Second time in a row that I had difficulty at this location. The first time I did not receive my entire order, even though I tried to review it with the staff at pick. When I got home I realized that the order was incomplete and returned where I was told by two employees, loudly and rudely that it was my fault that the order was incomplete. Giving it the benefit of doubt, I tried this location again, this time I waited a seeming long period of time for my order. During this time another customer had difficulty with his order, which resulted in half the staff coming off the " order processing" line and " yelling" about his order. When I finally got my order, it was once again incomplete, when I pointed this out, the staff was loud and rude. I would also like management to look into appropriate mask usage at this location. I had Chicken Shack for the first time last weekend. Yes, for the first time. EVER. I have to say that I was a tad disappointed... The pieces of chicken were really small. Like, all 6 people who I was feeding agreed they were small. Granted, the chicken was really tasty, but the pieces were small and I personally could've eaten three breasts just to feel full. The shack potatoes WERE delicious, although I also found that portion a tad small. We ordered the 16 piece meal which came with two sides, and there was enough potatoes for everyone to have one small helping, and one person had seconds. They were buttery and delicious though. The cole slaw was bad though - it was basically "minced" and watery. Super-fine chopped slaw. The loud joking and talking of the three young employees was a little annoying, but I suppose we can't expect them to be silent while we wait. The pre-teen girl who walked up to the entrance door and proceeded to "whip her hair back and forth" for no apparent reason was entertaining, however, I don't think she has any affiliation with Chicken Shack. Every time I order from this place, the order gets messed up and there is usually a long wait no matter how much earlier I call in my order. This time, i ordered online so there were no mix ups on the order. I also placed the order about 18hours in advance because we had guests coming for dinner and they were in a bit of a rush. My credit card was processed in the morning and when my husband went to pick it up, nothing was ready. They said that was because they were making us a fresh order which of course asked, what had they planned to sell us?! Old food? He asked them to make sure we had everything we paid for and they assured him we had everything. When he got all the way home, we discovered we were shorted 24pieces of chicken! Very dry, dark, overcooked chicken. Broasted potatoes were swimming in butter even though we ordered no butter. We paid for barbecue sauce packets but they were not in the bag. We got no silverware and no napkins. We tried placing the order by phone but we had to call five or six times to get through. The website wouldn't allow us to order. I waited in line in store to pick order up and they were very unorganized so I waited extra long and had to repeat my name multiple times. Finally they found my order sitting on the counter with other orders. No wonder the food was cold. They told me on the phone the order would be ready in 35 minutes plus about 15 waiting in store, that chicken was not hot or even warm. It's chicken shack what's not to like! The food is always good. The staff is always friendly. The store is always clean. I've always received good service and accuracy with take out. I love it but think it's a little expensive. A rib snack (4 bones) and chicken bite (6 pieces) snack was $25. The prices won't keep me from returning though lol. read more

I usually come to this location because of the size and freshness of the chicken bites. I left a awesome review last summer because of this locations chicken bites that my husband and I enjoy every Friday night. This past Friday we was very dissapointed with our bites and when we called to complain Emily stated that the recipe had changed and that there was nothing that could be done. Chicken shack not cheap by any means and we don't mind paying, but I feel we was ripped off with our bites being hard, salty, dry and tiny. If this is what you decided to replace your chicken bites with you have lost a valued weekly customer who drove from Sterling Heights to Clawson just for this location chicken Bites. Our neighbors had started coming to this location when we told them about how delicious the food was. I feel that in light of an event that has just taken place, I must add to my deceivingly calm prior review of the Shack. It's about the BBQ sauce, endearingly referred to in my house as simply "The Q," as in, "Pass the Q." Only one sauce has ever rivaled this liquid gold, and in the advent of glorious T-Bird's (Troy), Cook's sauce is the firm king of my fridge door. You see, just now, when I returned home with my steamy Tender Lunch Combination wafting promises of a careless high into the air, I was stricken with grief to find my bottle had toppled and spilled like the Exxon Valdez. So distraught I was that my meal would be irreparably affected that though I was alone in the kitchen, I cried "Oh NO!" out loud 3 separate times as I seriously contemplated scooping up the coagulated puddle onto a plate. Instead I made do with the packet provided with my lunch, and used my pinkie to scrape the slowly sliding coating on the bottle walls through the impossibly tiny opening. I confess here that I was reduced to a crazed yaffling pig, desperate to engineer some type of dispenser that would allow you last precious drops of sauce (and prevent such torture for future generations), because no review could express this love like the telling of this tale. RIP Cook's sauce, 'till we meet again. P.S. I'm no Michael J. Fox, but I will tell you that the secret to my success is this aforementioned lunch combination. Being a chicken boob fan with only the occasional wander to a worthy wing, this one gets you all white meat without the extra charge. Plus, it already comes with a packet of sauce, which is obviously worth a lot to me. The broasted potatoes are perfectly melty, but if you like 'em crunchier, ask for them well done like I do and there'll be no room for...well anything unless you undo your belt buckle. Then again, Chicken Shack fingers and potatoes aren't like any traditional chicken stick. These things are amazing. That is not hyperbole. So my wife orders online when I leave work thinking our food will be ready when I get there but they hadn't even started it so I wait 10 minutes. Paid $37 for 2 combo meals and 6 piece nugget meal. When we open the dinners at home we found some of the smallest pieces of meat I've ever seen, a store bought biscuit and maybe 2 tablespoons of coleslaw. The chicken was good but so small it wasn't satisfying, ribs were very plain. We liked the nuggets best and had to add some salad we had around the house to make a meal. For $37 we could have eaten at a nice chain restaurant including beer and had more food and better service. Needless to say, not going back. read more

