    Spicy Pork Buns

Grabbed dinner here with a friend in a cold fall day and it was great! We sat at the communal table, which seats several parties together, and ordered drinks. I asked our server what he recommended and went with the Lychee-tini which was sweet and balanced, not overly sweet in any way. We ordered the pork buns to start, which were a little bigger than we thought and so flavorful (recommend!). I ended up ordering the spicy miso and chose spice level 5 (levels range from 1-10) and it was a mild spice for me. Excited to come back in colder months!

A cute underground ramen spot with a cozy and inviting atmosphere. The restaurant has sit-down tables and communal counter seating. My friend and I were seated at the counter when we dined here. I ordered the Spicy Miso Ramen, which was rich and flavorful. Next time, I'd opt for extra noodles and chashu for a more filling and satisfying bowl. We also tried the bulgogi buns. The marinade was tasty, the beef was ground and shaped into a patty. I would have preferred thinly sliced beef. The staff was quick and efficient. While Sakuramen isn't my favorite ramen spot in the city, it's a solid choice if you're in the neighborhood and craving a flavorful bowl.

In need of some ramen during the cold weather in DC and we tried out this spot. We got the bulgogi baos and the flavor was perfect. It was so yummy and juicy, so definitely something to try. I got the gojiramen which is like the shoyu ramen I usually get. The pork belly had a great flavor and the noodles were so yummy. I just wish they didn't put so much bean sprouts and it would've been perfect, well, if it also had an egg, but still happy with my order. Definitely a place to check out if you're hungry, needing warmth from the cold and/or are visiting or live in the area. Lots of other restaurants in the area too that looked really good.

I went here for dinner with some friends and we enjoyed our evening! I don't eat a lot of ramen, but I have to assume that this is premium ramen because the broth and accompaniments were really good! The pork was cooked perfectly, but I wish there was more! Less corn and more pork. But again, the broth was super flavorful and there was a good amount of spice. My friend got the ramen with kimchi and she said it was absolutely delicious and that the egg was cooked perfectly! My other friend enjoyed the bao. All in all, this place is good. The interior is super small so we did sit outside because we didn't want to wait for a table to open up. But our waiter was attentive and everything came out quickly. I would come back if I was craving ramen! But I don't think it's my new favorite spot, but good all around if this is what you are really in to!

This place is a gem for ramen in DC! I've tried the Spicy Miso Ramen, Spicy Tonkatsu Ramen, and the Gyoza (appetizer). Each dish was amazing. The noodles have the perfect bouncy texture that I love from ramen. The broth in the Spicy Miso and Spicy Tonkatsu ramens were both delicious, flavorful, and perfectly hit the spot! To be honest, I was worried that the gyoza may not be worth the high price, but I tried it anyways, and it was excellent! Each piece of gyoza is huge and packed with a lot of filling to really make it worth the high price tag. The decor in the waiting area is nice. If you come during a busy time in the winter, you may have to wait for a while to be seated because there aren't many seats indoors. The wait was worth it to me though because the food was so good!

I've never taken the time to really explore Adams Morgan. The traffic deters me but I see why there's so much traffic in the area. Great eats! My best friend & I went on a Friday evening. We were quickly seated. We didn't order any appetizers. I ordered the Chosun ramen. She got the Shoki bowl. There was no talking going on, just eating. It was so delicious. I can't stop thinking about it. The only thing we both agreed on is that our dishes could've been spicier. That's on us. You can choose your own spice levels. I will definitely be returning, SOON. The place was lively. This was a Friday like I said so the place was filled but not overwhelming. Music was playing, people were talking. It was just an all around good vibe to take in.

My friends and I came here for dinner after a day in the snow. We were craving hot soup and this ramen spot was perfect after a cold, snowy winter day in DC. It's small inside but we were seated pretty quickly in the upstairs level. Service was good and atmosphere was relaxed. I ordered the goji ramen and was really impressed! I love ramen and am pickier about ramen spots that I enjoy. The shoyu base was so savory and rich, well-seasoned and a slight spice kick in the aftertaste. They didn't skimp on the meat, which is something I find that ramen spots tend to do. The chashu was also not overly fatty. The portion of the ramen bowl was generous as well.

For the Adams Morgan area Sakuramen is definitely one of the best ramen spots, however in general it wasn't the best ramen I've had. I ordered the goji ramen which is a tonkotsu ramen and it was pretty standard. I do see myself going back to try some of the other ramen options they have. With ramen being the main menu item, theres a variety of broths and combinations that sound delicious and will probably surpass the goji ramen in flavor. Overall it's a good option if you're craving ramen in Adams Morgan! The restaurant itself is pretty casual so you'll have no issues just walking in.

Solid bowl of ramen. Pretty small venue and no reservations so bets to go at an off time to get a seat right away. Service of quick and food was great

Delicious ramen spot! My friend has been hyping this place up and I must say, it did not disappoint and lived up to the expectations! Firstly, their BAO buns were very delicious! I only tried the chashu buns and I'm excited to come back and try the other meat buns, pause. Secondly, I went ahead with their house ramen, the Sakuramen and it was so delicious!! You're able to choose a spice level as well. The staff ensured we were properly taken care of, and a huge special shoutout to the lovely owner! Unfortunately I don't recall her name, but we've had the honor of meeting her and personally thanking her. Once again, Arigato gozaimasu!

