SAD! DISGUSTING! PATHETIC! UNPROFESSIONAL! WORST SELF STORAGE EVER! While most businesses do not want to be called these things, CHICO U LOCK IT SELF STORAGE is different! Their business model centers around rudeness and overcharging. But wait! You may ask, "Isn't this bad for business?" Typically, you would be right but since you have very little choice and CHICO U LOCK IT recognizes this, they will fvck you in the a$$ then charge you for it! HAHA SUCKAH! This business also features these qualities: 1) SCARY homeless people at the gate. 2) The scent of tepid DIARREA in the halls. 3) LEAKY roof to DAMAGE your stuff 4) STEAL your money. Let's face it, it's difficult to run a business where the primary responsibility is reading words, signing your name, walking and turning a key but SOMEHOW, this rude manager seems to be able to do it! BRAVO! She doesn't let being ignorant or apathetic stop her from taking out the many, many, many regrets she has about her life out on her customers. Do you enjoy having an overweight oaf overcharge you? This place is for you! CHICO U LOCK IT SELF STORAGE 1) Does not comply with or honor their own policies. 2) Accuses customers of not complying with their policies. 3) Levies unjustifiable fees then threatens to send you to collections. It's so sad that humans are capable of so much yet these morons strive to be the absolute WORST at EVERYTHING except TAKING YOUR MONEY. I got a yelp account just so I could warn you to STAY AWAY! read more

WARNING: This place is more interested in money than decency. My mother was a hoarder, and filled 3 full sized storage units around town when she was forced to move out of her home. I filled out all the forms at the office with my mother, but made the mistake of having her sign it without putting my name on it also. 5 years ago, she became ill and I moved her into my home to become her caretaker. I had been able to clear out the other two storage units without any problems. By last November, I was half finished with the one at Chico U Lock It when they changed the gate number. And even though my name was on the joint account paying them, they said I needed power of attorney now to access the gate. I went and got that, because I needed a hospital mattress with raised sides out of the unit. Unfortunately, my mother took a turn for the worst (not helped by rolling out of bed three times), and passed away July 24. I went in with the power of attorney and then they said I needed to go to the court and pay for a different kind of paper. I told the manager to keep the crap in the storage and reversed the two months payment ($300.). There was nothing of any value left in the units, just 20 or more boxes of kids toys and stuffed animals I was going to distribute to needy kids and family services in honor of my mom. I will never use and will definitely discourage patronage of this facility. They are a joke. read more

I have to update on this now. The business has replied saying they would be willing to work with me if my girlfriend and I came in together to add myself to the lease. Well, when we did come in together, the same lady then rejected me because of "a bad review left on social media". Well, when my girlfriend went back in recording the conversation she then changed her excuse to "he verbally berated two females and used extreme cuss words and insults that can't be repeated behind the desk". This is entirely not true. And if she hasn't removed her reply to me I'll link a screenshot. She even offered to work with me after the first incident. Why would she offer this at all if I had verbally abused two women and made a scene of such magnitude? This woman is a liar, a downright liar. She has slandered my name and appropriate action will be taken. I now can only visit a storage unit containing my family's belonging when I have my girlfriend with me who works on opposite schedule. We are Camp Fire victims and have a lot of our belongings in storage. This woman would have it to where me and my son cannot access some basic life necessities such as clothing, for what reason.....a bad yelp review after being treated so rudely the first time. Please. And I honestly beg of you. Choose another storage. read more

I have rented 2 units over the last 3 to 4 years years. The property is clean as well as the units. The security is also great. Property access was good for me. Unit price and sizes are the best in the area. I know that there is female office staffer who is rude and working with her in the past has been both very challenging and frustrating especially when you live more than 500 miles away! Because I was late on a payment and didn't have anyone local to pay the cash on for the late fee in person and she wouldn't take payment over the phone When I asked her what I could do she had answer. Not helpful at all!! Mind you this was right before they were going to seize the unit. However I did speak with the manager the next day who was very helpful and took took the late over the phone. That being said, Jordan was there on move out day and he was very professional, polite, and personable. I was there moving my belongings from the smaller unit to the larger unit. Jordan waved the last 10 days of my unit closure, and yes you do have to give them a 30 day notice as noted on the contract you signed. It would be nice of them to change this policy however I understand the marketing purpose its financial advantageousness. read more

