We had the chips and salsa to start and it seems the chips are better than before! The food was good, slightly over cooked for my liking, but still delicious - we had the smokehouse combo and the chicken crispers - no shortage of sauces available! Candice was absolutely AMAZING during this visit to Chilis outside of town. She kept our drinks full, made sure we had everything we needed, and even sent us away with leftovers to go! After being seated, during, and after, it was the most disappointing dining experience. We were seated quite awhile before we asked our server if we could order. He had walked by often with no acknowledgement and he was not busy with other tables. We placed an appetizer order which never arrived (went to another table) and our server never checked that we had gotten it. When our meals arrived we asked about it & then was asked if we still wanted it. Drinks were never refilled nor were we ever checked back with. We were celebrating our young grandson's birthday hoping to make it special. We never had the chance to. My husband and I visited chilis after a backpacking trip in Tahoe and, oh my goodness, it was so good! I ordered the unlimited chips & salsa, soup and salad and tonight that it was a great deal (around $8 I think?)! I wasn't sure if any of the soups would be vegetarian, but our waitress, Candice, told me that the potato soup was only topped with bacon, so they could simply not add it. If you like cheese, you'll love the potato soup. Speaking of Candice, she was FANTASTIC. She took great care of us and was incredibly friendly. What a delight! The cleanliness of the restaurant was the only negative part of our experience. There was quite a bit of trash (straw wrappers, napkins, etc.) on the ground in the dining room. Chili's fault fir letting us pay our own tab on their mini tabletop computers. Bad idea if you want tips. This place is okay but suffers from inadequate staff led by inadequate management. She was careful with our food allergies and gave off such positive vibes that it made our whole family smile. I ordered online so I didn't experience any problems with service or ambiance. My problem was the food I ordered 1/2 rack ribs, loaded mash potatoes and coleslaw. The ribs were a little dry, but mostly good. The potatoes and coleslaw were horrible. I'll eat almost anything but the potatoes looked and tasted very old, like days old and so was the coleslaw. A server (not our guy) brought out 2 drinks--the Premium Margarita and another pinky drink. He asked who had the "Tito's punch". We said none of us; we hadn't ordered that. He looked puzzled, then asked who ordered the Premium Margarita. My husband said that was his. The server took the punch back to the kitchen. Later brought out the other 2 drinks. Later, after we had already paid, we noticed the "Tito's punch" had been added to our bill. So we called and they said they'd refund us the cost of the punch. Just checked my account and they did refund the EXACT cost of the drink---$9.99---not the tax or tip we paid on it. It's not the amount, it's the principle of the thing. We had a good dine in experience here at Chili's in Folsom recently. The food was tasty. We had the skillet queso appetizer which is always a winner with warm cheese and ground beef with chips to dip in. I had the classic sirloin steak with grilled avocado. The sauce was so flavorful. The avocado paired with the steak perfectly. Delicious. My other fellow diners had shrimp fajitas , chicken with waffles and smokehouse combo. The Mexican street corn on a stick was well seasoned and kept you wanting more. Each enjoyed their selections and said good things. Our server Cassie made the difference. The food is good but if you have good service it makes you want to return. Our server was high energy and attentive. She had a lot of tables assigned to her that would normally make a newbie server panic but she was able to multitask well. Her friendly upbeat voice and word choices further enhance her service. Wow I haven't been to Chili's in a really long time and I was pleasantly surprised. We devoured the salsa trio had the queso and the guac it was super delicious the chips were very warm. My boyfriend and I split the cheeseburger bacon burger with fries it was so good very flavorful. I also had the black cherry margarita I had two of them and you know what it was very delicious but definitely for six dollars I don't think it had any alcohol in it usually after regular margaritas at a normal bar I'm pretty plastered.
