We had a very nice outdoor table, looking out over Wallowa Lake. The berry-feta salad is available without chicken, and is good. The turkey-bacon sandwich is generously piled with turkey, and the bacon is fresh and crispy - but the sandwich as a whole is just OK. read more

They just kind of wing it...... All the menus posted state one thang (Breakfast 9-11) , but once you get up top..... It's another. We arrived at the base around 9:30am to get on the tram. 45+ minute wait to get on, 15 minute ride and another 32 minutes in line to order breakfast. We watched everyone in front of us order breakfast. Its finally our time, and......... Sorry we are no longer serving breakfast....... Punctual. OK. I can live with that. May we see the lunch menu..... Goes and gets us lunch menu.........we look for 2 or 3 minutes. Go to order..... Sorry, we don't serve lunch until 1130. Pissed. We finally got our food at 1200. Yes. We had heard how great this was and it was awful!!!! The shrimp tacos were drenched in salsa that was more like ketchup.the chicken sandwich was dried out and nasty.the pulled pork was like pork soup it has so much sauce. 3 out of 6 of us were sick after eating. The tram and grill is a must do! We hiked the trails first upon arriving up top. We had worked up an appetite and thirst! The grill did not disappoint great menu selections for the family (seasoned fries were a nice addition). The drink selection was accommodating to all (nice beer, cider, wine choices). I have to say the best part, and most entertaining was all the ground squirrels under your feet wanting a bite!!! It was fun to look around at all ages enjoying this but most of all the excitement of children (definitely kept them entertained throughout the entire meal). Very clean, and extremely friendly staff. The tram and the views from the top were a highlight of our visit to the area. The food was good, the beer list was fine, but let's face it, you're mostly there for a seat with a view and an excuse to stay a while. Others have called the service rude, and it was at times a bit abrupt, but honestly I appreciated it. Every time the host was gruff, it was warranted. With a big restaurant, a small team and new COVID-19 rules to reckon with, it was refreshing that someone took charge and said "no, we have rules for a reason, now wait in line." They were all super friendly and polite if you treat them friendly and politely. If they're going for an authentic European summit cafe experience, they're doing it right. read more

Talk about a restaurant with a view. First the view, you are above the clouds and can see the American version of the Swiss alps infront of you. At the same time, it does not cost that much to get or eat here. The best combination possible. The food: we got here just about when breakfast ended. So we ordered some lunch food. My beef burger was well cooked and seasoned. My wife had the shrimp Po-boy and it was delicious. The one thing we did not get a chance to try was the beignets. They were by the time we got there. We paid $125 for four people to ride the gondola. Then when we went to eat, were told 45-1hr wait. Didn't get food until two hours. Only two drinks offered the entire time and they were not packed. Great view, terrible service. Since the burgers specifically said with mayo or BBQ sauce I assumed the one I had ordered with BBQ sauce would not. I received it with lots of mayo between everything. The waitress offered to bring a new one. The rest of my party was able to finish my meal and it hadn't arrived yet. Someone in my party who was impatient walked over to her to complain. After waiting some more, I unhappily ate my burger after discarding the mayo covered toppings. The waitress was rude in dropping off the check, and we were going to pay with card. Service was slow only due to the popularity and the brisk business, but wait staff were attentive and efficient. Nice view, but poor, slow service! Was not treated well, and we were there for just about an hour and never did get our food. The wait staff was not very on top of checking in with us and didn't inform us that the wait would be so long. Our waitress displayed rude behavior by "sighing" when we asked for a sauce with the dish to be served on the side, and also yelled at my back "I said I was sorry" when I complained about the long wait after paying. BE ADVISED! YOU HAVE TO PAY FOR WATER HERE!!! I will never return nor recommend this place to anybody. Wish I had read reviews before I haD TO experience this travesty of a restaurant. read more

Service was terrible. I normally expect places to at least provide timely service to give a check. I waited over 30 minutes for a bill, even after I already asked for it. Staff complained that they have to many responsibilities and that was the cause of the delay. Food was alright. Prices were adequate. View was nice. Tasty food, I prefer the pulled bbq pork. Prices were very reasonable and the view was unbeatable. Truly awe inspiring. The wait was a bit and it wasn't to busy. As others have stated , the ride on the tram was great and the views spectacular ... but the food and service at the Alpine Grill was very lame. Our waiter was mainly pleasant, but clearly overburdened with being the sole wait person with 7-8 tables and became impatient with requests. Contrary to previous years' reviews, we found both the food and the service to be excellent. We both had the pesto chicken sandwich (no bun). Hubby had fries, I had potato salad. All was good. We also had clam chowder and ice cream with chocolate sauce (hubby) as a first course. Good! There were a lot of negative comments about service, but our server, Amanda, was wonderful and the other two employees with whom we came in contact were also very friendly and helpful. I came here to Oregon for a Vacation with my family and we decided to take a nice trip up the mountain to have lunch. The trip up was very nice but it took 20 minutes to be seated when there were 5 open tables that were left uncleaned. We sat down saying that we didn't mind if the table was cleaned afterwards but then it never was so we moved the plates and cups from the previous customers on another table that wasn't cleaned at that time. We waited then another 20 minutes and after watching various people who were seated after us get their orders taken and served, we complained to a waitress who then finally took our order. After another long wait (we were there, mostly waiting, for about an hour and a half) we finally got our food. I ordered the Clam Chowder, which was not that good, I've had better Chowder out of a can. It was also kind of cold when served so that didn't help. The fries were also cold and over salted, I felt sick afterwards. When we went up to pay, we told the waitress who served us that the food was cold, she responded with "Well it's windy today." We made it clear it was served cold but she didn't seem to care. We decided not to tip anything and left. That was downright the worst service I've ever had. I downloaded Yelp just to make this review while we were waiting. Gordon Ramsey needs to come and fix this place up fast. read more

He looks like Donald Trump and is just as useless. The poor wait staff are overwhelmed, frustrated, and understaffed. They need some serious work here before being deemed decent. The only redeeming quality was the adorable squirrels running around the restaurant. And you don't even get to feed them! The food was probably alright due to the copious amounts of sauce on the burgers and how hungry we were due to the wait. Eat before you go up the tram.
