Came here for trivia for the first time in a while. We used to come regularly but the food was always mediocre so we went to other spots, but we saw online they revamped their menu so we figured we'd give it a try. Let's just say they definitely improved ! We got an order of chips and their seasonal salsa, which was roasted red pepper, and it was very flavorful and delicious. I got a hot honey burrito with beans and rice and my gf got birria tacos. Also not pictured is a marg. Hot honey burrito was a lot of food! The rice is okay, a little bland and clumps together, unlike traditional Mexican fluffy rice. Refried beans are fine. Burrito is very filled and was super sweet from the hot honey which made it a bit hard to finish, but definitely enough food, and I probably could have eaten half. Birria tacos were delish and the consumé was super rich. Margs come in different flavors but they all kinda taste the same to me so far, and they're strong. Maybe a bit too strong? Depends what your goal is with them. Service was good, a little slow for us being at the bar, but nothing to be concerned about. Gross. Don't waste your money. On top of it all the waiter was a smart ass! Sat outside the bees were a bit annoying but it was too cold inside. I asked the waiter which beans did the veggie nachos have. He told me "whatever the menu says" I told him it says "beans" he then proceeded to tell me it was black beans. I received my dish started eating a sat that it was pinto beans. I was furious!! He did take it off my bill. I will never patronize this establishment ever again. Customer service is everything to me and can make a dining experience awful especially when n the food isn't good. The frozen coffee drink wasn't even mid. We used to come here semi frequently for their trivia on Tuesdays but were pretty unimpressed with the tacos and stopped coming eventually. BUT we saw that they recently refreshed their menu and decided to give them another try and ordered some different options off of the menu and were really impressed this time around. The seasonal salsa was a roasted red pepper which was a great start to our meal, we also got some $5 house margs which are super strong and refreshing. I had the birria tacos and I thought they were really good! The meat was super tender and the consommé was really flavorful and well seasoned, I've had some other places that were pretty watery. We sat at the bar and our bartender was super friendly and the food came out so fast we were pleasantly surprised! And trivia is always a blast with Pajama Dan. read more

I read a few negatives and became concerned that the place was slipping from just a couple years ago. That's when we logged a dozen visits or so and truly enjoyed every one.. A bit of a surprise to find the reviewers dead accurate, without exaggeration. The staff here tend to not be friendly, they are not immediate to greet you, service in general is slow. Food to table took a very long time. The food quality was pretty good but a far cry from farm to fork. Not the greatest tacos and southern style that we'd remembered. The beers and cocktails were fine. The whiskeys being the highlight. In a way, we're happy this happened as we have a small conference to set up with some out-of-towers and feel this would reflect poorly on our office. Decided to try this place out and liked that we were able to sit outside and enjoy the view of main street. Our server was friendly and attentive. They had a laminated menu where you could pick flour or corn for your tacos. The chips were pretty good but the salsa was a bit disappointing. Also ordered the ghost pepper margarita and it came in a short glass and did not have much spice. The birra quesadilla was pretty good though the consome was strong with cinnamon. The tacos were better with the corn shells were than the flour. The bang bang shrimp was probably the best. The blackened fish looked good but lack flavor. The chicken taco was also just ok. Kind of shocked by the glowing reviews based off of the food we had yesterday. We came for happy hour and if you're a drinker they have some good deals but for food they only offer 1/2 off chips and guac or chips and queso. We each ordered one taco and a bowl- I had the beer battered fish taco and it was actually really good! I was shocked to see they didn't have a taco meal where you pick 2-3 tacos and it comes with beans and rice like most places. $5 a taco seems kind of crazy to order A La carte and not have any sides with it. My friend ordered the potato and fried avocado taco and enjoyed it. I also had the shrimp bowl and it was absolutely terrible. The "street corn" was just canned corn- no char on it, no seasoning, literally nothing besides the kernel. The rice was a pile of mush, an absolute embarrassment for rice or "Spanish rice" not one grain was able to isolated as it was a paste. The only saving grace on the bowl was the chipotle sauce. At the end we asked for a side of that sauce to go to give the food some flavor and we were charged $2 for a baby cup not even filled half way. My friends bowl was only slightly better with the chicken but same complaints about lack of overall flavor and mushy rice. Service was fine and so was the interior but I don't think I'd ever be back as the food was terrible. Maybe tacos or drinks are the way to here? read more

