Chuy's is one of my favorite Mexican food restaurants. It was National Margaritas Day, so of course I had to order a the Chuy's Special Margarita on the rocks with a lot of salt on the rim. My wife ordered the Blackberry Margarita on the rocks with a lot of salt on the rim. She'll tell you more about it in her review. My Margarita was very tasty and refreshing...they don't skimp on the Tequila...Ha! Our server brought us complimentary chips, salsa and jalapeño ranch dipping dressing. The chips were warm, light and crispy fresh. The salsa is very good. It's really flavorful and good combination of ingredients (onions, peppers and tomatoes) and spices...with a little kick, but not too much heat. I ordered a large bowl of chili con queso. This is some of the best queso I've had in a long time. I'm not sure what all the ingredients and spices were in it, but man, it was delicious. It came out piping hot and the cheesy queso was so creamy and full of flavor. I ordered the Tex-Mex which has 3 cheese enchiladas with chili con carne and a side of hatch green chili sauce, refried beans and hatch green chili rice. The cheese enchiladas were exceptional. The tortillas were full of hot melted creamy cheese , smothered with chili con carne sauce. I added some onions and hatch green chili sauce for a little kick. They were so delicious! The refried beans were very good, but I made them a little better by adding a little queso and hatch green chili sauce to them. Now they are really, really, really good. The hatch green chili rice is really good (light, fluffy and seasoned nicely). But I added a little queso and the rest of the hatch green chili sauce. Now they are really, really, really good with a little extra kick to them...very tasty! This meal so delicious from the beginning to the end. The hostess was very welcoming and friendly. We had about a 15 minute wait...not too bad. Our server was awesome. He was friendly, polite, patient and attentive. He was quick to bring us chip, salsa and jalapeño ranch dipping sauce. Took our drink and appetizer order and brought them to us in a timely manner. He kept checking in with us to see if we were ready to order our main meal. All of our food came out in a timely manner and everything was piping hot. The restaurant has a very welcoming and cheerful vibe from when you first walk in the door. It's a very joyful, pleasant and welcoming atmosphere. The staff keep the restaurant very clean from, tables, chairs, booths, bar and floor. It's really comforting coming to a restaurant that cares so much about their employees, staff, customers and the restaurant itself. It's always a pleasant and nice experience coming here to enjoy a tasty beverage and great meal. I highly recommend giving the Mexican food restaurant a try. read more

As a native Austinite, Chuy's is an empty shell of what it used the be. It was already losing a little bit of its special touch after Covid, but the Darden takeover was the nail in the coffin. I can't even count on the frozen marg or New Mexican martini to be good anymore. Service was mediocre at best. Took a while to get a drink from the bar while we were waiting even though I was the only non-seated patron. Didn't get a straw. Took forever to order once we sat down. Forever to get our food. Waited around for almost ten minutes to request the check and boxes. The tabletop was wobbling so badly that everyone's drinks were sloshing around the entire meal. No one gave us napkins and I gave up waiting so I had to go ask for some from the hostess stand. RIP Chuy's circa 2005 with the happy hour trunk of queso and ground beef. 2-stars is me being nice. I thought it started off great but it slowly started to deteriorate. I love Chuy's and haven't been to one in a while. My mother was coming into town and my family was meeting there before we went back to our cities (San Antonio and Leander). I did let the server know that the rest of my party wasn't going to be here for another 15-20 minutes. She was cool with it. While we waited we order queso compuesto. We ran out of chips before the rest of my family showed up but didn't see the server to request more. My family then showed up and we saw the server again to take their drink order. My brother did request more chips for the table but then we only got 1 basket for a party of 7. We had to request more chips which in turn seem we were running the server when we really were not trying to as she could have seen that we needed more than 1 basket for the table. She took our order and it took forever to get it. I noticed another table that came in way after us get their food before us and they had a 6 top. We got our food; however, my husband didn't get his food until we hail down the server again to let her know that he still didn't receive his food after waiting a good couple minutes to see if he would get it or not. I am a slow eater and I finished at least one shrimp taco before he got his food. Also we had to request our table be pre-bussed. We had so many extra items on the table that didn't