This Chilis is just overall disgusting and in massive need of a renovation. It truly smells like a locker room. The tables and booths have been the same for well over a decade, the leather is ripped on booths, or patched and also the bathrooms are always utterly disgusting. I haven't visited here in almost 9 years! So what changed? Their marketing worked! I've been hearing a lot about their new Smashburger and their "3 for Me" special so off I went to see if it was worth it! Arriving- Easy peasy. It's on the southbound side of US Route 27 with a simple entrance. I'm temporally handicapped with a placard, and I easily found a space close to the entrance. The overall parking lot is typical and fine. Ambience- I walked in and said to myself "Yup, it's a Chili's." It's the same chain look, like all the others. This one looked clean and well maintained. It also looked a little dated and my bartender said he thought it was almost 30 years old. I sat at the bar which seats about 12. Several TVs. Pro Tip- The bar has the usual high chairs but one end of the bar is a couple of feet lower for two seats, so they are available for wheelchair access which is quite rare and I think very cool! Pro Tip- The Wi-Fi is not particularly fast but nice and stable with no password needed. Customer Service- It's been a while since I had a bartender/server this outstanding! I was stunned by his personality and professionalism. He was so awesome he got 10 stars! Food- There was the standard laminated menu, but I was on a mission for the "3 for Me" special. It's one of those deals where you pick three items from 3 lists and is priced at $10.99. I went with Bottomless Chips & Salsa as an appetizer and Smashburger & Fries as an entrée. The deal comes with a fountain drink but for an upcharge I got the Margarita on the rocks. It set me back a total of $15.49 including the upcharge + tax. The Chips & Salsa came out first and I laughed out loud! There was enough to feed an entire table and they were bottomless! They were very thin and fresh out of the fryer. The salsa was thick and mild and tasty. What a deal for a starter! The Smashburger & Fries came next. The fries were piping hot and nicely seasoned. The burger was a very impressive 1/2 pound and perfectly cooked. It has the same veges and cheese plus thousand island dressing as a Big Mac which I believe is intentional. Other than the similar ingredients, this sandwich & fries is so much better than the fast-food version that it's almost embarrassing to compare them. Conclusion- Some of the marketing suggests that with fast-food prices increasing this $10.99 deal is a solid alternative choice and I agree. I'm an older Yelper that's traveled a great deal and over the decades I've been to a lot of Chili's usually because of the location. This Chili's and this "3 for Me" special hit the spot for me! Party of two seated immediately upon arrival for an early midweek lunch. Our server Mara was quick to greet us and take our drink order along with their famous bottomless chips & salsa. What has happened to this restaurant? This place has continued to go down hill for a while now. I used to come to this place all the time growing up. One of my first dates with my wife was here. Our waitress was nice and did do her job and this review does not reflect her at all. When I first walked up to the hostess booth there was no one there, waited a few minutes and she finally came was greeted with it's an hour wait, looking around there was at least 5 full tables empty. Told her I'd wait and was sat down in like 15 min. Ordered our food and was missing crispers and ranch when it came. Once items were brought the ranch was just loose and not thick how it used to be. The corn on the cob was just a mush not crisp at all. The strawberry lemonade which used to be my favorite drink period has been lacking for years now. We order the Black bean patty yesterday. We have eaten there before and ordered the Black bean patty. We did not remember the Black bean patty being extremely spicy. Normally our meal is not more than $10.99. She showed me $13.39. When I got the bill, it was $18.16. With tax and tip about $24.00 give or take a few cents. The Black bean burger was unbearably spicy. I could not eat it, it was so spicy it was unbearable to eat and would have made me sick. I told the waitress. I paid $24.00 for a side of broccoli. I come to chilis all the time I enjoy it a lot, but lately they have been not doing well at all. I think the service is great! The waiters are always super sweet and helpful. I always get the tripple dipper apetizers and they have always been very good but lately (this week especially) it has been awful. I went twice this week, the first time with my best friend. The sliders I got were literally cooked only on one half, and quite frankly, im not even sure how that happens. I went again last night with my boyfriend, and the food was good however, it gave him bad food poisoning and he was extremely sick all night. This has to be the worst run Chilis restaurant in Florida. Three of the last four times we have ordered takeout here we've had major problems and today we are now sitting here waiting for over 45 minutes for our order. They have "lost"our order once and twice blamed it on power outages and computer problems. No attempt has been made to compensate or even apologize for the inconvenience. If I could give this crap hole a 0, I would. I came around 400pm. I was in town for work. I was so hungry and this was the first thing I saw that was not fast food. I actually wish I would've opted for something else. I would have even rather eaten a tuna sandwich from a gas station than what I was served here. I walked in and no one was at the hostess