The one star is only for location convenience. The woman running the office (I believe her name is Lissette?) is bat crap crazy! She is the most incredibly rude person I have come across in a very long time, even if you try to be polite to her. Don't bother showing up there last minute as a previous review has said. She will call the cops on you and treat you like you are a problem, even though you are PAYING MONEY TO THEM for a service. I will be taking my business elsewhere. I also have a friend who is currently moving up here to Chico who needed a storage unit until they would be able to find a large enough place for all of their possessions. I have told them to stay far away from this place due to that front office psychopath. It seems the reviews have gone downhill fast in the past 1.5 years. I wonder when this lady was hired and if that has any correlation to the recent customer treatment? Management might want to look into that and take these reviews seriously, as word travels fast in a small town like this and I would bet that these reviews will continue until something is changed drastically. In short, I would NEVER recommend taking your business here. Period. Vinnie. read more

Everyone at Chico U lock It is great to work with, they are very patient and understanding when you have a late payment. The business I work for has had a storage unit here for about 3 years and we have had no issues with thefts. It's in a great location, very close to everything and is very clean. We frequent the storage unit about once a week and my employees feel very comfortable going. You could not ask for a better price, the units are very clean and easy to get to. I would recommend them to anyone needing to store belongings, whether it's for a short time or even for a long period of time. This is the first time the company I work for has needed storage and from the service we have been given over the last 3 years, we will not be going anywhere else. I usually pay online and it's very easy and quick, which is nice, in the past I have forgotten to mail in a check, so the online capability is nice. read more

Transitioning between houses and cities was a stressful ordeal. What was not stressful was Chico U Lock It. I read the reviews, but took a chance and called about a unit and I'm glad I did. The manager and her staff were welcoming and accommodating from start to finish, they made it easy. While I had to wait a few days for the right size unit to open up, Lisa assured I'd have a unit and that they'd take care of us, they did. When moving out day came, there were a lot of us and everything went smoothly. I saw Lisa the other day in passing at the grocery store and she was kind enough to ask how we were enjoying our new home and Chico. Not everyone would take the time, much less remember someone's name after a business transaction had ended. This is why I would recommend Chico U Lock It to anyone needing storage. read more

I unfortunately found myself in a storage crisis at the beginning of December & U-Lock-It self storage was able to accommodate my immediate need for storage. Based off the items I described, the manager was able to give me a size that would fit all my items. She sure knows her storage lockers as all my stuff fit perfectly! She thoroughly explained everything to me, helped me find a lock for my unit & even walked me over to where my unit was located. One night, while I was stopping by to pick up a few things, I couldn't get the gate to open ( turns out there's a trick to the darn thing.) The manager stopped what she was doing to come to the door after hours & explain the trick is to head straight at it. If I ever find myself in a storage crisis again, I know exactly where I'm going. read more

I read the one star listings and the ones below that didn't make Yelp's cut. Here's my review. I've been here three years and have noticed a difference - for the better. The grounds are well kept and reflect the service within the last year. Every time I come, there are improvements being made, even coffee of the office. I was on the verge of moving out last year because of the rougher characters and nothing being done about my concerns. That changed in the spring when my concerns were addressed and everything seemed to start changing. Perhaps the reviews below mine have been unhappy with the changes and rules being followed. For me, it makes me feel safe having my belongings in my space at Chico U Lock It. read more

