Ordered online for pickup and there was a big delay due to their system being down. Got the passion fruit tea and a black tea. Both were pretty standard boba shop drinks. For snacks, the chicken, onion rings and taro balls. Taro balls were sweet and crispy. Chicken was fried well and very flavorful. Onion rings were terrible. They were overcooked and burnt inside.
A solid 4.5/5. My go-to quick lunch place when I'm in the area. Favorite bento is the #1 fried Gpie and #2 grilled Gpie. Both chicken was seasoned well and fried/grilled perfectly. Juicy and crispy :) It satisfies my cravings for taiwanese food. 5/5 The fried squid bento was good too but chicken is top tier. 4/5 Braised pork chop was soso because too much bone and the meat was a bit tough 2/5. The side dishes for the bento changes daily but usually it's pretty good. Would rec this place.
I love Chick and Tea's fried chicken cutlet! It's my favorite out of all the other Taiwanese bento box restaurants. It's crispy, juicy, and has so much flavor. I also love the fact that they put minced pork sauce on the rice and it also comes with different seasonal veggie sides as well. Ordering is easy because you can order on the touch screen kiosk or with the cashier. One thing I have yet to find at Chick and Tea is a good drink. Every drink I have gotten has been disappointing lol. So I don't recommend any of the drinks as of now. But definitely get any of their fried chicken cutlets or sides because those are absolutely fun and delicious to eat.
My go-to spot whenever I'm craving Taiwanese street food! I love the crispy mushrooms and grilled bbq gpie. Service is fast and ambiance is casual.
We were having lunch next door at the ramen spot and the guys weren't full and wanted a popcorn chicken to snack on while waiting for our other tea order across the street. As you walk in you can tell it's a traditional Taiwanese cafe and probably local family owned and operated. 4 stars for rounding up 3.5 The taro milk tea was good, it's made with the canned taro chunks and not a powder. Which is a hard to find nowadays. The basil popcorn chicken was good but a bit salty for me personally but my kids loved it. The fried buns tho were way too oily and over fried. Hurt our gums when bit into.
located in a small strip plaza with limited parking, i went to try chick & tea because rice burrito in the same plaza was closed at 1:30. there was a kiosk inside and i got the gpie bento which came with a braised egg, minced pork, eggplant, and cabbage. had no clue what a gpie was but it's basically a breaded and fried taiwanese chicken cutlet. it was well balanced and a very filling meal, tho i wish there was an option to make the chicken spicy. some cuts of the gpie were hot and others were warm so i wonder if they used different batches for my order. i brought my partner the second time around because he was craving chicken cutlet but the gpie we ordered was barely warm :( it definitely affected the taste and texture.
Overall, pretty pleased with this bento. The pork was well seasoned and tasty with a nice fry. It was just kind of hard to eat since the bone is in. Chashu pork mix on top of the rice was nice as well and I liked the side dish with tofu and edamame but it was also difficult to eat. Garlic baked Choy was yum and this meal is protein packed with a boiled egg to top it all off. Service was quick!
This place is solid. I often order it takeout on DoorDash. The meats are very juicy and tender. The portion is also big and filling. Definitely good but not the best thing ever. Flavors of great and umami. 4.3/5 for me. The spots a regular if I want some nice Taiwanese fast soul food.
Always been wanting to try this place now that my favorite tapex has closed down :( rip! Chick & tea was closer to home- I always craved spicy- or fried calamari, and I would drive all the way to Milpitas just to go to tapex for it- cause they did it right. Tried chick & tea & also ordered their basil popcorn chicken. Honestly, both calamari & chicken perfectly fried- nice and crunchy & the chicken was still moist. Downside was there was so option for spice level. They do serve you a sweet and chilli dipping sauce. But I would prefer them to have a spice level optional for us fuego eaters. Other than that, satisfied my cravings. Will def come here often & bring inside of spice for myself & sprinkle it on.

The meals can feed 1.5 people, so you are likely to have extra. The fried chicken and fried pork combine excellent flavor with the right amount of crisp. Try this place out!
Everything was pretty good. Pretty much everything is fried...light batter , crunchy and not greasy . A great selection of appetizers so fun to try everything.

