Super cute location and neighborhood! The service was fast and staff were very friendly and helpful. The food was delicious and portions were HUGE! We definitely would have been fine with just one of the bowls to split between the two of us ... but they make for great leftovers! read more

Went to this restaurant on a Sunday evening. The dining area was small so we waited awhile for a table. The order process was, you scan a QR code on your phone to order and pay via Apple Pay or credit card. I did that for our party of six. After about 15 minutes, a wait staff came by to check if we were ready to order. I told her we already ordered, paid and showed her the confirmation on my phone. She then told me that Apple Pay didn't work and took our order again on her device where I scanned my credit card, added a tip and signed for the order. 20 minutes later one order came out then another 8 minutes four other came out. After another 5 minutes I checked on the last order. I was told the cook was backed up but I saw people came way after us got their orders ate and left while we were still waiting. 5 minutes after we checked on the last order for the second time. it finally came. The last order came after everyone else had finished their dinner. Needless to say we were not happy. The food was mediocre at best. The wait staff apologized and said she would comp the one meal that was so late. She even gave me a paper receipt showing the credit. I thanked her and finally left after almost two hours. Guess what, my credit card was charged for the original amount without the comp. Never again! read more

So , my boyfriend and I went here for our anniversary weekend.. and this was right after we checked in, at the hotel (basically a "Stay"-cation, we are both locals, me a DC native though lol --love the new restaurants in the city) . Well, as soon as you come in , the kitchen is jumping , flames are up in the air...the smells are so comforting , and you are greeted by the super nice staff. I had the Kimchi side to start & my boyfriend got the street corn ( Pretty much Elote lol but with their own twist) . I was so jealous, like soooo jealous, because it looked super good . But, Kimchi always has my love. Then, we got our orders. I had the Smashed Salmon dish and my boyfriend had the lamb dish . I forgot what his dish was called exactly, because that salmon dish was amazing lol. I love the black bean butter and how they added the mushrooms in there as well. Shiitake mushrooms have amazing flavor, so to combine it with salmon is so savory to me. The salmon is cooked all the way through and not seared , lol, like I like it. All in all, I would totally recommend this to anyone who wants to try a fresh take on this cuisine. We also had either the owner or co-owner come to us while we ate and he was very nice and let us know the flavors of our dish and he was very friendly . This is an amazing spot to unwind after a long week and have some drinks and great food!! ( this is a REAL review guys lol) we loved it ! PS -- if you ever think of it, amazing Chiko staff , consider vegetarian options too?? ( I'm pescatarian but still lol) read more

Chiko has been recommended by a few friends, so I finally gave it a try for Restaurant Week. It did not disappoint! Everything I had was delicious and each item came well packaged for the delivery order and was easy to heat up as needed. The orange-ish chicken is a tasty plan on the traditional fast food chinese dish and those potstickers were a solid choice. I will definitely try this spot again soon! read more

This place was amazing, I ordered the shrimp toast and orangish chicken. The servings are big so I had enough for lunch the next day. Chicken was crispy and not greasy at all, shrimp toast was so good and have nice heat to it. I will definitely be back next time I am In DC. Wonderful flavors and the staff was so friendly! read more

All I will say is "GET THE SHRIMP TOAST!" It is amazing. I also got the chicken fried rice, which was also very, very good. Our party of 3 were all very impressed, full and left with enough leftovers for another meal. read more

This place rocks. The time and care put into every dish shows up on the plate. Quality ingredients and skilled chefs make you forget you are in a fast casual spot and just paid less than $20! I am obsessed with the Cumin Lamb Stir Fry. Been ordering it almost every week as takeout since the lockdown started. So yum.

I ordered contactless pick up from here the other week and yum yum yum! I was trying to save chiko for when I couldn't tolerate cooking anymore so I ordered enough take out to feed me the entire week (don't judge me). I ordered the spy glazed chicken wings, wok blistered green beans, smashed salmon, rib eye and rice cakes, the orangeish chicken, the pickled veggies, and the kimchi. I have to say the pick up but great! I called to say I was near by and my bag was waiting on a table outside the restaurant for me. A friendly staff member waved and and double checked my name and I took my food on it's journey home. I have to say the wok blistered green beans and the chicken wings were my favorite. The serving size of the chicken was enormous and the sauce was SO tasty. The rib eye and rice cakes were also a close second. They were delicious, but the rice cakes get stuck together if you try to make them last in the fridge too long. The orangeish chicken was also packages super thoughtful (with the sauce in a separate container). I tossed it in the oven for a quick revival (a day later) and it was good to go. The salmon was probably my least favorite (although STILL delicious) it just wasn't as flavorful and frankly umptious as the other dishes. Super pleased with my order and I enjoyed mixing and matching my items for the few days while they lasted. read more

