Spotted Chila Cheese, a new chilaquiles + arepas vendor, inside Grand Central Market. They might be related to La Tostaderia or just renting part of the La Tostaderia space? It seems to be Colombian/Mexican, specializing in chilaquiles and Colombian-style white corn arepas. The menu also includes Mexican esquites, wild nachos, and beverages. For the chilaquiles ($9.99), you can choose the protein (eggs, bistec, chicharron - Mexican or Colombian style, pollo, or chorizo), salsa, and toppings. The chilaquiles come with onion, cotija cheese, sour cream, and cilantro.
Chilaquiles with chicharron Colombiano, roja picosita, onions, cotija cheese, sour cream, and cilantro ($9.99). Pinto beans were on the bottom, then crispy (fried) corn tortilla chips, chopped chicharron, sauces, cheese, cilantro. The portion is smaller than average but good for a snack or light meal. The sauce was spicy and not too salty. Great flavor. The chips were better than average - light, almost puffed up, crispy, not greasy. The chips weren't too soggy, so that was a big plus. There wasn't much chicharron though, and the chicharron was dry.
The chilaquiles were served in a takeout box (like the kind used by Chinese restaurants for rice and noodles). They will get soggy if they sit, so they're best eaten right away. Grand Central Market has seating. read more
