    Double-Fried Chicken Wings

This place is DEFINITELY worth the hype. Yes, it's a little pricey for the vibe inside. However, the food is more than worth the price tag. Each and every dish had me saying "WOW!"after tasting it. The wings were crissssspy! The noodles were spicy and filled with very healthy portions of meat. The dumplings were bursting with savory and fresh flavor. The green beans were potentially the best vegetable dish I've ever had. I could eat 12 orders of the green beans alone. I will absolutely re-order those upon every visit. The staff was very kind and knowledgeable. They gave solid recommendations and made us feel comfortable about one of the diner's food allergies.

My husband booked their tasting menu with wine pairing which is why I was surprised when I walked in and saw what looks to be a fast casual spot. Uniquely, they have a bar next to their kitchen where we got to sit and watch, as our waiter said, a "dinner and a show". Our waiter was fantastic - attentive and explained every dish and wine pairing. He clearly has a passion for their food. We got to try most of their most popular dishes, starting with some "snacks" like their kimchi, sichuan cucumbers and daikon. We got a sampling of their best appetizers and entrees, ending with a great coconut custard. The standouts for my husband and I was the avocado salad, crispy chicken spring roll, garlic shrimp dumpling and double fried chicken. They do an amazing job with textures and seasoning. As our waiter explained, their tasting menu is a marathon not a sprint so to let him know if we wanted anything to go. We left with a good amount of food.

Really great food and a great overall experience at Chiko. I definitely recommend checking out the kitchen counter experience - it's well worth it! Chiko is a cozy space with a few tables up front and a counter that gives you a great view of the kitchen. We stopped by for dinner and did the kitchen counter experience, which is a muli-course tasting menu. It's a great way to sample a variety of dishes while watching the chefs work just a few feet away in the open kitchen. We were lucky this evening - it was just me and my friend at the countertop, so we basically had a private experience to ourselves with all the attention and great service! The stand out item for me were the pork & kimchi potstickers. I absolutely loved them and will definitely be coming back for more. I also loved the confit duck fried rice, orange-ish chicken and garlic shrimp dumplings. All were tasty and the overall meal was super filling - we ended up taking some food home because we were so full. Also kudos to the chef, who was amazing and provided impeccable service. He personally introduce each dish with great detail and made sure we had a great overall experience. Overall Chiko provided great food and a great kitchen counter experience. I will definitely be returning - especially for those tasty pork & kimchi potstickers.

Chiko hosted a pop up event for the Lunar New Year and it was absolutely incredible. Every bite was delectable and ambiance was 10/10. Waiter was super friendly and explained every bite and tea we had. Owner came over and said hello. Would absolutely come back. 10

I stopped by because I was getting hangry, and wanted to split a meal with my boyfriend. I am so glad that I stopped by on a whim because I am dreaming about the day that I get to go back. I ordered the soy glazed brisket, and it was the perfect balance of salty and savory. The service was quick given. I literally only had 15 minutes to order and eat. There isn't much seating in the store, just a warning! I can't wait to come back!

Came in to grab a quick bite to eat in the afternoon. We ordered a dish, we're seated, served, and out the door within 15 minutes. We ordered a soy glazed brisket (over rice). The egg was delicious and the sauce was amazing. I will definitely be back for a more formal meal.

