I came here with a group of 9 for weekend dim sum/ayce brunch -- great value! The place is very pretty with some tables including lazy Susan's. The options of the food has meat options and vegetarian options. Really great to try out lots of things. The food arrived quickly too! I'm not sure if the quality goes down with ayce but I've head better à la carte options at other Peter Chang restaurants... still good though!

Had a great dining experience here! The inside is lovely, very modern, large, and very cute booth seating. The service was great; very quick and attentive with great food recommendations. For food I highly recommend the Peking Duck. A fav of mine for sure! All of the dumplings are fabulous as well. The Pan-Fried Shrimp Dumplings and Pork Soup Dumplings were other favorites. The vegetable side were wonderful too; I loved the Brussels Sprouts & Tofu and the Crispy Eggplant. Overall a great spot for good food and great vibes.

Winter doldrums! Break out for some tasty dim sum. Holy moly, I have been holding out to try an authentic dim sum place in D.C. and my daughter's choice was to try Chang Chang's. Good idea! Weekend Dim Sum brunch you can choose à la carte or from their all you can eat menu, currently $38 for adults, half the price for children(didn't ask for specific ages). Reservations are highly recommended, go when they first open to be able to try more selections before they run out of a specific dish. Wait staff are very attentive, you place an order to begin with, then add more dishes as you go and your appetite dictates. We managed to get through most of the first page, were too full to order much from the second page. This is a lively and energetic place. I won't go into individual dishes, only to say it was all unique and the flavors were spot on. Prepared and served nice and warm, rice made wrappings were moist not dry or chewy. Fillings of seafood, pork or beef fillings were complimented with herbs and seasonings that were not overwhelming and truly enjoyed. Come prepared to eat. They have a time limit of 75" for dining although I don't know how strict they are to adhering to it. I had pre-reserved a parking spot through a parking app or you could try your luck with street parking. The restaurant is spacious but there was quite a number of people waiting to get seated. Service is quick. A moment to enjoy longer conversations would require a different way of coming for a meal. Not the weekend dim sum special.

Very welcoming took us even though we did not have reservations. The setting was nice and clean wait staff were attentive and made good suggestions on food. Had the Cantonese spring rolls and fried rice fantastic, rice was full of shrimp and the spring roll was piping hot and delicious. For the main course I had the kung pao chicken, fantastic spice, not too hot, and very tasty. Great experience.

I am dying to go back. Friends and I got here around 2 PM before the dim sum AYCE ended (3 PM). We wanted to eat as much as we could as we were going to a concert and wouldn't be getting out until after 10 PM. We had dan dan noodles that had such great heat and the perfect amount of sauce. The bao buns were soft with savory meat filling. The braised pork belly melted in your mouth. The soup dumplings were great, but we did not get the proper spoons to eat them with, which sucked, but we made it work. The shumai were much better than other places I've been to. And the custard lava bao bun was so good. I've been dreaming about it. Now the drinks were were not big fans of but we drank them the ambiance was quiet and our server made sure he checked in on us constantly because we were cutting it close with time on the AYCE. We will deff be back.

I've eaten at Chang Chang before during their brunch, but decided to try delivery. I ordered the hot and sour soup, ma po tofu, and the Dan Dan noodles. When I ate in at the restaurant, everything was really just OK. This included Service and the food. I will note that the restaurant did have a cool look and feel to it, and I did like that the booths did give some space between you and other parties. I wasn't really blown away or impressed with anything, so I was really hoping that this would be a different experience since it had been over a year. Discussing the food, I did like the hot and sour soup. It's not your traditional style, but it was still very flavorful and I didn't like it. The ma po tofu was good, not the best that I've had, but it was still very flavorful and good. The DNA noodles were good, but it did feel like something was missing from them. I did add some extra like salt and flavoring to them really to get them to that next level. I do want to know that I do appreciate their packaging for to go food. It was extremely well covered to ensure that nothing leaked or got out. It is super awesome. Overall, I would say my opinion is probably still the same of this restaurant. I don't know if I would probably go back after this. I think maybe if you're a meat eater, this is probably a better restaurant for you, but as a vegetarian, I just really didn't hit the spot for me.

