When a restaurant has been open since 1956, you know it's worth it to become a regular customer. The only reason I don't eat Chicken Shack monthly is because the locations aren't close to my home or work. I came here to Yelp that Chicken Shack makes the absolute best chicken tenders in the state! The boasted, deliciously buttered potatoes are yummy as well. I never order anything else. (creature of habit, I guess) I also like their corn as well. Oh, get the honey mustard for your tenders. It's great. My favorite item on the menu, however, are the fried mushrooms. Battered, not breaded, they are perfection. My favorite location is on Woodward, but I haven't visited one that I don't like.

Grabbed two bite size buckets of chicken. The meat comes from their chicken tender meat. The meat is tender and tasty. Only was able to get 3 small sauces for each bucket. Each bucket costs $24.99 for 40 bite size pieces. It's a fair price. Total was $52.98. Service is always quick. My husband and I like it in a pinch. We could easily share a bucket or eat one each. :)

I really wanted to love this place. I had heard so many great things about this iconic place, so I am very disappointed to have to report on my less than positive experience. Before I give my review, here is a current report for informational purposes for those who are visiting during covid...if you would like to order from this restaurant, they only except credit cards, no cash, and only let three customers in at a time. This does not effect my personal review, but might help others for planning purposes. I did not go in to the restaurant, so I have no report on the individuals working here. But when we returned home, the way the food was packed ruined a lot of the food. The heavy items were placed at the top, so the smaller packages opened up and spilled on the bottom of the bag. I ordered and was charged for a few of BBQ sauces, but they only placed one in the bag. I also ordered ranch. The tops were not placed on securely and spilled all over the bottom of the bag, seeping into the food, especially the food that spilled all over the inside of the bag. I would think a carry-out only restaurant would have a decent way of packing food to travel back home, but that was not the case for us. There were fried mushrooms everywhere! The ranch got all over the containers and seeped inside some of the packaging. Since it would not have been productive, I did not call about the missing sauces and the spilled food, so I have no comment on their reaction, but in reading the other comments, it may not have been resolved in a positive manner. It was not really worth a phone call at this point. After cleaning up the mess, I was finally able to taste the food. I was severely disappointed! The chicken was both too greasy, fatty and rubbery, but also a bit dry. The chicken also tasted like fish. Perhaps it was fried in the same place as their fish orders. It left a bad aftertaste. The fried mushrooms were so over fried, that the batter was tough, and the mushrooms had little flavor. The shack potatoes had little seasoning and a film of grease and oil on the bottom of the container which also spilled everywhere. The fries look good in the pictures, but did not taste very fresh. The only item I enjoyed was the ranch that made it back home and did not spill all over the place. I felt like I had wasted time, money, and a meal coming here. I do have my favorite chicken carry-out, which I will go back to even though it is further away. Chicken Shake is opening a new location closer to me, but I doubt I will try it. If my family does, then I will assess that location as well. Oh well, it was a complete miss!

Y'all got me fuked up this shi taste like straight bs. Place was dirty Af soda machine was flat food took a half hour to make. I 10/10 do not recommend eatting this bs unless u want to have a fuked up day.

Their brosted chicken is so good... I stopped by for lunch the other day and had their chicken chunks lunch with there potatoes, coleslaw and a roll which I enjoyed. The lunch menu is confusing and not user friendly so I just guessed. The restaurant is very small inside so you have to eat at a small counter around the windows. The bathroom is in a weird spot. Food was so good but the restaurant leaves some to be desired.

Well that was a $25 disappointment. The ribs are definitely not the same as they used to be, lacking meat And Slightly over done.

No they do not. And I would recommend calling ahead because they get very busy and cook everything fresh to order

I ordered the Mediterranean skillet, lemon pancakes, and a side of biscuits and gravy. Yes, this was a heavy breakfast! The Mediterranean skillet had plenty of feta, which I LOVED but it was dry overall. There was no sauce to really bring everything together. I even got eggs over medium and the egg yolk did not add much creaminess. It was good, just not my favorite thing I've eaten. The lemon pancakes were absolutely unreal. Sooo fluffy and the cream cheese frosting was incredible. I would 100% recommend them. I also tried a side of biscuits and gravy. The biscuit was very thick, which was not my favorite, but the gravy itself was amazing, but it's the white super peppery kind, which I know is not everybody's favorite! Again, just kind of dry, even with the gravy. The service was good, and for a Saturday around 11 AM, the 20 minute wait was totally reasonable. I would definitely come back, just probably not for the skillet next time.

Originally I had 6 pieces of meat in the meal but I thankfully checked my bag as directed to on the signs. I inquired and the container was filled with what I should have gotten as a dinner. Maybe the staff member was new that initial did my order. They were polite. More than 1/2 was tough, some even so much not edible. Disappointing because I really wanted some rib tips. The cornbread was dry and crumbly. Cornbread is not difficult or long cooking so I'm not sure why I'd get old cornbread midday on a Saturday. Or they need to retool the recipe. In my head, I would think that portions would be sampled by the cook to ensure consistency, but I've never worked in a fast past restaurant so I don't know the process. Sides: dressing was good and not overly salty. Yams had too much sugar for me. I bought another meal for someone to eat and I hope it was better. A 1/2 chicken meal was $20. Overall, not with the $25+ tax I paid today. The staff was pleasant. The area was kept clean. However, the meat was a failure. I would be fine paying $25 of the meat was cooked correctly. I would not recommend going here for bbq as they have a not cash return policy. It is store credit or a gift card even if the food is poorly made. Likely need to go to a bbq specific restaurant next time. I have no plans on driving way back to the restaurant and just count it as a loss. The prices are equivalent to sit down restaurants without the service or quality.

Arkin's is a small carry-out only place that sells sandwiches, dinners, and meat by the pound. The sides are à la carte; except for the dinners. Before we even get to the food, let's talk about the staff. They are some of the sweetest and friendliest people you could ever meet! Even with the place being busy, they didn't rush us to order or to get out of the door. They chatted with us and made us feel welcome - as if we'd been going there for years! And every time we return it's like talking to old friends. It's so very refreshing in the current social climate! Now the food: 'Delicious' is too weak a word to describe it! I got the chicken sandwich, which came with slaw and jalapeño pickles. The sliced chicken breast was broasted and had a nice crispy skin. The seasoning was so good I didn't even want to put sauce on it! The slaw was awesome and I didn't detect mayo, so I was able to enjoy it. I added a side of greens, which were delicious. Not everyone can make greens.... My husband got a brisket sandwich - also with slaw and jalapeño pickles included. He got a side of potato wedges, which were broasted and seasoned to perfection. I almost regretted my greens choice .. almost.... The piece of brisket my husband let me taste was awesome - and I hate brisket; but not Arkin's! We filled our bellies that day and went back the next day to buy a dinner for my dad plus some meat by the pound for us to enjoy over the snowy weekend. Funny, they didn't seem surprised to see us back so soon! LOL. My dad enjoyed his meal too, and we gave him directions to the restaurant. Our other return visits have been equally as pleasant. I got a hot honey burrito with beans and rice and my gf got birria tacos. Also not pictured is a marg. Hot honey burrito was a lot of food! The fries were very good. Crispy and salted, they definitely hit the spot. The onion rings were the best I've had. Hearty batter with a perfect crunch.