While strolling through Eastern Market, we stumbled upon CHIKO by chance. A quick check of their reviews solidified this as our pick for dinner based on all the praise they've received. On a Sunday at 4:00P, the restaurant was empty when we arrived, but more customers arrived closer to 5:00P. The host immediately handed us a menu which consists of small plates, large plates and sides (like Korean banchan). We placed our order at the counter and then selected a table. I noticed that many customers opt for takeout, so even if you dine in during peak dinner time, you may have a good chance of grabbing one of their few tables. An employee brought over some bowls for us to share the entrées, but they were basically the size of rice bowls, so you could really only put one food item in them at a time. I would have much preferred actual plates. + CUMIN LAMB STIR FRY ($19): So good! Tender shredded lamb, mushrooms and caramelized shallots were mixed with the noodles that had a savory, slightly peppery flavor. There was also a vegetable reminiscent of bok choy, which added nice crunch. While ordering, an employee warned us about the heat, saying it's a 7/10 on the spice scale, so we asked for mild and it turned out barely spicy. If you can tolerate heat, I'd recommend leaving it as is. + ROSE DDUKBOKGI ($17): Now, this was spicy (in the most pleasant way)! Chewy rice cakes were fully covered in a rich Gochujang cream sauce and sprinkled with Parmesan cheese. It had a surprising hint of sweetness to it and a generous serving of mushrooms brought some earthy notes. + BLISTERED GREEN BEANS ($10): I love green beans and these had so much flavor from the toasted sesame oil, crispy garlic and smear of ssamjang on the side of the bowl. The beans were salty, crunchy and addicting. + NAPA CABBAGE KIMCHI ($4): I'm picky about kimchi, but this was great. It had an ideal spice level and wasn't too tart. The napa still had a perfect crunch, and I alternated bites of it with the lamb stir fry. + SPIKED PINEAPPLE LIME COOLER ($11): This drink was okay, but I wish the pineapple was more prominent... it was subtle compared to the lime. The drizzle of coconut cream on top gave it a light piña colada flavor. This amount of food was the right amount for three of us, and we enjoyed everything we ordered. I wish we could have tried more off their menu!

This is a longtime standard that I finally made it to. Their online menu shows vegetarian options that weren't clear in-person, which was a bit odd because the two menus actually offered a lot of things that looked different. Eventually, I ended up with a wok-charred green bean dish that I take to be one of their signatures, as well as some cold noodles and a mushroom salad. Everything was covered in chili oil, not the worst thing from my perspective. The noodles had some included vegetables that packed a nice punch. The freshly cooked green beans with just a hint of numbing spices were indeed the highlight. I could have done with a clearer menu and maybe something that wasn't quite so oily for contrast, but this place arose in an era where DC didn't have much in the way of fresh or original Asian cuisine, and it still stands out as having something to offer.

    New seasonal corn dish

We've eaten at Chico at least seven times. It's an outstanding fusion restaurant. We love to go with a least four people so we can try lots of dishes! The green beans and chilled peanut noodles are outstanding and a must order for us. Orange-ish chicken is really good not too sweet (and I'm not a huge orange chicken fan). We always order the full Monty. We typically get at least one dumpling/pot sticker--they are all good. My husband really likes the cumin lamb stir fry which I think is okay but not a must order for me. We tried two new seasonal corn dishes (August 2025) which were unremarkable.

I brought my out-of-town friend here who was craving Asian food on a Saturday night. Since it is mostly a takeout place, we were able to secure seats for 2 people without difficulty. Orders are placed directly at the cashier before seating. We ordered and shared the brussels sprouts and Lamb cumin stir fry. The brussels sprouts were unexpectedly delicious 5/5! I highly recommend this dish if you want a veggie dish. I expected the lamb cumin stir fry to be succulent based on a rec from an acquaintance and I was not disappointed! Don't be fooled by the white color of the noodles. It just was not mixed properly. So, all the noodles were on top while the lamb was at the bottom. The lamb was so tasty and tender that we almost ordered another plate! By the time we got to the lamb, we wanted more noodles but they were sadly all gone. Definitely order the lamb cumin stir fry!

Well this place was a great surprise. I found it thanks to my yelp users. The staff were really good and welcoming. The place was cleaning and tables were empty till we got there. Ambiance was good with the house music. I ordered the Fried Rice and Double Fried Wings. Food was amazing and a lot. Wash down with a nice ginger ale. I would definitely recommend paying a visit.