I've been renting a storage unit here for just over 4 years. We have had zero problems with the staff, pests or their policies. Chico U Lock It's policies re: late payments, access to the unit, 30 day cancelation notices, liability for damages to your property, etc are all *identical* to the 4 other storage facilities we've used during the past 20 years (both for my husband's work needs and our personal storage). Read your contract, ask questions if you don't understand something, get insurance for your belongings, make sure they are packed properly and pay your rent on time to avoid problems. The only thing I'd change would be longer gate hours and for them to add Sunday office hours again. read more

I've used this facility for a number of years and have been very happy with them. The staff is polite, friendly, understanding and kind. A while back I needed to park my RV there temporarily and one night it was extremely windy and apparently the wind blew part of the RV cover off of the RV. They called me immediately to notify me and were helpful with the process considering I had moved out of the area. I truly appreciated their attention to detail as many other places may not even have noticed or called. The prices are great and the place is clean and convenient. I highly recommend them and disagree with the unfavorable reviews. Robert & Sasha read more

I was pleased with the storage facility. We only needed it for less than 2 months as we were in between moving, but the facility was always clean and well-maintained. Lisette (I believe that is the name) was always very friendly and helpful. My only issue was when I set up the lease, I had paid for a lock and was told it would be in the unit for us to use when we dropped off our belongings. I was bummed when we got there and there was no lock, which created another errand on a hot day, but they were very apologetic and refunded the money I had paid for the lock. I would definitely recommend this storage facility. read more

I rented space #765 for over a year and my storage was secure and the property appeared to be kept clean every time I entered. I was happy the day I dropped in with no reservation and they had a unit for me to rent. I have been traveling and had a very short window of time to remove my property and end the rental agreement. Employee Jordan was very kind by telling me the final invoice without a thirty day notice will be excused if I would take the time to post a Yelp review. Overall I would recommend Chico -U- Lock. Thank you, D. Johnson read more

Chico U Lock storage came through for us when we needed it the most. Moving into the town of Paradise after the CampFire event was challenging. Storage everywhere was packed and the closest was Chico. We settled on a bigger unit than we "needed" because it was the only thing available. We were so glad we chose U Lock It, Lysette the manager was so nice to us and even helped us orient to the new area and pointed out some nice places to shop. It was a great year for us in relief work and getting this storage was a big part of the move. read more

I had nothing but a positive experience renting from this storage facility. I was accommodated immediately when I needed to upgrade the size of my unit and they gave me ample time to move my items within the complex. They are located in a discrete area which made me feel safe about storing here. They also have a wonderful rental grace period that had saved me more than once from being late on my payment. Lisa in the office is fantastic and completely helpful. I would recommend this facility to anyone. read more

I highly recommend this storage facility. Not only is Chico U-Lock-It one of the only storage facilities in the area who actually bothers answering their phone, they quickly helped me out when I needed a storage unit last minute. Lisette got me set up without any hassles and I was loading my stuff into my new storage unit an hour after I called them. Thank you Lisette for being so efficient, professional, and accommodating! I will be sure to use your facility again in the future when needed. read more

Great place to store your things and convenient location right off the freeway. My family has had a unit there for 8 years and they continue to improve their security of the facility. I feel very safe having my belongings there and there maintenance team is wonderful. The manager is on top of things and I can call at any time to see where my account is at. I use auto bill pay which makes my life so much easier, I don't have to think about calling every month. read more

The staff at this facility is very helpful. I was in the middle of moving and got a 10x20 only to find out it was too small after loading a significant amount of my things into it already. They let me transfer straight over to a slightly larger unit that was close to the original unit. They also gave me a little extra time to get into the new unit, and the transfer process was quick and easy. I will definitely recommend to family and friends! read more

I was in desperate need of a storage unit about a year ago and was thrilled when they had an open unit the size I needed. I ended up with an inside unit, which was new to me. The hallways were always clean and well lit. Because I had an inside unit I would check in at the office to pick up the key. Every single experience I had with staff was warm, friendly and helpful. I would recommend storing your items here and will miss my monthly check-ins. read more