We went there for their trivia Tuesday they host from 8-10pm every week.. this was probably the best trivia experience I've had since the whole bar is playing.. there were about 20-22 teams.. we are going there again today to try on more food.. most of their tacos are 5$ each and they're not the best but definitely worth trying different variety as I'm yet to find my favorite.. Not a lot of seating place they have and gets a bit noisy too, also have to make a reservation atleast on the days they're hosting special events coz it fills up so fast! read more

Cool spot in downtown Clawson. They put a twist on tacos here, they are different and not the normal Mexican street style tacos, a refreshing diversion from the normal street tacos. They have a wide selection of diverse beers in the cooler, I am thankful for this, some bars only carry the lawnmower style beer selection of American mass produced beers... While the food has always been good, the service is something to be desired. Our server, Tayler, just liked to hang out in the back area and talk to the other server. How about keeping an eye on your tables?? We ordered another beer, which was just a bottled beer, and waited forever! My husband finally walked up to the back room and asked Tayler what was taking so long. All she said was "I put it in". When we got our bill, we noticed a service charge on there. We asked what this was, and were told it was a charge for paying with credit card. We had planned to pay in cash. Tayler had the charge removed, but we wondered how many people don't even bother to look that close at their bills, and automatically pay this charge. When we left we spoke to the manager and expressed our issues. She said the service charge is standard practice. We then told her all the restaurants in downtown Clawson that do not do this. And even the few restaurants outside of Clawson that do have this practice, their bill states cash price and credit price. They do not automatically add a service charge. All she said was she would tell "him". Who is "him"?? We used to go to Whiskey Taco fairly often, unfortunately until things change, I don't think we will be back. read more

Okay, but not fantastic. My first impression was really bad as some woman (not my server) came up and immediately berated me for "seating myself". I informed her there was a sign up front that said to seat yourself. Of course she just looked mad I called her out on her BS and then gave me the most unconvincing "oh, sorry, didn't realize" in response. Our actual server, super nice. Me and my friend each got tacos, which were supposed to be on happy hour special. We had to remind our server about it. We started with chips and salsa; the salsa was definitely from a jar and not homemade but it was fine. I got the chimchurri steak and I loved the sauce, but the steak was a bit over cooked for my personal liking. The rock and the carnitas taco was by far my favorite. The "soft crunchy soft chicken" was okay. Drinks were good. I love the peanut butter old fashioned which I had in the past and wanted to come back to try the food. It was pretty obvious they wanted us out, since our server threw the check down and didn't ask if we wanted anything else. Overall, I'm not impressed. Visited here recently, & mostly unimpressed. Is it a restaurant? Is it a bar? Bar with food, I think. We ordered chips & queso, which was good but VERY spicy. Chips are the thicker type of tortilla chips. We each ordered a couple of tacos. I got the steak with chimichurri--very little steak & grisly-chewy. Yuck. The other was the Asian chicken, which was pretty good. It's pieces of fried chicken & they were so fried, they were hard to chew. Husband had the Rock & Rye, a slow cooked pork, which he said was delicious. He also had the Asian Chicken. I'm so happy I stumbled upon this place! It definitely exceeded expectations and was a fantastic experience. Very friendly and attentive service. I loved the food!! Every bite was packed full of flavor. Every bite was full of the freshest ingredients and I could taste the homemade touch. Fresh and spicy salsas. I enjoyed the homemade chips and red salsa given to us when we sat down, and I thoroughly enjoyed my cheese enchiladas, topped with salsa verde. The sides of rice and beans were top notch too. The rice had excellent flavor and the beans were creamy and topped with cheese. My friend really liked her birria tacos too. I had a yummy cocktail called "I Carried A Watermelon", which was a rum cocktail with watermelon purée and topped with fresh mint. Excellent cocktail and wine list. I was also happy to see that Detroit City Distillery Whiskey was featured here too. I'm a big fan. I was plenty full but I couldn't resist their homemade churros for dessert! Wow!! So good! There are two dining rooms and a bar area too. Large free parking lot in the back. This restaurant also has a whiskey society that hosts monthly events and I'm planning on joining. Went to this establishment instead of my usual place across the street. Sat at the bar for 30 minutes. Bobby the bartender was very inattentive to me. Me only. She was friendly and attentive to everyone but me. She gave me an order card to Complete for my taco order-she never came back- she walked past me numerous times. When I asked for my bill for my 1 drink -she gave me ATTITUDE-I wanted to try their tacos but was so turned off by her attitude I simply paid for my drink , tipped $7 on a $13 cocktail and left. I was highly disappointed. I don't like to jump to conclusions as to why folks are rude for no apparent reason ....but she was rude to me and me only. read more

