Definitely not a tiny, small placed brewery...but it's true... everything is bigger in Texas! When we were at Pinthouse I spotted a Mexican Lager which is a type of lager I love and especially in warm weather... a perfect summer beer for me! The name of the beer was Burro's Breakfast. In the flavor profile of this beer you will find a naturally sweet corn flavor, some maltiness along with a tart and dry finish. The beer is light bodied like most lagers of this type and smooth in body. In addition to having a beer we also decided to get some lunch. So we got a chicken sandwich a piece along with coleslaw and had a very nice lunch. Coming to Pinthouse Brewing proved to be a good stop as we made a pretty extensive tour of the breweries in Austin.

Instead of bread, our server brought us a basket of seasoned popcorn. The popcorn had almost like a Cajun flair, but it wasn't spicy. It reminded me of the Ground Round chain from when I was a little girl. We decided to try the corndog shrimp appetizer. I couldn't decide on an entree because everything looked so good, so I did the Parmesan chicken and my coworker did the steak salad. The shrimp arrived so quickly with four large pieces of shrimp on a stick wrapped in corn dog batter and fried to a golden brown, with a blueberry mustard dipping sauce. The shrimp were delicious and while I didn't get much of the blueberry in the mustard, I enjoyed the sweetness it provided. My Parmesan chicken was a crispy and juicy breaded chicken cutlet with a lemon cream, artichoke hearts, and what appeared to be prosciutto on top. It was served with a side of pesto couscous with grape tomatoes and cucumbers. I wish I had ordered mashed potatoes on the side, because I wanted something to soak up the lemon cream sauce, which was the highlight of the chicken. We also were served 3 mini cornbread muffins with honey butter. My coworker said the salad was just okay, and was a little on the small side. The desserts were definitely a MUST and if you visit Moonshine and don't save room for the Espresso Brownie or the Peanut Butter Pie, you're going to regret it. The brownie was so fudgey and warm and served with ice cream. It was decadent. The peanut butter pie was the biggest slab of PB pie I've ever had with a thick Oreo crust. We were sat right away as they have a reservations line and then a walk-in line with the reservations line getting to be at first. Our table was half bench and chairs which the benches because they are kind of a velvety material made it a little bit hard to slide over so make note if you're wearing a long dress that happens to snag as you scoot on over. We ended up starting with the jalapeño cheddar kolache and the donut holes. These were both shared amongst three of the crew, which both were very tasty and the jalapeño cheddar kolache, however did have a little bit of a kick. Main course for myself was the shrimp and grits came with four very large shrimp. The grits were blue corn, which is new for me, but also very tasty. One of the crew left the decision up to the gentleman, assisting us and wound up having the tiramisu French toast. That was so rich and very decadent definitely more of a dessert than a breakfast item. As they found out, it was a birthday celebration for two of us at the crew. I've been to two of the four Slider locations on 6th Street and the South Lamar one, and I've returned to the South Lamar location the most, so this is where the review is going. Their menu is pretty simple. You have an option between two, four, or twelve sliders, or one or two sliders with a side. I always opt for their "Weekend Getaway" with two sliders and fries. There are four sliders to choose from now. There used to be just two, but they've moved on up like Curtis Mayfield. The first is The Gringo with American cheese, smoky mayo, and pickles, and it's your basic slider. It's very sweet and goes down real easy. You eat one and could find yourself eating twelve. They're just a perfect traditional slider. I always gotta get a Gringo. The next of the two originals is the Vato, which is their original spicy slider. It has pepper jack cheese, hatch green chile ranch, and grilled jalapeños. It's moderately spicy, but it's not going to stop you in your tracks. I find it a good complement to the OG Gringo. The first of the two newer flavors is the Redneck, which is like a BBQ burger with American cheese, BBQ sauce, bacon, and fried onions. It's a strong flavor and it's definitely doing what it set out to do, but doesn't have that same immediate impact you get from the Gringo or the Vato. The final new addition is the Red Ass, a two-pepper-emoji threat not for the faint of heart. It has pepper jack cheese, fried jalapeño strings, and their evil spicy asshole sauce. It does not mess around. That sucker has a kick and will punch you in the face for looking at it funny. I love it though. Mix it with the Gringo and it's a combo of love and hate. It's endearing to have a slider that's sweet and lovely and one that feels evil at heart. I always get the fries as my side of choice, and they load me up with so many I always share some. They also slide me a smoky mayo sauce on the side for the fries. It's just excellence in a cup. When we were driving out of the garage we were shocked to see a $48 bill at the machine. An attendant explained we have to tap the validated ticket twice to see the correct price, which was still $25 (the standard $12/hour charge). This parking situation was frustrating and unclear.
