This is seriously as good as it gets. I drop my iPhone 6 -- A LOT. This was the second time I'd shattered my screen. The first time, about 4 months ago, I'd heard that Chicago Gadgets was the place to go because it was $25 less than going to Apple. I went. They were amazing, quick and true to price. THIS time, I rushed there from work and showed up a half hour before they closed with my second shattered iPhone 6 screen, hoping they could take care of it before they closed. Alex took a look at it, told me that not only was the glass and lcd screen shattered, but he showed me very clearly that my phone was actually BENT. He told me there was no way he could fix it before they closed for the night, but when he saw the disappointment in my eyes, he said, "hold on a minute, let me see what i can do right now." Twenty minutes later he came out with a brand-new looking phone. The shattered screen and lcd were repaired like new, and he'd also managed to un-bend the phone! He would NOT accept extra money for the extra work; and on top of that, he threw in a new extra-heavy-duty case for special-needs phone droppers like me for 50% off. I had my iPhone 6s repaired. My screen was badly cracked. It was a mess. The good folks at Chicago Gadgets fixed me up with a repaired screen and LCD for $70 in under two hours. They had a lot of hi-tech looking equipment in the back for the repairs, so it appears they know what they are doing. I just had the repair done today and it looks beautiful and brand new. I went here for an iPad mini screen replacement. 1.5 hour round trip drive. Got my device. The new screen stopped responding to touch a day later. I had to drive back to drop it off and go back a third time to pick it up. No discount. They blamed it on the screen they installed and said it just be faulty. I'm wondering if it's a cheap after market substitute for an actual apple product? Regardless, I would go elsewhere with better customer service and products that work the first time. Best experience ever! Moe (I think he is the owner?) and his team are so helpful and friendly, and provided excellent service. My S7 screen cracked and it takes a lot longer to fix that screen than any other phone. They fixed it perfectly, taking special care with a corner that was more badly damaged, and it was like brand new. They even gave me a tablet to take with my to Starbucks while I waited so I would have something to do since I forgot to bring mine. On top of the fantastic experience, it was HALF the price of everywhere else. Knowing now that they are so great, I would still go there (not very close to where I live) and pay full price willingly. I love Chicago Gadgets! Alex saved my laptop from going to hell and I will be forever grateful! I have a 2008 Sony Vaio that looks like it's on it's last life, but I refuse to let it die... because it's pink... Anyway, my laptop won't turn on so I bring it to the guys down the street. They tell me there's an issue with the motherboard and they can't fix it. Womp, womp. I'm thinking it's a goner. I didn't give up hope so I brought it to Chicago Gadgets. I handed it over, praying for the best, hoping for the worst, and got a phone call about 30 minutes after I dropped it off saying it could be saved! At this point, I was jumping for joy! He managed to save all my music, documents and photos, so double plus! 2 days later I walked out of Chicago Gadgets, busted Sony Vaio in hand, $140 poorer. This is a computer and computer accessory repair shop. I would have to assume that their website is up to date. I was wrong. My companies wifi network is malfunctioning and we have exhausted our IT knowledge. We called Chicago Gadgets hoping that they could come resolve the problem. Their website claims they handle internet connectivity issues, including dealing with the ISP. However, I was told on the phone that they can't send someone out to our location to do this work. It is not a question of the amount of work or the distance from their business to ours, they just do not do it. I have to question the validity of their work if they can not keep their website current. read more

My iphone was stolen. A friend gave me his unused Samsung Epic phone but it needed a battery. I called three electronic places that are well reviewed here on Yelp. They each had the battery I needed for $39.99. I checked out Craigslist and found a few postings about phones for sale by this store. I decided to call and see if they sold batteries. They sure did! At the price of $15.99! It was way out of my route home, but I jumped on the CTA, switched to the brown line, and walked the short distance from the Kedzie stop to their store front. This place is full of accessories and gadgets! No clutter. Everything neatly lined up, in easy view, and fairly priced. The young woman was polite and helpful. Bought what I needed and was happy to find that the battery had charge. I was able to call Sprint from the phone to activate the services on it. I left out feeling happy that I saved some money and that I found a well stocked reputable "gadget" store. Before you go anywhere else, give them a call first. Never hurts to get a price quote. You may save big going here instead. That's if you don't mind making the trek this side of Chicago. PS- very diverse neighborhood...didn't seem dangerous at all...on the walk down to the store are many restaurants, store fronts, businesses, and a huge local ice cream shop...I enjoyed discovering this side of Chicago... read more