Chick & Tea is in one of the many small strip malls in Sunnyvale! You order at their counter kiosk, or from a QR on the tables. Cute lil cafe, with some fun pop music playing. They have a small dine-in area. If you need to satisfy that "fried food" craving, definitely try their basil popcorn chicken! You can choose your spice levels, but wish they offered a sauce to pair. I will say I appreciate the size and juiciness of the popcorn chicken bites! Breading is not too bad either, we've eaten it even after letting it sit it the kitchen for a few hours and they didn't get soggy! read more
Food: 3/5 The food is nostalgic and mediocre at best. There is nothing extremely special about the food but it has a very homestyle feel to it. The pork cutlets were fried well but the breading just fell off. The grilled pork chop was pretty solid and had a good charbroiled flavor. The fried chicken was probably the best: it was juicy and crispy. However, it could've been better with a little more spice. I do like that it comes with a wedge of lemon to make the flavors a little more prominent. Service: N/A Not much of a service since you can order through the kiosk. You pick up your food when it's ready and it's pretty much self serve. Ambiance: 2/5 It's a pretty empty restaurant during the time we went on a weekday night, but there were still a couple of people. Felt like a cafeteria where we self serve and clean up after ourselves. Despite the rating, I would come back for a taste of home cooked meal from time to time. Been wanting to try this place for a while and finally decided to treat myself after a nice bike ride. I got the original Gpie rice plate and it really hit the spot. The chicken was evenly breaded and full of flavor. Only disappointing part was it was not spicy. I got medium and it was not spicy at all. Next time I'll go for their highest tier spice. The minced pork on the side was yummy as well along with the cucumber and cabbage side dishes. They have an extensive menu with so many options that I'll need to come back for. read more

Detailed breakdown below: **Service, 4/5** When I ordered my bento box, they never printed out my order internally, so it took me a long time to get my food. **Decor & cleanliness, 5/5** Clean! Minimal decor. **Price & portion, 5/5** Great portion sizes and everything is delicious, so super worth it. **Presentation of the food, 5/5** Bento boxes are great because all the components are laid out in front of you! **Taste of the food, 5/5** Such perfectly crispy and well cooked popcorn chicken!! tl;dr - Tasty Taiwanese comfort food with huge portions and decent prices, but they HAVE to deal with the gnat problem. I've had gnats in my water cups TWICE and had to shoo away flying gnats both times I ate in house. I've had both the traditional fried and grilled gpie and fried squid plates as well as the basil popcorn chicken here. Massive portions and tasty chicken! I prefer the grilled version as the fried can be a little too fried sometimes once you get through half of the dish. There are little sides within the plate that are great. Despite the tastiness of the food, I had to drop my rating down a star because I cannot deal with the gnat problem they have. There are tiny flies flying around that you have to fight away throughout the meal, and I've had sealed water cups handed to me with a dead gnat at the bottom. I'm not sure if I'll do dine in in the future because I don't want to fight the flies. Goes to show also that the food safety might be compromised if there are a ton of gnats everywhere. Not sure what's going on, but it's not a great look. read more

Although it may be difficult when everyone is here for 10 butchers. *Experience: Quick Taiwanese fast food joint - you order at the front and state whether it's dine-in or take-out. Food was ready in less than 10mins. *Food: we got the grilled Gpie rice set, popcorn chicken, and passion fruit black tea. The grilled gpie was really good! It was somehow still slightly crispy although it was grilled and also super juicy chicken. It made me feel pretty healthy. The portion was enough for 2 to share if you're not starving. The popcorn chicken was also delicious. The passion fruit tea was a bit too sweet even though we got 75% sugar. So I guess we'll try 50% next time. Overall this is a solid spot for Taiwanese bento boxes! read more

Now that I've tried both Milpitas and Sunnyvale locations. Probably Milpitas is Macy closer location for me in the future. We ordered a bunch of take outs. All of them was labeled as requested. However, there's rooms for improvements on packing takeouts. I've order 10 plus bentos in addition to the drinks and appetizers. I only got about half the chopsticks needed and no other utensils... we had to scramble for some utensils to eat with... . About food, it was mediocre. Can't complain since most of the food items were deep fried. The popcorn chickens stayed fairly crispy when I got the food. It was about 30 minutes from the time I picked up the food to the time of consumption. Portions are pretty big. read more
My new favorite spot to get ji-pai (GPie) aka Taiwanese Fried Chicken Steaks! I loved their food so much, I returned two days in a row. They are currently doing indoor dining and takeout! You can order over the phone and online. + Popcorn Chicken: So juicy and crispy. Lots of basil. Pretty good portion and they season the large chicken pieces very well. I love the texture of the breading! + GPie: AMAZING! Very fatty, crispy, and lots of five-spice powder goodness. The portion is great and they cut it up for you for convenience. Not bad for $8.99! + Minced Pork Rice Plate: The perfect quick and easy lunch. The minced pork is very flavorful and I love to pair it with the marinated egg on the side. The side dishes could be better, but they help cut the fattiness of the pork. The cabbage had a very strange flavor... A bit offputting. + Oolong Milk Tea: Very fragrant! Good tea quality. The bentos here are yummy! This is def one of my parents go-to Taiwanese bento spots. Whenever I come back to the bay, this is usually one of the destinations I hit up. I highly recommend the B2 Grilled GPie (Chicken Cutlet) bento. The chicken is fried and grilled to perfection and the taste is phenomenal! It is perfectly crispy and the breading has a savory and slightly sweet flavor. I like the veggie sides too and the pork sauce over rice in the bento is delish. My parents also like the fried pork chop bento and railway braised pork bento. read more
Wow wow! Probably the best fried popcorn chicken I've ever had! Also sampled their fried tofu and taro balls. They have mastered the art of frying. Food came out quickly and the bento box portion sizes are generous. The decor is minimalistic and also really cute. For the menus, I appreciate that they have them on display near the ordering counter and on physical menus. Taiwainese soul food, indeed! It did seem like most of the items were fried, so probably best as a treat every once in awhile! read more