As I was leaving this establishment I proceeded to get up from the booth. The cushion was not attached and slid out with me. To catch my fall I grabbed the table and the table was not secured to the floor. The table came down with me. When I hit the ground the beer, salsa and water landed all over me. The owner came over promptly and told me we could leave and he'd clean it up. He never asked if I was ok and did not offer a towel so I could clean myself up. I emailed him and he said he quickly responded to shoo me out the door so other guests would not get cut on broken glass. The quick NON response for help only to get me out the door to added to my embarrassment and humiliation. The place was DIRTY and the service was VERY SLOW. WTF is a solid neighborhood bar. I love that they're so engaged with the community, and that they come out to sell margs when there are movies in the street, etc. Their margs are great, bartenders are great, but most often I get margs to go because I don't love being in the space. It's got a little bit of a chaotic vibe, and is usually pretty loud. I do frequent the patio in the summer, but it is on a busy road so not the most chill vibes? Biggest down side is that the table service is hit or miss. We came close to kitchen-last-call one night and had a super weird interaction with a server who (first of all sat down at our table un-invited .. we didn't know him) and *kinda* said the kitchen was closing, but then let us order, but was weird about it. First time here with a friend. I got the birria tacos and she got the fried avocado tacos. We also got chips & salsa which was just ok, the chips had uneven salt on them, so one bite might be plain, and the next was like eating a spoonful of salt. I ordered a side of rice & beans with my tacos. The birria tacos were pretty good, but either the dipping sauce or the tacos were a bit too spicy for me. My mouth was on fire - I don't enjoy that. I've never had birria tacos that spicy before, so it was hard to eat them, I didn't finish. The beans and rice were a disappointment - the beans were probably canned and just heated up, then they put a few sprinkles of cheese on top. The rice was flavorless, I mean flavorless. Even though it was reddish in color I couldn't taste anything - it was actually worse then just eating plain white rice. So - I'd probably go again just because it's super close to my house, but I'd skip the chips & salsa and try and different type of taco or something else and hope things are better next time. read more

If you are looking for a place to get tacos and a cold beer, this is the place. I would not say that the tacos are OMG the best I ever had, but they are very good. This place gets busy, and it gets a little loud. It's definitely a casual dining experience. I've been here a couple times now and service is good however their kitchen is small and they use it as an excuse sometimes if you have to wait. The menus pretty self-explanatory and pretty simple to navigate. Give it a try and make your own decision. read more