Okay. I love fried chicken. You can have your broasted chicken. You healthy people can have your baked chicken. Okay, fine. I'm with you on a really good roasted chicken. Still, I love fried chicken. I was introduced to the Chicken Shack chain after a friend of mine told me about it. The location in question for my man, was the Woodward Ave. location just south of 13 Mile Road. Since he introduced me to the place several years ago, I've been digging The Shack. The Clawson 14 Mile Road location is my favorite. That's just because of convenience and proximity. There is a fair amount of seating, which is attractive to me. I'd rather eat the chicken at the restaurant when it's fresh. Sure, I'll take out every now and then, but there's something about eating it in situ. It's so juicy. The meat is so flavorful that I have to believe that a brine is involved somewhere in the process. I'm not usually one for a chicken breast. I'm a dark meat sort of guy, because I just find chicken breasts so devoid of moisture and flavor compared to dark meat. It's not the case here. Remarkably, even the breasts are juicy. Crispy, tasty, not overly breaded, the chicken's always so perfect to me here. It's probably my favorite fried chicken in town with the possible exception of Zingerman's Roadhouse. Some friends of mine have reviewed The Shack. So, I figured I'd give The Shack my own props for doing such a darn good job filling my belly. I don't know why, but my belly is bottomless for their chicken. Just don't distract me with those lovely broasted potatoes. Other items that I have enjoyed at The Shack are their little wraps, the smelt, the ribs, and the cole slaw. Man, now that I think about The Shack, I'm salivating! I agree with Vicki A. that something went missing after the shift to making things free of trans fats. To me, it's 98% of what it once was in terms of taste, but I love it still. read more

I am rating my experience with two stars because of the service; if not for friendly staff I'd be leaving only one. I ordered two chicken sandwiches, as my husband and I have been craving some deep fried, greasy goodness (we rarely eat fried foods). I am sad to say this was not what we'd been craving! This is awesome chicken. So juicy and delicious. Melts in your mouth and falls off the bone good. Prices are very reasonable. They have dinners for as low as 6.99. That includes side and a roll. It looks like a run-down, crappy place, but the food here surprised me. I stopped in for a Saturday lunch with friends and got an approx. $7 combo that included chicken tender bites, fries, and a drink. The food was ready in only a few minutes and both the chicken and the fries were really good - as good as I'd expect from any other fast food place. It's not fancy inside or out, and the menu selection is limited (it's almost all varieties of chicken and potatoes or fries), but I'll definitely be going back. read more

I do work at chicken shack so seeing some of these cruel reviews makes me cringe. If I am being honest, we do have our mess ups and our downs, but not everytime are we perfect.. but we do almost everything in our power to accommodate our mess ups. As far as good quality goes, we normally do drop everything to order. we get complaints about the breast being dry, but they are the biggest pieces of chicken and when the inside is pink we have to drop it longer causing it to get dry. So unfortunately it's either raw or dry chicken when it comes to the big breast. Another thing I'd like to add is that the butter product we use, is NOT oil with seasoning, nor is it garlic. It just butter with salt and pepper. We do not use the chicken and fish in the same grease and change it frequently. Hopefully my insight can improve others visual on coming in, because we do try our best and want everyone happy. Been a Chicken Shack customer 35 years , always great food and service. Last Friday had the worst service ever. Walked in placed a simple order , 2 cod dinners and a 3.99 cole slaw. They said about 10 minute wait. No problem. 30 minutes later after watching customers receive their orders long after they had ordered at the counter like l did, l approached the counter and asked about my order. The lady asked to see my receipt, she took it and l guess they then started to cook it. Upon receiving the order about 10 minutes later with no explanation of what happened l checked my bag before leaving.... no cole slaw. Returning to the counter again explaining about the cole slaw they asked to see my receipt again. I explained that the other lady had taken my receipt to get the order started that must have been "lost". I was treated like l was running some type of cole slaw scam. Eventually received cole slaw. Pre-orderd a pan of wings for our small family super bowl party. Arrived at the appointed time, paid for the chicken and after waiting 15 minutes was told there were no more wings. Employee tried to get me to go away by offering me a free side of potatoes - really! Initially refused to get the manager. I insisted, she came out, was equally rude and in response to my frustrated explanation that I had pre-ordered, pre-paid and had waited 15 minutes before being told there were no wings, responded "we will give you your money back!", like she was doing me a favor.