Came to this place twice in two days!!!! The cumin lamb dish and cold noodle salad are just incredible. The service was great the first time, but the second was even better! My cumin lamb was a bit too spicy. So the manager not only replaced my dish but offered us delicious rice wine!! I will keep coming here for tasty food and The great service. Truly worth it!!!!! COME EAT HERE!!!!! read more

Finally some good asian food in the city! We had the noodles and the salad. The place smells so fragrant as soon as you walk in. it is an open kitchen so ambiance can get a bit loud. Pricer than some asian places but They give you a decent portion. Name of the restaurant comes from the fusion of Chinese and Korean therefore it is Chiko. a Chinese part must be from sechuan cuz there is definitely a kick of spice in the dishes and they also have side sauces for you. careful of the one that looks like extra peanut sauce because it definitely has wasabi in it. would be the perfect Asian spot if a bubble tea place just opens downstairs where panas used to be. read more

Everytime I go here I try so hard not to order the same thing... but then always end up getting the green beans. Everything on the menu packs a punch of flavor (and heat)! It's a great place to go for lunch if you work in the Dupont area or for dinner. Go in a group so you can get a bunch of dishes to share. It's small and no reservations (you place your order, pick up a number, and find a table) so you may have to wait but it moves quickly. They do have a chef's counter that you can book in advance - on my 2020 bucket list! read more

Happy to see they opened up a new location in DuPont! I've been a fan of Chef Drewno's since The Source. The menu is quite large, I look forward to trying it all. Quick tip - ask for chili oil on the side, it adds nice heat and smoke to the food! read more

Life changing experience. An experience that you'll never forget. I came here with my wife and a friend and we didn't wanna leave. The cauliflower tots, soy soft cooked eggs, peanut noodles, smashed Salmon and charred vegetable noodles, all 10/10. Not to mention the entrees took a lil longer than expected and they said it was on the house. I should also mention that this is my first time writing a review, but the experience was so great that I felt compelled to do so. read more

Although I am usually skeptical of fusion restaurants, after reading several Yelp reviews I decided to give this place a shot, and was so glad I did! If you were going to order just one dish, I would highly recommend the cumin lamb stir fry. The noodles are soft with the perfect amount of chewiness, the lamb is tender and flavorful, and the mushrooms are a nice complement. Thanks to warnings of the dish's spice level from fellow reviewers, I asked them to make it less spicy. They generously complied, and the mild spices allowed me to fully taste the other flavors (instead of downing gallons of water, as I normally don't eat spicy foods). For a hearty appetizer (or entree, no judgment here), get the bulgogi tots. Unexpected and interesting combo of tator tots with bulgogi (nicely seasoned and tender), cheese and kimchi. Yes, you read that right. Talk about a unique flavor combo! Overall, this place is worth trying (with hearty takeout portions) and I'm looking forward to getting their other dishes. read more

Overhyped and poor service. I heard amazing things about Chiko from friends and yelp and really wanted to like it. It's fast casual, has a convenient location, and has an interesting menu. The food was disappointing and the service nonexistent (which would have been okay except they ask you to tip 18-30% upon ordering). My experience consisted of waiting in a hallway for 45 minutes without any direction from the fellow manning the reservation system. When I asked if we could take one of the many open tables he said no without any explanation (it would've taken just a minute to explain how they were saving them for the larger groups ahead of us.) Even though we were in line for so long waiting order, it took forever to get our orders in because the host was too busy making drinks (despite not liking the way his customer service I do feel bad for the guy - he clearly had "too much on his plate"). Food review: Portions were large, and I ended up taking a bit home. Flavor missed the mark. I think they are overcharging significantly (however it is DC, what's new). They brought out the food quickly and never checked up on us or asked us how it was. - half-a-cado salad ($9): very cucumber heavy and lacked flavor. The crispy lotus root was a nice touch. - wagshals chopped brisket ($18): very greasy, essentially oily fried rice. I think the problem is the type of sausage they use which is very fatty. Would've been salvageable if it had vegetables or greens and less grease. - cumin lamb stir fry ($18) - the best dish of the bunch. Tad greasy but cumin pared well with the lamb and was a strong flavor. Could've used vegetables but it was decent. Disclaimers: I went on a Saturday night and it's a small space. If you go to the Capitol Hill location or can stop by for lunch, you might have a different experience. I also did that thing I sometimes do when I order too many similar dishes and regret it, wish I had skipped the brisket and tried the orange chicken and broccoli. Also, I personally love vegetables and healthy-ish food and understand that's not what they're going for. Where I recommend going instead: Chicken and whiskey for a better fast casual experience or if you're really into eating on metal trays. Far East taco grille for an amazing fusion experience (Mexican and Korean) where you get a lot of bang for your buck and will only spend ~$10. My advice to Chiko: Start taking reservations for dinner and prioritize your customer experience. read more