Recessed slightly below the street in a downtown area, this is perhaps the most prominent in the Chang family of restaurants. The menu is broad, and they split out a vegetarian section that has a lot of interesting options. I got both some tofu and a vegetable. Their preparation of cabbage is sumptuous; even if you're thinking that cabbage can't be that great, the savory flavor of this dish along with garlic cooked in just the right way to make it sing is a winner. They're ma po tofu was strong in both astringent and spicy flavors as well. In principle, I am okay with the policy of not automatically including rice, but I wish the online system it made it more obvious that I was going to leave without any rice. Of course, some people don't want a ton of rice and rather than try and rectify the situation. I just went to a slight bit more ketogenic than usual.

Cold night in DC, over 2 feet of snow and temperatures in the teens. Where to go to warm up? Chang Chang. Szechwan food done perfectly. I chose the Claypot Beef Tenderloin Chili and the Hot & Sour soup. Just spicy enough to unfreeze the nose, fingers, and toes. My partner had the Pork Soup Dumplings and Beef Chow Fat. Absolutely delicious. We'll be back.

Decent dim sum brunch Made a res as a large group to try out their dim sum brunch. Restaurant had cute asian inspired decor and service was friendly and accommodating. It's also conveniently located by Dupont so easy to meet up as a group. However, I found the food just ok. Dishes came out as they were made so not particularly photo op friendly if you care about that. We got an assortment of dishes: soup dumplings (liked these the best), har gao (can't go wrong w this one), chive and shrimp dumplings (ok), siu mai (so so but I've never really been a siu mai fan), char siu bao (decent but nothing special), spicy sichuan wontons (recommended by our server; the group liked this one), dan dan noodles (pretty good), scallions bubble pancake (it sounded really interesting but was just interestingly shaped), a few other dishes, and charcoal lava custard buns (the color was interesting, taste was just ok) to finish. Also ordered some tea to share which tasted great. We definitely did take advantage of the unlimited option as a large group so I think we got our money's worth but I much prefer the more authentic dim sum flavors at da hong pao. It's a decent dim sum brunch though with a more modern vibe in a convenient location if that's what you're looking for.

My wife and I enjoyed the dim sum brunch together. First off, the dining area is vibrant and aesthetically pleasing to the eye. We arrived first so it was crazy by the end of our experience how packed it was and so lovely. The entire staff were very welcoming and seemed very happy to serve you. Onto the food: we tried about 65% of the menu. Of everything we ordered, only one dish we were not a fan of. The beef truffle pastry was just a weird combination for our palette. But the others were absolutely wonderful, and surprising how fast they brought out the food. I always enjoy a good beef chow fun; the pork belly and spare ribs were delightfully flavored; the pork soup dumplings and steamed shrimp dumplings were absolutely transcendent; the char siu bao (manapuas where I grew up) brought me back home. I enjoyed the flavor of the green beans but I wish they had a snap to them. The cherry on top was the charcoal custard bun. Makes me want to come back and just order that over and over. Thank you to our server, Kelvin, for the recommendation. Just some tips: they will add a gratuity charge. So be prepared. And, pace yourself. The food does come out fast. I made the rookie mistake of ordering everything at once and feeling overwhelmed and ultimately filling up faster than what I would have liked.

The broccoli was crispy, the beef was moist. No thickening flavor like flour or corn starch was evident in its tasty sauce. It wasn't even too salty. Go figure! I sampled a crispy rice salad and some drunken noodles, expecting to eat about half of each. I asked them to hit me with the full spice level for my drunken noodles, and they were venomous, even once I had gotten used to them. The people were preparing some spice trays to be used for ad hoc seasoning, but I had no need of any further chili. A Thai iced tea with lychee I thought was going to be a milk tea, as the term Thai iced tea normally connotes, but it was in fact just tea with fruit. Still good though, and it came with one full lychee. Some of the other people eating around me noted that they planned on leftovers and instead ate everything they got, a comment that the portions aren't huge but also that the flavors are captivating. The challenge of the menu is its size: it includes old school standards that your father may have ordered, yet has some much more interesting and tongue-tingling szechuan options also. So it behooves the diner to take time to read through thr long menu carefully and to order selectively. Service is efficient and special requests are handled with grace, rather than the eye rolling of their peers. We first ordered crispy beef, which wws well executed with the beef shreds still juicy despite their crackle coating. The sauce had a mild bit of chili heat and subtle sweetness, and was generously salted with a medley of julienned veggies. Our second dish was General Tao Chicken, which is more commonly known as General Tso. It was again, a very well executed version of what has become a popular classic, with perfectly coated and fried nuggets of tender chicken breastfeeding in a sweet and spicy sauce served with broccoli and chili peppers. Sichuan Pavilion is very snug, amd something of a "rabbit warren" with a series of rooms connected by tight pathways. Tables can be small, so try to book in advance. Also, some of the best dishes are the more traditional szechuan style, do take the time to ask your server about them and be prepared for some heat.