We love Chiko in my household! This is always a safe bet for take out when we are in the mood for something heavy and flavorful. I have gotten both the veggie rice and confit duck rice but the duck rice is the superstar of the menu for me! It's such a filling entree and that's really important for the eaters like myself. I also like the double fried wings, they're so tasty and they're gluten free!! The inside is pretty straight forward, I believe it's only take out.

So glad this place is back open for seated dining! I had gotten their salmon as take out once over a year ago and it was delicious. This was only my second time there and the menu is so intentional and diverse and original. They also have a vegetarian and gluten free menu which is awesome! My part of 4 got way too much food accidentally because thwir portions are large, but they made for great leftovers. The diakon side was a perfect starter. Then got the peanut noodles and wok green beans to share and I couldnt recommend the latter enough. they were perfectly charred and crispy!! I got the brisket for my main and it was creaming and delicious- absolutely no notes. The rest of my table also enjoyed their choices! Got this strawberry custard for dessert and I could've eaten the whole thing by myself. Staff was so kind and attentive and efficient. And gave great recs! Inside seating is limited and they get busy during dinner time, but the space was great!

I visited on a Friday around 6:30 PM and sat at the bar to catch the end of happy hour (Mon-Sun 5-7 PM). The bar was empty at the time, but a few other people showed up later. The dining room had a handful of tables occupied. In short, easy to get a seat. Drinks were good. I like the Somaek ($6) which is a small beer and a shot of soju. Beer ($7) was beer. We got some beef and pork mandu (dumplings) that were pretty good. 6 pieces for $10 on HH. We got two entrees, the Ddukbokgi ($28) and Yukgaejang ($29), which came with four banchan. Ddukbokgi is chewy rice cakes, gochujang, onion, and bulgogi. We thought it was only ok -- we've had better, including at Mandu in the past. Yukgaejang was a new dish for me. The menu described it as a "spicy beef stew, brisket, noodles, shiitake, bean sprouts, and egg." I expected the brisket to be sliced and recognizably brisket, but it was pulled -- it looked and tasted more like pulled pork. The dish also didn't have any noodles in it. I didn't like it. The banchan was seaweed, bean sprouts, kimchi, and cucumbers. It was okay. Service at the bar was fine.

So was the overhead music. Guess I expected a more authentic Korean experience, but the place was more or less an Americanized Korean bistro. Still, the foods seemed authentic! We ordered a few things to share... Mandu, Dolsot Bibimbap, and this Ssam Board. For drinks, my husband got some beer (?), and I got this fruity cocktail (??). First, the positives! The Mandu was really, really good...and quite meaty! The Dolsot Bibimbap was good in that it came with a generous load of fresh veggies. Now the problems. The Bulgogi in the Dolsot Bibimbap was problematic. It was a bit too fatty...and too chunky...and just hard to eat. It was also a bit bland! They should have cut it up a bit...or provided us with proper cutlery, like a fork and a knife! This is a pet peeve of mine...but nowadays, hardly any restaurant gives you the full set of cutlery. Just fork, or just chopsticks!! Then the Ssam Board. While it looked luscious, I personally had a problem with the meat. While I love Galbi, cuts of Galbi was all-out rare. The waiter didn't even ask for our preference, by the way. If I knew it'd be prepared that red, I would have ordered something else. If it was medium-rare, for instance, I might have liked this dish. My husband prefers a much more rare cut of meat than me, yet even he thought this was too red. Also, I expected something more than raddish for sides. Not sure if this "Board" was worth $42. We also tried this Black Sesame Ice Cream dessert. I loved the flavor...but nothing too special. Service was a bit off as well. While friendly at our table, our waiter wasn't too attentive...especially in the beginning. If he stopped by our table earlier, I might have gotten them to bring back the Ssam Board to cook the meat a bit more. Frankly, I was underwhelmed with the foods, the presentation, even the service. Overall, there were just too many things amiss (or just underwhelming??)...so much so that I doubt I'll pick this place again.

