RUN!! This used to be a Chicken Express but is "Chuckling Chicken" with the same management. Per the manager, "we do not do fresh orders." He even tested the order I told them was old and overcooked, and asked for a freshly made replacement. Example: The french fries that looked as if they were deep fried three times over and even the replacement order had the same served in the replacement order. The first chicken was Luke warm at best and the second was hot but not a drop of grease drained. I actually used to really like the chicken at this specific Chicken Express. So did a lot of others as I often would have at least 2-3 cars ahead of me in the drive-thru. However, as of the past few months I don't know if they changed management or hired a whole bunch of people who don't care but the chicken smells old and lacks any flavor/seasoning. This includes their tenders. Additionally, the inside of their store needs a deep cleaning cause it screams filthy! Their sides are still decent but not worth the price nor the wait alone. They did offer to fix me three more after we had already eaten what we could but I turned them down. The gravy is good but not as good as Whataburger. So why FIVE stars you say? Two words: SWEET. TEA. Their sweet tea is RIDICULOUS sweet and is most certainly the epitome of Southern sweet tea. Not sure if this guy is the owner or mgr but I moved across the restaurant to avoid hearing this conversation that clearly needed to be done in private. When I was asked what sides I let the man know I wanted Mac and cheese and mashed potatoes with one and the other I wanted corn nuggets. This food is much like any other fast food joint in that it has a very skewed fat-to-healthy ratio, it's excessively greasy, fatty, and salty in every respect, and yet, Chicken Express fills a deep hole in my comfort food place that only it can do. Dry chicken which was lukewarm and two of the pieces cooked overdone, cold dinner roll, lukewarm fries, lukewarm gravy and a cherry pie with more powdered substance than a Colombians nose! I usually dine in and have a decent experience. After all it's easy to fix things when you are still on the premises. But have mercy on you if you order at the drive thru. I have only done this 3 times, but each time I have arrived home with items missing from my order OR fewer tenders than I paid for. How does this happen? How do you order and pay for 20 tenders and get only 19? I asked this to the lady on the phone, and she said they were busy and probably just threw some in and figured it was enough. Great example of sloppy, shoddy customer service. Are they banking on us not counting them? Today I get home with plenty of tenders and no gravy. Tenders, gravy and biscuits. It's just 3 things to get in the sack. We actually counted the tenders before driving off, but failed to verify the gravy. I'm a fool. This store obviously lacks good leadership/management. There should be a better system for filling drive thru orders. My last dine in experience saw one employee complaining to me about another employee filling up the Unsweetened Tea reservoir with Sweet Tea. Brilliant. It is impossible to get feedback to anyone other than the individual store via a phone call, so there is no leverage or incentive to fix things. Management simply does not care or is too inept to remedy the inadequacies! Chicken Express corporate is in hiding. They have precious little published contact info and no feedback channels.
