Went to Chili's on a Wednesday night and boy was I disappointed!! There was a 20 minute wait to be seated, okay not bad. But when finally seated it took someone 20 minutes to acknowledge our existance and take our drink order. By then we were ready to order. They had an appetizer listed for Parmesean Garlic Sweet Potato fries so we requested them. 10 minutes later our waitress tells us they don't offer them anymore. Okay, nevermind then, we don't want the fries period. Also, did you know if you order the Fajita Trio that it doesn't come with beans and rice? You have to order that as an addition to your meal for extra $$. I open my silverware and there is a crusted piece of old nasty food stuck on my fork. Gross!! Takes the waitress an additional 5 minutes to bring me new silverware. By the time our food finally gets to our table, everything is COLD. My family is starving by now so we just suck it up and eat it because who knows how long it will take to get NEW HOT food. I was VERY disappointed in the service and food. The one star rating was for the quality of our food and not the service from our waitress, Jessie who was nothing short of phenomenal. I am honestly confused as to why his place is so busy with lines out the door. The hubs and I came here for a quick late small dinner and order drinks and an appetizer. It took a while for our appetizer to arrive but no fault of our waitress. The food was sub par, cheap, mediocre and just overall boring. The chicken was rubbery, the egg rolls were mushy and the fried pickles were way over cooked. I ordered the Presidente Margarita that tasted like water with lime. How disappointing after a strenuous work week. If you seriously want to waste money, by all means go to Chili's. This Chili's is the bomb place to hang . I have been living in the Santee area for 2 of the last 3 years I've been working in San Diego and Chili's has been my home base . I'm a big fan of the frozen margarita , and have never been disappointed here . Of the many menu items I like , I've enjoyed the flatbreads , steaks , fajitas and even their chili . My staple is a house salad and a steak (medium ) and have Always enjoyed my meals here. The bartenders ( mostly women) have treated me great . Made me part of the family and have always taken care of me, which is cool when you're working and living ' out of town '. Dad, Uncle, Sis and I went to this Chili's for lunch one day last week. I was very impressed. When our server took our drink and food orders, she didn't write them down. Sis and Dad both asked for something not to be on their orders. We thought for sure something would get messed up with the orders. But nope, they came out just right. She checked on us several times during our meal and offered refills on drinks. The food came out in a reasonable amount of time even though it was busy. She brought out the check soon after we got our food. I appreciate that. I considered giving them 5 stars. But since I've only been there once, I'm giving them 4. Went in for late lunch (2 of us) and hostess told us the wait would be less than five minutes so we are standing waiting and she says we need to wait outside due to covid. That'd be completely fine yet she says nothing to the group of almost 10 people crowded inside the entryway where people are trying to walk through. How is that not a covid violation? So we wait outside in the rain but end up waiting in our cars because the "5 minute wait" is more like 15. Before turning to yelp we told the manager about the issue yet people still crowded in the entryway, so I guess it's only us that aren't allowed in! We get our food and it's COLD. Went in this morning with my son and his girlfriend... 3 employees were working and not one acknowledged us. Waited a few minutes and a couple came in right after us and they were seated right away and was greeted warmly and orders were taken. Hostess finally came up to us with a shitty attitude and said it's gonna be a 5 minute wait, we said ok. There was about 15 people in there eating at the time. We decided to sit at the bar so we could watch the game, still no one came over to take our order. Worst customer service at this chilis. My family and I came here on Valentines Day. We should have known there was something wrong when this restaurant was the only one with 10-15 min wait. Out food was overcooked. The salmon was burnt from the bottom. A burger was so over done it had no taste. My rib eye which I ordered as medium rare was "done" and tough. We returned the salmon, because we figured out they did not know how to cook seafood. There was one thing good. The side the table avocado, but maybe because they did not have to cook it. Yes, the management was very apologetic and even knocked a few bucks off our bill, but I was glad to pay the full price and get a decent meal. read more

This is a good restaurant when its empty which is rare. They just can't handle the demand when it gets busy. We went here last night and they made mistakes on two of the four orders...50% defect rate. they don't give enough sauce and they were really slow filling drinks. we have also ordered online for pickup which is a great service. but they never have the food ready when they promise it. there is usually a bottleneck at the point of sale. by they time its your turn and they go over your order your food has been sitting on the counter for a while. I have still found mistakes and usually have to reheat the food. They have become too popular and do not have adequate capacity to meet the demand. read more

There were 4 of us in our party, and we all went for the 2 for $20 options, which comes with an appetizer, and 2 entrees. Both of our appetizers didn't come out before the entrees, and then, somehow 2 of our entrees didn't even get put in apparently. The entrees that did come out we're not hot. One was the chicken fajitas and the skillet wasn't even hot. The 2 people in our party were done eating by the time we got our entrees, and one of the orders wasn't even correct. Perfect place for a dinner date. My boyfriend and i enjoyed their dinner for two with drinks for only $35!! We had a big and delicious house salad then had two presidente margaritas with two entree plates and a salted caramel molten. I was so full by dessert. It was phenomenal . i joined their chili rewards club for free also. Looking forward to returning with friends . This place is disgusting. My husband wanted to eat at the olive garden however I forgot my purse in my car and we drove in his. I'm thirty two the olive garden wouldn't serve me without an I.D so we walk across the parking lot's here. Getting drinks here was not a problem, although they tasted like a sugar drink with no alcohol. The food was horrible. Tasteless crap the bill was outrageous for the quality of food they served . I stopped here with a friends on our girls day out to grab a beer and some free tortilla chips. Much to our surprise they only serve the free chips and salsa on weekday...WTF!! So we ordered our beers, paid for the chips, gave our bartender some crap for not having any good recommendations for a good HH in East County and left. Our salads are rarely fresh, food will taste old sometimes and food here can have that "sitting out all day" taste. I got a combo plate with a soft chicken taco, chicken enchilada and chicken quesidilla. It came with black beans and lime chili rice. My favorites were the chicken enchilada and rice. Delicious. My husband got a combo plate with a 6 oz. Sirloin, ancho salmon, skillet mashed potatoes and onion rings. He said the salmon was delicious but did not feel the ancho sauce went well with salmon and he also told me his steak tasted like it was a frozen low quality steak. I like chilis. every once in a while, i get an intense craving for their white chocolate lava cake. seriously, do you know how hard it is to find white chocolate desserts that aren't jacked up with raspberries or strawberries or some other kind of fruity sabotage? anyway, this location is the closest to casa de kelsey, so it's the one we head to most often. the service can be crap. we've had some very bored waitresses who serve us molasses-style. jeez, gals, get some coffee. we've also had some good service. sometimes it seems like the busier the place, the faster the waitresses...i guess that makes sense. we did have one waitress who knew to remove the salsa from my enchilada soup when i asked for no tomatoes on my sammie. very thoughtful! so, chili's is an infrequent standby. white chocolate lava cake brings the rating up a star! read more

