We had a 4 hour layover at YEG between Vancouver and Yellowknife. After scouting all the choices for food at this terminal, we settled on ordering a salad to go at Chili's. They have a grab and go case next to the restaurant entrance, but the choices were limited to sandwiches, which was not what we were looking for. So we ordered the southwest chicken salad. It was well made, tasted good, and just what we wanted. Instead of dining at the restaurant, we went down to the empty gate and ate there. Whenever I'm at YEG I always stop into Chili's for some grub and a beer (or two). I'm definitely a diner that likes to sit at the wood. I enjoy the personal service and feel like it's a bit quicker too. Not to mention the banter with the bartender and other single travellers. I've never been disappointed here! Waiting at an international airport terminal can be boring, and often times lacking in food choices. Today, I had the pleasure of enjoying lunch at the Chili's Airport location in the international wing. The tables were just in the common seating area for the shops, but served by the Chili's staff. Given the context, it was an exceptional experience. The seating is simple cafeteria area tables and benches. The waitress who served me was Marilou. She was phenomenal. She brought me a menu quickly, and returned shortly therafter with my diet Coke and lime as requested. I ordered the Big Bacon Burger, which was absolutely delicious, but also so monstrous I couldn't finish it.. and that is saying something since I am always able to finish a burger. The burger was two huge patties of perfectly cooked ground beef, cheese, lots of bacon and big bun. I had fries with the burger and also got the gravy to go with it (make sure to order the peppercorn gravy, it is perfect). The food was amazing, especially considering this is an airport terminal restaurant. Pricewise the big bacon burger with fries is $22 which is a little higher for a gourmet burger, but honestly with the size of it, I felt like I got more than I paid for. The drink was $4 for the refillable soda, which again is par for the course in an airport. The side of gravy was an extra $2, but it was easily the best gravy I've had with my fries. Yes, it was an expensive lunch but it was tasty, filling, and located in an airport so I did not feel it was excessive. On top of all that, the server, Marilou, was taking care of the entire area. This was probably 10 tables. She was efficiently helping everyone, got every part of my order accurate, and was kind and helpful throughout. If you are looking to have lunch stop before catching your international flight out of YEG, definitely recommend you checking out the Chili's Texas Grill in the Edmonton airport! read more

Damn, this place has really gone downhill. Hardly any vegetarian options anymore. :( I used to really love coming to Chili's at the airport prior to any flight. The options are extremely limited now for me. Even the queso has beef in it, so really, there is only one thing I can eat which is the veggie burger. It's OK, but nothing to write home about. It's the last standing Chili's in Edmonton though. So there is some nostalgia. I can't say that I won't ever go, but I might go somewhere else for my airport waits in the future. read more

I am one of the few people who was legitimately disappointed when all the Chili's closed down in the city, but am delighted anytime we travel and get the opportunity to hit up the Chili's in the airport. It's almost always breakfast that we get, and I actually think it's a great spot to get a bite before a flight. They're pretty fast, and the quality is your typical Chili's grade. The avocado toast I've had for a second time. I was surprised to see they only give you one egg. The first time I had it I remember a mountain of scrambled eggs on top of my toast.... but this time it was super skimpy. I looked at the picture in the menu though and see it typically only comes with one fried egg so that makes sense I guess. I must have had a generous cook last time. I have to say, though, 1 egg for those giant thick slices of bread is kind of not enough. The boyfriend says his scrambler was good. It's what he orders always, and will continue to order. The only criticism I have for Chili's breakfast is that if you have dietary restrictions for meat like we do (no beef or pork), you are generally out of luck. There are no turkey or chicken options for breakfast whatsoever. I would think that this should be something most places do nowadays because of the diversity we have in Canada. I ate at this location in the Edmonton airport. It was the first Friday of lent so I ordered an omelette with tomatoes, mushrooms and onions. The omelette was fluffy and had plenty of stuffing. However it loses one star because the onions were not sauted or caramelized. For me, if you have onions in an omelette they need to be one or the other and not raw onions. The reason I give 4 stars is for the friendly staff. My server (Shelly) was extremely friendly and talked to me like she cared about the rest of my day and my trip. I saw her walking around the restaurant and treating all of the customers the same. This attitude was not limited to her but seemed to extend to the whole staff. This is a breath of fresh air especially since it was 530 AM. Additionally she was attentive with regard to time which is important at an airport. She also was quick with the coffee. The bottom line is the breakfast was quite good but not exceptional. The service on the other hand was exceptional which added about one star to this review. read more

