Delicious Food!!! The Korean Fried Chicken was amazing!!!! Although they said they "ran out" of the spicy flavor in the beginning. The chicken was super crispy and flavorful. The Kimchi Fries are also sooo good! And the bowls are very good too, just depends what you're in the mood for. Definitely a place to check out when in Austin. I have definitely found my new go to place! I got the beef rice bowl and an order of rice balls to go, as my first Chi'Lantro experience. It survived the car ride and was still warm when I get home due to their great packaging. The food was great. IMO, its pretty much a healthier (?), tastier, and more colorful version of Chipotle. The rice balls are very tasty, kind of like a Korean play on arancini. I can't wait to go back and get the kimchi fries or check out a food truck. If you're looking for authentic Korean food, keep searching. Chi'Lantro is to Korean food as Chipotle is to Mexican food. Many businesses have suffered during COVID Chi'lantro being one of them. Chi'lantro was once a beautiful blend of ethnic food that left the palate wanting more. Those flavors were lost once Chi'lantro cheated the menu to make up for unqualified staff that currently try hard to serve Chi'lantro's dumbed down menu. Wow. First visit today. I pretty much inhaled everything. The K-pop chicken wings with Gangnam sauce are THE BEST wings I've EVER had. No exaggeration. I am picky about my wings. Are they meaty enough? Are they tasty enough? Are they super crisp skinned? If they aren't all three of these things, they're not good enough. Chi'lantro killed it! I also had the Kimchi fries. Let me start off by saying i LOVE Chi'lantro. I've had it catered for parties and even had a (shameless) rep in college for going to bars only to disappear and be found later holding kimchi fries. When my friend and I were deciding where to get take-out from, it seemed like an obvious choice. We ordered 2 noodle bowls (+avocado) and chips & guac. The cashier was nice, hence the second star. When we arrived home, we realized they forgot the fried egg that was supposed to come on my friends bowl. Unfortunate, but not a big deal. However, as I start chowing down on my (admittedly delicious) noodle bowl, I found a large piece of plastic cooked into my food. Like a thick cellophane that had been marinated and fried. I will say, if I ever was forced to eat plastic, that's probably the way I would want to do it, but my appetite was completely ruined and I can't even imagine what the carcinogen content would be of fried plastic. I understand accidents happen and their team reached out to me to make things right which I appreciate. I love Chilantro, my previous office was right by where the food truck parked on Fridays and I never missed a week getting quesadillas. When I heard they were opening up a brick and mortar location, I was super excited, especially since it's close to my new office. I've been a few times now and the food is still good, but I don't understand why they don't offer the quesadillas which they still offer on the food truck. One of the few cases I've seen of a food truck having more options than the restaurant. Like I said the food is still good, but I don't find myself obsessing over it like I did the quesadillas. I have been coming to chilantro on south Lamar since it opened after A OK. I live across the street and it is tasty and convenient. I have been coming 4 times a week at least even when they were serving breakfast for a few weeks. However, I was extremely disappointed in my last visit. The k pops that I ate religiously were transformed into inedible and disappointing chicken wings. I brought friends just for the k pops since they were the best ones I've ever tried. Came to eat here the other night with some family and my partner. Waiting in line and looked at their menu for a while as it was my first time ever being here. My cousins girlfriend had mentioned this place earlier in the night and we have been driving around looking for it as her GPS had us going on way and my GPS had us going another way. The parking at the location was plentiful but all the spots are full so we ended up having to park a little bit away on the side of the building. My cousins girlfriend had been raising about there to Kimichi fries. Needless to say I ordered the kimichi fries with spicy pork, my partner got the same but instead with chicken my cousin's girlfriend also got it with chicken and my cousin himself got it with tofu.. I have had to say when I first saw the price is $6.50 for an order of fries I was thrown off. But when you put those things in your mouth and taste all the different flavors all together that just pop, you realize after a few seconds this meal was worth every penny.. I didn't try any of the different kinds of soda that have because I don't drink soda however water did compliment the meal very well. They had a selection of beer but nothing really caught my eye. Food did not taste clean like I expect Korean infused food to taste..the flavors sort of mush together rather then stand apart tasting each thing individually then together making for a well rounded over all taste experience. Everyone raves about this place, so we decided to try it one night. It was ok. We definitely were not wowed and did not see why it's so highly recommended. The food was very heavy. We felt like it was the Qdoba version of a Mexican/Asian fast food restaurant.