stand. I had to wait a good 5 minutes before anyone acknowledged me, and the place was definitely NOT busy. I saw about 6 tables had people at them, and there were 3-4 people at the bar. They lady who finally saw me apologized and said she is normally the hostess but today she has to be a server. Ummmm, ok? So she sits me at a table and I order an unsweetened tea. She says "Perfect! I made one by mistake so here you go!" I took one sip....SWEETENED. Of course, I couldnt find her for another 5 minutes. When she did come back, I asked for a water and went to order but she left! WTH? She came back 5 minutes or so later, apparently thinking another table was more important? I ordered some chicken and black beans meal with salsa and chips. They chips were so oily that it dripped off the chips. Nasty. The chicken was so dry that it was trying to get to my sweetened tea that I abandoned to get some moisture. The rice was crunchy (????) and the beans has as much flavor as my napkin. Just an awful awful meal. If I ate 1/5 of it, that may have been pushing it. I know this woman saw that, but she didn't ask how anything was or if there was an issue. Here is a surprise, when I was ready to leave, the stupid pay at the table thing didnt work, so I had to.....wait for her to come around again! I have worked in food service before, so I am usually really lenient because so many things can go wrong, but this, this was just inexcusable. Sigh, it always blows my mind how business owners just constantly miss the mark in highlands county. Just have good service and your restaurant will be ultra successful. Service is terrible, the one bartender works, covers the whole restaurant, the manager came out and asked us about the service we told him we were disappointed and service continued to be bad after he came out. My friend asked to speak with the manager and had about a 15 minute conversation in person. Manager said it is corporates fault. and when I went to give the bartender a separate tip I overheard her tell someone that she was told to stay behind the bar and not serve tables. Considering at least three tables would've walked out had she not been covering other peoples jobs I'd say the manager went about that the wrong way. OK I will try to keep this short but there's a lot. We recently moved to the area and decided to try the chilis in town. First time ordering to-go and got home and half te food was missing. Husband went back and they replaced the food and promised a refund but 3 days later they only refunded me $3.24. The bill was over $50! We let it slide. We tried to-go again tonight, giving them the benefit of the doubt. Ordered to-go again. Identical order. Same thing thing but worse. Literally a few fries in one of the meals, paid extra for street corn and it was missing. Ordered shrimp taco and it was cold like they just took it out if the cooler. Ordered a side of Cole slaw, a literal tbs was put in the cup. Also Ordered a spinach quest dip and what was in the cup?....cold spinach leave and a few pieces of shredded cheese on top! Visits Chili's in Sebring. The only restaurant in town that has not lost its consistency. Virus has changed the world but not to this restaurant. We drop on on Monday's and sit at the bar with our regular bartender "K", who is one of the best as she hustles and always has a smile. When we sat down, there no one to be found behind the bar, we waited and then asked the ppl sitting if there was a bartender? They said yes but they hadn't seen him. (Our girl "K" doesn't come in until 5:30). Finally, the bartender comes out and takes our drink order and checks on others at the bar. As soon as "K" comes in the others rolls and asst Mgr comes out and starts telling the waitstaff food will be 40 mins ! The restaurant wasn't busy! There was only 5 ppl at the bar and a couple tables filled. We could see in the kitchen and ppl are just standing around .....How can the kitchen be in the weeds this early? To make a long story short..... this statement caused a lot of guests to leave but it still took over 40 mins. My husband got the chicken Fajitas which came out first and I was told mine would be 15 seconds which ended up being 5 mins. I ordered the Margarita Chicken and once it came out....... I wanted to give this restaurant a zero. I did return since our last review 22 days ago when we had a bad experience. Today when I signed onto yelp I noticed that I received a message to contact the company. Now I will be calling with yet another terrible experience. Our party of six went in today again to order the 10.00 meal deal. We waited approx 15 mins for our drink order it was delivered after we ate our chips and oNion petals. We then ordered our meals. The food was good I had Cajun macaroni with chicken and my husband a steak. We had to find our waitress, Celeste after waiting for our bill for a long while. The waitress told a couple with us that they were receipt #3 so they brought up the bill on the automatic do it yourself pos. After they paid it was handed to us I always review any bill and we were charged regular prices for our meals and charged for chips which were ours and side of salad which was a part of the 10.00 deal. We were also charged for our free appetizer that I showed the waitress that I had a coupon on my app. Our bill went from 48. Dollars to 25.00. I then told the waitress thAt we all wanted paper bills. Our friends that already paid were also overcharged 20.00. After straightening out all of our bills and we missed our movie show time the ? Manager cane over and announced to my husband and I that she wrote off our bill because we were in invite fed. Excuse me we were NOT the only ones inconvenienced the other two couple with us were as well.