For $45 per person, the all-you-can-eat experience feels like a really solid deal considering how many protein options and side dishes you get. They start you off with a variety of banchan (side dishes), including a salad with this super tasty dressing that had the perfect little spicy kick. For the BBQ, we kicked things off with the spicy bulgogi and butter garlic shrimp, while the others tried the pork belly (I don't eat pork). Later we ordered the steak, spicy brisket, and grilled squid, which were all delicious. The spicy brisket especially was a standout for me. The guys also ordered two rounds of fried dumplings that looked amazing, but since they contain pork, I had to sit those out. I'd love to see Chadol add a veggie dumpling option to the menu! As for the sides, the kimchi and cold glass noodles were both hits at our table, and of course we all added white rice. The "mashed potatoes" though? Definitely more like potato salad and unfortunately very bland. On the other hand, the cheese corn costs extra but is 1000% worth adding. For drinks, the guys enjoyed the Woody Old Fashioned while I had a mezcal margarita-style cocktail that was smoky and refreshing. We also ordered one of the chicken options but never received it and eventually just gave up on it. One of the coolest parts of the experience is the ordering system. Most meats are ordered directly from a machine at your table, and the food comes out quickly on this conveyor belt-style setup which was honestly so fun. Drinks and side dishes are ordered through the servers. The atmosphere was lively and energetic without feeling overwhelming. The restaurant is actually much larger inside than I expected, with a modern setup that works well for smaller groups. That said, I didn't really notice tables for larger parties, so I'm not sure how they accommodate groups bigger than 6 people. Service started off a little rough because our server wasn't very attentive, but after I called it out, he definitely stepped it up and things improved. Overall, Chadol was a really good experience and absolutely worth the price. The 1.5-hour seating limit makes sense too, both to keep things moving and give others a chance to enjoy the experience. I'd definitely go back!

The database is hard to navigate and a great deal of the songs don't come with lyrics so that was a bummer. Also they don't display the song when you're singing, sometimes it would be random figures on the screen so that was different. My friend ordered skewers, wings and fries and that was fairly solid so I don't have much input there. The bathroom was disgusting. Water leaking all over the floor and trash cans overflowing. My food was really good. The wings were crispy, and the sauce was sweet and spicy, as I like it. The corn was also tasty and very cheesy. The cole slaw that came with the wings was ok. It was edible, but I have had better. The fries were decent, but it is really hard to mess up fries, even though I have seen it done. This joint has an easy process for placing food orders. The food is better than average, and I really liked it. They lost one star because the service was just mehhhh or not memorable.

One of my clients is near this Bonchon, yet I'm usually always rushing home to eat dinner. I…read moredecided to have a slower evening and eat at Bonchon for dinner for once with my partner. I was a little wary of coming here based on a past Bonchon experience elsewhere and based off of some reviews, but I was pleasantly surprised with the experience here. The only one star deduction is that the tables felt perpetually sticky and that's never a great feeling. Other than that, the service was super prompt, the ambiance was fun since we came on trivia night (we didn't want to play), and the food exceeded expectations. If you're not into having a loud lively environment, I'd advise against coming when their trivia nights are (when I went, it was on a Tuesday evening). The sides we ordered were kimchi and street corn. The street corn tasted a bit more on the Mexican side than the Korean side - MexiKorean fusion I suppose? I'm also not quite seeing it on the menu anymore... The kimchi was very standard. What exceeded expectations was how fresh the chicken was, and how perfectly crispy and saucy the fried chicken was prepared. We opted for half soy garlic and half spicy drumsticks and wings. The spicy was a little more spicy than I expected it to be, and the soy garlic was as expected: savory, sweet, and salty. The pickled radish is always a nice palate cleanser! If you're craving Korean fried chicken and you're in the Navy Yard area, I'd give Bonchon a try as a dine-in customer. I can't really speak much to takeout as that's a whole different experience.
