great Chinese restaurants out there. They say that they have been opened for only 3 months and business has been slow for them. You guys owe yourself a great meal there and support this local restaurant! We have ordered 3 times since moved to riverside county at the end of last year and we love it!

Dropped in here during that off time right before dinner rush and the food was good! We got the orange shrimp, a fish dish, some fried rice and vegetables, which the server recommended. All the food was tasty and we were satisfied with the flavors. The vegetables that were recommended were also good but a bit more pricey than we thought they would be, so if the server recommends something be sure to ask the price of that item. Overall, though, I would say this place is a bit pricey for Chinese food during dinner at least. They may have lunch deals so I'll have to check them out again during lunch. read more

I have lived all over the world even having had Chinese food in the only Chinese restaurant off the coast of west Africa and have had Chinese in the Midwest and also authentic Chinese in all places "Alaska" (which was fantastic). This is some seriously legit Cantonese food. As soon as the guy knows you speak Chinese, he'll offer you anything you want even if it's off the menu. I loved that he was willing to customize certain dishes I liked a certain way and the dishes were not overly greasy. You know it's good when the chefs are Chinese. They have the typical Panda Express type dishes but also authentic Chinese food as well. Service was impeccable. He was very attentive and very friendly. I was here with my Filipino boyfriend's family and he knew what foods they liked and knew some Tagalog. Impressive! We go to try it today. The price is too high comparing with the price. And my son cried all the meal because the environment there is so oil. We can smell the cooking oil and the furniture is like at least 20 years. Good thing is the food is too hot and need to wait for 20 minutes to start eating. Lobster with noodle is 35 dollar and more. I have been going to this place almost every week since under the new management, and my wife goes there with her girl friends very often as well. Went at 6pm on a Saturday evening an we were the only people there. Food was made with poor quality ingredients. Salt and pepper wings were under cooked. Kung Pao chicken had raw vegetables. House fried rice made with short grain rice and was mushy. House fried rice was all busted up and looked like crumbs. We went to this place because of the high Yelp rating. I suspect that the previous reviews were submitted by friends of the owner or something. There is no way that this place is 4.5 stars. Maybe 2 stars on a good day. I don't understand how somebody could make multiple plates of food with no flavor, but they did. Delivery took a really long time and the food ended up being cold also, broccoli beef had tons of broccoli and barely any beef, the orange chicken was dry and tasted like nothing.. literally nothing.. the fried rice looking like they just threw soy sauce on steamed rice on it and called it good, also had no flavor (not even salty). We had our family gathering here last night and everything was perfect. The food was top class amongst similar restaurants in the area, including San Diego where we are from. And this is coming from a Chinese who craves the Cantonese style. We ordered Peking duck, fish fillet, spinach stir fry, and salt and pepper chicken. Wow! Just walked out of China Chef and am still in awe of the amazing meal my boyfriend and I just enjoyed! The Peking Duck was perfection and the soup they made with the bones was even better! Delicious. I got Sesame Chicken and the boyfriend got Orange Chicken. The steamed rice was amazing and sticky, and we used the check-in offer for free cream cheese wontons so the whole takeout order came out to ~$25 for the two entrees + appetizer. They were fast at getting the order ready while we drove over. The portions were great sized and I loved the sesame chicken because it was only lightly breaded and nice and crispy, unlike some generic chain Chinese places! Pork dumplings were soggy and the dough was falling apart and the flavor was okay. Chicken wings were the best thing we had. Crispy, hot, and flavorful. Singapore noodles had a curry flavor which was unusual but it was just okay. The roast duck was good but I've had better. The sesame balls with red bean were hot and yummy, a close second to the chicken. Atmosphere was clean but the overall dining experience could have improved if the host did not wear a tank top - it was just unappetizing. Newly opened Authentic Chinese cuisine in Temecula. Food is Canton style, fresh, and delicious. I enjoyed the Hong Kong style noodles, vegetable spring rolls, and eggplant tofu with garlic. Owner was extremely courteous and welcoming, went over the menu with me and recommended most of the dishes I tried. All were extremely well prepared and well seasoned. I ordered a simple dish to make: beef with broccoli from the lunch special menu. Very bland. It came with soup. The soup was really spicy so I couldn't taste anything other than chili type spice. It also came with an egg role. Holy hell! It tasted like cardboard. I'm guessing it absorbed the taste of the frozen package it came in? Gross!
