Chicken is SEVERELY under seasoned and dry. You could basically get the same thing from safeway's deli across the street for $8-10. The bbq sauces taste like the different varieties of "sweet baby ray" sauces. None of it tasted housemade or special. The "hot" sauce is just a spicy buffalo. While taking a road trip to Oregon, we found this gem while visiting family in Bend. The wings were delicious. During our visit, we opted for the all-you-can-eat boneless wings, which were totally worth it. Try the fried okra; it's a delight. The brews on tap were also a plus. The staff was very welcoming, especially since our group consisted of 12 people. The decor inside was perfect for family pictures. An independent fast casual eatery, Chicken Bonz serves up ... chicken. Lots of it. It was their Nashville hot sandwich that drew me here. I've spent a good deal of my life in the South and have a taste for a good Nashville. And that's what CB's version was, good. Not great or very good. The sandwich comes packaged with a nicely cooked piece of chicken seasoned with what tasted like ordinary bottled sauce (another commenter mentioned Frank's Red Hot and that might be right - might not) between two pieces of toasted bread. I'm not a fan of the toasted bread, much preferring a bun. The toast is a bit too abrasive (literally) on my mouth. Fries - cut almost shoestring - are excellent. Service was a bit of a struggle at the register but it might have been the young man was new to the job. Especially given the current restaurant hiring crisis (dismal), I'll easily give that a pass. His not wearing a mask properly? Not so much. The adults in the room need to explain to him a basic of human anatomy: the nose is connected directly to the lungs. With the arrival of effective vaccines easing the severity of the pandemic, including loosening of covid guidelines, wearing a mask has become less mandatory. But especially when you're a server in a restaurant, if you're gonna wear one, wear it. read more

Stood in Bend for one night and came across this spot. My group and I ordered about almost everything on the menu. I can tell you that this place is one of the best chicken wings spots I have ever had. I live out in Los Angeles and been to many chicken wing restaurants and Chicken Bonz is in my top three. Chicken Bonz has potential. The staff, from the front door to the kitchen, are enthusiastic, friendly, and helpful. The decor is a modern artist interpretation of a sordid affair between a can of yellow paint and Michael Jackson's "Thriller" video and what they did once at a Chuckie Cheese. Album covers on the wall were provided by Billy Madison. But it works. For what Chicken Bonz is, it's fine. It is welcoming to the worker at lunch, the college student on a break, and the family with young children on a budget. Prices are pretty reasonable. The fare is largely a choice between chicken wings or chicken strips. For both, the breading is generous, and you'll either really like it or really hate it. The quality of the meat is very good. The chicken strips are massive, but as other reviewers have noted, the sauces are very much over-the-counter ones. For some, this is a plus in that it provides a familiar, at home feel. But when I go out, I want something different. The breading is different. I like it. It's got a spiciness that works for me. The sauces, however, I'm not so sure about. I would rather a few unique ones and have them smothered all over my wings/strips than have some familiar ones--full of corn syrup and preservatives--that I get to dip into. I'd love to see something fresh and fun, some homemade chipotle barbecue, a sweet honey glaze, a Coke or Dr. Pepper glaze, a Thai peanut sauce, a chili ranch, an orange teriyaki, or a buffalo glaze with a homemade blue chunky bleu cheese. I'd come back for that. I'm not terribly concerned about the cutlery (as others have posted), but if it becomes a big concern, CB might look into a biodegradable/compostable option--or do nothing at all. Drinks and fries are great. I don't drink, but it looks like they have beers for a buck. I love the chicken-inspired table numbers and the paper towels at the table. For what CB is, again, this works. But something a little fresher and newer would go a long way, because while there aren't a lot of great wings in town, there are better. C'mon CB. Stopped by here a few weeks ago after reading reviews on Yelp. The customer service was great! The salad bar was to die for, PLUS kids 8 and under eat free with an adult combo meal.