I had a cracked screen and not only did they Mr Ali change the screen but cleaned out the paint from a drop into a paint bucket that I had attempted to clean out myself. He cleaned out the paint for no charge and even gave me a deal on replacing the speaker damaged from the paint. Everyone is very attentive and knowledgeable. Chicago Gadgets is a life-saver. My son destroyed our iPad by tossing it off our second story balcony. I bought another one and he shattered the screen. I brought it to Chicago Gadgets and was quoted $100 to replace the screen. This is about $30 less than other places in the city. A few hours after I dropped it off I received a call telling me the volume wasn't working and some other problems were found. The person I spoke to said he was not going to charge me for the additional repairs. Who does this??? He told me the iPad would be ready the next day and I would receive a call. I was disappointed with my experience at Chicago Gadgets Store. I gave them my ipad mini retina to repair since it had a hairline tear in the screen. Their main store is currently experiencing some kind of electrical problems, and are operating out of the space next door. I handed my ipad off to an associate who told me it would be ready in 24 hours or less, and that she would call me when it was ready. Well, 3 days went by and I heard nothing. I tried calling (about 10 times), but the signal was either busy, nobody picked up, or their mailbox was "full." Finally I went to retrieve my ipad yesterday, and while they corrected the screen tear that I got the repairs for, there is now a new tear that wasn't there before. I asked the associate if they generally call customers to let them know their orders are ready, and she said yes, but she did not apologize to me. She also did not think anything was wrong that people could not call into the store. Very poor customer service, here. They staff the place with teenagers who don't have customer service skills. Nobody was rude, exactly, just not helpful. read more

I'm lucky a cracked screen is all that happened. We had some friends over to experience the fun of a summer BBQ, which happened to include 8 bottles of vino. Luckily much time had past since we ate, as it was somehow decided the best place to put the speaker and my iphone was directly on the BBQ. After some dancing and crashing into the grill, my iphone fell on the concrete below and the screen shattered. I lived with my phone like this for months, when one day I passed by CGS on my way to lunch at Semiramis (only one of the best Lebanese joints around). I decided to pop in to inquire, and I found out a fix would only cost me $60 - and they'd be able to do it while I ate. I kid you not, 15 minutes later they called saying it was done. I hadn't even bit into my first falafel yet. And, you would never know the difference. It's worked perfectly since then, and the glass sure looks the same as the original. Not a bad place at all, on the contrary really thrilled I found this location that I can trust. I bought 3 phones (for my family & I) from this place. I've also recommended several people to this place! The first phone I bought worked perfect. The second phone had some charging issues so we went back and they exchanged it without any issues. Unfortunately the 3rd phone had data connectivity issues ( I had to sit and wait up to an hr and still get a blank page and that was on full wifi bars & full 4G). So I went to in to see what was going on because I didn't want to exchange the phone unless it was the same one. Upon entering the store the girls in front are quite helpful and considerate; they evaluated my situation and had one of the tech guys check out my phone. After some time the tech guy came out told me to go ahead and get another phone and the only comparable phone I saw on display (price wise) was a My Touch 4G so I decided to give it a try - which ended up unsatisfactory because it was just not "my type" of phone so i came back within 2 hrs, than the guy gave me the same phone I left there as an exchange with the same MEID#. I was upset because I didn't want the same phone I had problems with. He said they reset it and maybe I could give it another try so reluctantly I did. So less than a wk later I realized there was no way this phone was working correctly so I had to go back again. Wasn't too happy about that but the manager (Moe) did come out and very kindly assist me. He made sure I got the same phone model but a different phone this time. He politely offered his apologies for my time coming back and forth and made sure I was 100% completely satisfied before he let me leave. He has even followed up with me since I got the new phone to be sure it is functioning correctly. I appreciated that and glad they resolved the issue. I must admit they have won my business and I WILL most definitely be checking their website as well as stopping in their store to fix any tech issues I may have as well as to buy new & or used devices they may have to offer! read more