Chillis Grill and Bar used to have around 9 restaurants all over Alberta. By the end of 2017, they closed all but three of them ( one in Banff, one in Calgary International Airport , and lastly Edmonton International Airport ). In late 2018, the restaurant went through a massive renovation and menu change. One thing this location added was a to-go counter and a few new TVs by the bar ( except they have two of them in a awkward spot right above the bar ). But overall the place looks great with more open table ( no more glass partitions ). The place looks so much better now . As for the menu.. well they added quite a few things that is new . I have not tried it yet but there is a new burger called The Boss which looks like a heart attack waiting to happen but I should try it one day . This burger is loaded with beef, brisket and bacon , jalapeno sausage, cheese , lettuce, tomato and homestyle ranch sauce .. it's LOADED !! They also brought back Caesar salad... yeah !!! I ordered the bacon burger with fries ( $15.80 which is a bit pricey ). The fries were awesome and the burger was huge ! I mean I love a good burger and the last time I ordered one here was not that great . It was just blah. This one however was so much better and juicy ! It is really hard to figure out who has the best burger at the airport . There is also DELUX Burger which is really good and around the same price ( maybe a dollar or two difference ). I really like both places so it is a tough choice to make when it comes to where to go for a good burger. The staff here are great as well- shout out to one server in particular Anna who has been there for quite a few years and a great server. They also serve breakfast but I never have tried it - my shifts are in the afternoons. Overall this place looks great and I am glad they have added a few more things to the menu. read more

This place inside the Edmonton airport is a great example of the worse kind of chain restaurant. A captive business traveler with few options in which to eat! This place is somewhat run down & so is the food quality. I ordered the Crispy Chicken Fingers on a Waffle. I also asked for Onion Rings instead of fries in which they charged me an extra $2.00. I don't mind paying for food quality as long as the location delivers on what it promised. This location DID NOT DO THAT. My food was luke warm & although it looked good it sure didn't TASTE good. The waffles were WAY too sweet & the onion rings were simply tasteless. And as I said....the food was borderline cold. To the credit of the manager she did give me a small credit of about 25% but she didn't seem too concerned. This Chili's is inside Edmonton International Airport (YEG) by the 50's gates. It was early in the morning around 5am and I was pretty beat even though I'm still on Eastern time. I was just looking for a sit down breakfast place and I was going to eat a larger than usual breakfast because where I was going I had a feeling I'd be so busy that I wouldn't have time for lunch. I could have ordered a big pancake, bacon, sausage, eggs kind of breakfast for 16 bucks for for a buck more I figure I'll go with the steak. After looking at the menu I decided I was going to get steak and eggs and start off with a cup of coffee. I didn't have to wait very long and when my food came it was a pretty hefty serving. 2 eggs, 2 toasts, a nice serving of home fries and a cut of steak that although didn't seem too large from the top view was a good inch thick in some places. You see when I have steak and eggs just about anywhere, I'm thinking you know a fried piece of thin steak. Nope, not here. This is Alberta I suppose. On the menu it's mentioned something about AAA Alberta etc but in reality I wasn't expecting much. I had asked my server for a steak knife because all I had was a regular table knife and it was explained to me that being inside the airport and post security that they weren't allowed to carry those kind of knives. I was like, "oh yeah". So I'm going to try to eat a steak that's like an inch thick with a regular table knife. The meat is actually tender enough that it can be done. It was done! I thought it was going to be a challenge but it was fine. The service I had was also very good. I was asked multiple times if I wanted a refill on my coffee and if I was good. I ordered the Buffalo Chicken Ranch Sandwich with no lettuce (I hate lettuce!). It came with lettuce so I pointed it out to my server. She took it away and it came back lettuce-free. Yay! It looked like it was dripping with sauce. Well, it wasn't. It seemed like the sauce was just on one half ... the other half was dry. No doubt the cook took a lot of the sauce off when he/she took the lettuce off but didn't replenish it. It was okay, not great. But it was better than buying food on the plane. Stopped here on my trip to Vancouver for a quick morning breakfast. We were seated promptly, our sever though super busy with other guests squeezed us in for our meals hastily. And I can't stress how much I appreciate him for that. The food was good, nothing overly stood out and the meal kinda made me a lot more hungry to be honest. Having been awake for about 18 hrs prior without a meal left me severely famished. I LOVE Chili's! I used to live in Edmonton and I would go to Chili's once a week. There used to be one on the corner of Calgary Trail and 34th Ave. A couple of years ago, all but three locations in Canada shut down. Two of the remaining locations are in airports, behind security. The only non-airport location is in Saskatoon. I was so disappointed. This past week I had to fly to/from Edmonton and purposefully went to the airport early for my flight on July 4th so I could go to Chili's. I missed it so much! I had my "usual" of a quesadilla explosion salad with chips and salsa. And it was delicious. Service at the Chili's in the Edmonton airport was amazing. They constantly kept my diet Pepsi and tortilla chips full. I was in Chili's heaven. Now I just have to find a reason why I need to fly through the Edmonton or Calgary airports again! read more

