I have to update my review based on the awful customer service that's occurred recently. I let the last time slide by, but today I can no longer do so. We were looking at the menu today and realized we could order food right from the yelo app via grubhub so we proceeded to place said order and were given a 20 min time frame for pick up. Upon arriving, there are parking spots with designated numbers for food pickup, so that's where we park. I call the restaurant and was greeted by the rudest most uninterested person I've heard on the phone in a long time. The call goes: Me: Hi I'm here to pick up my online order. Her: name? Me: give her the info Her: ok Umm....no where are you parked, it'll be right out...nothing. So we sit and wait, and wait....we flag her down as she's delivering the food to the car next to us. She can't find our order,and accuses us of being at the wrong location. Finally after showing her the online receipt she heads out to look for our food. At this point it's easily 15 min past their time frame window. Finally we can't take it anymore and drive over to the curb where she's standing, talking to people in another car with a bag in her hands that turns out to be our food! She walks over, sour look on her face, no apology or anything and flatly states "for grubhub orders you need to come inside, its not curbside ". Wow....we will not be giving our money or time to such an ingrate business that would treat their customers so poorly especially at a time like this where many restaurants are struggling to make ends meet. Super nice spot and very friendly staff. Our waitress was awesome and our food came out quick. The actual food was hot or miss. My chicken and vegetable soup was excellent and it was seasoned okay. My fried avocado was a great idea but just no seasoning. I had to add salsa and salt and pepper. Same for the rice and beans that came with my daughter's quesadilla. Great thought goes into presentation but it would have been awesome if the taste matched the aesthetic. The ambience was good, the food was good, and the service was alright but lacking at times, but overall it was a decent experience.

I was introduced to this Serrano's by one of my peeps who goes by the name Joe Esse. He's the kinda guy who really sticks w/ something when he likes it, very loyal, doesn't like to stray too much. In this case we were trying to meet up for a late lunch, and since he was down south he recommended this Serrano's location because it's new, clean, and has several flat screen TVs. Okay, it's all good in the TNI & Esse hood. So I've never been to any Serrano's - don't know why - just hasn't crossed my path. This location isn't that great because it's hidden behind "Rooms To Go" and you can't see it from the highway. The parking layout is odd, the restaurant sits up on an incline and the parking lot is somewhat disconnected from the actual restaurant. Joe Esse agrees, but he tells me the food and ambience is why we're here - not the parking, you idiot. My bad. This place is large, plenty of seating, very clean, and the service is attentive. Joe Esse gets his usual Three Enchillada Plate for $9.99. I get the Serranos' Pollo Bandera (3 mesquite grilled boneless, skinless chicken thighs, each topped with monterey jack cheese and a different sauce: tomatillo, spicy chipotle, and poblano cream sauce). It's also served with a Vegetable Alambre, and all for $9.99. Our food came out really fast, the World Cup is playing on the TV. It's not too crowded so I'd say it's an optimal place to watch games. I dive into my chicken while Joe Esse shows me his new Droid phone and all the apps, just like a litte kid at Christmas. Meanwhile the drinks are filled accordingly, the chips are okay, the salsa is a little on the wet side, but it's good enough, and my chicken dish is pretty tasty. Joe Esse never complains about his enchiladas, he always licks his plate clean. He says that's why he's a return customer at Serrano's, to eat enchiladas and play with his Droid phone. I'd say give that Pollo Bandera a shot if you like chicken and a variety of sauces. We've already been here twice, and I know more about Joe Esse's Droid apps than the rest of the food on Serrano's menu. He also digs the waitstaff here as well. read more

It had been years since I had been to a sorranos location. My husband and I were in the need for some food while visiting Austin so we stopped here. We were greeted promptly by the waitress and we ordered a margarita since it was happy hour to get the meal started. I got the mango margarita and it was overly sweet and didn't seem to have much alcohol in it. My husband ordered the strawberry margarita and said it was good. While waiting for our food to come out we chowed down on nachos and fresh salsa. The salsa had a bit of a bite to it and could eat a lot more. My husband ordered a burrito with queso that was served with rice and beans. The burrito was a decent size but nothing super special. I ordered fried avocado tacos. I never had this before and wasn't sure what to expect. The fried avocado had a unique flavor and wouldn't be something I would try again. The fried avocado didn't fit into the soft taco shell that well and caused the inards to spill out. I did enjoy the rice and beans but nothing special. I guess for the price you can get a decent meal but besides that it was sub par when it comes to Mexican food. read more

