Stopped here for lunch , we had patty melts that were very good ...love the toasted sourdough on the outside of the melt which kept your hamburger from getting soggy. The special fries in this place are very special they are breaded with something that makes them amazing and crunchy. Friendly service and small town local atmosphere. The best cinnamon roll we have ever had. And we aren't new to cinnamon rolls. Soft, wonderful flavor and topped with butter. Not to mention, absolutely huge. I ate here for breakfast with my one year old son while in town on business. We ordered a sausage omelette with pancakes. The omelette was huge and filled with lots of sausage, veggies, and cheese. The pancakes were fluffy and good. My son kept wanting bite after bite even though he'd had his baby breakfast already. The atmosphere was good- ranching brands and veterans symbols on the walls, red and white checkerboard floor, about ten tables. Our waitress was really nice, the place has a family feel, and the good was delicious. We will be back for more food for sure! read more

We stop here often when in Joseph to enjoy the home cooked breakfast. As always the portions are huge, especially the hash browns. Ordered the sausage and cheese omelate which was superb. Recommend ordering half order of hash browns as it will be plenty, trust me on this. Another order in our party was veggie omelate and biscuit which are excellent. Massive omelette that I wouldn't want to meet alone in a dark alley at night, bursting with veggies (good) and not quite swimming in butter (good, but bad for me). Potatoes filled the remainder of the plate, and an oversize biscuit crowned the assemblage. Butter--as if more were needed--couldn't fit anywhere on the plate but was provided in a small side dish. My husband and I each ate one of these and thought they were great, but we would have been better off sharing one. read more

We had the worst breakfast ever. I ordered bacon, eggs and pancakes. I had trouble cutting the pancakes with my fork. Once I touched my over easy eggs with the fork, the majority of the white portion ran out in a raw state. I've always thought over easy had hard white and runny yolk, apparently they don't agree in this restaurant. My husband ordered the chicken fried steak. His over easy eggs were undercooked as well but not as badly as mine. He literally couldn't cut the chicken fried steak with the butter knife provided. Literally could not cut it! I was ready to send my meal back but the waitress never returned to see how everything was. So my breakfast today was coffee. I would have done 1000 times better at the gas station . I only gave this 1 star to make sure I could post this. Do not go to this restaurant. Horrible!!!!!!! read more

Had breakfast here on Sunday morning at 9am. The place was already packed with only 2 tables open. Our family of 4 sat down and was immediately greeted with menus and great hospitality. I had the chicken fried steak, which is one of my "go to's" for breakfast. It was crispy on the outside and had the perfect amount of batter and seasoning. The gravy was delicious and portions were huge. Also came with 2 eggs, hash browns and a home made biscuit. My daughter ordered the biscuit and gravy- equally delicious, but we should have just split my breakfast since there was so much and the flavored were similar. My son ordered the giant cinnamon roll and must have been good since he devoured the whole thing and then promptly started helping me with my food. My husband ordered the 1+pound ham with eggs, hash browns, and toast. I'm not usually a fan of ham, but this colossal slab of ham (the size of a dinner plate) was juicy and not overly salty. It tasted the way ham should be. Overall the meal was outstanding and although I hate to see good go to waste, there was no way we could possibly finish everything. This is a classic Wallowa county breakfast place. Be ready to see the locals, and service improves even more when they recognize you as more than a passing face. The hashbrowns are out of this world - and the coffee is delicious. Reasonably priced, and overall great experience. Worth the stop, although there are mixed reviews below. Why would you get a blueberry muffin at a greasy spoon breakfast place is beyond me??? Stick to the basics and you sure won't be disappointed. Best biscuit in the county! read more

We were in the area exploring for a couple days and after reading the great reviews here on Yelp, decided to give this cafe a try for breakfast. It's a really cute, "locals meet tourists" kind of country cafe'. You get to seat yourself, and the service is fast and friendly! We both ordered Western Omelettes - mine w/ toast and hashbrowns, and my hubby's w/ biscuits and gravy! The young guy helping us, warned me that it was going to be a lot of food, but I didn't listen, thinking I was especially hungry. We didn't have to wait long at all, and the food came piping hot, and overflowing the plate! He was so right! The omelette was stuffed with ham, onions, cheese and peppers. The hashbrowns were perfectly done! I tried a bite of the biscuits and gravy and the gravy was smooth, and flavorful and the serving was huge! The food was delicious! The coffee was standard cafe coffee, but did the trick. While waiting, we enjoyed looking at all the fun things on the walls: the funny sayings, posters, police badges, cattle ranch brands right into a couple of the walls and so on. The atmosphere is fun, as many of the locals gather to socialize before heading out for the day. The manager (I didn't get her name) was so nice and friendly. Even though they were busy, she listened to my husband's "stories", and even took our picture outside in front of the cafe'! I will recommend this breakfast/lunch cafe' to everyone, but when they tell you there is a LOT of food... don't ignore them. If we weren't hitting the road, we could have had lunch and dinner from the leftovers. Next time we are in Joseph, we will make this our breakfast stop! read more

Great restaurant with an excellent breakfast and lunch selection. The service is great. I understand that folks from the big city might not agree with the politics of the place, and (sad to say) there are unpleasant folks everywhere, even in Portlandia. I would not describe this place as unpleasant. It is one of the few 'all American' diners left in Oregon today. I proudly give it five stars and highly recommend the veggie omelet! read more