My wife and I eat here a lot, both in the restaurant and as a to go order. The food has always been exceptional. I highly recommend the Cajun Chicken Pasta. My wife usually gets the sirloin with the loaded mashed potatoes and really enjoys it. The only reason I gave it 4 stars instead of five is that their take out service can be off on their timing. There have been times that we get there when they say it will be ready and it is but more often then not I spend five to ten minutes (sometimes longer) sitting inside waiting for them to finish cooking something or put the order together. The advantage of takeout is you save time sitting in a restaurant waiting for your food; often times it is not the case here. Again food is always hot and amazing. read more

I used to avoid Chilis like the plague. I thought it was gross Not anymore. They seemed to revamp the menu and the service. Been here 2x in the last month and a half and it has been excellent both times. First time I was with a group of 5 and Erin was our server and she was excellent at her job. Second time we sat in the bar and Jordan was our server and she was also excellent. The food was great as well as the happy hour, too. If you like pickles this is your place. They have house made pickles and OMG. Try them. So GOOD. they are thick cut and delicious. They offer them on the side and on burgers and deep fried as an appetizer. I definitely recommend! Also, they do get very busy on weekends! Get there before 5:30PM to be fed before the rush is there! read more

Took my Niece there for her birthday at her request. First it was 20 to 30 minutes wait time which was fine turned into 45 minutes. We sit down and we're asked her if we want to drinks just water and a few of the margaritas. Took us an hour for drinks the bar didn't look busy. My boyfriend and I have been to this Chili's for lunch twice recently for their 2 for $20 deal where you get an appetizer, two entrees, and a dessert for $20. We were amazed at how quickly they brought out our food. As soon as we decided what we wanted for all the courses, the appetizer was brought out in a couple of minutes, the two entrees immediately after that, and the dessert came as soon as we finished the entrees. Good service in a chain restaurant? Shocking! The reason I didn't give this five stars is that some of their food is "eh." I wasn't too thrilled with the half rack of ribs, and their chicken burger bites aren't that great. I really recommend the chicken crisper tacos, now those are awesome! So i went there Thursday about 5ish to grab a salad and a marg. It was, of course busy and I sat at the bar, as I usually do. The food was great and the drinks were great. (try the rasberry presidente marg) My big issue was the fact that they only had one person working the bar. Keep in mind that this one guy, who buy the way was busting his hump, was resopnsible for the 15+ people at the bar for food and drink orders PLUS making drinks for the entire restaruant. There was just no way he could keep up. Believe me. I spend enough time in bars to know. So thats why the 3 star instead of a 4 or 5. Still a great place to eat and happy our drinks and grub is great, but thanks to certain new economic and health care related laws, I have noticed places like this are trying to run on as thin of staff as they can. I have been to this chili's restuarant many times and have had great dining experiences; however, last night was one horrible exception. It was a Saturday, so it was prob busier then their norm. We arrived at 8:45pm due to the power outage in El Cajon, so i understand that it was towards the end of everyone's shift, but the restuarant was a horrendeous mess, the ENTIRE restaurant! We first went to the bathroom to wash our hands. It was obvious that the restroom had not been cleaned in some time and the automatic paper towel dispensers were empty. Upon exiting the bathroom and walking towards our table, one could see into the open kitchen. It looked like a classroom of 2 and 3 year olds had had a food fight. One would expect the kitchen to be messy on a busy Saturday night, but not to the extent that the quality and integrity of the food comes into question. At our table and all the tables around us, there was food on the floors. Not just under the tables, but in the walkways. We sat at our table in the bar area and was shocked at the amount of old food splatter on the walls. It was obvious the walls had not been cleaned in months. It was a very disgusting (almost) dining experience. We left the restuarant before before ordering. Giving this place at least 2 stars, because we have had many good dining experiences here, but this last visit is the reason I wont be returning ever again. read more

Two tables got sat next to us and the waiter and waitress went to each table and took their drink orders right away. A manager even walked by, looked at us and kept going, not saying a word. We left. I've got to give it up for Chili's! For a couple years I really stopped coming here, but I have since returned to find they have gotten their act together in a big way. I can't tell you the last time I had a bad experience that wasn't more than made up for by the management staff. This place definitely understands the concept of good customer service and it keeps us coming back. It's not that we don't expect mistakes to happen, but I DO expect to be treated as a valuable customer when it does, and many companies could learn from Chili's model. I should state though, for the most part my food is always solid and the price can't be beat. They've even started offering some pretty good coupons if you sign up for their email list (like free appetizer or desert). Also, the recent renovations were overdue and bumped them up an extra star.