I came in here with a Galaxy S III that had water damage and seemed beyond repair. They were able to fix it, which amazes me. (It would just turn off after a few minutes) They will take your item and examine it within a day for free, and call you with the estimate. This is the best method. It did take them two attempts to fix, but as I said, they got it done. And trust me, this phone was messed up. Even more important to me is that they gladly took it back to re-examine and didn't try to charge me for second visit. I recommend, if anyone can fix it, they can. My Microsoft Surface 4 crashed and I was told that it could not be repaired. I performed an internet search and came across Chicago Gadget. The store is located in an inconvenient location for me but it was certainly worth the trip. The staff is quite friendly. The technician that assisted me was Ali who could not be nicer. More importantly he was able to disassembly and fully repair the laptop in one day for an incredibly fair price. The unit works better than new. I have been to Chicago Gadgets on three separate occasions, all for repairs to video game systems. My first trip was because my Wii lens was not reading discs. I dropped off my console in the morning, they called me within a couple hours with an estimate ($50 to repair/replace the lens) and the work was done before they closed that same day. Based on my first trip, I recommended Chicago Gadgets to my brother, whose Wii was not displaying on his TV. I took it in and they replaced some video component. $50 again. Finally, I took my PS3 and Wii there because they were damaged by a power surge in my home after a thunderstorm. Both consoles would not display the video when hooked up to my TV. When I took them in, the guy did a couple different system resets on my PS3 while I watched in the store. He got it to work and did not charge me anything. For the Wii, it needed a new motherboard, which they replaced for $65. I cannot say enough great things about this place. If my consoles have issues, or if I need something repaired on my iphone, I will be sure to head back to Chicago Gadgets. They really care about their customers and are pretty damn fair with their repair prices. read more

After 5 years of flawless (I really hope I didn't just jinx myself) play, I finally needed the audio jack on my video ipod replaced. I didn't want to risk repairing it myself, though it is a very easy fix. The price, $45, was $30 cheaper than another repair place I found and much cheaper than anything Apple could offer. They were able to fix it while I waited, it took maybe 15 minutes. They repair pretty much anything electronic. While I waited, someone came in to pick up a repaired PS3, they offered advice on how to make it last longer. The place is maybe 15 minutes north of the Belmont stop on the brown line, I came from work in the loop and it took about 45 minutes. read more

I bought it and the external speaker wasn't working for some reason, they fixed it at no charge in 5 minutes. I have been relying on Chicago Gadgets for years, mostly to repair and/or upgrade iPods and a Pioneer mp3 player. They have always delivered quality workmanship well within the estimates provided for time and cost. Last night, I dropped my cellphone and damaged the touch input beyond use. My screen already had cracks so I decided to have both situations dealt with at once. However, I require my phone for work constantly throughout the day, and I already knew that replacing the glass on my particular model was a 3-5 day operation, and a quite expensive one at that, so I prepared myself to be without my phone for some time. Upon arriving at Chicago Gadgets, the prognosis was indeed grim. After explaining the urgency of my situation, the technician offered suggestions on ways to work around my dilemma, and, in the end, delivered on all items that very same day. Not only that, they brought it in earlier than estimated and under the budget proposed for the repairs. Lastly, the technician provided meaningful consultation on smaller issues I had questions about related to maintenance and protection. The front-of-house person could not have been friendlier or more accommodating during my visits. Awesome repair experience. The power button on my iPod Nano 6 stopped working after about a year and a half of use. Since it was a gift and specially engraved, it was worth it to me to get it fixed rather than go to Apple and have them either a) give me a new one or b) shrug. Was referred to Ali and Ashraf at Chicago Gadgets by Hassan at Andersonville Tech. They fixed it within 24 hours and charged $50, which I thought was fair. I needed to conduct business in the Chicago area(I drove from Michigan). I dropped off my son's gaming system when they opened. Took my iPhone SE in with shattered glass for repair. They said it would be done in an hour and a half (no 30 min like a lot of other places promise but they looked slammed to be fair) but their pricing was the best I'd found by far - $30 cheaper on average. Worth the wait. Perfect quality work and it looks like nothing ever happened to my phone. They're also fixing my HTC One M8's shattered glass that a lot of other places refused due to the difficulty. read more
