I thought these empanadas were good, but not spectacular. I got the carne asada one and it was kind of salty and lacked flavor. The Cuban one was better because the ingredients were more harmonious which I really liked. The dipping sauce it comes with is really good though.

What a surprising find; the empanadas were fresh and hot. The filling was amazing, and the crunch from their breading was so good! 8/10. I wanted more when I was done. I recommend you give them a try when you're in the area!

Located inside the Grand Central Market, I've had Nonna's Empanadas bookmarked on Yelp for a while and finally got the chance to try it the other day when I treated my brother-in-law to lunch. Right away I liked how all the empanadas were lined up in the glass display clearly labeled and nicely organized. The variety of flavors was honestly pretty impressive. I tried my best to skim through all the options, but a line quickly started forming behind us and we had literally just arrived. We both ended up ordering the Combo #1, which comes with two empanadas and a drink. It came out to around $27 total for both of us, which felt like a great price. I chose the KBBQ empanada and the beef empanada, while my brother-in-law ordered the KBBQ and the Cuban empanada. We both really enjoyed the KBBQ one--it was flavorful, moist, warm, and perfectly crispy. I'd definitely come back just for that one again. The beef empanada was alright, but it leaned a bit dry for my taste and I didn't end up finishing it. On the other hand, my brother-in-law said the Cuban empanada was really good--different from what he expected, but in a good way. All the empanadas had a decent amount of filling too and next time I'd love to try one of their sweeter empanada options too. Overall, I'm glad I finally checked this spot out. The service was quick, the selection is fun to explore, and I'm definitely looking forward to coming back to try more flavors.

I wanted to give Nonna's a try only because I was already inside Grand Central Market. Not something I'd go out of my way for or crave, but I figured, "why not." I almost didn't stop because $6.15 for a small empanada felt a bit pricey. I ended up getting the salsa verde chicken, and unfortunately, it was dry and just didn't do it for me. My husband, however, tried the Philly Cheesesteak and the Korean BBQ empanadas, and those were actually really good. The Philly Cheesesteak was definitely the standout. Overall, I wouldn't come back specifically for it, but if you're already there, some flavors are worth trying.

This empanada spot inside Grand Central Market is an absolute must try! The empanadas were incredibly delicious, pretty golden crispy on the outside, and packed with flavorful fillings. Each bite tasted homemade, warm, satisfying, and had that ideal crispy outside and incredible soft inside textures that transported my tastebuds to various levels. What really takes this experience to another level was the customer service. The staff were beyond friendly, welcoming, and genuinely enthusiastic about their food. They made great recommendations, you can tell truly care about the customers. If you're walking through the Market, do yourself a favor and stop here. Fresh, authentic, and made with love. I'll definitely be back!!

Love coming into Grand Central Market for a quick bite whenever we're in DTLA. Last weekend I decided to try Nonna's Empanadas for lunch. It smelled so good and there was a line so I figured it must be decent and it was! I ordered their combo #1 which includes 2 empanadas and a drink for $13. I tried their chicken mushroom & cheese and margherita empanadas with a side of their non-spicy chimichurri sauce. Both were so delicious, but I enjoyed the chicken mushroom & cheese empanada the most; which also went really well with the chimichurri! Service was so friendly and the food was good at a fair price. I'd definitely grab a bite here again!

Nonna's Empanadas (est 2009) is a small empanada stand in GCM. They offer customers hand crafted empanadas and variety of filling flavors from carne asada to queso to banana to dulce de leche y nutella. These empanada are beautifully displayed in-front of an Ohtani baseball player mural. Price per empanada is at $6 quid...oops I meant usd. I had the cheese empanada and I thought it was just okay albeit dry. I had better empanada in my life and this was not it. Overall, it's nice to try Nonna's.

I walked into the Grand Central Market for the first time this past weekend and was in shock of all the great vendors I saw. Nonna's empanadas smelled so delicious so I install was attracted to them. I decided to stop by and take a look for myself. I was greeted by a nice cashier who let us know what were the most popular choices of empanadas. We had just ate but we decided to try one savory and one sweet option. We ended up going with these choices; 10/10 - Pepperoni: so delicious and so cheesy! Like an upgraded hot pocket. But like way better! lol great taste on the pepperoni and you can tell they use high quality cheese. Great cheese pull! 8/10 banana dulce de leche: a little sweet for me but still very good! I'm a sucker for anything banana so this was a good choice! Over all the market has a variety of vendors but Nonna's sticks out like a sore thumb. The ambiance in the place seems so fast pace as everyone is grabbing food and it's pretty loud in there. Great place to go and hang out with friends. Swing by and check it out!

If you've never tried this place, you're missing out! The Margherita and mushroom empanadas are my favorites but the beef is also a top contender. I have not tried all the flavors though. I do enjoy the savory ones more than the sweet ones. The staff at the grand central market location were super nice and the service was fast. If you've ever been here before then you know it gets toasty and stuffy inside so it's best to find a table outside to enjoy your meal.

