Came here Saturday for lunch, pretty decent fish selection and like the dine in option with real utensils and plates. Staff is friendly and helpful. Had a two fish entree and fish tacos. Food came out fresh and warm. Tacos battered fish was crisp and flakey. Fries were surprisingly good. Place is well Kept and clean. Overall not a bad spot lunch for two ran about $40.

"Gotta find the right flavors" Tonight me and my roommate decided to pay the California fish grill a visit! Upon entry the vibes were great. Good music, loved the wallpaper for this location. Although it was a little messy and the tables had some stains. It was still just fine to eat at. The employees here were nice and helpful too! I ordered the grilled chicken plate with cauliflower and grilled zucchini. I also got a side Caesar salad with a side shrimp kabob! I was hungry!!! My roommate got the grilled tilapia with the beans and zucchini. My plate - the chicken was cooked to completion thank goodness and had a good grill on its side. A little bit dry but what else to expect from chicken breast! The cauliflower rice was not bad either. I can definitely taste the lime they put onto it, high seasoning and the caramelized onions was a good touch. I didn't love it personally but there was plenty in quantity which is a plus. For the zucchini I think that if that rosemary was baked on it wouldn't have tasted so potent. Very strong flavor with the rosemary. I wish my zucchini was cooked a lil longer too since I had some pieces raw still. My roommates plate- tilapia was just like tilapia nothing too revolutionary. The beans were interesting with the jalapeño peppers mixed in. She wasn't not a fan. The zucchini she mentioned she had the same remarks. Shrimp skewer- delicious and deveined!!! Im so happy to see that. Not overcooked either and plenty of pieces per skewer it's worth the money. Caesar salad- very tasty fresh and cold. Love the crumble croutons and not too drenched in dressing. A total win for the Caesar salad. Very hard to mess up. Overall I enjoyed a healthy meal here. Got a lot of protein out of today's visit. Paid a little over $20 for everything I wanted. Not bad CFG not bad. I'll be back. Thank you so much!!!!

Always love California fish grill. They have so many options to choose from and it's quick and easy. This place is especially helpful during the lent season to give me choices of seafood. Just be wary of parking because it's next to in and out and that place is always busy.

Wow! For the portions are fantastic. For seafood, the prices are great!. I'm so stuffed. I ordered the shrimp Caesar salad, a bowl of clam chowder and the poke appetizer. Yes, it was a lot of food for me!! My boyfriend order the teriyaki roll club fish with cauliflower rice with pineapple skewers!! Yes! It's a fast food seafood place, but the food is primo. The workers are friendly and they keep the place clean and well kept. It's family friendly. It's a great place to take the family after church service, have lunch after yoga class, or simply order take out. And another unique thing, they have unique beverages. I had to he açaí, blue berry soda which paired perfectly with my meal. We will definitely return!! I'd like to have their fish and chips next time!! I hope you have enjoy the CA Fish Grill.

Don't get me wrong - I love the food here. I've gone back for shrimp skewers and salmon. However, the prices for some sides are a bit shocking. I literally paid $1 each for three asparagus spears. Two coconut shrimp will set you back $6. Yes, two individual shrimp. Ok, they're medium-sized shrimp, but still. In the future I will remember to consider what's "worth it" to me on the menu before randomly ordering whatever sounds good. (That would be the brussels sprouts. Delicious balsamic glaze and a decent-sized portion.) Turns out the pictures on their app aren't kidding. Three spears of asparagus, and two shrimp. That being said, the restaurant was clean, and so was their bathroom. People working the counter and grill were efficient, even during a rush period. Tables all looked clean. If you're not used to putting in your order with a menu board/screen or their app, you might need to be patient. It looked like there was only one person working the counter during the dinner rush on a week night.

7/11/2025 - we went in and no living person to take orders. They went to having two kiosks to order. A lovely person was able ti assist us. Order three meals. Waited 15 minutes and picked it up and ate inside. Very clean and nice inside. Outside were two homeless people though. See photos. 5 stars.

This place has really great food--so great that I didn't even manage to get any pictures of my meal before diving in! Everything was fresh, flavorful, and perfectly prepared. I ordered the shrimp skewers with diced rosemary, zucchini, and kale slaw. It was absolutely delicious and a total win! While I didn't get a picture of my meal, I did manage to snap a shot of a fresh chicken salad made at the restaurant--it looked just as amazing as it must taste. Also, the staff was super friendly and the music playing through the restaurant was chill. If you're looking for quick, tasty, and healthy food, California Fish Grill is the spot to visit. I'll definitely be back for more. Highly

Food. Always good. The service is always friendly even though sometimes it is confusing how to order at the account if it is your first time there. They always keep the restaurant clean and tidy. Very well done!

