Less than half of my Crispy Beef Taco
    Lori F.

Recently went to Serranos in Southpark Meadows for dinner. We were seated as soon as we went in and promptly brought tortilla chips and salsa. We ordered a large queso that quickly arrived at the table. I usually get their Fajita Chicken Taco (which are always yummy!), but was in the mood for something different. I decided on the El Grande which is a crispy beef taco, two cheese enchiladas with chili con carne, guacamole, queso, rice and beans. I appreciate the fact that they have two kinds of rice to choose from (Mexican and Pacifico) because I am not a fan of Mexican rice. The beef taco was huge and full of ground beef, lettuce, tomatoes, and shredded cheese. The cheese enchiladas were perfectly cooked and not tough or greasy at all. The Pacifico rice was fluffy and the charro beans were well-seasoned. Our server was attentive and refilled drinks without having to ask. The El Grande was very reasonably priced, especially since I will get at least two more meals out of it. My only complaint is that the large queso is now $15!! I admit that I usually just order queso without looking at the price because it's virtually a "have to have" when I am at a Tex-Mex restaurant, but I may have to rethink that with everything getting so expensive these days. Don't get me wrong, the queso was great and I have noticed queso prices going up everywhere. It's just something I am going to have to start paying attention to everywhere with our budget not going as far as it used to. My only regret with my meal is that I forgot to add a jalapeno sausage because Serrano's is always so tasty.

We came in on mother's day since another restaurant was quoting a 2 hour wait. And we were glad that we did. The server was very quick and kind and she had our order in and delivered very fast. The portions were huge, I was absolutely stuffed and everything was delicious. I left nothing on my plate. I would come back again and recommend to all of my friends. The total was about $42 for two entrees, and an appetizer, before the tip.

My fiancé & I have eaten here twice (most recently last Friday), and we enjoyed it both times. This past Friday we arrived around 6:15-6:30 without a reservation, and were seated immediately. That was nice (although when we left at 7, there was a wait outside). The hostess was friendly, and our server was a good guy. As for the food, the chips & salsa they had was alright, but the guacamole was fantastic. Definitely recommend the guac as we had it both times and it was delicious and my favorite part of the meal both times. Each time we came here, my fiancé got the bacon shrimp entree and she was was satisfied each time. The rice/beans were good as well. Prices were reasonable too.

Great service, cool atmosphere, but the most un-cheesy quesadilla ever - A white oval plate contains three quesadillas with golden-brown, toasted tortillas, filled with beef, chopped vegetables, and melted cheese. One quesadilla is partially broken, revealing the filling. There is a side of shredded lettuce with sour cream. The plate is placed on a wooden table, with some dishes and utensils visible in the background.

Beautiful restaurant that is large to accommodate many people including large groups. I came from lunch and they offered lunch time special deals too. I thought the food was good and came quickly!

Pretty spot-on Tex-Mex food. Server was excellent. I ordered the achiote cauliflower tacos because they were rather unique. Many of their menu items are unique. This place came recommended from another business owner in the area. Good stuff here. Dicks

I don't think I have ever been so impressed with a tortilla soup IN MY LIFE. It seriously blew me away with how much flavor it had! The enchiladas were also great and you are able to pick what sauce you have on the enchiladas so that is a fun option. They do offer you chips and salsa which are great, light and crispy which is my favorite. The server we had was so friendly and went above and beyond by finding out what items had dairy in them and what didnt, I really was impressed with his assistance and effort! The restaurant is huge so there is a ton of seating and parking is very easy!

I recently ordered takeout from here. For the crispy beef tacos the meat was packaged separately from the shells and toppings. That was a plus to prevent soggy tacos. The tacos and the queso dip were good. Everything was packaged well.

I always love this place. The remodel make the restaurant lose a lot of its warmth, in my opinion but the food is still good. I ordered a cheese chile rellano while my mom got a chicken fajita taco with queso and "jalepeno rellanos". Almost got an order of those to go! Excellent service and good food.

Combo Fajita Platter - The image shows a sizzling platter of grilled meats, including beef and chicken, accompanied by grilled vegetables such as peppers and onions, served on a wooden tray. A small black bowl contains guacamole topped with shredded cheese. The setting appears to be a casual dining environment with a wooden table and various containers in the background.

I've driven by El Alma many times being in the Austin area, but I never went until last Thursday, and after surviving a brief monsoon, I was glad to get a few drinks and eat some good TexMex with my large party just before a wedding. The best way to describe El Alma is that it is TexMex that is Austinified. Everything feels a little more unique and special than your classic TexMex options. I started off with a Mezcal Margarita that put a little hair on my chest and got me going. My group ordered two of their Nachitos, which were these nice nachos. For my main entrée, I got 3 Al Pastor tacos on corn with a side of their rice and beans. Their pastor was served with pineapples, onions, and cilantro with limes on the side. They were great and I immediately crushed them all. I thought their rice and beans were pretty good as well and a step above the typical TexMex rice and beans. The server was pretty attentive throughout our whole visit, and I honestly have no complaints about what they had to offer. Pricing on the meal and drinks was pretty standard for Austin, and I didn't think anything really took me out of the experience. On top of that, for being in Barton Springs, there is quite a bit of parking. I would love to come back at some point in the future and hang out on their rooftop bar because that seems like a lot of fun. Shoutout to El Alma for being a TexMex oasis saving me from the MoPac traffic. RIYL: TexMex, but better than your average

It was a Saturday night, and my friends in I were downtown looking for somewhere to eat. We found their sign down on the street and decided to try them. Immediately upon walking in, we felt unwelcomed. We waited 10 minutes at the front desk for someone to even address us, and then were told to wait while they cleared off a table for us. Twenty minutes later, we went back up to ask about the table and were actually told by the staff that they forgot about it. Finally a table was set for us and we sat down. We all ordered drinks and asked for water at this point. The water was brought, but we waited and waited for our drinks. After another 20 minutes and watching the bartenders (who were not busy this evening) make no moves to make our drinks, we got up and left. I have never had such an experience at a restaurant before.