We ordered the Spicy Miso with the spice bomb and egg, along with the veggie ramen with spice bomb. The Spicy Miso was the clear winner--easily one of the most flavorful ramen bowls I've had, with just the right kick and incredible depth. The veggie ramen was also excellent and a great option for vegetarians. We also tried the gyoza, spring rolls, and Sapporo beer. For dessert, we ordered the black sesame ice cream, but the ramen portions were so generous that we were too full to finish it! Service was quick, attentive, and efficient. The atmosphere is exactly what you'd want from a Japanese ramen spot--casual, lively, and unassuming. The food felt authentic and the flavors really stood out. They also have an izakaya upstairs, which we unfortunately didn't get a chance to try. Definitely saving that for the next visit!

Let me start by saying I recently visited Daikaya on Monday, August 3, 2026, and unfortunately the…read moreservice that day was disappointing. I gave that particular visit 1 out of 5 stars. However, I also want to mention that Daikaya is one of my family's favorite ramen spots, so we were genuinely surprised by the experience because it has always been much better in the past. When we arrived, we were told that our entire party had to be present before we could be seated, which we understood. We also know that seating is first come, first served. In the past, we've been able to sit in a booth with two people, but this time we were informed that booths were reserved for parties of three or more. It was a little frustrating because the restaurant was slow at the time, and my wife politely explained that we would likely be finished before the dinner rush. Even so, we respected the policy and waited until a seat became available. I do want to give Terry a shoutout because he was very kind and professional. I explained that I couldn't sit at the bar due to my foot, and he was understanding. However, when he relayed that information to another employee, I immediately noticed a change in the other gentleman's body language and attitude. He seemed irritated about having to seat us. Once we were seated, the interaction only became more uncomfortable. He slammed our cups onto the table, and when I asked for a straw, he didn't hand it to me--he simply placed it down without saying much. There were several other small interactions throughout our meal that made us feel unwelcome. It reached the point where we decided we'd rather leave, so we flagged Terry down, asked for to-go containers, and requested the check. During our visit, I also noticed a party of four seat themselves and grab their own menus while both servers had their backs turned at the bar. When the same gentleman approached them, his demeanor was completely different. He was pleasant, took their order right away, and their food came out promptly. Watching that interaction made our experience feel even more disappointing. The food, thankfully, was excellent as always. That's one thing Daikaya continues to get right. I also noticed that none of the staff members we're used to seeing--who have always been warm, welcoming, and respectful--were working that day. Overall, this visit was a rare disappointment because the customer service simply wasn't up to the standard we've experienced over the years. While this particular experience deserves a low rating, I also want to acknowledge that every previous visit has been excellent. I'm hoping this was just an off day because Daikaya has consistently been one of our favorite places for ramen.

Not saying all restaurants have to be personable, but there was no moment of respite for the staff so the entire meal, no one checked on us and I wasn't even able to inquire about the missing items and just waited for it to come. The food though was delicious. No one had any issues about the taste of their meal. There was concern at the end of the meal when the staff couldn't remember where a colleague's credit card was. Service has to be 3 stars though. Our server said the gochujang mayo wasnt spicy, when gochujang is (it's got a mildly strong kick that quickly evens out/dissipates) so that's just incorrect to tell people who can't handle heat. More importantly, we were all done with desert at roughly 9pm and it wasn't until 9:40, despite multiple moments of eye contact from a few of us, that our server even came to our table to clear our plates. We'd all clearly been done, not even nibbling, for almost that whole time. In that time, other than his regular duties, our server seemed to do other idle things or "end of the evening" tasks, setting up other tables, stacking plates on them, etc. instead of checking on us. Again, a few of us made eye contact a couple times, which can indicate (along with none of us having touched our plates for 5-10 minutes) that we're done. Other plates had been cleared almost right away. We were also all left wanting for water at the end as no other staff came by to see if we needed more. So yeah, not thrilled about that. Also, it was weirdly a smidge too warm in Planta Queen tonight. I suspect the AC just wasn't on as strong because of the AQI in DC (on June 17, 2026) but it was noticeable.

My husband and I dined in for the first time today, and we were both very impressed with the atmosphere and friendly, attentive staff. Hayden was our server, and he showed exemplary hospitality skills. He made us feel welcome, checked in on us frequently without feeling overbearing, and made sure we knew the AYCE menu is double-sided. Speaking of, the AYCE is such a great deal! I used to live in Vegas, where AYCE sushi is very common. Unfortunately, for most of them, since the focus is on quantity, the quality suffers. This is not the case for Toryumon! Maybe it's because it isn't strictly an AYCE place. You can absolutely order items a-la-carte from their regular menu (as I had done previously for take-out). The items are exactly the same whether you order from the regular menu or the AYCE. Same quality, and, this is important, same size! Yes, you will receive a FULL-SIZED bowl of ramen if you order it from the AYCE menu. Not all of the menu items have descriptions, and I was surprised by some of them (not in a bad way, just wasn't what I was expecting), such as: The avocado salad. I was expecting it to be cubes/chunks of avocado tossed with a dressing. What came out was a lettuce salad with sliced avocado on top. The dressing was good, slightly sweet. It was a good salad, just not at all what I was expecting. The sweet potato sushi roll is served warm, the sweet potato is deep fried, and there is eel sauce on top. The sweet potato rolls I had other places were not fried, and served cold. I really enjoyed this one! Everything seemed very fresh, not a hint of wilting greens or brown avocado to be seen! I am so grateful to live right down the road from this amazing establishment. If you enjoy ramen, sushi, and other Japanese items, def give them a try! There are bathrooms available for guests. What my stars mean: 5 is outstanding, memorable, a place to write home about! A must-experience. Someplace I would love to recommend to tourists, and visit myself again and again. 4 is great, somewhere I'd love to return again and again. Back-up recommendation for tourists. 3 is good. A solid option if I am in the area. I may recommend to locals, but would probably leave it off my list of recommendations for tourists. 2 is ok, but only because it a great value, unique, and/or convenient. 1 means I would not return.
