Baja Shrimp Tacos, Quesadillas
Diana S.

Food is always great at Chuys! I always have the shrimp tacos and a side of the queso compuesto (no pico). Restaurant was nice and clean and not too busy during the weekdays. Overall enjoyed my time here.

Chicken enchiladas w/ green hatch chile sauce & both mexican and green chile rice!!

Came to this Chuy's on the way back from playing some mini golf and my bf and I decided to try a new variation of what we typically get at Tex-Mex/Mexican restaurants. We got the chicken enchiladas with the "spiciest" sauce on the menu and were pretty disappointed as it wasn't as spicy as we anticipated- to be honest it wasn't spicy at all!! We also tried the green chile rice with their mexican rice and though the texture was great, the flavor was sadly lacking. Chuy's chicken for their enchiladas never disappoints though and of course their queso is amazing. The service and ambiance at this location were both great and I have 0 complaints regarding that! But after being spoiled by authentic taqueria enchiladas, we may need to just try something else on the menu to not dissuade us away from Chuy's..!

Tacos al Carbon with fajita chicken

My husband and I decided to go to Chuy's for lunch today in celebration of National Margarita Day. Our chips came out quickly along with salsa and my fav-their jalapeno ranch. I decided to try their blackberry margarita and it was quite tasty. Not sugary sweet like a lot of fruit flavored drinks. We ordered a large bowl of queso as well. I decided to have the fajita chicken tacos al carbon and my husband ordered his usual cheese enchiladas. When my tacos arrived, my tortillas were soft and fresh and were stuffed with tons of great flavored fajita chicken strips, grilled onions, and grilled bell peppers. The green chile rice was fluffy with just the right amount of kick from the green chiles. The refried beans were creamy. And it all tastes better topped with some queso and jalapeno ranch. My husband said his cheese enchiladas were very good as well. Chuy's never disappoints. I wish they would bring back additional selections for beans, however, such as charro, which haven't made a return to the post-Covid menu.

Like Rudy's BBQ, Chuy's gets so much hate because it's a franchise, But, you know what happens with franchises? THEY STAY CONSISTENT AND ARE RELIABLE! There's never a time when I don't recommend Chuy's to out-of-towners. It always impresses. If you're wanting a true Tex-Mex experience, Chuy's is the place. But don't ask me what's the correlation between Elvis & Chuy's... What to order: A mountain of Creamy Jalapeño for your chips (you'll thank me later) and for those who enjoy a little bit of everything, The Elvis Presley Memorial Combo. The Elvis Presley combo comes with three different enchiladas and a taco with all the fixings (rice and beans). Since this location opened a month ago (April 22), they are not taking an online waitlist. You'll have to check-in in person. For a table of 4, we arrived on a Friday night at 5:00 PM, and the wait time was already at 35 minutes.

TORN BAG

NOT HAPPY WITH YALL TODAY My food was set to be ready at 5:55 pm i showed up at 6 pm and checked in. At 6:15 several cars had came and left so i decided to go inside just in case it was more helpful to the staff. They give me my order don't apologize then i get to the car to check it and its missing COMPLIMENTARY salsas. I go back to get them. Then i get home pick up the bag to get off the car and my food flies out of the bottom and the lid to my soup wasn't securely put on. UNACCEPTABLE. Being busy isn't an excuse to not provide good customer service.

$15 soft tacos and they forgot my beans and rice this time :(

Food tastes good but I'm always missing components like my side of rice and beans, my side of guac and my sauce for the enchiladas for today's order($45). Now normally it'd be fine and I'd ignore a forgotten item but man this keeps happening....like even if I tip 20% I'm be missing hella shit so I stopped tipping sometimes. The servers are great and when I asked for sauce they were cool about it. When I dine in, the service is impeccable. But that being said...I think yall need to be keeping a better eye on the To-Gos or restructure something. Darden Restaurant Inc. -I don't like you. You ruined Chuy's and for that, i hate you. :[