need to be there, such as plates, baskets, empty queso bowl, etc. Now the server should see if the table needed anything else after dropping off the food or at least come back in a couple minutes to see if everything was okay. But didn't until my brother had an issue with his plate. My drink (coca-cola) had been empty since the food was dropped off. I finally told her that I needed some water. She brings a pitcher of water to fill up my cup of soda. I let her know that this was Coke and that I would like a glass of water. She, then, decided to bring me a fresh cup of soda. I let her know that I would not like a cup of soda but a glass of water as I was through with my soda. The manager came over to discuss with my brother about his plate and then asked about the rest of the table. I was too mad at the time to talk about what was going on my side of the table. I finally calmed down to talk to the manager about how inattentive our server was and she totally agreed but then she completely didn't come back after that neither did the server until AGAIN we had to HAIL her down. My brother asked for a box but she didn't ask if anyone else needed a box. Didn't ask if the kids wanted their dessert as the KID'S MEALS come with dessert. Didn't ask if we needed ANYTHING! We paid our tab which was near $120 but we left her $16 and that was being generous after our experience. Loved Chuys and not sure why I haven't been here for the last two years while living in Texas. The wait for the table was initially twenty mins but got the table on Sunday noon within five mins. Funky and colorful ambiance , signifying Mexican colors. The menu was short and to the point, My order: Veggie Enchillads Cheese enchiladas Veggie hard shell taco Relenno with boom boom sauce Loved all the food and the size. Boom boom sauce is an extra $2 but wasn't as spicy as they had posted but it was the best since I sampled all their sauces. It was still a little bland and mild. Relleno was a little burnt fried but still loved the texture. Poblano pepper along with cheese and beans was amazing! The red rice was excellent and was great by itself. The veggie enchiladas was so different compared to the ones I have had before. This one had potatoes! Three stars because of the delay in service. Came to this Chuy's on the way back from playing some mini golf and my bf and I decided to try a new variation of what we typically get at Tex-Mex/Mexican restaurants. We got the chicken enchiladas with the "spiciest" sauce on the menu and were pretty disappointed as it wasn't as spicy as we anticipated- to be honest it wasn't spicy at all!! We also tried the green chile rice with their mexican rice and though the texture was great, the flavor was sadly lacking. Chuy's chicken for their enchiladas never disappoints though and of course their queso is amazing. The service and ambiance at this location were both great and I have 0 complaints regarding that! My husband and I decided to go to Chuy's for lunch today in celebration of National Margarita Day. Our chips came out quickly along with salsa and my fav-their jalapeno ranch. I decided to try their blackberry margarita and it was quite tasty. Not sugary sweet like a lot of fruit flavored drinks. We ordered a large bowl of queso as well. I decided to have the fajita chicken tacos al carbon and my husband ordered his usual cheese enchiladas. When my tacos arrived, my tortillas were soft and fresh and were stuffed with tons of great flavored fajita chicken strips, grilled onions, and grilled bell peppers. The green chile rice was fluffy with just the right amount of kick from the green chiles. The refried beans were creamy. And it all tastes better topped with some queso and jalapeno ranch. My husband said his cheese enchiladas were very good as well. Chuy's never disappoints. I wish they would bring back additional selections for beans, however, such as charro, which haven't made a return to the post-Covid menu. read more

I called again and spoke to Fernando who promised to take care of it. Never happened what kind of management is this. Poor customer service. At 6:15 several cars had came and left so i decided to go inside just in case it was more helpful to the staff. They give me my order don't apologize then i get to the car to check it and its missing COMPLIMENTARY salsas. I go back to get them. Then i get home pick up the bag to get off the car and my food flies out of the bottom and the lid to my soup wasn't securely put on. UNACCEPTABLE. Chuy's is consistently good... I always send out of towners to try the jalapeño ranch dip. I could put it on everything from chips to salads. I also really enjoy their drinks. My go to is the frozen strawberry margarita. It's perfectly sweet and strong. I usually get the taco salad, but this last visit I ordered beef soft tacos. They definitely hit the spot and were a large portion. Our server was attentive enough. I know I'll be back. read more