I went to the California Fish Grill in El Cajon around noon and lucked into a parking spot The lot is small, and is shared by several businesses. Including Dave's Hot Chicken and an In 'N Out with a drive thru. In other words, the parking lot sucks. California Fish Grill, however, does not suck. I walked in and was immediately greeted by the young gentleman, Allen, behind the counter. I placed my order for takeout. I chose the Alaskan Sockeye Salmon with chimichurri sauce, and brown rice and fries as my sides $18.24. I ordered a bottle of Pacifico to enjoy while I waited $5.99. Becky's choice was the Dynamite Shrimp Bowl with brown rice. $15.24 While waiting for my food I noticed that Fire Roasted Street Corn was an available side and immediately regretted ordering the fries. When I tasted the fries, my buyer's remorse was even worse. The salmon was very good. Two fairly thick filets with skin on, grilled nicely. Not dried out at all, the meat was flaky and flavorful. The chimichurri was good, but I think I would have preferred the Sweet Chili Glaze or Garlic Butter. The rice was on point. Both generous portions. The fries were a disappointment. First of all, I wish that they would have packaged them separately from the fish and rice. They were just sort of tossed in there and after the 10 or so minute drive home, they were pretty soggy. The air fryer made them better, but they still weren't great. They had zero seasoning. I had to salt them myself. The Dynamite Shrimp Bowl was dynamite! Both Becky and I would totally order it again. It was loaded with plump shrimp. the sauce they were cooked in was excellent. It had a great back-end heat to it. Really good dish and a large portion. I don't see Becky and dining in at CA Fish Grille, but we'd certainly get takeout again.

Staff are super friendly and checked in when ordering and while waiting for food. You order on a kiosk but if the line starts building up, they start taking orders like normal. What we ordered: * clam chowder * shrimp and swai w/chimichurri sauce, fire roasted corn, fries * shrimp and swai w/ half and half garlic/cajun sauce, fire roasted corn, chimichurri fries My fiancé and I were on the same wavelength, ordering the same thing but varying it by a little. I had the half and half garlic/cajun and really liked both sauces. I tasted my fiancé's with chimichurri sauce and that was good too. The corn was yummy and I liked that I could customize it on the kiosk to remove cilantro because I'm one of the people who tastes soap with cilantro lol My only thing would be that I like my fries crispy and these were on the soggier side - but the flavor was good!

The woman at the register was very nice and the cook seemed to carry a great attitude as well. I noticed many customer coming were returning customers which is something I always like to see. California burrito was packed with meat and cooked to absolute perfection. I could actually taste the carne asada over everything which is honesty rare for me. The guacamole was not oozing out nor was it overpowering the taste of the whole burrito. The size of this thing was as about the size of my forearm! Filled me up for sure!! 6 rolled tacos with guacamole, sour cream and cheese was also perfectly cooked. Perfect amount of crunch on the ends and not too soft in the middles. Plenty of meat in the rolled tacos as well, which you could also taste well through all the toppings! We'll definitely be seeing you again soon Chuy's!!!

The burrito itself delivered. The adobado came through with that deep red glow and smoky tang, the kind of flavor that feels like it's been tended to, not rushed. I have…read moredriven past it countless times and was always intrigued by the cute mascot and the outside decorations, but I was also confused why there was almost never anyone inside eating or grabbing food. The parking lot looked exactly how it always does. Barely any cars and no one inside when we arrived. There is plenty of seating though with booths inside and some outdoor seating as well. The menu is posted above the register and has a ton of options that all sounded really good. They also have bottled aguas frescas like horchata and jamaica. Another reviewer mentioned they are house made. They also offer canned sodas, bottled drinks, and juices. I ordered three tacos: the New York steak taco (their version of carne asada), a cabeza taco, and a carnitas taco. My husband ordered the flour quesadilla with asada and two al pastor tacos. There is a salsa bar with hot sauce, red salsa, limes, radishes, grilled onions, and grilled peppers. My favorite thing there was the grilled onions. They were a little cold so I'm assuming they had been sitting there for a while, but they were still so good. Our food was brought out to our table. Service was pretty neutral. Nothing amazing but everything was smooth. I asked for no salsa on my tacos because the employee mentioned the same salsas were already at the salsa bar so I could add what I wanted myself. When the tacos came out they looked incredible and smelled even better. The New York steak taco was a thin slice of steak laid on the tortilla topped with guacamole, onions, cilantro, and beans. My husband got the quesadilla version of this and it was honestly amazing. The cheese was that perfect melty quesadilla cheese. I have never had beans on an asada taco before but it added such a nice touch of flavor and saltiness. The steak itself was sliced thin enough where every bite was tender and full of that rich beefy flavor. The al pastor taco really stood out too. Unlike a lot of places that use ground pork with seasoning, this tasted like real al pastor. The pork was juicy in the middle with a crisp exterior that made every bite really satisfying. The cabeza taco is what really sold me though. It was incredibly tender and packed with flavor. You can tell it was cooked slowly. The carnitas taco was different from what I'm used to but in the best way. Instead of shredded pork it was large chunks of carnitas. It was juicy, flavorful, and made me rethink how carnitas tacos should be done. Every bite kept confirming the same thought in my head that this might be the best taco spot I've tried in San Diego. I still have a lot more places to explore around the city but this place definitely set the bar really high.