Mama Betty’s - Churros slathered in sticky sauces

Listen as a self proclaimed Texmex/ Mexican food ambassador I wanted to be critical of this place…read moreand cannot say one bad thing about it other than it's always packed. We absolutely recommend coming here and getting fajitas or enchiladas or Barbacoa quesadillas maybe all of the above if you bring enough people because it's all delicious! The restaurant itself is very well kept and clean. It does get a little bit loud, but that's only because it's always packed to the doors. Mama Betty's has a really fun outdoor patio space and always has great music playing. It's an awesome establishment to bring families kids Little League teams, office meetings whatever you want you won't disappoint anybody you bring. No matter who we have gotten as far as the wait staff they have all been extremely friendly, kind and helpful when it came to choosing something on the menu--everybody here has a wonderful and warm personality. They really have put together a home run of a restaurant and I hope that they stay around for a long time. Last, but not least the drinks are outstanding, and everything is very competitively and fairly priced. If you haven't tried it and are worried about it being packed come during the weekday at lunch.

Went on Sunday after Easter service because we were craving something a friend brought us during a…read morerecent meal train but felt it a bit lacking. First, the menu needs a rewrite for content and clarity. For example, buying fajitas doesn't list guacamole and based on size, single, for two and family you get more sides of rice or beans. There's no definition of how much actual meat you get and our server couldn't provide that information beyond a rough estimate. Second, the fajitas we got of family size and for two portions for 7 were not consistently cooked. We asked for medium rare and got about 25% at that with the ones in the center at a more well done. Again, the multiple tiny sides were more obnoxious than anything as it's legit beans and rice unless you want to upcharge. The cilantro lime rice tastes like nothing so skip that and go for abuelita rice which has a hint of flavor. Overall, the butter/gravy that go on the fajitas is the real winner but again a menu where you overbuy and misunderstand (that doesn't even list extras like guacamole or a simple small queso) was beyond frustrating. I would stick to them for one to possibly get a better cook.

I've driven by El Alma many times being in the Austin area, but I never went until last Thursday, and after surviving a brief monsoon, I was glad to get a few drinks and eat some good TexMex with my large party just before a wedding. The best way to describe El Alma is that it is TexMex that is Austinified. Everything feels a little more unique and special than your classic TexMex options. I started off with a Mezcal Margarita that put a little hair on my chest and got me going. My group ordered two of their Nachitos, which were these nice nachos. For my main entrée, I got 3 Al Pastor tacos on corn with a side of their rice and beans. Their pastor was served with pineapples, onions, and cilantro with limes on the side. They were great and I immediately crushed them all. I thought their rice and beans were pretty good as well and a step above the typical TexMex rice and beans. The server was pretty attentive throughout our whole visit, and I honestly have no complaints about what they had to offer. Pricing on the meal and drinks was pretty standard for Austin, and I didn't think anything really took me out of the experience. On top of that, for being in Barton Springs, there is quite a bit of parking. I would love to come back at some point in the future and hang out on their rooftop bar because that seems like a lot of fun. Shoutout to El Alma for being a TexMex oasis saving me from the MoPac traffic. RIYL: TexMex, but better than your average

We mentioned to the manager and she was very apologetic and replaced them immediately. They were still raw inside but they were already removed from our ticket. The house margaritas were very good! Like I said, it was a crazy, busy weekend so the DJ had the tunes bumping really loudly. Not sure if it's always this way but with concrete ceilings and floors it was loud. Hard to hear server and each other. I'd still go back for the food.

I started with a strong house margarita and followed it up with a lychee martini (not on the HH menu) The martini was really pretty but tasted more like a strawberry lemonade. Tacos de Pescado and Tacos Alambre were delicious!! I also ordered Hamachi (not on the HH menu) which was the best hamachi I've ever had, seriously! The flavors were tangy, sweet and paired perfectly. I enjoyed the Tacos de Pescado just as much as the hamachi the pickled cabbage was the surprising star of the plate! Our server (Taylor?) was very sweet. She explained the menu well and made great recommendations. Parking is very tricky in the area so I took rideshare!