Probably the worst Mexican I have ever eaten! Never have I had carnitas without any flavor. Greasy and tasteless since we had our meal delivered, all I could do is throw it into the trash. Let me preface this review first that I'm rating based solely on a single visit I had. This is my go to place in South Park meadows for good food and even better drinks. The service has always been spectacular as well. Every server has gone above and beyond to accommodate party sizes and unique orders I've placed. Unfortunately this was not one of those times. I honestly haven't felt this disregarded as a customer at a restaurant ever. Real fans of this establishment know of the Burrito Appetizer they used to have in the menu. I still remember and ALWAYS order this item. If you haven't tried it, you would understand why I order this item every time I visit here.when the server doesn't know what I'm talking about usually I tell them to ask the cook and they know what I'm talking about. Even at the north location by cedar park I've ordered the burrito appetizer. Anyway on this particular day I asked my server and as usual they weren't sure what it was and went to double check in the kitchen. Next thing I know a staff member approach's my fiancé and I who believe is some sort of management. Adrian was his name. He first starts by saying they used to have the item on the menu before but has since been removed. Then Adrian proceeded to say the place is very busy now and it would mean they would have to go out of there way to make them for us. Great! In my head I'm thinking. I'm paying for them I can wait. So to my surprise when he told me that the manager had told him that he was not going to honor my request. We had said we can wait, we would pay for them; but all to no avail. He was not going to make them for us. Mind you they would serve us chicken flaquitos instead. It's the same preparation method the only difference is chicken instead of beef! He didn't offer a substitute nor did he try working with us. It's not our fault your busy. I had a celebration here just a week before to celebrate my promotion with friends and family a party of 13! My server Ricky brought out my burritos no hassle! Adrian obviously was not having a good night and just bullied us to a point we just left. Nothing worse than an unprofessional staff member that takes it out on their customers. I was meeting up with a friend on Saturday evening and decided to eat here. We made it just in time to get a happy hour margarita in. Everyday is happy hour at Serranos from 3pm-7pm! Yes please! I had the mango frozen and it was delicious. We had a bowl of queso and the chicken fajitas for two. I don't even usually order fajitas but they are exceptionally good here because of the grilled onions. They're Mexican street corn is phenomenal and so are al Pastore tacos.Sometimes when they're slammed the kitchen will make a mistake or the server might take longer, but they've always apologized and accommodated anyway they can. Recently our last visit I noticed they downsized the menu by ALOT, a lot of the items we used to see are now gone. And now the flautas or taquitos we used to order come alone with no sides but you can purchase sides for an extra cost. This bothered us as we usually go in large groups to this place and were disappointed to see that they did the menu/pricing this way. But thought, hey...this is our favorite spot, let's not write them off just yet. This evening. We visited for dinner. They were playing good music, service was great. We had just placed our food order. It wasn't until I heard scattering and ruckus at a nearby booth that I looked up and realized what everyone was looking at.....there was a HUGE cockroach on the wall just crawling around. I immediately got up and asked that they cancel my meal as I was no longer comfortable eating there. The manager offered us a gift card of $20 so we can give them another chance but I don't foresee us going back. It was a kind gesture though. I hate to see that this place has gone down hill. Met up with some friends for an informal dinner on the patio last week. It's a beautiful open dining area shaded by large oak trees. The restaurant interior is well-used and looked to me a little beat up, but the patio was refreshing and pleasant. Great service and tasty, colorful Tex-Mex food dishes, with an array of traditional mixed drinks. The price structure works for families on a budget, and it's close to a lot of shopping destinations, so it makes a great place to meet up and wind down at the end of the day. read more

Although I am a creature of habit for sure and eat basically the same foods time and again, I am glad I can count on them to be great most of the time. UPDATE AGAIN... ok. We've tried to go to Serrano's around 4 to 5 times in the last few months. Each time there are people in the patio and empty tables. Each time we have been told the patio is closed. Today, when we asked to be seated on the patio, the hostess went to check and came back with what I assume was a manager. The manager, quite short female, told us the patio was closed. I mentioned people sitting on the patio. She then said, that they were short handed. I suggested hiring more people or scheduling the staff better. She then laughed in my face and walked away. Unfortunately, we won't be back. I'm sure she doesn't care. This was a pretty convenient stop off the 35, their food was good and our server was super friendly. They had margarita options with fresh juices which I really appreciate. Service was a little slow but our food came out really quickly once we ordered. Overall a good experience until my coworkers and I walked out to our rental car with the window smashed out of it and some of our things stolen. We went back in to see if they had cameras and the hostess couldn't even be bothered to go get a manager for us to talk to let alone have the slightest bit of sympathy. We went a counter and politely ask if they have any crayons. They said "NO" so I politely ask if they have any pencil or pen, answer was "NO" seriously? You have no pen at all? No children stuffs and crayon in a family restaurant and no explaination? They are not busy, service was not very attentive, they r not very nice. Plenty to choose from, I picked the dos xx marg. Usually, beer rita come in a glass of margarita with a beet bottle in it, but not this one. At first I was semi disappointed, quickly got over the lack of presentation after my first sip. So good. Our server was very attentive and nice. I've come to this location many times over the last 4-5 years and they hardly ever disappoint. My friend likes to have her birthday dinners here (on the weekend too) for her family and friends of 10+. Serranos Staff are always accommodating and willing to make room for us with a small wait time so that we can all celebrate together. Service is fast and friendly especially for the big parties we bring in. I have come here on a separate occasion with a wheelchair bound friend after the lunch rush. She and I were accommodated to a table seat in the middle of the restaurant that allowed for amble room for my friend to get in and out of the table. Food and orders are always on point and I appreciate the fast and friendliness of Serranos. read more

I got a confirmation that I was on it, so showed up at my designated time and was told, "Haha, yeah we don't use that and haven't bothered to take it down - it's a 45 minute wait right now." Not waiting 45 minutes for mediocre Mexican food. I've already waited the time the waitlist told me to, and now you want me to wait another 45? Not happening and won't be back.