Ordered delivery through DoorDash and got the Braised Pork Chop Railway Plate. The food was good and the portion was generous.Giving 3 stars because: 1) there was a small piece of plastic in one of the side dishes, and 2) wish the pork was cut like the image on the menu showed so it's easier to eat. It was a bit difficult to eat with the bones on the meat. read more
I decided to order takeout here for dinner and was excited since I'd never tried Chick & Tea before! I ordered the Minced Pork Rice Plate (B11) and the Fresh Lemon Tea (T9) with boba. I really enjoyed the Minced Pork Rice Plate and would recommend that! The flavor of the minced pork was delicious and it went really well with the rice, cucumber, cabbage, and egg. I think this was a great deal! I personally did not really care for the Fresh Lemon Tea though. It tasted as if I were drinking an actual lemon rather than lemon tea, which made it hard to drink. My friend had their regular boba milk tea and liked it though, so I'm sure the other drinks here are better and would recommend trying those. Overall, I enjoyed the Minced Pork Rice Plate here and would definitely come back to try more of their food and other drinks! read more
After having passed by this place countless times, we finally popped in for a light snack. I've never been to Taiwan, but I've been told that its street food has no peer in the world. I was thusly excited to finally have an opportunity to try the cuisine, even if it was just a small sample. We arrived in the early afternoon, presumably after any noontime rush might have passed. The restaurant was empty save for one other customer, yet the parking lot of curiously crowded even though the rest of the businesses in this strip mall seemed decidedly inert. We scanned the menu posted on the wall next to the counter and made our selections. Be advised that there are no prices on the poster, so if you're curious about how much you're about to pay, you should probably take a look at one of the regular menus. Filling our bellies today was" Fried jumbo squid ($12.79) - a reasonably generous portion of breaded and fried squid. This was unfortunately overcooked and rather rubbery, but yet wasn't as crispy as expected. The flavor was good; it comes with a dipping sauce that I found to be too sweet and thought it was fine just as is. Crispy tofu ($5.99) - lightly fried chunks of medium-firm tofu with a soy-based dipping sauce. This was nicely done and delicious. Condensed milk buns ($5.99) - this took a little longer to cook. They looked like they would be light and airy when they came out, but they were actually fairly dense and substantial, which isn't a bad thing. These were greasier than I would have preferred, and the center of the buns were perhaps just a tad undercooked. The sweetened condensed milk was provided on the side as opposed to drizzled on top, and it wasn't really possible to pour it over the buns since it's such a thick liquid, so we just dipped the buns into the tub. Service was friendly and the food came out pretty quickly, as would be expected since we came during a quiet time. Looking at the menu, it is a bit heavy on the fried items; despite our small meal I could sense my liver going into overdrive to produce enough bile to emulsify the fat. They do have some grilled snack items that might be worth a try some time, and perhaps if we're hungrier we'll give their entrees a go. read more
We ordered a Black Sugar Milk Tea, a Matcha Milk Tea with boba, and Basil Popcorn Chicken. The Black Sugar Milk Tea was okay and the Matcha Milk Tea was too sweet and you couldn't really taste a matcha flavor. The boba was also a little hard. The popcorn chicken was good though! I took an extra star off because the service was inefficient. We waited about half an hour for our popcorn chicken and then they started telling us to leave since they were about to close, and didn't realize we were waiting for our food and forgot to call it when it was ready! read more
It's about 3 and half stars. Nothing crazy, but they do have excellent popcorn chicken, they are good chunks of chicken thigh battered with the good Ole tapioca starch. Maybe potato starch don't know but it was nicely seasoned. I do like how they actually gave the chili powder in packets that is a very nice touch. Moz sticks were nothing unique or amazing but your good Ole cheesy battered snacks. I do like their service here. I wanted to get pudding in my boba. But they said they were out and asked me if I would like any other topping to replace that. It was very nice of them to do that. Mad respects. read more

Running errands require fuel and luckily this was en route to where I was going. I've also been craving popcorn chicken so I thought why not. I grabbed their basil popcorn chicken and damn look at that crispness. Not to mention they're also HUGE. It definitely satisfied my texture preference, however where it was lacking was the flavor. When it says BASIL popcorn chicken I was expecting to see basil leaflets in the box but none were in sight. It tasted more like pepper popcorn chicken. Moving onto their milktea I grabbed an Oolong Milk tea and it was good not bad but also nothing amazing. read more