Ordered a low carb chicken fajita bowl with no tortilla chips, no sour cream and no rice, extra vegetables and steak. They gave me a number and directed me to the food court table area where a few minutes later, a porcelain bowl came with my meal. They have somewhat recently come out with a new BBQ sauce that is worth ordering something to slather it on... Be that chicken, ribs, fries, burgers, or even the drink coaster... Anything with this stuff on it is like crack! It's called - Shiner Bock BBQ - sauce.. My favourite is the boneless wings with it, but I would eat the napkins with this stuff on it. Great cobb salad I grab every month when I leave for work. Its important that the ingredients are extra fresh as sometimes the salad sits in my carry on for 6 + hours (danger zone!) Turkey and beans have sometimes a short shelf life once exposed to room temperature. In terms of airport restaurants, Chili's isn't so bad. Is it somewhere I'd visit in the "outside world"? Probably not. But there aren't THAT many choices and it's not a huge roll of the dice. Translation: You know what you're gonna get. Because we were in Canada, the servers were way nice. And because we were in an airport, our waitress was especially concerned with getting us our food as quickly as possible. It was Saturday night, so I had a frozen margarita/draught beer combo. It was two things I love combined into one alcoholic beverage. Gotta give Chili's props for finding delicious ways to give us cirrhosis of the liver and/or heart disease. As long as you're enjoying these dangerously delicious treats every so often, it's probably fine. And to offset the bad, I had a buffalo chicken salad. With lots of Ranch dressing! The one thing I love about Chili's/Applebee's/TGI Friday's is there ability to take the bones out of a buffalo chicken wing. It's magic, I tell you! Pure magic. Total bill for two diners (with one bevy) was less than $50. Again, by airport standards, this was pretty good. Overall, our experience was a pleasant one. The day I left to head home for the holidays, I wanted to leave early to deal with the crappy snow covered unsafe roads that Edmonton has. So I decided I would drop my rental off and figure out what to have for breakfast. Right by gate 52, where I was to board my plane was Chili's. I hadn't been there since my LA days and said what the heck. I ordered just a classic breakfast which consisted of 2 scrambled eggs, 2 sausages, 2 square shaped pancakes and these small hash browns with a strawberry lemonade as my beverage. Well the strawberry lemonade isn't as tasty as the one you get from Red Robin. The food took quite a while to come to my table and what for? It wasn't that busy at 9 AM on a Thursday. In reality the pancakes came separately because they weren't ready as the rest of my order. They were blaring some dance music from Galaxie which wasn't what I wanted to hear, especially with my driving experience. The food was ok for what it was worth. For an airport, you would expect quick and friendly service. Our server had NO interest in serving us or even talking to us when she brought the food and bill (yes... those were the only two times she came to the table after we sat down and flagged someone else to take our orders). I guess serving 4 women at the same table wouldn't yield as high tips as serving the business men in suits. We are just as willing to tip for good service since we claim our travel and food expenses. We all left without having more than one drink (couldn't get any service or our bill to get to our gate quickly) and NO TIP! I was at the airport bright and early and decided to order some breakfast here. They have an extensive breakfast menu that appealed to my friend and I. I ordered the breakfast sandwich and my friend ordered the eggs benny. Both came with grilled potatoes. The potatoes were good although very few on the plate. My sandwich, unfortunately, was a disappointment since the middle of the sausage was under cooked and I ate some of it before realizing it. I never got sick from it but the experience made my stomach turn. My friend did enjoy her eggs benny though. I guess I just wasn't lucky. I did let the staff know that the sausage was under cooked and they did offer to make me a new one but I would have rather got my money back. Oh well...