You will not be disappointed with your meal from CHIKO! The house fried rice (changes frequently) is consistently the best fried rice I've ever had. Tons of flavor, some heat, and hard to stop eating. I'm obsessed with the Chiko Cauliflower. This tempura dish covered in delicious spices comes with a sauce that is to die for. HIGHLY recommend. The food is consistently amazing quality for a decent price. The portion size generally lasts me two meals--there is always plenty for leftovers. Try the lunch special! Great price for a few different items. read more

I've lived in DC since 2016. Chino is my favorite restaurant by far mainly because of its excellent food AND consistency. Dine in, delivery, restaurant week - my meals have always been on point! My favorite items are the lamb cumin stir fry, half a cado salad and coconut pudding. read more

Small, unassuming restaurant with delicious Korean-Chinese food and a very friendly staff. Everyone was extremely friendly-- which I really appreciated. The only downside was the prices, which felt a little high given how casual it is and it was incredibly hot (maybe the AC just wasn't working? ‍). Regardless, the lamb noodles, brisket, and chicken wings were great! read more

UPDATE: I am updating my review from 1 star to 3 star just because of my experience at the eastern market location. That location is way more organized, less crowded and the staff is super nice and attentive. A big shout to Victoria and her staff. The food is good in both location but the management really needs to consider their set up here. Either make it a dine-in place or a takeout. It's stuck in between which is why their service always falls short. Whoever wants to eat lamb stir fry for dinner, they should check out the other location as this place always seems to be short on their lamb stir fry supply. read more

We took advantage of the Restaurant Week Lunch Menu. Had the Pork and Kimchi potstickers, that were outstanding. The double fried chicken wings were the bomb! I could have eaten a whole plate of them, but we only got 3. Our absolute favorite was the spicy bulgogi stir fry. I will be coming back just to get that again. Sadly I didn't get any pics, but I assume others have posted them. We will be back again for dinner. read more

Good place for an afternoon snack with happy hour dumplings and drinks. Everything was delicious but very spicy.

We ordered take-out, lunch combination, shrimp toast and orange-chicken everything was delicious, our only complain was we're not expecting dark-thigh chicken for the orange-chicken at least it should said that oj the menu or we missed it because for sure will skip it but otherwise everything was really good. read more

I got restaurant week lunch Cary out and the food did not disappoint:) The chicken spring rolls were delicious. Perhaps a bit on the salty side, but I reached in and made sure I cleaned out all the crispy crumbles. The side sauce was very tasty as well. The chicken sandwich was so damn good. Sorry, it took me this long to try their food. Overall, not bad. Food was prepared quickly and came out in a reasonable time. Got the chicken egg rolls which were made in filo dough and came with a side of Chinese mustard, which was quite flavorful. The cumin lamb stir fry, with noodles, had a decent amount of spice. It was a touch oily, maybe cut down just a touch on that, and that would have been perfect. Overall, I would be back again, just hopefully much sooner! read more

This is one of those places where I used to really like it when I ate it at the restaurant pre covid but take out was disappointing. My experience was more 3.5 stars. We tried a variety of food, including the brisket with soft egg, the cumin lamb noodles, the bulgogi with rice cakes, and a fried chicken pieces over rice. We liked best the brisket dish and the fried chicken (does not have egg or dairy - great for allergy issues). Found the cumin lamb noodles too spicy for our personal taste and the bulgogi with rice cakes suprisingly spicy (not noted) and oily. Also found the price point a bit high for the end result. We had a friendly chat with the manager, and was happy with how he/staff handled initial allergy questions. The atmosphere is definitely more for adults, but coming in as a party with kids, wasn't too bad as we were lucky to score 2 small tables to push together. (You have to go up front set of several stairs to access the restaurant). We did find the restaurant noisy and hard to hear conversation, with tables placed close together (again not an issue if you're an adult couple walking in). Not in a rush to return, but if so, would like to continue trying other things on menu. read more