You receive an order sheet and place your order by checking the items you want with qty., kind of like ordering sushi but with ability to choose what you want in your tacos, burritos, enchiladas and the type of taco wrapping-flour, corn, lettuce. Drink menu is also just as extensive if not more. If you are a whiskey aficionado then this is a place for you This is pretty good Tex mex and portions were filling. Definitely has fresh ingredients. Ground beef chimichanga was very delicious as was the fried avocado and bang bang shrimp. The slaw and pickled onions along with the sauce they add on make the tacos complete, tasty and filling. I thought the fresh guacamole & queso were good. (I wouldn't bother with the salsa & regular guacamole.) Chips were nicely salted & crisp, a little on the thicker side but it made them puffy & flakey. Rock 'n rye taco was good. I think the battered fried onions on top were homemade & delish! WTF is a place a frequent because the food is tasty and they always have something going on. There is lots of space and they generally have some activity happening whether it's trivia, karaoke or live music. They had a painting event when I visited which I didn't participate in but it looked fun. Brunch was delicious! The chicken and waffle taco is going to be a go to! read more

Horrible service from the manager. I order so much from this restaurant and 75% of the time it's crap. 25% of the time it's good. This was one week ago Sunday and if you look to the right, you can see just how much grease one taco is. If you look to the left, you can see that the beans were basically watery and all over my food. I did clean it up to make it look a little decent, but it's still in my opinion-looks like junk. I had a horrible interaction via Facebook messenger today with the manager who thinks that he helped me out so much by giving me or should I say by actually letting me get $20 off my order that I was promised from the time before. Also, I tip very well, whether I'm in the restaurant or I get delivery. I was then accused by this manager, saying that I "never "tip". That I don't tip the server or the delivery person. I don't know if I'm supposed to tip the server when I order over the phone, but I've never heard of such a thing. I do remember one of the delivery drivers telling me that if I paid credit card and put a tip on the credit card that the driver would not get the tip and the server would. I find that disgusting and that is now why I always pay cash. I pay cash for all my meals because in my opinion, it helps out small businesses to use cash instead of credit cards. I have never tipped under 25% when I've eaten in the restaurant and I've always given the delivery drivers $10 or more for my meals. I don't think that's a bad tip for someone who has to drive 2.5 miles to my home. I'm so appalled by the way I was treated that they lost a customer who spends an easy $300 if not more a month at this restaurant. I remember when it first opened during the end of Covid and ordering a $12 shot of patron only to get a five day old lemon with my shot. I wasn't too happy, but I didn't complain because I ended up having a nice time and the people that worked there were pretty decent. Oh yeah, I gave him a big tip, but according to Mr. manager, I just am so cheap. I don't tip anyone. I've gone there many times for happy hour and I feel that I've tipped extremely appropriate. Whenever I've eaten there, I tip well. Whenever I order food that is messed up 50% of the time I still tip very well. To be told by this manager that I don't tip well is not only offensive, but it's a bold face lie. they've lost a customer and I'm sure they don't care but it is what it is. I don't expect multiple meals for free as over the past three years. I've received $20 off my order for them totally screwing my food up. I was told that they're going to look into better ways of storing their food for delivery or carry out. That might work since a few times I ordered the taco grease was all over my vegetarian tacos, but there should not be that much grease on a freaking beef taco. I mean the grease is so awful. I can't even explain it. FYI - when I received this meal, the gentleman who delivered it last Sunday had a very cute sweater on and I said oh your sweater is fabulous. He then handed me my food and went to leave and told me to have a great day. I had hadn't paid him for the food. I could've been a total jerk and got away with $55 and free food but instead I mentioned to him that I owe him money plus I threw another $10 tip on. But, apparently I'm just too cheap when it comes to tipping out people at this restaurant. Even my mother and my friends ask me why I tipped so much. I work in a business that I rely on tips so I am very cognizant of tipping well. To the point where I over tip. They lost a three-year customer and they really need to learn some customer service skills because the BS I've heard is just gross. read more

The server told me that everything that they serve has a little spice to it, because of the marinade that they use for the meat. I wish that I would have know that before coming to the restaurant. I ordered the chicken parmesan taco, fajita taco and soft crunchy soft chicken and they were all too spicy for me. The guacamole was the only thing that I was able to eat. (Queso was also spicy.) Margaritas were cheap and strong. They had live music when we visited but it was really loud so we asked to be seated in the back so that we'd be able to have a conversation. read more