This is a food court location. There is table area which is first come first serve deal for seating. If looking for something light, yet filling well this is spot. These empanadas good not skimpy in filling. Service staff very nice, since this is food court lots places to seat many people go by all day. Definitely recommend try these empanadas

Empanadas (Chicken Jalapeno, Korean BBQ, Pepperoni)

My wife and I hit up Grand Central Market before a show. We were munchy but not hangry so Nonna's Empanadas was a good choice and the line wasn't long. They have a variety of empanadas to choose from so you're bound to find one that hits the spot for you. We tried the Chicken Jalapeno, Korean BBQ, and Pepperoni empanadas. The Chicken Jalapeno was too dry for us. The Korean BBQ was much better and honestly I wouldn't have thought that Pepperoni would go with empanadas but it did (it's basically a mini-calzone). They have good deals (our 3 empanadas and drink was like $15). If you're in GCM and want a snacky snack, try Nonna's Empanadas. The stand is located on the Hill St. side, next to the GCM merch stand. You can't miss it - there's an Ohtani mural right in front of the register.

Hits: The banana dulce de leche empanada was delicious! It was hot, fresh, and sweet. The service was fast despite the line being somewhat long. Visually the empanadas are super cute with the store's name and the label of its stuffing on the dough. Miss: The Cuban was disappointing. I thought the portion of meat was good, but it lacked the main elements of a Cuban sandwich's pickles, Swiss cheese, and mustard. It was basically just a pork empanada. The price is expensive, but it is in a touristy location so I can somewhat overlook that. Based on my experience and a few other reviews, I would stick to the sweet ones if I decide to return.

They have 4 tower sets: crew set ($109) serving 1-2 persons, chief set ($159.99) serving 3-4, master ($219.99) serving 4-5, captain ($299) serving 5-6. They also have a la carte, hot pot, etc. We had crew set which includes 1.4 lbs Manila clams, 2 whole shell oyster, large clams, shrimps, mussles, scallops, octopus, potatoes, served with korean ceviche, steam egg, pancake, spicy rice cakes, korean noodle soups. There are 3 different dipping sauces which are delicious. It is a lot of food. You definitely get your money worth here. The staff is friendly and attentive. They cooked the seafood at the table. The air ventilator is pretty good but I probably won't wear my must dry-clean clothes to dine here. Overall, Burnin' Shell did live up to its hype!

As for the food let's get into it: - Smoked Trout Dip (9/10) surprisingly one of our favorite dishes, packed a lot of flavor and paired perfect with the crackers. - Sicilian Crudo (10/10) I've had this at other places, but found oyster does it right. Will be adding caviar next time. - Oysters (8/10) prices were reasonable and the oysters themselves were delicious. Wish they had Kumamoto oysters but their selection was more local. - Clam Chowder (7/10) Wasn't terrible, but I prefer a more thicker chowder. Still, at $9 a cup I would give it another try. Back then, they didn't take reservations, but I noticed recently that they started accepting reservations via Resy, so I made a reservation and my husband and I came here in March. Found Oyster is located in East Hollywood, on the same street where Saffy's is. It can be a bit hard to find street parking nearby because of neighborhood rules, but we managed to find a spot after circling a bit. The restaurant is very small, but it has both indoor and outdoor seating. I think the size of it adds to the charm. It also has a nautical theme inside and a New England feel about the place. The seating options inside are either at the bar, or tiny high-top tables. For appetizers, we shared the peel and eat prawns, half a dozen oysters and the sicilian crudo. Everything was good, but the servings were smaller than I expected. I also think that the peel and eat prawns would have been pretty mediocre without the special sauce. For mains, my husband got the lobster roll, while I had the mussels. His lobster roll was good, but in my experience it's hard to go wrong with buttered lobster on bread served with fries. My mussels were fresh and tasty. They were good, but nothing to write home about. Service was friendly and efficient.

There is a combo order of both, but it includes the American marinated crab and an extra small live uni. With their recommendation, we opted for the Korean marinated crab and small uni to share with 2 adults and one kid. When the food came out, they gave us another live uni on the house and I was so happy because I didn't want to share mine! The food was so homey and delicious. The seafood pajeon was so loaded with all the seafood bits and the soy bean soup was the perfect palette cleanser. Service was great and they were so helpful to answer any questions we had. We opted for the grilled halibut and seabass dishes with garlic bread, rice, salad, and ceviche. Even though it was a little cool from the rainy weather, it was still nice enough to eat outside in an enclosed patio with electric heaters. They also have two restroom facilities for any bathroom needs. The main area where we ordered was also where we picked up our orders. We also had the option to call ahead and place orders for pick up/to go. Those were processed in the Seafood Market section (where they had different fresh fish and seafood options). The food was pretty good--opted for garlic butter sauce for the fish and it was the perfect complement to the halibut, but the sea bass was honestly so tender that it needed no sauce. The salad and dressing were as expected. Same with the rice. All of these portions were pretty big.