We were sat down quickly since it wasnt crowded for a sunday evening. The servers were helpful with the menu. We ordered about 10 minutes into our visit. We ordered appetizers to include Taiwanese popcorn chicken, spicy wontons, and cucumber salad. We also ordered our meals, too. A beef lamen, pork soup dumplings, crab and pork soup dumplings, and I originally wanted the fried chicken curry lamen but he talked me against it due to spice level and I opted for the sake chicken, per his recommendation. The soup dumplings came out abt 15 min later at which I was told that the cucumber salad was sold out and asked if I wanted anything else. I passed since I had ordered the popcorn chicken already. My friend wasnt a fan of her pork soup dumplings and didnt finish them at all. She stated a severe lack of flavor. The crab/pork ones were a hit for the other friend. I cant eat pork nor beef, so I was still sitting and waiting for my popcorn chicken appetizer to hold me off a bit. About another 20 minutes passed then the beef lamen came out for one friend and then an order of the curry lamen. We were confused on if this was our actual order until he realized that he wrote down the wrong dish for me after I explained that he told me to get the sake chicken instead. He apoligized but by this point, I hadnt had food in roughly 6 hours, I was starving and asked to keep the wrong order, please. He refused and said he would get me the correct item because it's just in the back. Keep in mind that the spicy won tons were still missing and so was my popcorn chicken. About 10 minutes later, the spicy won tons finally made it and she enjoyed them more than her pork soup dumplings. Then the other server comes to tell me that there is more cucumber salad. Im not sure how we go from sold out to availability nearly an hour later but I still refused since I was ready for my main entree at this point. The other friend ended up ordering it instead. She said it was good. I didn't try out of frustration of how this experience was unfolding for me. My entree finally came out after another 15 or so minutes, which meant it acrually was NOT sitting in the back and ready. Im exhausted. Im starving. Ive sat here and watched my table eat while my orders were fumbled for some odd reason. The sake chicken was okay. Its really like katsu chicken with a ton of yum yum and eel sauce over a bed of rice. Best way to explain it. I probably would have enjoyed the original curry dish more. About another 10 minutes later, my popcorn chicken arrives, which beyond upset me because I asumed this order wasnt put in at this point. It had been over an hour! I gave it to my friend instead after trying one and not enjoying the flour-heavy taste. I'm not sure if this was an off night or what but I cant say that I will return just from the sheer time it took to get our orders! An hour and half was beyond ridiculous when the place wasnt even full. No one explained the delays nor came to give us updates while we were waiting, either. I gave them a star for the food being half enjoyed by some of my party and another for pricing because it really wasnt expensive, which was a plus. If you have hours to spare and dont arrive hungry, check this place out!

My husband and I are new parents and don't get out to DC for date nights anymore. Our generous friends gifted us a $250 gift card to Nobu DC so we could enjoy a special evening out. We paid for an expensive Uber into the city and ordered dinner, even adding additional items beyond the gift card amount because we were enjoying ourselves. When it came time to pay, we were told the gift card "wasn't working" and that we would need to use another form of payment. We were confused but didn't want to create a scene, so we paid the $360+ bill with our credit card. After getting home, we contacted our friend, who confirmed she purchased the gift card in person directly from Nobu DC. This was not a third-party retailer purchase. It appears to have been an activation error on the restaurant's end. We called Nobu to resolve the issue and provided proof of purchase. Instead of correcting what was clearly an internal error, we were told their gift cards are handled by a third party and that we needed to contact them ourselves. We did. The third-party representative requested detailed purchase information (what card was used to buy it, where it was purchased, etc.), which we promptly provided. He stated the issue would need to be escalated to Nobu headquarters. Our dinner was on November 22nd. It has now been months with no resolution despite weekly follow-ups. At this point: * Our friend is out $250 * We are out $360+ * Nobu has effectively been paid twice Beyond the financial aspect, it's incredibly disappointing that no one has taken ownership of what appears to be a clear activation mistake at the point of sale. Instead, the burden has fallen entirely on the customer to chase down a resolution. For a restaurant of this caliber and price point, the service recovery has been extremely underwhelming. Until this is resolved, I cannot recommend supporting a business that fails to stand behind its own gift cards.