The overall service was lacking. The waitress did the bare minimum and barely checked on our table which was a 7 top. The food wasn't hot. The manager tried to fix things, which she did, food-wise but not service wise. All other Chuy's are way better than this one. Corporate needs to stop in and maybe provide more training to the staff. I wanted to take a moment to recognize one of your employees, Noelle, who consistently provides outstanding service. Noelle is an absolute pleasure to interact with. Every time I visit, she is professional, kind, efficient, and clearly dedicated to her job. On many occasions, she appears to be working alone or with only one other employee, yet she still manages to maintain a positive attitude and ensure customers are taken care of. Her work ethic and customer service truly stand out, and I believe she deserves recognition for her hard work and commitment. At the same time, I feel it is important to share some concerns I have observed during my visits. Unfortunately, the level of service from some other to-go employees has often been disappointing. I have witnessed rude or disrespectful behavior, a lack of teamwork, inattentiveness to customers, and the use of foul language. I have also noticed employees wearing earphones or playing loud music while on duty, which does not reflect a professional environment. I am a very observant customer, and these issues have been consistent enough to impact the overall experience. Employees who do not perform their duties properly or uphold professional standards should be held accountable to ensure the quality of service your restaurant is known for. My friend and I went here for dinner and cocktails to celebrate a promotion I got. The food was served quickly, everything was delicious and the service was impeccable. Santiago was our waiter and he was friendly and attentive. We also met the very nice manager, Derrick. When I shared with him about my promotion, he gave me a high-five and told me that dessert was on him. Although I've been to Chuy's many times I have never tried their Tres Leches cake. It was the best part of the whole meal! I will definitely be coming here again and bringing more friends. I do believe this will be my new neighborhood spot. Every time I come here the food is amazing and the atmosphere is lovely. Today I had one of the most unpleasant dining experiences at any restaurant. My boyfriend and I were constantly stared at by the bartender, manager, and our server. At one point I even saw them pointing at us behind the bar. I love coming to this location but after feeling this unwelcome and uncomfortable I'm not sure if I'll continue dining here. However, it was the worst service I've ever experienced at a Chuys restaurant. We didn't get the queso we ordered until right before the food came out (and had to ask for it then), my husband had go to the back and ask someone for the side of flour tortillas that were ordered because they were not brought out with the food, my daughter got up to get me an extra napkin herself because we couldn't get anyone's attention to ask for one and, as usual, or waitress was no where in sight. to start off i was not happy with the area they sat us in, they put us in some party room to the side that had no air conditioning and the room was super humid in there. our waiter was great but the food was very disappointing, the chicken didn't even seem like chicken , it was just a bunch of mushed up chicken. and there tortillas were super hard and had holes in them felt more like a cracker then a tortilla. Been going to Chuy's my entire life, I've never had an experience like I did at this one. Went last night for drinks and apps, we probably talked to 8 different staff members throughout the evening and every single person was incredibly generous. At one point a young man brought our food out, I said to him "Hey sorry to trouble you but could you bring us some more creamy jalapeño?" He responded "It's no trouble at all, it's my pleasure to serve you!" I later found out that he was a busser, not even a server. The food was good, but honestly it could've been garbage and I still would have had a great experience solely due to the level of service I had. Spoke with the manager Derek (sorry if I got that wrong) and told him how much I appreciated the culture they had at this location. He was very kind and great to talk to. We've ordered six times from this location, fully half of those times something has been wrong with the order. We ordered a veggie enchilada no cheese and it came w cheese, one with cheese and it came w none. Just now we ordered two dinners and two quesos and were not given chips. if you pick up from Chuys at this location, make a list of what you should be getting and don't leave until you've checked every item off or you will be bringing the wrong food home to your family. Happened often enough that there Is something wrong w their workflow that is not getting fixed. The food should be good; not so much when it wasn't what somebody ordered; REALLY not good when you have two quesos and no chips. We're giving this place a pass from now on. read more
